jackfalahee: Ooof i am proud of this guy. @conradricamora has been working on @herelieslovebway for over 10 years and is now making history as the first ever all-Filipino cast on broadway. The show is sensational and i can’t wait for the world to see it. Conrad, you’re nothing short of magic. I love you.
Congrats to the entire cast and crew. Shoutout to @davidkorins for the absolutely insane design. Like nothing I’ve ever seen on broadway.

BIOGRAPHY
trigger warning: death, drugs
Toni was born into a family that was already in the headlines, already filthy rich, already successful and already had his money and life set before he was even a thought. His mother being a well known song writer and music producer and dad an actor/director.
His dad, Christos, an already established actor and director made the life and work he did seem like the best thing on earth and from a young age he had Antonio featuring in movies along side him or in films that he was directing. He was a child star and the nepotism was clear but it's also not something he ever denied either.
His favourite class in school was art and eventually that interest became his career. His silly sketches eventually turned into amazing art that he had the honour of putting on peoples bodies for life and it is something he will never get tired of. Other than that he was a history nerd too and enjoyed sports, he played goalie for the schools hockey team.
In school he was a pretty loud boy, he wasn't ever the guy who sat alone and he definitely was the class clown. He struggled a lot academically and was diagnosed at an early age with surface dyslexia which meant when it comes to his line of work he takes that extra bit of time learning his scripts but he doesn't let it stop him.
Toni lost his father when he turned 30. He took it extremely hard and went down a bad path and got into heavy drugs. He was out in the clubs every night and he couldn't drink without eventually finding himself in a bathroom taking god knows what. It got to the point his days were blurred, he had no idea what time it was when he was waking up and he had no idea what day it was. His uncle and mother helped him get the help he needed and he stepped out of the spot light for a year to get better.
Eventually he got back on his feet thanks to his family and when he felt ready and safe to do so he got himself back into his line of work, something that he and his father both loved and it made him feel closer to him again though he was now gone

Sunday confessions:
1. I dnt mind a Euphoria s3, bt i hope its the last. Im very curious wat there going to do as far as addressing wat hapoened to Fez, how they will age the characters, if Rue/Jules will get back together, how Cassie/Nate will n in the future. If theres goimg to b a s3 (i think its highly likely there will b since its one of HBOs most watched shows), i hope a required writers room will help Sam b more organized in his writing, Z gets to direct, hoepfully a Gia/Rues mom ep, and mayb Hunter grts to write again.
2. I saw Deuxmois sighting of Jacob n Olivia in Toronto, i think theyv been spotted pretty regularly. I think he has really found a match with her, he gets to b the *star* in the relationship and she seems to follow him wherever he goes lol i wuldnt b shocked if they lasted (even if their on/off)
3. Im very curious to see wat type of roles Z does once Euphoria actually ends. I think she is def going to continue producing and acting bt i think she likes stability, and i wuldnt b shocked if she was apart of another tv show. Wuld love if she was apart of a show lik the Bear
Thanks for your confessions Anon!
In answer to your confessions:
I'm kind of curious to see what they're going to do with the Fez storyline as well now that Angus is gone. 😔Honestly? I actually think it might be good to just let the show go at this point. 👀 They've had delay upon delay, Sam couldn't even write anything during the Writer's Strike last summer, the cast has been moving on to bigger and better things tbh 👀, "The Idol" was an utter disaster 🥴, the crew hated the filming conditions of S2, and based on rumors....supposedly HBO, Zendaya, and others aren't too happy with the supposed plotline/script for S3. Who knows if that last part is even true, but tbh at this point, the cast has all had success and wins and don't really need this show anymore as far as I'm concerned. I know I'll get pelted with tomatoes by Euphoria fans for saying this, but this is just my personal opinion. They really could just do a few episodes, and leave this show.... Or, just cancel it altogether....👀
While I think it's great that JE has lasted this long in a relationship with someone lol 🤭, for some reason, I'm still not seeing them as a "forever couple". I think JE and Olivia will last longer than fans expected them to, but I don't see him marrying that girl. And if they've really broken up more then once already and are "off/on", then that's a sign that maybe there are some fundamental issues going on in their relationship. 👀 But hey! I could be totally wrong about them, and they might end up married, having kids, with a house and a white picket fence lol. 😅 I'm just not seeing it rn.
I'm curious about that too Anon! I do think Z loves stability. I wouldn't mind her on another show that's actually well-written, with a stable director, a great cast, and an awesome plotline....Maybe a show that doesn't take 8 MONTHS to film. 🙄 I would have loved to have seen her do a show like HTGAWM with Viola Davis. Or, just anything where she's no longer playing a teenager in high school. I'm ready for her to shed the "teenage/high school" roles and leave them alone. I would even take her in a well-done series on Hulu, Netflix, or AppleTV. Just ANYTHING else other than something connected to Sam Levinson please.... 😩

How much do you want to bet that JD still brags about how progressive he was with TW casting and storylines? He's probably like 'Look at me casting all these POC actors and writing LGBT characters for TW' and fails to mention that he either killed off the POC and LGBT characters or had them disappear.
Oh absolutely. In his mind, I’m sure he thinks that Teen Wolf paved the way for all the brilliant shows that have actual queer representation in them.
I was talking about this on twitter and about how it’s so embarrassing for them to think that TW had great queer rep when shows like Shadowhunters and HTGAWM were airing during the same time & actually had queer leads. Unlike Teen Wolf.

What are the worst casted (cast) shows do you think in terms of chemistry in terms of like nothing about these shows work?
I am a fan of your blog so I know a few like Riverdale, Shadowhunters (expect for Jace and Alec), The Flash, The Originals. Are there any others?
And then what are some of the best casted (cast) shows in terms of chemistry, in terms of this just works.
Also, why do you think that casting directors get chemistry so wrong? Like Shonda Rhimes is known for working with the same crew on all of her productions and they did Scandal and HTGAWM where the cast just worked well together and the chemistry between all was so well done but now she’s doing Bridgerton where the chemistry is just not there even though she works with the same crew who cast Scandal. So, why do you think that casting directors (not just Shonda) are getting chemistry so wrong?
I read through your “Actors, Directors…chemistry between characters” and they say that it’s something you can’t fake, and it’s there if it’s there. But then why do they get it wrong sometimes? Why cast actors with no chemistry if you can feel it, or you can not feel it?
Hmm, it's a lot easier to talk about shows where it all just works, like The Bear is a cast where the chemistry is excellent
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
because they all riff off each other incredibly well, hitting all the points, there's a fluidity to that cast that is necessary for everything that they do with each other. For Carmy to call Richie 'cousin' even though they're not related, JAW and Ebon have to have the chemistry to pull off that kind of closeness, to be like family, where you don't feel any hesitation or distance or coldness, they just have to go there
Tumblr media
For Syd to go through the various emotions that she does with Marcus depending on the stress level of the kitchen plus that flirty awkwardness, Ayo and Lionel need to have chemistry.
Tumblr media
In fact, 2x06, which I consider to be the best episode of the series so far was really interesting because there were moments in the episode that didn't flow as well as other episodes because of all of the guest stars and they didn't have the same kind of fluidity and familiarity that the core cast had, which worked for the episode considering the themes of the episode but I was like, yeah it's a bit more jarring to watch the interactions because they don't have the same kind of chemistry.
Succession is another one where it just works in a way you don't think it does because it's a naturally awkward show but I mean, these are siblings
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
so i liked when sarah snook said they kept doing the scene over and over and then kieran asked her if he could slap her for real during one take and she said ok and so he did and then something in her reacted the way you would to a sibling and she just went after him. she was like you can see it in my eyes i just turned
Tumblr media
and they just started wrestling the way siblings would and that’s the take they used and it makes sense because that scene is really organic.
That 70s Show, when I did the rewatch a few months ago, I re-realized that they had lightning in a bottle with that cast and there was such a commitment that I don't see in shows now
like if you want to talk about a show that really goes for it, T70s isn’t brought up nearly enough, they committed to the physicality of a scene
Tumblr media Tumblr media
like in general
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and I'm talking a lot about commitment and trusting your scene partner, which is definitely a part but it's not just that. Like in TGP, Kristen Bell commits to Eleanor's love for Chidi, there's a particular scene where she's insisting that they wake him up, and she's explaining why they need Chidi and you hear how much she loves him in her voice and see it in her expressions
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I believe Eleanor in that moment because Kristen is committed to the scene but together they don't have romantic chemistry, it just doesn't work in that framing
I talk about the cast chemistry in Breaking Bad
Elite was a quasi-fascinating viewing experience because in season 1, everyone was paired with the people they had chemistry with that it made me forgive a lot, like, a lot of plot and narrative holes
and then from season 2 onward, they started mixing the actors up and it didn't gel as well and I was like, you messed with a good thing.
Gossip Girl was also a cast with chemistry
In terms of shows that don't...I usually block the shows out, lmao.
I can't really expand on this because I only saw half an episode, initium had Supergirl on at her place once and I had such a violent reaction to it that she changed the channel and she never changes the channel when I don't like something, she makes me stew in it (that's how I ended up watching Riverdale and Shadowhunters in the first place) but it was just ... bad, like, stilted and dry and flat, I just remember being like
Tumblr media
It's weird to talk about Mindhunter in terms of cast because it's about two FBI agents but I remember, I couldn't get into it, couldn't get into the plot because it was centered around these two agents and they were so stiff and flat with each other and I expected a chemistry like season 1 of True Detective, Woody Harrelson and Matthew Mcconaughey worked well together, they vibed, and immersed me in their relationship, which was tense, and their case.
Regarding why and/or how casting directors/EPs etc. miss chemistry with certain casts or leads, I'm not really sure how that happens, I couldn't guess, haha.

I always thought Shonda was rather groundbreaking in how diverse her shows are. But at a certain point I’ve had to stop watching each of her shows because they began to feel off. I though it was a me thing and my taste was changing but after how Bridgerton treated Simone and Kate…I don’t know. For some reason I’m taking it personally and it’s hard not to be bitter. Did something change in Shondaland with their priorities or did I buy into undeserved hype before?
Thanks for this ask anon! Also strap in because I'm going to spill all the tea on Shondaland. [Mini essay is under the cut]
My take is: when she started out way back then, in the early 2000s, it was ground breaking diversity because we never really had main characters of colour who weren't tokenised or played up for stereotypes (Cristina Yang, Olivia Pope, Annelise Keating etc). So back then it was deserved hype because no one was really doing that on such a large mainstream show.
But also because it was the early naughts, the main protagonist was still a white person while the characters of colour were their support system. While Olivia and Annelise are the main protags, they are surrounded by white characters especially Olivia more than Annelise so ot felt like tokenism in Scandal at times tbh. HTGAWM was pretty good on diversity considering her track record.
I also personally think she operates this way because she primarily panders to the white audience. Her own community and audiences of colour are a second thought to her and her team. She strikes me as the sort of WoC who feels like she owes the white people in charge and audiences this because they are the ones who put her on the map and is okay with throwing her characters of colour under the bus to keep her place as a popular creator. [Would like to reiterate that this is just my opinion and interpretation of the way she interacts with the fans and reception of the show and is not a fact.]
However while it was deemed groundbreaking at the time, Shonda's formulas have stayed the same. Not just with the limited diversity quota but her obsession with love triangles. So now 20 years later, it's all outdated. You are constantly be churning out shows with useless love triangles that you don't even pull off well and also have 80% white cast with a few main POC characters. Because they are the 'mains', it seems like POCs are getting to shine because they are taking up space but really when you combine all the white characters' screentime, it's overshadows the characters' of colour time on whichever show.
In a way anon you have changed your taste because you've grown but Shondaland's way of storytelling has not evolved at all and it's getting tired.
It also doesn't help that ALL of the company's showrunners (aside from her in the early Greys days) are white. Like how the hell are you suppose to showcase a meaningful stories about people of colour if you put someone who fundamentally does not understand that experience in charge??
Now, however because she and her company aren't keeping up with the times, Shondaland and their shows are becoming overrated and not to mention sloppy. Race discussion aside, the writing always goes to shit after a couple seasons. It's more obvious that her formula doesn't work in 2022 anymore when you have actual diverse shows that doesn't sacrifice good writing for the whims of the creator and actually wants to tell meaningful stories that don't involve white people. Because white people have had YEARS of rep and now it's time for us to shine. So now we have amazing shows like Love, Victor; 911 & 911 LS (this one more so; the OG kind of dropped the ball in S5A), Abbott Elementary, Fresh Off The Boat, Never Have I Ever, etc and while I haven't seen this show yet, I've been told Roswell specifically panders to audiences of colour and that's what makes it so enjoyable for our community to watch and I think we need more shows like that. Just for us.
All of that aside, I'm so sorry the treatment of Simone in Bridgerton got to you. I feel the exact same way. I want you to know that you taking it personally and feeling bitter is valid. They really made Kate suffer this season and never hyped Simone in promos, something is fishy about that 😤 My DMs and asks are always open if you ever wanna come in and bitch/rant about it. I'm here to listen and know you aren't alone in feeling like this. Hope the feelings subside soon and you feel better 💞💞

Some Thoughts about the HTGAWM Finale
Writing a spoiler-filled rant about an episode of television that aired nearly 3.5 years ago? Could not be me. Oh no wait it is me. I'm doing that. Spoilers below the break.
So I have two main issues with the finale. First, it seemed incredibly rushed which, with this show, should not be super surprising but I guess I expected a little more planning this time? It seems to me that to be constantly introducing new twists and plotlines 20 minutes into your literal series finale is not good. But ok, that's a minor complaint. Let's get to my main issue with the finale.
My main issue with the finale is how they ended the storyline of Connor and to a lesser extent, Oliver.
I was going to write this whole long thing, and then I went to work and got back from work and now I can't be bothered. It's just, why does he go to prison at the end? The fact that he's the ONLY main cast member (who isn't dead) who doesn't get a happy ending is so fucking stupid and annoying and, frankly, seems a little vindictive? Idk, anyway, it was really annoying to me.
