Sevika × Lawyer!reader

I feel like Sevika would be spilling all the gossip. We all know this woman doesn't dance around the point, and her lawyer is just like, "NO. You CAN NOT say that on the stand."

this is SO funny it reminds me of a post that i'll try to find from a while back where someone was like 'sevika didn't even try to keep vi a secret from jinx she just loves to gab' jlsafkdjlfak

also, i have no idea how court proceedings or law in general works, so this is just me bullshitting lmaooo

when you first started out as a lawyer, you were broke as shit, young, and incredibly overworked as a public defender.

in your first year practicing, you defended a man named silco, who was being charged with drug trafficking. his case was easy-- there wasn't enough evidence for a proper prosecution-- and you managed to get him off with no charges.

five years later, he approached you again. apparently, in the time since you'd last seen him, silco had built himself a successful shimmer business. you were still broke and overworked, but you weren't young and idealistic enough to want to be a public defender much longer. so, when silco asked you to become him and his crew's full time criminal defense lawyer, and when he showed you the paycheck he was willing to give you for your help, you eagerly took him up on his offer.

now, you're working full time under silco's employ. your typical day consists of giving silco legal advice, or bailing his teenage daughter out of jail. his crew is smart, they rarely get caught, but every once in a while you have to enter the courtroom to defend one or another of his goons who tripped up.

like today, for example.

sevika is silco's number two, his right hand woman. you've met her a few times in passing-- she likes to lurk, standing behind silco's desk as the two of you talk or chauffeuring the two of you down to the local precinct to get jinx out. but you've never had the chance to talk to her.

at least not until now.

sevika was arrested, suspected to be the ring leader of the local shimmer ring. she isn't, of course, and it should be relatively easy to get the charges dropped.

it should be.

but as you're talking with sevika in a private room, coaching her for her time on the stand, you realize that this might be one of the hardest cases of your life.

because sevika can't keep a secret to save her fucking life.

"okay, so where were you the night of the 24th?" you ask. sevika blinks.

"oh, was that a friday?" she asks. you nod. she chuckles. "i remember. me and silco were testing out some new product in his office all night. we got a bit carried away... called some girls over, drank the bar dry, heh, it was a good night." she says, smiling.

"sevika, we practiced this!" you say. sevika blinks at you.

"o-oh shit, right. uh, i was at home, in my apartment." she says.

"were you alone?" you ask.

"uh... yes?" she tries. you groan, and move onto a different line of questioning.

"what's your relationship to silco?" you ask. sevika cringes.

"ew, fuck, don't say relationship." she mumbles. you chuckle. "he's my boss." she says.

"and what do you do for work?"

"me or silco?"

"both."

"well, silco runs the operation, i keep his clients and goons in line."

"and what, exactly, is that operation?" you ask. sevika gulps.

"uh. b-buisness?" she tries. you snort. "he runs a bar." she says, biting her lip to keep from talking, likely trying to keep herself from adding on 'and he's the biggest shimmer producer in zaun.'

you're impressed by her restraint, and you smile at her. she grins.

"and what do you do to keep his 'goons' in line?"

"beat the shit outta them. sometimes more, if they really fucked up." she says, shrugging. you groan, leaning forward to smack your forehead against the table between you and your client.

"sevika. you're fucking with me, right?" you ask, dropping your lawyer voice to talk to the woman across from you. she hums.

"trust me, hotstuff, if i was fucking you, you'd notice." she says, smirking. you groan.

"that's not what i--!" you cut yourself off to take a deep breath. sevika grins. "don't give me that smile, you're gonna end up in prison if you don't get your act together!" you scold. sevika shrugs.

"would you come visit me?" she asks, batting her eyelashes at you. you huff.

"cut it out." you say. "this is serious, sevika, how the fuck are you so bad at lying?"

"i dunno. fuck do i have to lie for? i say what i mean, and i mean what i say." she says. "like, for example, i'd really like to get to know you better. both mind and body." she says, smirking again. you can't contain your laugh, despite the growing concern you have for the woman in front of you.

"i can't go out with clients." you say. sevika pouts.

"why not?"

"i could lose my license." you say. you shuffle through your papers as sevika eye fucks you, trying not to get distracted by your attractive client. "okay, let's try some easier questions. when did you start working for silco?" you ask.

"ten years ago."

"and he immediately appointed you to second in command?"

"fuck yeah he did. have you seen me fight? he'd be stupid not to."

"sevika!" you cry. she blinks.

"what?"

"you can't say that! you can't say any of this!" you rant, raising from your seat to begin pacing. "you-- do you want to end up in stillwater? because that's where you're headed if you don't get your head out of your ass and start taking this seriously."

sevika blinks at you, a smirk on her lips, one of her eyebrows raised. "you're hot when you're angry." she says. you could strangle her. instead, you throw a handful of papers at her head. she squawks and dodges them, and you scrub your forehead in frustration.

you take a break, slumping down in your chair and collecting your thoughts. sevika pulls out a joint, and you make grabby hands for it. she snorts as she hands it to you.

"don't think you're supposed to get high on the job."

"yeah, well you're giving me a migraine. gimmie." you demand, snatching the joint out of her hand and putting it between your lips. sevika just giggles, lighting the end for you as you inhale. "thank you." you say after a moment, exhaling the smoke and passing the joint back to your client. she takes a hit and relaxes back in her chair, her eyes not leaving yours.

"fuck are you looking at?" you ask. sevika shrugs.

"you're very attractive." she says simply. "i've always thought so. and now you're all huffy and angry at me-- it's only making me like you more." she says again. blunt as ever. you sigh.

"tell you what." you say after a while, taking the joint from her mouth and putting it in your own. you take a hit, rising from your seat and rounding the table, before sitting on the table top right in front of her. you blow the smoke out in her face, and sevika blinks up at you, stars in her eyes. "if you start taking this seriously, and if you don't end up incriminating yourself on the stand, once the charges are dropped-- which they will be if you get your shit together-- i'll let you take me out to dinner." you say.

sevika grins. "really?" she asks. you nod. "dinner and dessert?" she asks, her eyes dragging down your body. you snort.

"don't push your luck." you mumble. sevika just smiles.

she ends up getting her act together pretty quickly after that. you aren't sure if she was truly that motivated by your offer-- or if she was just being obnoxious before-- but either way, you're happy.

when her day in court arrives, sevika's cool, calm, and collected. you aren't. you're nervous as shit, worried that she'll slip up while being questioned.

before the judge arrives, sevika nudges your foot with hers under the table. you look up from your papers to stare at her. "what?" you ask.

"relax. 'm not gonna fuck up a chance at goin' out with you." she whispers. you huff a laugh.

"you're ridiculous."

"mhm, and you like it." she says.

she ends up doing great. there are a few moments where she nervously eyes you from her spot on the stand, and you have to dig your nails into your palm to keep from mouthing the lies you'd rehearsed together to her. she figures it out though.

and when court is dismissed, after the charges being dropped, you don't even leave the courthouse before sevika's tugging you into a supply closet and pressing you against the door.

you smile at her.

"i did it!" she says, giddily. you giggle. "you did it!" she adds on, shaking you by your shoulders. your giggle turns into a full-blown laugh, and sevika grins at you.

"congratulations, sev, you're a free woman."

"free to do this too, right?" she asks, her hands coming up to cup your face. you snort and nod.

"i guess a deal's a deal." you say. sevika giggles.

"oh please, like you haven't been counting down the days until you could get your hands on me." she mumbles, rolling her eyes. you giggle and shrug.

"i plea the fifth." you say. sevika laughs, and then you tug her forward by her suit jacket to press her smiling lips against yours.

It's that time of year again!

I am ready to take your birthday greeting messages to give to Morten on his birthday. (After all by now he is probably expecting it from me 🤣) to ensure you are included in the production please ensure you follow the instructions.

Your submission must be in the format of a photo of yourself...print your name on it and your message ON THE PHOTO and add your country's flag.. (like we did on the brother tour for the band to see where the fans have come from )

Chapter 3: Stealing is not good for my health

It was noon, and Rosie Hawthorne was laying in bed, still in her pajamas. After yesterday, Rosie has jumped at any and every sound. She did not leave her room yesterday and only came out for dinner. Rosie spent her time reading and sketching.

Right now, she was reading Little Women. She was so engrossed in the novel that she did not hear the door slowly open until she heard her door creak. Her head snapped up, eyes wide. Rosie let out a sigh of relief when she saw her father standing in the doorway.

Garrett Hawthorne was dressed in his uniform. He had been at the police station when he received a call from his wife, Lillian. Lillian Hawthorne had informed him that Rosie had not come out of her room to even eat breakfast. The mother was worried and had to get to work. So, she asked Garrett to come talk to their daughter.

“Hey, kiddo.” Garrett smiled gently. “Shouldn’t you be our, playing with other kids?” He sat down on the edge of Rosie’s bed.

“Dad, I’m thirteen, not seven. I don’t need to be out, playing with other kids as you put it.” Rosie closed her book, not before placing a bookmark to not lose her place. “What are you doing back?”

“Your mother called,” Garrett started but was cut off when Rosie scoffed.

“Oh, did she now?” Rosie crossed arms over her chest.

“Rosie, she’s worried about you.” Garrett said softly, trying not to provoke the tiger.

“Is that why she sent you, instead of coming here herself?”

“Kiddo, please.” Garrett sighed before continuing. “Let’s not have this conversation right now. We can talk about this later.”

“I don’t want to talk about this.” Rosie stood up from her place on her bed and got some clothes out of her closet. “I’m going out, to ‘play with children’.”

“Not before you eat something.” Garrett stood up from his spot and took his leave. Before Rosie could protest, he continued. “I’ll warm up the food.”

Rosie was standing in front of the pharmacy, dreading going inside. She hated how creepy Mr, Keene was, preying on young girls. Her mother had asked her to buy some things from the pharmacy and even though she did not want to, she still left her front porch.

Rosie was going over the list of things she needed when she came across Beverly. Beverly Marsh was standing, trying to decide between the various products in front of her. Rosie walked closer to Beverly and pointed at a certain box.

“I’ve seen my mom use these ones.” Rosie pointed at the box and saw Beverly jump in panic. “Sorry, didn’t mean to scare you.”

“No, thank you.” Beverly smiled at Rosie.

Rosie nodded at Beverly before she walked towards another aisle. There, she spotted Eddie Kaspbrak, Bill Denbrough, and Stanley Uris with Eddie grabbing at whatever he could get his hands on.

“Uh who died?” Rosie questioned. Eddie stopped in his tracks and stared at Rosie.

The two boys whispered things to Eddie who stayed quiet and still. Beverly came up behind Rosie and immediately hid a box behind her back at the sight of the three boys.

“Y-you okay?” Bill asked Beverly.

“I’m fine. What wrong with you?” Beverly questioned.

“None of your business.” Stanley jumped in before anyone could reveal anything. But Eddie started talking the second Stanley answered.

“There is a kid outside who looks like someone killed him.” Eddie said quickly while still holding the many things in his hands. He kept his gaze on Rosie. He trusted her. He had since she had defended him from Henry Bowers from bullying him that one time in 5th grade.

“W-we need some s-s-supplies, but we don’t have enough money.” Bill continued.

“Okay,” Rosie slowly said as she took in all the information the two boys gave her.

Beverly stared at the three boys intently as a plan formed in her head. She looked at Rosie and nodded her head where Mr. Keene most likely stood.

“I have a plan.” Beverly said as she walked forward.

Not five minutes later, the three boys and Rosie were running out of the pharmacy, trying not to bump into anything, but Eddie did not get the memo.

The four 13 year olds ran out of the pharmacy and towards the alleyway where she saw Richie standing with who Rosie recognized as the new kid. The second Richie saw Rosie, his hand went up in a wave and he called out to her.

“Hey hotstuff! Did you miss me already?”

“Oh yes. I totally did. Couldn’t get you out of my mind all night.” Rosie answered him as she stood next to him and watched Eddie get down to work.

“Really?” Richies eyes widened and a huge smile came upon his face.

“No.” Rosie answer him before she turned to the new kid. “Well that doesn’t look so bad ….” She started before she was cut off by Richie.

“Really? Because he looks like he’s about to die.”

“Richie. Shut up!” Rosie said to Richie before she turned back to the injured kid. “Don’t listen to him, new kid, Dr. Kaspbrak here will have you fixed up in no time.” Rosie gave him a sweet smile and bens cheeks burned bright red.

“Thank you. I’m Ben.” The new kids introduced himself to Rosie.

“Nice to meet you Ben. I’m Rosie.”

“I-I know. I mean, I’ve seen you around the school before.” Bend said before Richie put his arm around Rosie’s waist and pulled her into his side.

“Hey! Hey! You do not eye fuck her. Only I can do that.” Richie said as he pointed his finger at Ben with his free hand.

“How about no.” Rosie said as she removed his arm.

Richie moved a bit behind her, looked down, smirked, and then moved next to Rosie. The smirk did not leave his face until he started annoying Eddie.

“Suck the wound.” Richie said as he moved closer to Rosie, who did not pay him any attention and kept her focus on what was happening in front of her.

“I need to focus right now.” Eddie said as he put the bandage on Ben’s cut.

“You need to focus.”

“Yeah, can you go get me something.” Eddie

“Jesus. Um, what do you need?” Richie asked.

“Just get my bifocals.” Eddie replied. “I hit it in my second fanny pack.”

“Why do you have two fanny packs?” Stan questioned.

No one noticed as Bill left the group and moved outside the alleyway.

“I need to focus right now and it’s a long story.” Eddie answered.

“I’d like to hear that story. It sounds . . . . like it’d be an interesting one.” Rosie said as she watched Eddie take off the temporary bandage, they had put on Bens cut.

“Oh my god. Oh my god. He’s bleeding.” Stan said as panic was crawling up his skin. He moved away from the injured kid and his young doctor.

“Eddie, do something.” Rosie said as she moved away from the two, as to not get any blood on herself. She noticed Richie standing close to the two and pulled him back by his elbow.

“You don’t want to know who fucking did this?” Richie questioned Rosie, noticing she has not asked them much about what had happened.

“Oh, I have an idea.” Rosie answered before focusing back on Eddie and Ben.

“You have to suck the wound before you apply the bandage. This is 101.” Richie said as he pushed up his sliding glasses.

“You don’t know what you’re talking about.” Eddie said as he finished putting on the bandage on Ben.

“Are you okay? That looks like it hurts.” Beverly said as she walked up to the group with Bill behind her.

“Oh, no I’m good.” Bill said as he pulled himself up. “I just fell.”

“Yeah! Right into Henry Bowers.” Richie said before Bill told him to shut up.

“Why? It’s the truth.” Richie said in retaliation.

“You sure they got the,” Beverly started as a smirk came on her face, “right stuff, to fix you up?”

Ben smiles at what Beverly had said. Rosie looked back and forth between Beverly and Ben before she smiled. They will look cute together, Rosie thought.

“You know, uh, w-w-we w-will take care of him.” Bill said. “Thanks again, Beverly.”

“Sure,” Beverly said, “maybe I’ll see you around.”

“Yeah, w-we were thinking about going to the q-q-q-quarry tomorrow.” Bill started saying to Beverly. “If — if you wanna go.”

“Will Rosie be there?” Beverly questioned as she looked towards Rosie.

“Definitely!” Richie said as he threw his arm around Rosie’s shoulder.

“I don’t want this second-hand invite.” Rosie moved away from Richie. “I’d like a proper invitation, with flowers and chocolate. And make sure the invite is engraved.” Rosie says as she claps her hands together.

“I’ll get it all for you, hotstuff.” Richie says as he moves closer to Rosie. “Should I get you roses?”

Rosie have Richie a look as she tried not to smile at him. Everyone looked at the two and let out a laugh except for Eddie who glared at Richie. He did not want to lose the one friend he had made outside of the loser’s club.

Richie and his loud trashmouth will run her out of this town, Eddie thought.

Beverly turns around and walks towards the open road before Rosie called out to her.

“Hey! Red! Wait for me!” Rosie shouts and Beverly stops in her tracks. “I’ll see you guys later.” Rosie waves at the five boys and runs after Beverly.

The two girls loop their arms together and turn to the main road. The brunette and the ginger walk towards Beverly’s house, chatting about nothing important. They reach Beverly’s house and the two say goodbye, but not before promising to call each other later.

Rosie walked home with a smile on her face. She was happy she had made friends with Beverly Marsh and the five boys. Rosie was almost home until she realized she had forgot to buy the supplies her mother had asked her to.

At the thought, Rosie did a U-turn and ran all the way to the pharmacy, where she found the boys, still at their spots, performing surgery on Ben.

Prompt: Write about how magic is the norm. Some excel at it, some are only okay, and others are against it completely, despite being able to use it. Your main character is the latter.

Everything comes at a cost. For a while humanity forgot that. But I am intimately aware of it... I still my pen for a second to collect my thoughts. The wording has to be just right.

"Hi hotstuff!" my best friend's smiling face suddenly appears floating in front of me. Magically, of course. I rush to cover the paper from sight. Her image is slightly obscured by a watermark of MagiCorp.

I sigh. "Amy, I asked you to stop doing this. At least use the ritual I showed you so it has a chance of being secure."

Her smile falters. "But....I missed you. And all that chanting business! It's just so...messy."

I close my eyes and take a breath. I resist the urge to have the same conversation we've had 20 times before.

"I'm kind of in the middle of something, Ames. What do you need?"

"What? Speaking to my best friend more than once a month is too much to ask now?" her voice is teasing, but I detect an undercurrent of hurt.

"No, listen. I've just been really busy with work. and things. I promise I can talk more after things calm down." I want to tell the most important person in my life about my work over the last couple of months, but I can't, especially not with the MagiCorp logo looming over me.

"Oh? Things? is that why you've been so secretive Taylor? Is there a special someone I should know about?"

I laugh in spite of myself. This is the first shred of human interaction I've had this week. "No, Ames. No special someone. I've got a pet project I've been working on. I might tell you about it later but-" I point to the MagiCorp logo.

She smiles indulgently. "Yes, I know how you are about your precious data."

I grimace. If I get myself arrested they'll have all the data they could ever want. And if I don't, there may not be many more conversations with Amy left. "Hey, listen. I've got some time off from work tomorrow. What do you say you and I got shopping together tomorrow? Wherever you want. My treat."

Her face lights up. "Really? Oh TayTay! I'd love to! Okay, well why don't I come pick...."

She continues talking but I'm already checked out, absently nodding along to whatever she says. I enchanted a parchment to record the last 5 minutes of conversation, so I can go back and look at that. Now I've got to finish this report before sunrise and...pack? I guess? I've never been on the run before, so I don't really know how it works.

As I say goodbye and cleanse the room, I pull out my paper and pen once more. The handwriting is sloppy and childish, but I can't trust even the spells I invented to be invulnerable to MagiCorp's reach. This is too important. I push away thoughts of tomorrow and begin to write again.

The next morning I find myself traipsing through broken sidewalks of our once beautiful city. For Amy it still is. She's wearing LookingGlasses™ which "enhance the urban experience to it's fullest potential". It means she doesn't see the dilapidated buildings and dark skies. It also means she doesn't see the homeless who have to huddle in imaginary statues and dark alleyways to avoid being ran into. I lock eyes with one of them. "Sorry" I mouth. They look away.

"Taylor? Did you see the new lampposts they added? Aren't they just quaint?"

I have to look up at her even though technically speaking I'm taller than her. "No." She floats several inches off the ground, her shoes enchanted with WalkSmart™.

She takes a break from glancing around in wonder to notice me several paces behind her picking my way through pot holes and around overgrown weeds. "Oh, honey, why don't you let me buy you a WalkSmart™ subscription? Here."

She begins making a series of gestures.

"Ames no!" I manage to make my way to her and grab her arm before she makes the final movement. She looks at me puzzled. "It took me forever to find shoes that weren't woven with magical ore, and even then it took me two weeks worth of cleansing rituals to get it completely mundane."

"Really? It's really that important to you?" her eyes take on a suspicious glint.

I nod solemnly and let go of her arm.

"Alright. Well, if this is the only day I'm going to spend with my best friend for the next 20 years, then there's no sense in me zooming ahead while you straggle behind." She moves too quickly for me to stop her and claps quickly twice.

She drops quickly to ground level and her knees almost buckle. I steady her.

I smile, warmed at the gesture. We're still being tracked, I know, but it's the thought that counts. "Well, if you're going to do that you'll want to-" I tap at my mundane glasses.

"Oh! Yes, I suppose that does make sense."

As she takes them off, she stops in her tracks. "Wow, I guess...I guess I hadn't realized how long it had been since I had been through here without magic."

I smile sadly and nod, "Yeah, since all of the people they cared about were wearing LookingGlasses™, they didn't really bother to keep the infrastructure up."

Her face falls some more.

"But hey! We can still have a good day! I do it all the time!" I loop my arm through hers and hope she can't tell how fake my enthusiasm is. I can already tell it's going to a long day.

I look in the mirror of one of the few mundane shops left in the city. Amy gasps. "Oh Taylor! It's gorgeous!"

She's not wrong. The hat makes my cheekbones look higher and my eyes look almost iridescent.

"You have to get it."
