Actually, this comic was inspired from a Calvin and Hobbes comic strip I read yesterday, where Calbin and Hobbes were in bed complaining about each other hogging the bed, and Calvin's Dad complains about them being quiet and going to sleep. This is my take on that comic strip. Nearly the same, except maybe for the few choice words that you'd never see Calvin or Hobbes say. LOL.

Dhabas are usually referred to as roadside restaurants in India, but they originated from North India (State of Punjab) and are called Punjabi Dhabas. They are a popular choice for tourists as they serve authentic North Indian food. However, dhabas have received criticism for their hygiene, but the popular ones maintain exceptional cleanliness and food safety standards, even surpassing those of five-star restaurants. In the past, most Indian parents had their meals from these dhabas before restaurants became more widespread. Dhabas in Bhubaneswar have recently grown to be much more popular in the state of Odisha.

Dhabas have been traditionally located on highways or near petrol stations, providing 24/7 service to truck drivers who need a break and a meal to fuel their journey. The origin of dhabas can be traced back to the construction of highways connecting major cities. While dhabas were once a niche, they have now gained popularity globally, with Punjabi emigrants opening dhabas in foreign countries as well.

Dhabas are a fantastic option if you're looking for an affordable and delicious meal in India. These roadside restaurants are believed to have originated in Punjab and are known for their homemade-style food. Unlike restaurants, Dhabas don't have a separate kitchen - food is cooked fresh and has a unique taste that's hard to resist. The Tandoori Roti, baked in a tandoor burning from coal, is a must-try item and is perfect to pair with any gravy. In Punjab, people usually go for Chicken Tikka Masala, Tandoori Roti, and Lassi (buttermilk), making it the perfect meal of the day. All of this is affordable - less than 100 rupees (1.7$). So, if you want to try authentic North Indian food and enjoy a unique dining experience, Dhabas are a great option.

It's unfortunate to see that dhabas are on the decline due to customers shifting to restaurants. The food served in dhabas is indeed healthier, cheaper, and safer than most restaurants, but some people still consider it a low standard compared to expensive restaurants. As a result, dhabas are losing customers, and they are now on the verge of shutting down. Currently, only truck drivers who can't afford to eat in restaurants frequently are the primary customers of dhabas.
