Seeing Eda acting like some kind of responsible adult is wild. Though not completely out of character. She has been taking her role as a mother more seriously as of late… and both of the kids under her wing (pun unintended, but hilarious nonetheless) have gone through a lot, Luz especially. Telling them that they need to find someplace to hide while the adults take care of the dangers is reasonable enough.
You know, one of the  reasons a lot of young protagonists have dead parents or abusive/neglectful parents/guardians is because most parents would try to stop their kids from going on dangerous adventures. This has been brought up in the show in the form of Camila. Luz fearing that if Camila ever found out about the Demon Realm, she wouldn’t let Luz go back there has been a thing ever since season one.
Contrast with Eda, who’s allowed Luz to go along on these dangerous, but exciting adventures… until now. I can see why Luz might not agree with Eda’s decision on this* but at the same time, I fully understand where Eda is coming from.
(*i can kinda see this leading to a moment where Luz is like ”You can’t tell me what to do, you’re not my mom,” or something like that and oof, that’d hurt Eda on a deep level)
Tumblr media
This image right here? Good shit.
Let’s break down this plan. Lilith suggests sending the kids off to the island to find out about King’s family and possibly gather powerful allies. That’s good. She suggests sending Hooty with them as protection. Which is not a great idea. The island is far away from the main body of the Titan, far away from Belos and danger, which is good. Unless there is danger on the island, which would be bad.
Luz suggests they can go there with the crew of the ship she journeyed with to slay the Selkidomus. Which is a god idea, they all liked Luz.
As the kids leave the room, Lilith says that she has already explored that area and that there is nothing there, dismissing the letter as some kind of prank. She does so with one of the best puns in the history of this show. A wild Luz chase. Brilliant, Lulu, brilliant.
…then again, she said that the island with King’s tower shouldn’t have been there either, soooo… and that rock thing he got in the letter is clearly some kind of key, soooooo…
Tumblr media
Aw man… everyone’s sad today, huh?
This is what I was talking about before. Luz and King being children really shouldn’t have to deal with all of this and Eda, who has realized how big this all is, is terrified of them getting hurt. On top of that, she feels a bit guilty for getting Luz involved in this. If only… if only she hadn’t left the portal open that one day, if only she had sent Luz home right away instead of involving her in the Confomratorium break-in, if only, if only. That kinda thinking isn’t going to do much to help in the now, but it is understandable that she feels this way.
Oh, and Lilith? i admire your optimism, but one(1) week to come up with a plan to overthrow a tyrant who controls the entire military and everyone with magical powers is… not a lot. Especially when all you have to work with are two(2) middle-aged witches who can’t use magic (though one has a cool harpy form) and maybe like… Gwendolyn is pretty strong I guess? Dunno about Dell, he seems pretty frail. What other adults might be on their side… There’s Raine, Darius and Eberwolf, but they’re doing their own thing. Alador, maybe (I’m still holding out hope he has some override to turn all the Abomatons against the Emperor). Maybe Gus & Willow’s parents. The Bat Queen, possibly (her leading an army of palismen against Belos might be kinda cool actually).
Tumblr media
Yarr me mateys, Luz is back to being a pirate! Call her Monkey D. Luzzy.
(i’ve been sitting here for like five minutes giggling at my own pun. who gave me the right to be so funny?)
The captain of the ship, Salty, says that his mateys had to leave the ship after they no longer worked for the Golden Guard. Like Eda said back in Separate Tides, the Emperor’s ships are the only ones worth robbing. So i guess even Salty the sea captain doesn’t get to be happy in this episode.
Hooty mentions that large rock formation on the island kinda looks like a finger, which I briefly considered saying before when I saw the drawing, but didn’t. I also thought it looked a little like one of King’s horns, although the shape is different. Upon closer look, it does looks more like a finger.
Looking at one of the few shots we get of the Titan’s whole body I notice that we don’t get to see the Titan’s left arm or hand. So that part of its body might be submerged and this is one of its fingers sticking out of the water. Unless… there was a mention once of there being remains of other massive creatures on the boiling sea, but only partial ones. This could be one of those as well. The finger bone of some other massive, long-dead creature. Another Titan? Or something else?
Tumblr media
And tonight on ”If The Lampman had waited just a few more seconds…” Salty confirms that this is not part of the Titan. He says it’s ”a different bestie.” Which kinda makes it sound like it’s a completely different creature, unrelated to the Titan… though I think it might still be another Titan.

Here are my thoughts on For The Future!
As soon i finished watching the episode, I reblogged a bit then went to bed, but here it is. And yes, there's plenty of spoilers:
No surprises that The Collector went and transformed the Boiling Isles into Weirdmageddon, a la kiddie cosmic style!
Of course, Raine would get flustered over Harpy Eda, who wouldn't?
Poor Hunter, he has every right to be on edge, he just lost his first ever friend and now he has to switch into vengeance mode!
Camila getting used to the Isles, at least she thinks it's not so bad!
Luz, we all make mistakes, no need to keep making yourself miserable so that the others are okay.
Fuck you Belos, you are so dead! And Caleb & the past Golden Guards will drag your moldy ass down with them!
Ofc, The Collector's trying to recreate Luz's adventures (and possibly her life too?)
Sorry Terra, but you had it coming!
New Hexside being used as a safe house & frickin' Man-Tholomule! Also, glad to know Edric & Emira are okay-ish!
Suck it Mamadalia!
Is the scribbled part of the storybook supposed to seal The Collector again or... ???
Why am I NOT surprised that Boscha's leading New Hexside, along with newbies Miki & Roka.
Whew, good to know King, Eda & Lilith are safe for now!
Poor Hooty, hope he & Lulu have a happy reunion in the finale. And Eda sneaking around the castle just to check in on Raine? MY HEART!!!
"I need a new body". Aw shit, here we go again!
Me glaring at Odalia: IT SHOULD'VE BEEN YOU! Seriously, even Belos wanted nothing to do w/her, that's how god awful she is, but WHY RAINE?!?!?! Like they haven't had enough to deal with already!
I KNEW GUS KNEW HUNTER WAS A GRIMWALKER THE WHOLE TIME!!!!!
Willow having a Pink Steven-type breakdown. Sweetie, you're 15, you don't always need to be the voice of reason. You can't fix everyone's problems, w/o acting like your own don't matter. Sometimes, whatever it is that you're feeling, you just gotta let it all out!
HOW TF DID I NOT KNOW IT WAS KIKIMORA & BOSCHA WHO'RE IN CAHOOTS???
Mama Camila knocking "Kiki-miki's" Belos-wannabe punkass out with the bat! She's the best!!!
Boscha, Amity was never happy being a bully, that was all her mom's bidding! Leave her the hell alone and live with it! However, le gasp, exes???
Of course Belos!Raine's gonna trick The Collector!
At least King's trying his best to figure out a way to reason with The Collector and not having to seal the kid again, or worse!
Camila & Luz's heart to heart, hits right in the feels!
The egg has hatched! STRING BEAN, YOU SWEET SNAKEY SNEK SHAPESHIFTER!!!
Hunter & "The Magic of Friendship?" Does this mean thanks to Flapjack, he can use magic like the others now or at least have some kind of Harpy form like Eda? I just want my child to have wings, okay???
HUNTLOW NATION, ALL WE DO IS WIN!!! Now kiss!
Even if Boscha's "just doing it for her teammates", at least she's doing some good... for now!
"I think I wanna play a new game." This kid is crazy jealous of Luz's friendship with King, huh?
So much for a Luz, King, & Eda reunion. Le sigh, I guess good things really do come to those who wait!
And that's that, for now. I'm really upset that the finale's coming up soon, I wished we had more time with these amazing characters but a certain evil corporation (and plenty of other shithole companies lately) has to go and ruin everything! Either way, can't wait to see how it all plays out next time!

DOING AN ENTIRE CHARACTER ASK SHEET FOR SKARA AND WILLOW BECAUSE I CAN PART 1 (Questions 1-10)
1. Canon I outright reject
You know how in Sense and Insensitivity there’s that bit where Skara kisses the King cardboard cutout and runs away with it? That bit that made that one Sking shipper a thing? Yeah, so this is a really mean prank played by either the twins or Boscha using an illusion, and Skara only ever thought Rulers Reach was ok. My evidence for this is the fact that I will personally beat you to death if you imply my daughter did Titan-knows-what with a standee of an 8-year-old cat-dog-hybrid.
While I’m at it, let’s also make it clear that she was never living furniture for an adult man either. Again, that was a prank because N O.
Tumblr media
(Can you guess why Sense is my third worst episode of the show?)
Literally the second half of Any Sport has Willow acting so OOC you’d swear it has to be a really bad fanfiction. She gets kidnapped by the same dude who spent the entire afternoon lying to her about who he was, threatened not one but two of her best friends in his last appearance, and works as the second-in-command of a fascist religious order she canonically rallied the Isles against, and she… blames herself for it. She has the opportunity to defend her friends against Darius and put up a real fight, and instead she does some of her weakest magic in the show so Hunter can swoop in and save her. And in the last 30 seconds of the episode she just casually tells shows off the pic of the Entrails with Hunter like it wouldn’t cause Amity to go into a PTSD-inspired rage. I literally rewrote the entirety of the episode in my head, but if I can’t reject the whole episode, I’m at least rejecting its second half.
(Can you guess why Any Sport is my top choice for worst episode of the show?)
2. A canon or headcanon hill I will die on
Skara is a chaotic bisexual gremlin and you can’t convince me otherwise. If chaotic bisexual gremlin energy could be used as a power source, Skara would be the only battery the world would ever need.
Tumblr media
A slightly more serious Skara head cannon I have is that she left Boscha because Skara wanted to apologize to Willow, and Boscha not only refused to join her but outright mocked her for it, leading Skara to go do it herself. She never spoke to Boscha after that day unless she had to.
Willow has a lovely singing voice and sings to her plants when she waters them. It’s part of why Skara fell so hard for her. She hears it one while walking past the Plant Track room and thought to herself ‘Wow I really am a chaotic bisexual gremlin.’
3. Obscure headcanon
Skara is a great chef. She loves to cook and bakes for her friends all the time. I have no evidence for this other than the fact I think it sounds adorable.
Willow didn’t go to H.A.S. in the first season only because she would go straight home to work out most of the time. In reality she loved learning about humans, even if she had more of an understanding then Gus that most Witch information was probably a stretch.
4. Favorite line
“Good game Willow.”-Skara, in her one positive interaction with Willow in Wing it.
“I’m a sneaky sneakster.”-Willow’s most adorable line, from Hooty’s Moving Hassle.
Tumblr media
“Not if I don’t look down.”-Willow, casually dropping the funniest line in the entire first season during Escape of the Palismen.
5. Best personality trait
For Skara it’s her ability to accept responsibility and grow from her mistakes. It’s a difficult thing to do, to admit you were wrong for so long. It’s not something that came naturally to her either: she had to work hard at it, and it was a painful process. But Skara did, and now she’s a teacher cause she wants to help other kids avoid her mistakes while learning the same lessons.
For Willow, it’s her kindness and unwavering defense of her friends. She’s always looking out for everyone, always doing whatever it takes to make sure they’re safe and cared about and know that. It’s a trait she always had, but it grew over time as she matured into a true blue protector.
6. Worst personality trait
For Skara, it’s her guilt. Her self reflection has sadly burdened her with a deep sense of shame for her bullying, and while she never bullied anyone after she leaves Boscha, she still hates herself sometimes for how she used to be, something that causes her to become more reserved and isolated. Willow can tell when she gets like this though, and always tries to remind her that her past is in the past, and she’s moved on to become a better person.
For Willow, it’s her inability to regulate her own needs. She gets better at it with time, but even after Future she still can’t always take time to just think of her own feelings. She’ll push herself till breaking point until one of her friends reminds her it’s ok to care about herself for a bit.
7. Age/height/weight headcanon
Sometimes I see a bunch of Willow art I wonder if it’s a headcannon that she was ever chubbier than Amity or Luz, given how often people seem to make her just as skinny…
Tumblr media
Skara is the taller of the two, even if most of that extra height is her hair, something she’ll playfully tease Willow about from time to time. Thankfully Willow has the advantage of being less of a full blown simp, so she can easily pull Skara down to her height for a kiss.
8. Unpopular opinion about them
Skara was never as big a bully as Boscha. She was A bully, and I don’t want to deny that, but I think it’s canonically wrong when people make her to be as bad as Boscha. It was clear throughout that she could tell when Boscha was going too far, and there’s a few moments where she seems even scared of Boscha, like when they run into her during the King segment in Swap or when Boscha’s about to burn Luz alive in Wing It.Most likely, Amity bullied Willow because she felt she had to, and Boscha bullied her because Amity did, and later because she felt Willow stole Amity from her, while Skara, Cat, and Amelia probably just stuck to the sidelines because they wanted to be accepted by the others. Again, it isn’t cool, and I know that Skara feels like garbage for how she acted to this day, but please don’t act like Skara was as big a bully as Boscha.
Everyone used to act like Gus was the character who deserved more respect from the show, deserved more story’s, but really, it was Willow who got shafted in the end. Gus has 3 unquestioned spotlight episodes (Something Ventured, Looking Glass, and Labyrinth Runners), he drives two subplots (Understanding Willow and Grom), and eventually even steals Willow’s bits, like her glowing eyes (I know Dana said it’s a thing all Witches can do under intense emotion but that’s a retcon and we all know it). In contrast, Willow seems like she has more, but she honestly kinda doesn’t. Sure, there’s Teenage Abomination and Hooty’s Moving Hassle which are good and perfectly Willow centric, but then things get a lot fuzzier. Understanding Willow would be better named Understanding Willow’s Relationship with Amity Primarily through Amity’s Lens, Wing It is solid but mostly used to drive Lumity, her only real moments in season 2A were getting Clover in Hunting Palisman and having all her bones broken in Looking Glass, Any Sport PRETENDS to be about Willow, but in the end is more about Hunter then any other of his team up episodes, to the point the second half spends most of its time making Willow weak and self loathing JUST SO HUNTER COULD LOOK LIKE A HERO, her subplot in Labyrinth feels a lot worse when you remember that Any Sport actually proves that Amity was completely right to think Willow couldn’t fight the Emperors Coven (also Willow shows more anger towards Amity here then she ever did to Hunter which is cool, totally fine, not aneurism causing at all), and honestly, as nice as it was to see Willow have a bit of an emotional arc in Future, it was more a way to get Hunter a girlfriend then anything (also the fact it’s pretty much a complete ripoff of Luz’s own arc in Reaching Out). In less words and as less of a ramble, Willow may technically have more stuff then Gus, but honestly, Gus stories are actually about Gus, while Willow stories are almost exclusively used for other people’s development, whether it be Amity’s, Lumity, or *sigh* Hunter’s. And I wanted her to be more than that.
Also, Willow can be angry. Like, really, genuinely, righteously angry. She’s a someone who spent her whole childhood being bullied by her former bestie and unironically was willing to BURN HER MEMORIES AND THOUGHTS ALIVE TO DESTROY SAID FORMER BESTIE (technically that was Inner Willow but still). It seems like people kinda just forget that though. Hell, the show seems to, what with stuff like her, like I said, getting more mad at Amity in Labyrinth then Hunter in Any Sport.
Tumblr media
(Also Skarlow is better than Huntlow but you can read my blog to see that so.)
9. Scene that first made me love (or hate) the character
For Skara, it was probably her at Grom. It’s such a hilarious bit, her going from a swooning teenage girl on a date to Magic Prom to her just getting so damn into the fight. That tux looks expensive and she rips it off of her like it’s nothing in a fit of bloodlust. And there’s just something so endearing about her Grom photos too. I love (most) of her earlier stuff too of course but Grom to me is the peak of Skara.
Tumblr media
For Willow, I don’t know the exact moment, but it was probably somewhere early on, almost certainly around seeing her go from green eyed at Amity’s bullying to apologizing and rushing to help Luz from her plants. I love characters who are both adorable and badass and I think that’s what Willow, at her best, is.
10. Best moment on screen (or in the book)
Skara’s best moment would been her redemption arc if she had one, but otherwise I’d say, again, it’s Grom. Just, *chefs kiss* The best.
Willow has a lot of actually good moments, and I originally answered this question a while ago with her during Understanding, but thinking more on it, I think the best moment for Willow is really her and Amity in Follies. It’s an incredibly minor moment, something you’d be forgiven for forgetting happens if you haven’t seen it in a while, but looking back it’s all of Willow’s best traits in one scene: Her ability to go from intimidating to adorable in a matter of seconds, her emotional maturity in helping Amity with her problems (even if that bits offscreen for shock purposes), actually confirming she works out in the show instead of just saying it in an AMA, her complicated feelings about Amity… there’s like, so much in this one scene that embodies why Willow Park is amazing and deserves all the love.
This… took longer to write then I thought and was a lot more rambly then I expected. Still, hope you enjoyed, and I’ll try to do the next 10 questions sometime soon.

Fortunes of Love Pt 5 (Eda x OC)
Summary: Niliana has a long night ahead of her.
Pt 1 Pt 2 Pt 3  Pt 4 Pt 5
It was late into the night and the house had gone dark, the only light coming from the orbs floating around the ceiling in the living room. Luz and King had gone to bed hours ago after saying their goodnights. They had wondered if they could give Eda a hug goodnight but a warning growl kept them away, at least for now. Nily had no doubt they would attempt it again in the future.
Despite the late hour, Niliana couldn’t go to sleep. Not that she didn’t want to. Her eyes stung from exhaustion, lids drooping often, and she felt like she could drop off at any time. But she couldn’t sleep thanks to the giant owl monster in the house.
At the very least, she wasn’t screeching at everything. If she made any sound it was a soft chirp or coo, which meant she wouldn’t wake the other two up. Unfortunately, she grew bored of playing with the little bubbles of light and instead turned her attention to the only other thing of interest in the room, Niliana.
She had tried working on her stuffed animal at first and for a little bit Eda just stared from across the room, still hesitant to approach the witch. Still, when she was attempting to grab more fabric from her box the owl beast was suddenly approaching her, scooting over a bit before pausing to gauge her reaction then scooting over a bit more until she was by the witch’s side. Nily froze, only watching as Eda sniffed at the sewing box, chirping curiously.
Then she tried to eat the box.
Nily moved the box away before she could, giving a gentle but firm, “no”. Eda blinked at her owlishly, then looked back to the box with a grumbling sort of sound before trying to eat it again. Nily moved it out of the way again with a sigh, putting all her supplies away and vanishing the box with a flick of her wrist. Eda stared at where the box had been for a moment before looking back to Nily, head tilted to the side and a little whine escaping her throat.
“Sorry, hun.” Nily said, giving the beast a comforting smile. “You can’t eat my box.”
Eda whined again, ears drooping. She just looked so sad Nily couldn’t help but chuckle at her. Eda’s ears perked up at the sound.
“I guess I should find some blankets and stuff, huh?”
Eda didn’t reply, just kept on staring. Nily sighed, hefting herself to her feet and stretching. Her body made a few odd pops as she stretched, making Nily groan. Man, she was feeling old today.
She decided to search for bedding in the downstairs hallway, creating an orb of light to see what she was doing. She went through a few different doors, mostly closets and what looked like a workshop, before finding the right closet. The shelves were filled with various moth-eaten blankets, most looking quite run down. She let out an irritated little huff, pushed up her sleeves, and got to work sorting through all the worn fabric. As she worked she could hear Eda shifting about in the other room, grumbling and chirping to herself. The thudding footsteps soon found their way into the hallway she was in and she could feel her hot breath on her neck.
Finally, she found a few blankets that weren’t too terrible and even a pillow. She dragged them off the shelves, doing her best to try and keep the others in place. It wasn’t like the closet was tidy to begin with, but she preferred not to move a whole lot, especially since it wasn’t her house.
She turned around, coming face to face with Eda. She didn’t jump purely because she already knew the beast was there, but her heart still skipped a beat at just how close she was.
“Hello dear.” Nily found herself saying, even though she was sure Eda wasn’t quite able to understand her. Of course, now she had the issue of getting past the giant creature so she could put her find on the couch. She would probably be sleeping there for the next couple of nights. She tried shooing her away but she didn’t budge, just blinked at her. So, she tried to shove past her as gracefully as possible. Technically, it did work as far as she got past Eda, but she came out the other side with her hair messed, well, more than usual at least, and covered in stray feathers. It was only then that Eda turned around to continue following the witch.
Nily dropped her load onto the couch, desperately attempting to comb her hair with her fingers and get it back into the resemblance of tidy. It was rather difficult, considering all the kinks and knots that had accumulated over the day.
Eda started pacing from one end of the room to the other, occasionally glancing over to the witch on the other side of the room, occasionally glancing at the shiny orbs, and occasionally glancing at her feet as she walked. Her wings stretched as far as they could go, nowhere near their full length, before falling back to her side with a rustle of feathers. Nily watched her curiously as she laid the blankets and pillow out.
Niliana sat down on her makeshift bed, just hoping it would be enough to let her sleep for a few hours or so. She laid down with a sigh, dragging the blankets over herself and shifting to face the back of the couch. She yawned, long and wide, and tried to go to sleep.
And Eda kept pacing and ruffling her feathers and making an odd noise here and there. At first, Nily felt that she could ignore it. But then time passed and the pacing never did stop and it became far more distracting the harder Nily tried to ignore it. She gave up when the pacing stopped and she felt herself being nudged by a large hand. She sighed. It was his fault, really. She shouldn’t have expected to get sleep sharing the room with a giant nocturnal monster.
She rolled over, glaring up at the creature who loomed over her. Eda made a sort of cooing sound, nudging her again. She sighed.
“Alright, alright, I’m getting up.”
So she did, debating what she was supposed to do now. Eda was rather fidgety, that much was clear. Perhaps she needed to go out for a while, get some energy out. But it wasn’t like she could just go running off into the night! Anything could happen! She could attack someone wandering in the dark, Nily could lose sight of her and she’d never return, she could get caught or killed, really, the possibilities were endless.
But then again, staring at the poor creature as she continued her fidgeting about, it would be cruel to force her to stay in the house. So, she thought it over a bit more before giving a nod. Yes, that was an idea.
She drew a circle in the air and for a moment it sat there, shimmering. Eda glared at it, giving a little hiss, but then cocking her head to the side in confusion when the ring of light vanished and it appeared that nothing had happened. It took her a moment to notice the color around her neck, glowing faintly in the dark. She growled at it, tried prying it off with her claws but it was firmly in place.
She was distracted when Niliana got up, stretching and heading for the door. She grabbed her staff from where it had been resting against the wall and looked back.
“Come on, dear.” she said, opening the front door.
“What exactly are you doing?” The door spoke in the most irritating voice Niliana could have possibly imagined. She looked on the other side, where Hooty appeared to be attempting to glare at her. “You told me to keep Eda in the house.”
“And now we’re going for a walk. Unless, of course, you want her destroying the house.”
“Mmmmmmmmmmmm, okay!” He all but shouted. Nily looked back into the house, smiling at the owl beast who just kept staring.
“Come.” She said, beckoning to Eda. She crowed from inside, shifting from one foot to the other. Then, ever so slowly, she approached the door herself, sniffing at the night air, so much fresher than inside. She gave a screech of delight, hopping outside and running in a big circle. She was finally able to stretch out, her wings extending to their full height and her claws digging into the soft earth. She gave a few powerful flaps, sending the leaves around her flying in the draft. Black eyes turned back to the witch who was walking towards her.
“Go on.” Nily motioned towards the woods. “Run off. I’ll keep an eye on things.”
She didn’t need any encouragement, of course. She had taken off before the witch had finished speaking.
Nily followed on her staff or at least did her best to follow.
---------------------------------
In the morning, Luz didn’t run down the stairs like she usually did. She had enough self-control to be a bit quieter, just in case Eda was sleeping. Sure enough, when she peeked into the living room she could see the owl beast fast asleep, curled up in the middle of the room. She smiled, eyes shimmering with delight.
“So cuuuuute!” She whisper-screamed. For a moment she wondered if she could get away with booping her nose or petting her. Instead, she went to the kitchen for breakfast.
Niliana leaning back against the counter, her head in her hands. She looked up when Luz walked in, managing a faint smile. Even the oblivious teenage girl could see she was tired. It was in the way she held herself and the circles under her eyes.
“Hey, hun.”
“Hi, Nily!” Luz chirped, just as bright and happy as ever. “Do you want me to make breakfast?”
The witch debated it for a moment, a hand coming up to rub her hands. Ultimately, she decided she was too exhausted to make anything properly.
“Alright, if you want. Let me know if you need my help.”
“Okay!”
Luz wasn’t the best cook, but there were a few things she was pretty good at. One of those things just happened to be pancakes and luckily they had everything she needed to whip some up for everyone.
She was just starting to mix everything together, Nily keeping an eye on her, when the two witches heard a squeak from the living room. A moment later King appeared in the kitchen doorway, looking like he was trying to hide how shaken he was. Luz had a smirk on her face, trying not to giggle as the little demon went and sat at the table.
“Hey, King.”
“Yeah? What do you want?”
“What, uh … What was that sound we heard?”
King huffed and crossed his arms.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“Really? You sure about that?”
King gave a decisive nod.
“Cause it sounded to me like you squeaked. Like a little squeaky toy!” Luz's voice got louder as she tried harder to not just outright laugh at him.
“I am not a squeaky toy! I just … I forgot about Eda for a moment and was maybe caught a little off guard.” He finally admitted.
Luz finally laughed, almost spilling some of the batter. Nily just smiled a tired smile.
During breakfast, Luz informed everyone that she was going out with her friends today. They were going to practice some of their magic in the woods. Nily nodded and accepted it. She let them know she was going to take a nap before going out herself. She needed to grab some of her things and maybe check out a book or two on beastkeeping. King volunteered to keep an eye on Eda while everyone was out. Nily was hesitant to leave him alone with the owl beast but eventually gave in. She was probably going to be sleeping the whole time anyway and it wouldn’t take her long to get her things.
So, they all left to do their own things. Nily yawned as she settled on the couch, dragging the worn blankets over her shoulders. Nearby, Eda slept fitfully after a long night of running and flying about. The witch fell asleep quickly to the sound of her grumbling snores.

A Visual Reference guide to my thoughts through Wing it Like Witches
This is a visual guide of my reactions to Wing it Like Witches, written with notes I took during the episode that were typically stream of consciousness.
Okay, so we have another episode this week! Well, I wonder what they’re going to do. I mean some ships have been one-episode affairs and... Molly Ostertag helped write this one.
Let’s roll!
Tumblr media
Scorpia?! Aw, no, never mind...
Tumblr media
Sportsball? What’s sportsball?
Tumblr media
HEY IT’S NOT SAD! LOTS OF US MAKE FRIENDS OUT OF-- Well, not plants...LOOK JUST BECAUSE SOME OF US TALK TO...COMPUTERS...AND VEHICLES...AGH
Tumblr media
[GASP] AMITY WHOO! Wait what are you up to--?
Tumblr media
“I used to be like you; obsessed with status, challenging my competition, but I grew up. When will you?”
Tumblr media
Aww! I’m so proud!
Tumblr media
Literal school spirits? I’m not sure how I feel about that.
Tumblr media
“Gory Days” doesn’t phase me at all. I’m just wondering how many bodies she’s buried.
Wait a minute did she say cheating? Oh no this had better not be a cheating episode--
Tumblr media
“Cheating isn’t anything to brag about. How do you know how good you are if all you do is cheat?”
...Luz that’s a good point.
Tumblr media
“Well, can’t reason with crazy!”
Tumblr media
Okay, Eda, King is right, that rat didn’t look healthy. CLEAN YOUR FRAKKING HAIR!
Tumblr media
The spirit and Hooty should make friends sometime. Probably wouldn’t end well though...
Tumblr media
“Over fifty years ago, the emperor appointed a head witch to each coven” WAIT DON’T TRAIL OFF I NEED BACKSTORY MAN!
Tumblr media
Hey, who didn’t use movies as guides in high school?
Tumblr media
Not food. NOT FOOD.
Tumblr media
WAIT A MINUTE, WILLOW FEVER?! IS THAT PIECE A CHARM OR SOMETHING?! WILLOW SAY IT ISN’T SO
Tumblr media
Oh, it’s just a bully.
Tumblr media
[pulls out gun] NOBODY MAKES MY KIDS SAD. Where the heck’s the teacher?!
Well I mean it is the Boiling Isles...
Tumblr media
WAIT A MINUTE, WAIT A MINUTE...THEY ACTUALLY HAD A TEACHER INVOLVED?! I can’t tell if he’s just trying to draw her attention or...ah nuts.
Tumblr media
OH MY GOD A HIGH SCHOOL KID INVENTED A NEW SLUR?!
Tumblr media
“She got away with murder? I can’t say I approve but I’m glad she’s trying new things!” Hey, up yours Back-to-the-Future-teacher! Unfortunately, this is actually being played in a realistic way. This is a problem some schools have, it’s not a movie cliche. I’ve heard reddit stories like this, with the popular kids, especially the sports kids, getting support and are allowed to get away with everything.
Tumblr media
[GASP] WELL DEAR VIEWERS, THIS IS WHY WE’RE ALL HERE!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
OH MY GOD AMITY IS BEING SO AWKWARD IT’S ADORABLE
Tumblr media
“YES I CAN HELP!...With what exactly?” oh my god that’s adorable.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Luz gets close and Amity starts backing up oh my god!
Tumblr media
Luz oh my god what the hell
Tumblr media
Wait is Amity thinking the same thing I am or--
Tumblr media
...okay good
Tumblr media
Hm, what’s mom doing back at the house?
Tumblr media
Hm, the 90s motive might actually hint that she’s been exploring earth for a while--
Tumblr media
HOOTY GET OUT
Tumblr media Tumblr media
WHAT THE YOTZ I WAS NOT EXPECTING HER SUBPLOT TO DO THIS
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Okay that jacket looks really good on Eda. I like the contrast it adds. Also she was just mirroring her wanted poster pose.
Tumblr media
Okay, what’s Lily got this time? Hah, look at Eda...
Tumblr media
Oh my god they’re such siblings. I love how she’s just ignoring her.
Tumblr media
[SPIT-TAKE] “--THE HELL DID SHE JUST SAY?! ‘The emperor has big plans for the isles’?!”
Tumblr media
EDA LILY IS BEING GRUMPY AND PLOT RELEVANT
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Oh no...memory? “Why can’t you remember me...?”
Tumblr media
I do love how Eda is just doing things for the heck of it half the time.
Tumblr media
It’s refreshing that the sport they’re good at isn’t stereotypically “feminine”, like it’s not cheerleading or something. It’s the regular sports stuff
Tumblr media
WHAT THE FRELL?!
Tumblr media
CANTALOUPE GUY SHUT UP
Tumblr media
OH NO OH NO LUZ GENRE SAVVINESS CAN BE A CURSE WATCH OUT
Tumblr media
“Me?” ...what.
Tumblr media
“On...a team...with you?” WHAT.
Tumblr media
“Running around in cute uniforms?” OH WOW
Tumblr media
“Sweating?!” THEY WENT THERE?!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
“...I gotta go!” THEY WENT THERE!
Tumblr media
“So...how do we play this game?” Luz, you’re a girl after my own heart. This is my friends and I trying to decode sportsball.
Tumblr media
Huh. how about that minefield. At this point I’m hardened. Nothing’s gonna surprise me now.
Tumblr media
HAH! ROCKY
Tumblr media Tumblr media
What. The frell.
Tumblr media
“What happens in the montage stays in the montage!” OKAY OKAY
Tumblr media
WHAT THE YOTZ IS KING WEARING AND HOW IS HE PULLING IT OFF
Tumblr media
This is gonna end with one heck of a sibling fistfight.
Tumblr media
“She’s one of the best friends I’ve ever had” oh, kid, that hits me hard.
Tumblr media
OH GOD IS THIS KOHLII? I’M HAVING MASK OF LIGHT FLASHBACKS AAAAAAAAA
Tumblr media
HOW’D SHE GET A DVD?! Hm the way she hesitates, and the fact that Gus tried to eat the DVD, I wonder if that means it's not a movie here
Tumblr media
Hm, now leadership is an interesting thing, how do you know how far to push the people following you--?
Tumblr media
AAAHH WHAT THE FRELL
Tumblr media
SHE’S BLUSHING AND I LOVE BACKSTORIES TOO
Tumblr media
“I know how to make it up to Willow.” [throws a grenade]
Tumblr media
HOW MANY BODIES ARE BURIED HERE
Tumblr media
“She can be so stupid...which i love…”
Tumblr media
“I MEAN HATE” PFFF HAHAHAHAHAH
Tumblr media
“Which is sweet…”
Tumblr media
“AND I HATE IT. AND IT’S DUMB” OH MY GOD
Tumblr media
Oh god that IV tower hurts.
Tumblr media
What the frell. Welp, I have seen into the void.
Tumblr media
EDA WHAT THE YOTZ?!
Tumblr media
WHAAAAAAAA HAHAHAHA
Tumblr media
“I’ll be waiting.” UH...
Tumblr media
WHOOOO!
Tumblr media
WHAT SOCIAL LIFE?!
Tumblr media
SHE’S LOOKING INTO HER EYES WHO’S TALLER OH MY GOD
Tumblr media
DA FRAK FIRE MAGIC?! WHOO!
Tumblr media
Well I thought there would be a fistfight. I didn’t think it would be between Amity and Boscha.
Tumblr media
HOLY CRAP THEY SURVIVED WITHOUT ANY INJURIES...Hey where’s Amity-
Tumblr media
THE WHAT
Tumblr media
THE SNITCH?!
Tumblr media
I mean wow yeah quidditch freaking sucks.
Tumblr media
OH NO AMITY NO NO NO
Tumblr media
“Are you sure you’re okay? I could help carry you if it really hurts…”
Tumblr media
“HAHAHA I’M FINE! WHO’S AMITY?!”
Tumblr media
Lesbian.exe has stopped working. Oh you poor girl.
Tumblr media
“And scoop!” OH MY GOD
“Oh...wow...sports…”
Tumblr media
SHE’S STILL HOLDING HER UP- NERD ARMS INDEED
Tumblr media
Mom’s scoping out her daughter’s new girlfriend…
I am actually really enjoying how accurate of a high school experience this feels like. It feels a lot like my own. Minus the magic of course. This episode wasn’t as extreme of a Lumity overload as the last, but prom episodes are usually stuffed with that sort of thing. This episode was great nevertheless.

Wing it like Witches!
Let me tell you- I was WORRIED this episode would make me sad and angsty, but instead it just made me happy and all warm inside! I know that sounds super-corny but like…
I LOVED this episode! I was worried from the promo pic that Boscha’s bullying would really get to Luz, Gus, and Willow, but… It didn’t! I mean, it still got to WILLOW hence the entire episode, but otherwise Luz and Gus were less “Wow I’m really being reminded of my insecurities from bullying” and more “I can’t believe she ACTUALLY did that. She wasted her entire school day doing that. This girl is NUTS, is she okay back home?”
(The more I see of Boscha, the more I have to wonder if she IS okay back home… Obviously not crippled with self-loathing to the extent that Amity is, but never mind.)
What’s really surprise to see though; LILITH IS A RED-HEAD!?!? I remember seeing that first pic of young Eda with two other classmates, one of whom was obscured and the other had glasses; And I thought, is THAT girl Lilith, could it be? Is the girl with the obscured face the one who stole Lilith’s lunch money, potentially that favorite character from Season 2 that Dana alluded to? My mind is racing, but either way young Eda and Lilith are utterly adorable! I do have to wonder if what Lilith had to say about Eda’s bad memory was just a jab, or something more… Given that the show has alluded to Eda possibly having amnesia with MORE than just her curse…!
Speaking of which; LILITH AND EDA GETTING ALONG! Well, sort of- I mean they’re technically adversarial by the end of this episode, but only technically. Lilith knows where the Owl House is, finally; And we get to see in this episode just how capable Hooty really IS as a security system, surprisingly enough! He even manages to capture LILITH; Though to be fair, she may not have been super-invested in the mission given this was her sister we’re talking about, but still! Coupled with Hooty mercilessly tearing apart those toys in Adventures in the Elements, and I have to wonder if he’s ever, like… KILLED people before, y’know?
…Maybe I don’t want that answer. Regardless, I love Luz’s little cheeky interference with Eda’s game, but Eda still manages to win by her last trick; Just pure, genuine skill and talent! That was a twist, I was expecting Eda to have another cheat or to be caught by Lilith, but as I said before… Eda isn’t humble, and for a GOOD reason! Lilith ain’t no slouch either, and I love that King willingly donned a cheerleader outfit just to offer support! I mean, maybe Eda MADE him, but otherwise he didn’t seem to have much of an issue so long as it was just at home!
And… I LOVE the little small moments between Eda and Lilith, where… Lilith KNOWS she has to turn her sister in, she’s getting desperate, but it’s also low-key breaking her heart to do this! And when she loses the match and just… FALLS on her knees in despair, questioning herself, and Eda picking her up? Giving her that signature ring, just to make Lilith look better? I… I LOVE these sisters, why can’t they make up?! Lilith isn’t even aiming to imprison Eda, she just wants her to join the Emperor’s Coven and continue doing stuff alongside her, like old times!
And Eda… Eda still needs her autonomy, but she knows that Lilith isn’t some cruel person. She knows that Lilith loves her sister and wants the best, that she’s in a terrible position; Eda knows how stifling the Coven System is, and while being beneath Belos provides a lot of power… It also provides a lot of PRESSURE as well! Sure, Lilith chose this… But Eda still believes that Lilith is deserving of kindness and compassion!
(Let me tell you, considering I don’t think we’ve seen any Eda clips past this episode, I was LEGIT afraid she’d get captured by the end… thank goodness!)
What’s also fascinating to note is that Emperor Belos was in charge since fiftyyears ago; Given the speculation that Eda isn’t as old as she looks, this indicates Belos is PRETTY old himself, by a large margin; Especially when one considers how long-lived Bump is! It’s a small moment telling us how he established the Coven Heads five decades ago, but I really appreciated it; And in general, this episode seems to be our final, light-hearted breather before we get into the REALLY heavy stuff… Keep in mind, our last two episodes were originally planned to air side-by-side, like a two-part season finale! On a lesser note, we see the Heximal System teacher giving a History lesson, confirming what I suspected earlier; That some subjects include students from all tracks, simply because the subject-matter applies across any and all covens, and History is one of them! Love the small world-building here!
Given how we don’t see anything else of Willow and Gus past that scene in Belos’ treasury, I have to wonder… What if those two get captured, and only Luz can escape? Amidst King –and possibly Eda- being taken as well, Luz might be looking at a one-man operation here! Which just makes her all the more impressive… Like looking at her now, even if she DOES lose against Lilith; She’d still have been going toe-to-toe with the Head of the Emperor’s Coven, even if only briefly! Luz has come a far way away from where she started as just a powerless human, and has amassed FOUR glyphs; Light, Ice, Plant, and Fire!
And BOY HOWDY is she good at them! Seriously, I bet she could’ve easily beaten Boscha in a Witch’s Duel if she wanted; Though it’s worth noting that according to Willow, Grudgby is apparently the only language she speaks… Given that shot of her room at the beginning, I have to wonder if that’s where her MAIN self-worth lies in! In the beginning Boscha acknowledges to herself that she’s hated, ‘so long as she is feared’; And her monologue low-key gives me, “Doesn’t know how to make friends so copes by putting herself above everybody else and overinflating her own self-importance under the impression that people are just secretly jealous!” vibes. (In some ways she’s like Grace from Infinity Train…)
That aside, I just get a sensation of pride from seeing how adept and adaptable Luz is, and the way she learned Fire from Boscha of all people –Which I called!- is both hilarious but goes to show what kind of a learner she is… I feel like Eda, like we’ve watched our kid grow and get stronger and I can’t WAIT to see what she pulls off next! Amidst her learning Magic and then defying the Coven System… you go Luz, YOU GO!
And, it seems I’m not the only person who shares this sentiment! Even after Boscha’s bullying, we don’t see anybody beyond her gang make fun of Luz and co.! When Willow gets trashed poured on her, some students are watching, but… They seem kind of disturbed by it all? They’re not outright vouching on her behalf like Luz, possibly because Boscha is watching; But still! It is SO cathartic to see Willow being beloved by the entire school like that, even if she’s keeping her friend-circle to a select few; People LIKE her, and it’s what she deserves! Like Luz, I’m SO proud…!
I’m still disappointed we didn’t get the names of Boscha’s other friends, but I really like their inclusion here! I liked how they all seemed rather uncomfortable with seeing Luz forfeit, only to be made Boscha’s target practice; And how Luz is so bright, bubbly, and infectiously-cheerful, spreading her good will to others! Like, this girl is TOO kind, and so loving… She has no bounds and I love how those other girls are even affected by Luz, genuinely enjoying her and wanting to be friends, alongside having Willow as a teammate! I have to wonder if they’ll ditch Boscha after this… Or at the very least, try to talk her down as friends of Boscha that she actually cares about and vice-versa (compared to Amity, who has always been cold towards Boscha, hence why her talking wouldn’t have made a difference)!
Speaking of Amity… C’mon, girl. Your CRUSH is showing, the way you’re getting flustered, imagining seeing Luz in a ‘cute’ uniform and everything… Gus being utterly confused, but you can tell that the gears in Willow’s head are turning and honestly; She’s all for it, likely! I think this is the first time Amity has had an ACTUAL crush on someone she can talk to, instead of some distant figure or a fictional character! It’s so heartwarming seeing her navigate it, getting to actually deal with feelings like a kid is supposed to be allowed to do! And Luz being clueless… That, or she thinks Amity is into WILLOW, which makes a lot of sense too!
(After all, Luz knows that her parents wouldn’t approve of her being Amity’s girlfriend… But Luz, you have NO idea how much she cares, she literally loves you more than she fears them! And Amity, knowing that her parents wouldn’t approve and struggling with this no doubt, but her love for Luz is really shining through over all of that!)
To put it simply; Luz is FRIEND-shaped, she’s lovable, there’s no escaping liking her! Maybe Boscha will always be a bully, and I know one might call it ‘cliché’… But honestly I’d love to see Boscha eventually warm up to Luz and HER infectious positivity as well! Also, I saw that twist with the Rusty Smidge coming from a mile away, and I love how Luz low-key gets into a genuine rant over it! Although the loss doesn’t matter, as Luz’s team was clearly more adept and Boscha’s friends don’t seem interested in forcing Luz and her friends to do all of that other stuff…
Anyhow, I love seeing Amity stand up for her friends, and when she says that her social life has improved because she’s with Luz, in spite of Boscha’s claims… I really CAN see her standing up to her parents, sometime later! I speculated a while back that depending on how her and Luz’s relationship in Enchanting Grom Fright goes, it’d really impact what Amity does later down the line, and I was right! But it IS worth noting that Amity may not yet know that Luz has to leave… King and Eda know, and the former mentioned this in front of Willow and Gus! It’s possible that Luz has laid out her plans to return every summer (and during winter break and whatnot), which would definitely lessen Amity’s angst by an infinite amount! And seeing as how she has instantaneous access to the Demon Realm, who’s to say she can’t pop in every day, after school! Sure she might not be actively living in the Owl House anymore, but otherwise…!
On another note with Amity, I love her and Luz getting to geek out over The Good Witch Azura, and it’s funny to see the show confirm what I wondered about earlier; About Amity secretly making Azura references in public, under the knowledge that nobody would recognize them and realize she’s a nerd… But LUZ does now, and the two can bond! Also, Amity getting to have fun with Luz and co. at the end, being CARRIED by Luz, fully accepted into the home… I know you also have the library as a safe space Amity, but you’ve also got the Owl House as well! And it seems Hooty bears no grudges, either!
Also, someone speculated recently that Amity has her goth-sense from Lilith… and given the implication that Lilith dyed her hair, I can REALLY SEE IT! I’m disappointed we didn’t get any interactions between the two… But the way it was set up, I feel like if Eda and Lilith were there they’d be too busy cheering on their kids respectively! Or not, we’ve seen them prioritize their feud in Covention… But back then Luz and Amity weren’t on the same team!
Back to Amity, it’s interesting that she used to be on the Grudgby team, and was good at it, even being CAPTAIN when Boscha wasn’t; But then explicitly quit when she accidentally hurt some of her ‘friends’ merely once. Even if she never cared for them in the past, even if this was before she met Luz and learned to be kind and open again… She was ALWAYS someone who was self-conscious of her actions! And sure, the issue is that Amity is a LITTLE too self-conscious, constantly berating herself, holding herself accountable for every mistake… But regardless, it says a lot how guilty she feels to have hurt her teammates, even if it was an accident and a one-time incident that resulted in victory!
I’ll probably do ANOTHER post about it later, but it says a lot; How Amity feels like she should step up as a Blight, and she DOES outshine the others… But because of that inherent guilt but also compassion, she actually quits Grudgby out of guilt! Which leads me to the idea that even if she tolerated Boscha and co., she wouldn’t have wanted to hurt them; Again, because she’s critical of herself, but also because Amity isn’t cruel and it may have reminded her of how she treated Willow! I have to respect and fear for Amity on quitting Grudgby after that…
Again, I think she has the issue of being too overtly-critical of herself, and that it’s honestly THE issue that defines her problems; But on the other hand, I feel like Amity’s parents would’ve been displeased to see their star child quit the team, just for hurting some ‘lesser’ witches? I’m scared for what may have happened to Amity, but it also says a lot that she made a potentially defiant move simply because she didn’t want to hurt yet another friend…
(That, or her parents wanted Amity to focus on Abominations and other studies, and coupled with Amity’s guilt, it was the perfect opportunity to get her off the team. Which would be sad, but not surprising.)
Anyhow, I just think it’s interesting that Boscha and co. don’t ever seem to have any resentment towards Amity until recently. It’s possible Boscha DID dislike Amity up until she stepped down… But it makes me wonder if Boscha, like, looked up to Amity and wanted her approval and attention? Given how she’s always framed as following Amity… Perhaps Amity stepping down led to Boscha taking the spotlight, and so Boscha feels indebted towards Amity for her fame (and potential source of self-worth)?
Last but DEFINITELY not least; Somebody else (I’m sorry I keep forgetting) alluded to how in Understanding Willow, there was the issue set up of Luz meaning the best for friends… But also sometimes invading their privacy, or overriding what they want, so she can live out her fantasies at the same time! And, like- A big part of her IS doing this for her friends, that much is clear… But Luz does have an issue sometimes with clearing fantasy from reality! It’s a more advanced lesson from the one she learned in Episode 2, continuing off of that, and I LOVE it!
Like, I really do LOVE how Luz recognizes in this episode that even if a part of her is motivated in helping Willow, she’s also using this as a chance to live out her underdog Azura fantasies, and how Willow points this out to her… and Luz realizes that she’s right! She actively MAKES a change to her behavior, and makes up for it by fixing Willow’s hairclip and even forfeiting on Willow’s behalf and taking all the punishment… All because she doesn’t want her friend to be uncomfortable! Man, Luz is SO ridiculously kind, I keep saying she’s my favorite but she REALLY IS! What a lovable dork, no wonder Boscha and her friends are falling for her!
(Also RIP Skara, you were the fourth one in a team of three. Although given how she helped carry Luz and Amity in the previous episode, amidst already having more screen time… I can see this as a way for the writers to give more of a spotlight to Boscha’s other friends, while subtly acknowledging that Skara likely has gotten over her bias towards Luz and the others. I wonder if Boscha also noticed and that’s why she was left out; That, or she’s the least-skilled? I dunno, but it was neat to see and I’ll overanalyze the moment regardless!)
On a lesser note; Willow’s last name is Park, which is a Korean surname! Coupled with her VA’s ethnicity and Willow/Tati Gabrielle being listed amongst other Asian rep characters and VAs, and I think it’s safe to say that she’s the Boiling Isles equivalent to Asian; Which let me tell you, is VERY nice to see!
Overall, this was an AMAZING episode! It was a heartwarming, feel-good episode that reaffirmed character relationships and love while still expanding on them, adding in more friends to the group… It was pretty much nothing but happy moments and revelations! Obviously things are setting up in the next two episodes to go REALLY crazy, especially with Luz potentially getting banned from Hexside for defying Lilith and Belos… But it’s clear to say that she’s left QUITE the good impression on the administration and students! And I can see some even vibing with Luz’s ideas even after she gets kicked out… Perhaps Luz will unknowingly start a rebellion of sorts?

Y'all...
I am so sorry that I kept y'all waiting, I had a lot of stuff to do for today but now, it time for the last part.
Edas part.
So basically, Eda feels as if Belos is getting ready to do something, like something bad and wants to get stronger so she can stop whatever his plans are. But Hooty catches on that she hasn't been getting any sleep lately because of that.
Tumblr media
This picture scares me...
Anyways, Hooty comes up with a way to make sure she gets sleep, he makes these cookies for Eda (whick are good by the way) but the cookies he made makes the person who eats them to fall asleep for a good while.
But the downside to that is the your dreams or nightmares come true. And Eda had to deal with her worst nightmare, the owl beast. She's not scared of it (anymore) she's just more annoyed and irritated by it.
Tumblr media
She hates it.
Like she said, it's the really main reason to majority of her problems now. Throughout the entire time with the beast, Eda experiences per past trauma again but with the owl beast being the reason for it.
So the first scene we get is we get to finally see Eda's dad. But more like when she was a kid.
Tumblr media
When she hugs her dad from returning home, the owl beast get in the way of that and attacks the father, causing him to get slashed in his left eye as you can see here:
Tumblr media
Now Eda mentions that she won't let the owl beast get in the way of her seeing her father again and once the owl beast was kicked out, we see you g Eda on the flour with her feathers poking out. So this shows that SHE was the one who attacked her father that day.
The next scene the next scene is with Raine and Eda on top of the mountain again. But this time, Eda was close to transforming into the owl beast and she moved away from Raine, refusing to tell them what was going on because she knew what Raine was gonna say. This caused Raine to give up and say that they were joining the bard coven, and that they think it's best to see other people. So this informs that Raine and Eda dated. (Which is really not a surprise to any of us). Eda appretely didn't take the break up well...
The next scene showed Eda fighting the owl beats while getting bigger, when she buttheaded the beast, she became her beast form and had a net on her body, she was being pulled close to this new character.
Tumblr media
She was then able to escape but then her wings burnt...
In the last scene, which was wholesome to me, showed the colors black and white, with Eda sitting on the beach and the beast in it's tiny form trying to get away in the water.
Eda looks down and sees a red string attached to it and her. Once the beast gives up and swims back to shore, exhausted, Eda makes it truce with it saying they need to stop fighting. The bird agrees by licking the elixer out of her hand.
After that heck of a rollercoaster, Eda finally wakes up and we see a new form of hers.
Tumblr media
She looks like a corrupted angel and I'm digging it. The whole new form is is just 😩 Chefs kiss 💋
But yeah, and then we had to deal with Hooty.
But overall, the episode was probably one of my favorites. But y'all, Hooty only wanted to help, but he went overboard into doing it, or he just didn't think things through.
Hooty would be the kind of wingman that would help you with your date but he just wouldn't think his plan through...
Can someone do wing man Hooty tho
Like draw him out, I would freaking love that. But yeah my thumbs hurt and I refuse to type anymore.
Good day to you all. ( Or night idk)

feels like we’re going home
i started watching the owl house last week and the tl;dr is that i do not control the hyperfixation, so this happened. this takes place immediately following 1x13, so spoilers for that episode if you haven’t seen it yet.
also on ao3
It was strange, Eda thought as she flew towards Hexside. Luz had only been around for a few short weeks, but she had already become such a fixture in Eda’s life that Eda had spent most of the day pacing the house trying not to think about how Luz was doing at school while also trying to remember how exactly she had spent her time before all of this. Neither of those pursuits had been very successful, and she breathed a sigh of relief when it was finally time to pick up Luz.
Owlbert seemed to pick up on the change in her mood instantly, and he hooted as they neared the school.
“Shut it, you,” Eda snapped. “I’m not going soft, you’re going soft.” Owlbert didn’t respond, but Eda knew her palisman well enough to know that he wasn’t convinced.
She touched down at the edge of the courtyard, a good distance away from the gaggle of parents and witchlings. No matter what Bump had promised about keeping the eyes of the Emperor’s Coven off of her, she still wasn’t exactly eager to draw any attention to herself; especially not while Luz was so new.
It only took a few minutes before Eda spotted Luz chatting with the little Blight girl. When she saw Eda, though, her face lit up and she waved as she jogged over.
“So did you have a good…woah.” Eda trailed off as she took in the bright colors on Luz’s uniform that she was pretty sure hadn’t been there this morning. “Sweet mother of isles, what the heck did you get yourself into, kid?”
“Eda, you’re not going to believe the day I had!” Luz cried. “Principal Bump put me in the potions track, but I sort of accidentally did some oracle magic and I got put in detention, but then the inspector from the Emperor’s Coven turned out to be this giant snake monster and it was eating everyone’s magic, but we saved everyone and then Principal Bump decided the track rules were outdated, so I get to study in all the tracks now!”
Her entire speech was animated in classic Luz fashion, and Eda’s head was practically spinning trying to follow everything. “Okay, you’re going to have to walk me through that again just a little bit slower, I caught, like, none of that. Who’s eating magic monsters now?”
“Not important,” Luz said. “I mean, it was, and I’ll tell you about it all tonight, but hold on, I think Jerbo and Barcus already left, but I have another friend that I think would really love to meet you. I’ll be right back.” She dashed off across the courtyard before Eda had a chance to process her words.
“More friends?!”
As if on cue, King popped out of a nearby garbage can with a soft “Weh!” There were crumbs on his paws and something purple that looked like abomination goop saturating the end of the long red tie he almost certainly hadn’t been wearing that morning. “I know, right?” he said. “That kid could make friends in an empty box.”
Eda’s hands fell to her hips as she glared at the demon. “And just what have you been doing all day? I was looking for you at the house all afternoon. Or did you just forget that you’re supposed to be working for me?”
“Listen, sister, some of us have greater vocations in life than being a witch’s errand-demon. Mine is shaping the next generation of young minds, and I think that we teachers deserve a little more respect.”
“Forget I asked,” Eda said as she rolled her eyes. She caught sight of Luz coming back towards them, leading a pale girl with thorns around her brown ponytail and…was that a fish hook for an earring? Okay, maybe Eda was a little impressed.
Luz skidded to a stop, but the girl behind her had her eyes so firmly fixed on Eda that she nearly fell into Luz. She, too, was wearing a multicolored uniform, and there was an almost reverential look in her eyes that almost made Eda a little self-conscious. Almost.
“Eda, this is my new friend, Viney. Viney, meet Eda the Owl Lady,” Luz said proudly. “But you might know her better as—”
“Lord Calamity,” Viney breathed.
“Excuse me?” Eda glanced at Luz. “What’s going on here?”
“You created the Secret Room of Shortcuts!” Viney exclaimed. “Oh man, Jerbo’s never gonna believe this.”
“The room with all the doors?” Bits of memories started to appear in the back of Eda’s mind of slipping into secret passages to get out of trouble, eavesdropping on classes and conversations, meeting Lilith in between classes sometimes just to check in.  It was her grandest achievement by far, but one of the first to be forgotten almost as soon as she had dropped out. But this was hardly the time to unpack that, so she just smirked as she said, “We used to use that for all kinds of pranks back in the day. Bump still hasn’t found it yet?”
She noticed the glint in Luz’s eyes at the word ‘we.’ There were going to be a lot of questions later tonight, but after a day of silence broken only by Hooty, she’d take it.
Viney shook her head. “Nope. A couple of older kids showed us how to access the entrance in the detention room and we’ve been using it to study all kinds of magic all year. You’re basically our hero.”
“Happy to be of service,” Eda said. “I mean, it’s not exactly setting ghosts loose in a changing room or stealing teeth, but I’m glad it’s still getting put to good use.”
“Oh, there’s plenty of pranks too,” Viney said. “Your hexed graffiti is the coolest I’ve ever seen.”
“Ha! Use it well, kid,” Eda said. “And listen, I’m glad Bump is loosening up in his old age, but if you ever want to ditch this place, the Bad Girl Coven is always accepting applications.”
“Really?” Viney’s eyes grew wide and she looked from Eda to Luz and back again, but before she could reply, someone called her name from across the courtyard and Viney sighed. “That’s my mom. I have to go.” She turned to Eda and bowed her head. “It’s an honor to meet you, Lord Calamity. See you tomorrow, Luz!” She turned and waved as she ran off again.
“So…,” Eda said after a long moment. “I take it school wasn’t as horrible as you thought?”
“No, it was great! I mean, aside from the basilisk almost stealing everyone’s magic and destroying the school, but as long as that’s not a regular thing, I think I’ll like it at here.”
“How in the heck did you take down a bas—” Eda stopped herself. “You know what? Maybe that’s a conversation we can have later. I’m just glad you had a good time. Which reminds me…” She paused to dig around in her hair until she found what she was looking for. It was the same round badge she had offered Luz that morning, except it had been altered to read Not a Quitter Badge. “It’s not much, but…I’m proud of you, kid.”
Luz gasped as she took the badge. “¡Es asombrosa! I love it!” She threw her arms around Eda, and even though it caught Eda more than a little off guard, she found herself hugging Luz back. After a moment that was somehow both too long and too short for Eda’s liking, Luz stepped back and pinned the badge to the front of her uniform and puffed out her chest proudly. “What do you think?”
Eda could feel her heart swell at the sight and she really hoped that Luz couldn’t tell how choked up she was as she said, “It looks great. And it’s almost certainly against the dress code, so that’s a bonus.”
The next thing Eda knew, Luz's arms were around her waist and hugging her tightly. The more surprising part, though, was that Eda had been ready for it.“Thank you, Eda,” Luz said.
Eda waved her hand nonchalantly as they broke apart. “Don’t mention it,” she said. “Just promise me you’ll beat some of my sister’s illusion records and that’ll be thanks enough.”
Luz’s face turned stony serious in an instant and she gave Eda a mock salute. “I’ll do my best,” she said.
“That’s good enough for me,” Eda said with a smile. She ruffled Luz’s hair and then dipped her staff so that they could both get on. “Now hop on,” she said. “I’ve got dinner cooking back at the house and I left Hooty watching it, so we should probably go.” She paused and frowned as she scanned the courtyard. “King!”
King scampered away from some kid’s bag lunch that had been abandoned on the cobblestones, but not without swiping a stack of cookies and leaving a trail of crumbs behind him. He hopped into the hood of Luz’s cowl and made himself comfortable. “Ugh. Teaching is rewarding and all, but I could use a vacation.”
Luz giggled and Eda rolled her eyes as Owlbert spread his wings and they lifted into the late afternoon sky.
“So,” Eda said. “In just one day you managed to get branded as a delinquent, save the school from a demon, become the first student in Hexside history to study all nine tracks, and on top of it all, you managed to break Bump’s will which is the one thing I never accomplished in my time there. How are you going to top all of that tomorrow?”
“I’m sure I’ll figure something out,” Luz replied. She was quiet for a moment, but just as the Owl House came into view between the trees, she asked, “So who’s ‘we’?”
Eda tipped the staff downward before pulling up hard just short of the grass. “Whoops, turbulence, I can’t hear you!”
Luz yelped and then laughed as they sped towards the house, and Eda couldn’t help the smile that tugged at the corners of her lips as they touched down in front of a house that had only recently started to feel like a home with a kid who had quickly become a far bigger part of her life than Eda had ever imagined. Maybe she really was going soft after all. And maybe that wasn’t such a bad thing.

What I thought about “Agony of a Witch” from The Owl House
...Well crap. I guess I am reviewing every episode of The Owl House from now on...ARE YOU HAPPY WRITERS?! ARE YOU PROUD OF YOURSELVES?! ARE YOU SATISFIED?!
...
Anyways, salutations random people on the internet who probably won't read this! I am an Ordinary Schmuck. I write stories and reviews and draw comics and cartoons. And today, I'm reviewing the penultimate episode of The Owl House’s first season: "Agony of a Witch." It goes without saying at this point, but there are going to be HUGE spoilers for both not only the episode but the entire series as a whole. So if you haven't checked out The Owl House yet, I highly recommend you do so. It's an incredible show, and the next episode is the season finale. So now's your last chance to get all caught up. With that done and over with, let's get started, shall we?
WHAT I LIKE
That opening scene: These first few minutes perfectly sets the tone for the episode. The best example of how the tone is set is with the music. Or rather, lack thereof. The establishing shots of Belos' castle could have had grand and imposing music that gives "The Imperial March" a run for its money. But honestly, the pure silence says so much more about how serious this scene than any background motif could. Because while music does an excellent job of telling us how we should feel, no music means that the right feelings are already met. And in this case, the feelings are dread and terror.
But another thing that perfectly sets the tone is the fact that there aren't any jokes in this scene. If you had to ask me, I'd say that The Owl House is a comedy series with drama and story on the side. This is because the opening scene of every episode begins with trying to make the audience laugh with one or two jokes. That is every episode except for this one. Because "Agony of a Witch" does not open with any jokes leaving the audience with laughter. It begins with an ominous threat and leaving the audience in fear. All of which perfectly sets up how gutwrenching this episode is going to be.
Hooty’s an actual security system: But luckily, it doesn't take too long for the laughs to come right on back.
When it was implied that Hooty was the security system that Eda had set for her house, I never understood how or why. But now I do! Because it turns out that Hooty acts as a force of chaos that just annoys his enemies into submission. And I'm gonna level with you for a second: This scene helps make Hooty a fantastic character. For the most part, I find Hooty an annoying character. And it's partially due to his voice...mostly due to his voice...it's because of his voice. But, I'm sorry, a character wins points for me by accidentally beating an army without even knowing they're fighting.
I don't make the rules. I just abide by them.
“It’s because he’s got the hots for you, isn’t it?”: I like the fact that I pointed this out as a joke in my last review, only for this episode to not only address it but almost immediately dismiss it.
Plus, Eda winking with finger guns is always a win. Again, I don't make the rules.
Eda joking about the curse being a fate worse than death: Some people might make the audacious claim that joking about a fate worse than death soils the mood. And I would agree with that if this was actually a joke. Instead, it feels more like Eda is brushing off the tension by trying to laugh at it. That is something that many people-myself included-do to make people we care about feel better. To me, it feels pretty clear that Eda laughs about her situation so that Luz doesn't worry about her mentor. This shows how much Luz means to Eda, and we see something similar/more impactful near the end that cements that fact. For now, this "joke" is actually a great character moment when you take a second to analyze it.
Luz’s plan to steal the Healing Hat: Staying on track of development, let's talk about how much this scene reflects growth with Luz and Eda's relationship. Luz's willingness to steal from the emperor, and break who knows how many laws in the process, shows how much Luz cares about Eda. It's sweet to think about, even though it comes by Luz making the dumbest decision in her life. And while Luz's plan would ordinarily be a dislike, what turns things around is the fact that there are immediate consequences to Luz's actions. Eda's curse being permanent? Eda getting captured? Luz nearly dying?! All of this would have been avoided if Luz just stuck with the group instead of working on impulse. And there's not a doubt in my mind that's what she was thinking during her long trek home (more on that later). So, yeah. While Luz's plan was misguided, it still has the sweetest of intentions while also showing kids that bad stuff happens when you don't think things through.
Amity staying at home: Narratively speaking, this was a great decision. Amity acts as the voice of reason to Luz's antics. So if she went on the trip too, then she would have talked Luz out of the heist. And the writers found a brilliant workaround by having Amity break her leg in the last episode, to work as an excuse for why she isn't in this one. In fact, let's add more points to "Wing it Like Witches" for planning ahead. That alone makes it more clear about how that episode isn't filler.
Eda knits the cape for Luz: While Luz stealing the Healing Hat shows how much Eda means to her, Eda knitting the cape shows the feelings are very much mutual. It's made pretty evident in the beginning that Eda's planning to use the magic silk to protect herself. So having her instantly make the cape for Luz without a second thought is just the sweetest thing. And you know what? Who's to say that Eda wasn't planning to make the cape anyway? And Eda saying that the silk was for her was just a diversion to throw Luz off? Because if that's the case, then boy does that ending break my heart even more.
(Also, this acts as a fantastic setup for why Luz has a cape that makes her invulnerable to the Emperor's magic in the next episode. At least, I think that's the case going off of what Eda says in the beginning.)
The picture of Luz: Ok, am I the only one who would absolutely love an explanation for this picture? Yeah, it's obvious that Luz got into an eating contest to the death, but how did she even get stuck in this contest? Why was she even in this contest? And why was Eda so proud of this moment that she decided to frame it?
Screw the fanfictions of angst and/or Lumity fluff. Someone write a fanfic about THAT!
The tour of the castle: I talked about in my "Wing it Like Witches" review that I like how the show uses teaching the students as a way to give lore to the audience. And that's what Kikimora's tour does. It uses the student's willingness to learn as a way for the fans to learn more about the lore of the show. However, while these bits of background information is nice and all, there's one question I want to bring up:
How honest is this little history lesson about Emperor Belos? Because do you know who’s the one that can make sure history remembers Belos as a kind and just ruler who united the Boiling Isles? My guess is it's the same person who appointed himself as emperor.
Just a little thing to think about, if you ask me.
The Room of Relics: Gonna tell ya the truth: Seeing all of those relics made the inner child in me go, "Oooh. Shiney."
I'm not kidding when I say that I would love to learn more about each of those relics we see in this episode. I want to learn more about each relic's origins, which track they belong to, and what the hell they even do. And it's not often that I feel this way. Hell, I'm mostly the guy who never gives a crap about lore. But you better believe that if Dana Terrace ever writes a book explaining all of these relics, that I'll be the first to buy it.
Emperor Belos: ...Eep…
I'm not kidding when I say that "Eep" is the best way for me to describe Emperor Belos. The reason that makes Belos feel like a terrifying and opposing character is the same way Darth Vader and Thanos are terrifying and opposing. He's a character that feels like a force of nature that is so powerful, he could probably kill you just by blinking. And it's no wonder why Lilith was so terrified to fail him in the last episode. I'd be terrified just to look at the man without his permission! And that was before it was implied that he sacrifices witches who are covenless!
But, Belos frightening the crap out of me isn't the only reason why he's an excellent villain. What makes him great is that in his debut scene, we learn so much about him...and yet have so many more questions. Like, how can he talk to the titan? What's up with the giant beating heart on top of his throne? Why is he sacrificing witches and discarded palisman to give him power? What the f**k is up with the giant beating heart on top of his throne? Why are there pipes littered throughout his castle? AND WHAT! THE F**K! IS UP! WITH THE GIANT! BEATING! HEART! ON! TOP! OF! HIS! THRONE?!?!
Questions like these help make Belos more interesting of a character that I would love to learn more about. Even though seeing him makes me physically shrink in my chair.
Gus being told that he’s already his best self: I mean, this is just sweet. My man Gus needs more love, dang it!
Eda vs. Lilith: It's like the animators saw the first fight between Eda and Lilith and asked, "How can we make this more awesome?" Turns out, the answer is to make the fight more like an anime than the first one. And MAN, was it successful! However, being epic is not the main reason why it's a captivating fight scene. Because as excellent as it was to see Eda and Lilith fight for the first time, their battle lacked one crucial element that’s in their second fight: Tension. Eda's curse getting worse with each spell and Luz being in constant danger adds so much more tension to this fight. And as a result, it becomes more entertaining to watch Eda fight knowing the odds are highly stacked against her. Because even though Eda was destined to lose, you still hope for the best that she'll somehow win. Which makes her ultimate defeat all the more heartbreaking.
LILITH CURSED EDA?!: What?! WHAT?!
I mean, I expected Eda to lose and get captured. That was something I saw a mile away since watching the promo a few months ago. But revealing that Lilith is the one who cursed Eda?! I could have never predicted that! It was such a shocking revelation that I cannot wait to see how the show handles this going forward. Because, the way I see it, Eda is cutting ties with Lilith after this episode. Even if Lilith has some sort of logical explanation, none of it will matter to Eda. Hell, it already doesn't matter to the fans, who are already jumping on the "Kick Lilith's teeth in" train. As for me, I'm going to wait for the actual explanation before I make any judgments. It is made pretty clear that Lilith regrets what she's done in not only in this episode but through small interactions with Eda in the past. It might not justify her actions, but I am still willing to hear the full story before I come to the conclusion that Lilith must burn in hell. Unless her reasoning was petty revenge or jealousy. In which case, I would like to introduce Lilith to my good friend Frederick Ulisinsburg.
*Lifts up middle finger*
You can call him F.U. for short.
Eda’s goodbye to Luz: Everything about this moment is gutwrenching perfection. I want to start off by talking about the fact that Eda smiles as she's saying goodbye. Earlier I touched upon that Eda joked about having a fate worse than death was an attempt to relieve tension off of Luz. And it's the same thing here. Eda smiling is the only way she can convey to Luz that everything's going to be ok so that her protege won't be upset about their situation. There are just two things that betray Eda during this sentiment. The first is her voice. You can tell that Eda is trying her best to stay emotionally stable for Luz, but it's clear how she's really feeling through each crack in her voice. And credit goes to Wendie Malick for giving such a marvelous performance in this scene. The second thing that betrays Eda is her eyes. Every ounce of pain and sadness that Eda is feeling at this moment can be seen through her eyes. Don't believe me? Then watch this scene again, cover Eda's mouth, and focus on the eyes. You'll see what I'll mean.
And her last word to Luz being "Thank you for being in my life." That cuts deep man...IT CUTS DEEP...GAH!
Luz walks home: It's the moments that you don't experience that can have the most weight to them. We, as the audience, have no idea what happened with Luz as she walked all the way back to the Owl House. But the things we can imagine are much worse. The guilt Luz must be feeling during this walk, as every awful thing that she experienced replays in her mind, like a broken record. The idea of Luz going through something like that just...It just breaks the heart.
“Where’s Eda?”: It's the innocent way that King asks this question is what makes it sad. It shows the childlike naivety in King's character, and imagining what his reaction would be to the truth, makes it even more tear jerking.
Luz cries: Nope. Nope! NOPE!
I will accept a lot of things from this episode. Eda getting captured? Sure. Luz having a literal guilt trip? Why not? King getting to learn the hard way about what happened to Eda? Go for it! But you know what I won't accept? LUZ F**KING CRYING! I'm being one-hundred percent serious when I say that it physically hurts to look at that one single image. Even just thinking about it is enough to make me misty-eyed. And I HATE IT! I mean, I love it because the show successfully made me feel the exact emotions that I should feel. BUT I HATE IT!
WHAT I DISLIKED
I honestly wish I could say that there is nothing that I dislike about this episode. I really do. But there is one small thing that-very briefly-took enjoyment out of the episode. And that’s-
The Kids easily sneaking past the guards: Don't get me wrong, the funny antics that our trio pull off are very entertaining. But it shines a bad light on the Emperor's coven, when the best of the best witches get outsmarted by three children. Plus, this is the penultimate episode of the season. I'm not sure goofy hijinks are the way you want to go. Because while The Owl House is a comedy series, even the funniest of comedies know when to make jokes and when to be serious.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
But despite that one complaint, I still give this episode an A+. It was emotionally draining, and it makes both more excited and incredibly terrified for the season finale. Because we now know the stakes for the next episode. The question is, how will Luz survive.
Now, I'm sure there are people out there who probably hate this episode, and probably the whole series if you want to get into it. And to those people: I feel bad for you. And I'm not saying that as a joke or as a snarky remark. I legitimately feel bad for you. Because I felt a whole range of emotions not just with one episode, not just with one scene, but with one single frame of animation. That image of Luz crying was more effective in getting a reaction out of me than anything else that came out this year. And the idea that some of you won't feel the same way fills me with even more Agony.

CTHULHU MYTHOS X OWL HOUSE CROSSOVER: GODS AWAKEN (Pt. VII)
Fire rained down from the sky onto a small village engulfing all in its path. Smoke filled the sky, obscuring the sun and smothering the light. Houses of wood were incinerated by fireballs. Screams of terror surged through the broken remnants of the village.
"Hush, now, please,” a woman said. She had her child wrapped tightly in her arms whilst simultaneously trying to silence the howls coming from him. She ran over the burning ashes of what used to be her village for what seemed like hours. Screams of bloody murder and misery came from afar, but she could not cease her escape now lest her child be in danger.
“Please, help!”
She stopped and scanned the area. Sensing that it came from an eastern region, the mother turned around and sprinted. A house was leveled and torn into pieces with fire dancing in every direction. She could see two small figures standing by what used to be a part of one of the beams of the house. When she ran closer to them, she could make out that they were a brother and sister.  They crouched down in front of the debris. The daughter, the youngest, looked up at the mother with a worried expression.
“Our mother is stuck under there.”
A medium-sized woman was wedged between the ground and the ceiling. Flames tickled around her; each lick of one of the flames wrought a moan of pain from her. She saw the mother and gave a weak smile.
“My legs are broken,” she explained, “please take my children and run away from this place.”
“No, Mom, we’re going to save you!” the brother spoke up. He grasped some piece of the ceiling and chunked it over his shoulder. The flames were beginning to spread. His mother pushed herself up for a few seconds giving the impression that she was doing her best to slide herself out.
“There’s no time!” she rubbed one of her son’s tears away before speaking again. “You have to leave.”
The two siblings looked at their mother and then towards the woman that they called over. While the young mother weighed her options, the ground shook. They all glared at the sky their hopes dashed. A winged beast with the semblance of a gigantic bat and as black as night hovered above them. Its three-lobed, singular eye throbbed. The young mother, breaking from the awe she felt, quickly collected her son and resumed her running. The two kids glanced over horrified.
“Wait, don’t leave us!”
She did not turn back not until the sounds of the family’s screaming became a memory. In her heart, she knew that she had some accountability to the fate that befell on the family, but she panicked when that thing arrived. She had to keep her child safe no matter the cost. Her legs grew tired by the second and yet, her child was still crying without halt. The tendons in the mother’s ankles were tiring themselves out. There came the sound of a rushing wind. The mother’s legs killed her, but she attempted to run again.
The bat monster was on the horizon again narrowing her down. The beast’s eye glared again, shooting fire towards the mother. With little thought, she tossed her child aside and was engulfed in the fire. The baby’s crying became louder likely realizing what happened to his mother. He looked up and saw a smoky vapor flowing towards him.
“Well, what have we here?” the voice said.
A small, green orb began to crystallize in front of the young child.
“GAH!”
King jolted himself awake sweat rolling down his head in thick beads. Luz looked up from her mat, concerned. “King? What is it?”
King’s panting slacked down in his attempt to compose himself. “Uh, yeah, Luz; I’m okay.”
“Are you sure?” Luz asked, probing further, “sounded like you were having a nightmare.”
King shook his head. “Luz, Luz, I am fine; don’t think about it!”
Before Luz could say anything else, the living tube-bird known only as Hooty barged in.
“Hoot! Hoot! Want to know my worst nightmare?”
“No, no one wants that!” King said annoyed.
"As the people of the Isles knows, three traitors were taken before our lord, Emperor Belos, the other day and were found guilty of the highest treason for trying to sow the seeds of rebellion against our way of life. The three were petrified towards the midday.”
The residents of the Owl House quietly listened to the announcement over the news. Eda and King casually started eating their breakfast, but Luz could not eat. She felt her fists tense up.
“What is it, kid?” Eda asked, taking note of it.
“How can anyone allow Belos to do something like this?” she slammed her fists on the table.
“Rule of the land, kid,” King responded.
Luz slumped in her chair. “I guess so...but Belos should be stopped.”
“That isn’t our concern now,” Eda clarified, “don’t even think of trying to face him again on your own.”
Luz nodded once more and she began to eat her breakfast as quietly as she could muster.
“Besides, we have bigger problems,” Eda said.
Ever since she betrayed Emperor Belos and became a fugitive, Lilith, in a sense, broke down. The moment she entered the house, she collapsed on the couch and remained there for a solid two weeks. In that course of time, Lilith had accumulated a lot of powder dust from the chips and other junk food she was eating. She passively was browsing through Penstagram with little interest. Her clothes had begun to wreak in the meantime. Dark bags were under her eyes.
“She’s...not taking her becoming a fugitive too well isn’t she?” Luz asked/
“Well, it’s better than the alternative,” Eda said.
“What is the alternative?”
“The Emperor could send someone to kill her in her sleep,” Eda snickered.
Luz and King gave the Owl Lady a serious look. Eda quickly stopped laughing. “What? That’s true.”
Luz walked into the room and stood by the couch. “Are you alright, Lilith?”
“Luz, have you ever dedicated your entire life to a cause because of some shady man’s promise only to then realize that in all those years said person wasn’t going to honor their part of the deal and you’re likely now on the run from the government lest they take your head?”
Luz tapped her chin. “I...I don’t think so.”
Lilith sighs. “The point is I no longer have any significant purpose because I have been lied to for years; I hurt my young sister for a meaningless position because I thought I could cure her, but now...here I am just wallowing in my despair.”
Luz squinted her eyes in thought. “Well, we have to get you back on your feet somehow.”
Lilith laid down on the couch. “Yeah, yeah; while you brainstorm, I’ll just lay here for a moment.”
“You were on the couch for two weeks!” Eda informed her, “I just had it cleaned!”
Lilith tosses a puff chip at her. “Just leave me alone; the couch is the only one who understands me.”
Eda scowled momentarily and walked out of the room. Luz watched Lilith for a couple seconds before deciding to head out as well. King was finishing up with his food when he saw them return. “Did it work out?”
“Not exactly,” Luz said in a bitter tone.
“Well, we can’t have her just sit there all day,” King noted.
“We could always pry her off,” Luz said.
“Already tried that: her butt’s glued to the seat.” Eda crossed her arms. “I think she transcended becoming one with it.”
Luz snapped her fingers. “Maybe we can take a trip to the commerce to buy her something.”
Eda raised an eyebrow. “Are you sure that will work?”
Luz shrugged. “Well, it could give her some motivation.”
Eda rubbed her temples and sighed deeply. “Alright; guess we’ll fly there.”
Eda came upon her staff but noticed that her palisman was missing. “That’s odd.”
“What is it, Eda?” Luz asked.
“Where’s Owlbert?”
Owlbert was outside the Owl House staring at the ground. It remained in that stance for a while until it felt that the time was right. Owlbert crouched down to place its ear against the grass and listened. With one swift scoop of its beak, it held a fat, slimy worm. It grabbed the worm with its tongue and pulled it into its mouth.
As Owlbert was enjoying the worm, a shrill sound rung out. Owlbert tilted its head in curiosity and flew. After a short distance, Owlbert could see what was making the sound: it was one of the children of the Bat Queen hunched on its side.
The gang was looking for the missing palisman throughout the house but there was no sign of the little owl. They looked near and around the couch; in their bedrooms; the restroom...zilch.
“Did you go anywhere yesterday, Eda?” Luz asked.
“Wouldn’t it make sense that I would know whether or not I did?” Eda said in response.
Hooty, per usual, popped in again unannounced. “Oh, I know where he is! Hoot, hoot!”
Eda, Luz, and King gave Hooty a shared look of annoyance.
“What do you mean that you already knew?” Eda asked in a thinly-veiled attempt to keep from snapping.
“He’s outside,” Hooty clarified.
“And why did you choose to tell us now?”
Hooty pouted. “You guys hardly ever pay attention to me, so I thought it would be fun for you guys to search around inside me.”
Eda punched the wall.
“OW!! Okay, okay, you don’t have to be a jerk!” Hooty remarked “hoot!”
The gang approached Owlbert and surrounded him. They too saw the same site. From the looks of it, the child of the Bat Queen’s wing was injured. Luz crouched down and extended her hand. The bat child hissed at her which did make her retract her hand, but she sensed it was because of the pain it was in.
“But if this one is here, where are the other two?” Eda said.
Luz’s eyes widened. “Something must have happened!”
She got up and started to run off, but Eda caught her at the last minute. “Slow yourself, kid.”
“But the Bat Queen might be in danger!”
Eda nodded. “I don’t want you to go off on your own.”
Luz’s gaze sunk. Eda frowned before continuing. “Which is why King and I will go with you.”
Luz perked back up. “Well, what are we waiting for?!”
Eda walked back into the house carrying the injured bat child. Lilith hadn’t moved from her spot on the couch even when they were tearing the house apart to find Owlbert. Eda rolled her eyes and placed the injured infant on her back. “Luz and I are going out for a bit; you and Hooty take care of this child.”
Lilith looked up at her younger sister. “I can’t take care of a child like how you do, Eda.”
“Well, it’s either you, or the child dies” Eda sternly said.
“Hoot, hoot! Ooo, a baby!” Hooty said in his annoying tone of voice. “I can teach it everything I know!”
After leaving the infant bat child in the care of her older sister and the house demon, the group of misfits embark to the forest. The clock was ticking.

Creation - Zinkosai
You walk through the massive capital, Hachin. It’s unlike anything you’ve ever seen back in your country village. When the city folk ask where you’re from (not that the city folk actually talk to you, but if they did…) you would say something like “Oh, my good sir, I come out of the Highlands, several days south from Liyama, good gentleman or gentlewoman” in your best city accent. But none of the city folk even notice you.
You’ve been called all this way for conscription. Back home, you were taught the ancient ways of alchemical healing. Your family has been practicing these arts long before that hooty tooty empire came and went. But the draconic overlords need ever more soldiers for their wars. The Shogun needs doctors, you’ve been told.
As you walk the crowded streets, by the large man-made mountain that is the old palace, you find misstep into the grand statuary. Unlike the busy streets, this park is near empty, save the well-trimmed hedges and… sculptures? You’ve seen more basic magic before, but nothing like this. A floating bubble in some abstract shape, ebbing and flowing just barely – A dancing, dynamic flame in a writhing shape – A hunk of Dragonsback granite hewn into precision fitted geometric patterns – an uncomfortably writhing tree-shaped growth constantly growing and withering back – you are entranced.
Then you find one in the center, surprisingly mundane – Its forged of what looks like pure platinum and is easily worth more than you could ever make in 100 lifetimes – yet mundane nonetheless.
“Ahh… even among the artistic marvels here, you are still drawn for the oldest.” The old, kindly groundskeeper approaches. You didn’t see him coming. Perhaps it is the recognizability and mundanity of this ‘oldest statue’ that draws you in, you’re not too sure, so you agree. “Yes, do you read? There is a plaque at the base. Go on…”
Your village didn’t have many scholars, but luckily your family has some ancient scrolls, so you make out that the plaque says, “Taika, First Axios.” You read it aloud.
“Are you familiar with the tale? Of the first Empire’s founding?”
You know there used to be an old empire run by silver dragons, and your village paid tribute (this time, you) whenever your regional dragon lord remembers you all exist (probably once every few decades). Your village doesn’t even got a name on their city records. You just know it as ‘my village’ or ‘the village’ or whatever. All that is to say, no, you don’t know who this platinum dragon is.
“Oh, you misunderstand, this is not the platinum Dragon; you’ll want to go down the street for the Lord-in-Waiting’s shrine. But Lady Taika here was once the savior of our human kind. She was preferential for us standard Kosei humans, but she also took Sareci and Kona and the like under her wing as well, mind you. According to the legends, she protected a wandering tribe of men from the evil Tairan, who you know is bad because he is where the Sareci get the name “Tyranny” from.”
You have no clue what the “Tyranny” is, and you just barely know that there are people across the Dragonsback that call themselves “Salaecian,” and that your grandfather was one of them. But you let the old man ramble. He seems to enjoy it, and can probably point you in the right direction when he’s done.
“You do not call yourselves the ‘Tyranny’ and still think you are the good guys. But I digress.” He recomposes himself, and urges you to look at the platinum statue. “Taika, matriarch of what would become the Holy Axios dynasty, allowed us to settle and work her lands here around Hachin, and soon we had the ability to strike back. After years of fighting, we took the war all the way to Tairan’s peak.” He points to the massive pillar rising in the distance. You can occasionally make out the tip from your village if the weather is completely clear; you just thought it was a far-off mountain top, but the straight vertical pillar is far higher than you can wrap your mind around. To think, some dragons and humans once fought for their future all the way up there. How’d they even get up there?
“With Taika’s primary opponent defeated, and with the Hachin valley’s abundance, it should come as no surprise that Hachin became the seat of the first empire, and no surprise that it remains the capital of Hikakae. With the capitulation of the Nogami kingdom to the south more than 4 millennia ago, the Zinkosai began its conquest over the continent.”
Much to your ire, its now your duty to fight for whatever is left of this empire. You are knowledgeable enough to know it fell apart about 1000 years ago, and Hikakae claims to be its successor, but this isn’t your fight. If Hikakae keeps your village safe, you’ll make all the medicines they need. But when push comes to shove, you know where your loyalties lie. As you ruminate, you see a massive, metal winged dragon, its chest weighed down by large medals and other worn honors, flap its way onto a large open balcony near the top of the old palace. You’d better get going.

All-Star Squadron #10 - 12
Tumblr media
Warning, Spoilers Ahead…
All-Star Squadron #10 – 12 by Roy Thomas, Adrian Gonzales, and Jerry Ordway
“If An Eye Offend Thee!”
The issue opens in San Francisco. It is early January 1942 and Hawkman has snuck away from the military base for a late evening flight.
The majority of the Justice Society retired their heroic identities to enlist in the various branches of the military.
Carter joined the Air Force and is set to make “pilot in record time” but “it’s liable to be months before I’ll see action in the army air force.”
Hakwman witnesses a fleet of B-17 Bombers arriving at the base from Randall Field, Texas.
Carter muses: “Those flyboys will do America a lot more good than one former playboy swooping around in a beaked masks and wings.”
“Speaking of former playboys, I just remembered Randall Field’s where Starman – Ted Knight – is based. I wonder if he might be – no, not likely. He couldn’t have his officer’s commission yet.”
Carter is wrong, as Ted is flying one of the planes. Ted’s co-pilot can’t get over how fast he made pilot status.
Ted suspects his co-pilot feels Ted’s money cut through the red tape but, in fact, as Starman, Ted has been “flying high for a year now.”
I’m not sure how flying under your own power allows easy mastery over flying a plane but I’ll go with it.
Starman admits missing using his gravity rod to fly under his own power.
A flying UFO appears out of nowhere, “glowing so blindly I can barely look at it.” The UFO attacks the planes.
A plane plummets to the ground. Hawman races after, knowing it’s futile, but hoping his Ninth Metal harness can stop the impending crash.
Fortunately for Carter, Ted makes excuses to head to the back of his plane. He promptly changes into his Starman costume, grabs his gravity rod, and exits the plane.
A relieved Hawkman has Ted save the plane while he prevents the UFO from attacking more planes.
An unconscious man falls out of the UFO. The UFO flies away to parts unknown.
Starman has to get back aboard the plane but Carter wants to know how Ted made pilot so fast.
Ted: “I got the President himself to fix it up for me.”
Ted admits he hates “using our ‘in’ with F.D.R.” but “winning this lousy war that’s important” and he would “mangle every rule in the book” if he had to.
Carter realizes he needs to return to base before he’s reported A.W.O.L. but first he needs to find help for the unconscious man. Unfortunately, the man dies in his arms before Carter can reach the ground.
Carter believes he knows the dead man and if it’s who he thinks it is “the secret behind that ‘Flying Eye’ may be even more sinister than I’d imagined.”
A caption box informs us we’ll have to wait an issue or two before discovering the full meaning of Carter’s words.
I enjoyed the quick check-in with Hawkman and Starman. The military enlistment was used throughout the All-Star Squadron run to explain why the members of the Justice Society weren’t featured heavily in the series.  It’s still nice to have the occasional appearance from a Society member.
We switch to Washington DC.
The Shining Knight, Hawkgirl, and Johnny Quick are careening past the Washington Monument.
I still don’t understand how Shiera hasn’t died of hypothermia while fighting crime in a bikini top during an East Coast winter.
I don’t have a problem with certain female super-heroes fighting crime in swimsuits, hot pants, or skirts. For example: She-Hulk, Supergirl, Power Girl, or Mary Marvel. All four women are mostly invulnerable and largely immune to temperature extremes. As long as it’s true to their personality, those women can wear what they want – they don’t have practical concerns to worry over.
However, women like Black Canary, Huntress, and Hawkgirl are neither invulnerable or immune to temperature extremes. Their costumes should reflect their need to protect their body from physical harm.
Side-note: Huntress’s abdomen-baring, hot-pants costume was one of the most idiotic outfits of all time. Both for the reasons listed above and because shorty before it’s debut, Helena was shot multiple times in the abdomen by the Joker. And the life-saving surgery was performed in Gotham during No Man’s Land. There was no plastic surgeon nearby to minimalize the scars. Yet no artist ever drew Helena with a scarred abdomen. Stupid!
Johnny compliments Shiera on the design of her new mask.  Shiera took the time to modify her mask but not to add sleeves to her top? Okay.
Johnny mentions he’d “better get some newsreel footage of all this, or Johnny Chambers is gonna be looking for a new job.”
Johnny is a cameraman for See’s All/Tells All News.
Sir Justin tethers Winged Victory and notices an unconscious man: “Here lies a man unconscious and he wears the regalia of an American soldier.”
Johhny has entered the Washington Monument in time to stop a sabotage attempt.
Johnny stops the actual explosion while Shiera and Justin deal with the saboteurs.
Sir Justin: “We thank you for letting us deal with these Nazis, Johnny Quick, for, in sooth, ‘twould be most unseemly to have let you fight the good fight unattended.”
Johnny: “Knight, you sure do talk pretty sometimes.”
The trio take the unconscious man (wounded guard) to the hospital.
Johnny mentions this is the second national monument he’s saved in a month and “I wonder how things are going out at Mount Rushmore?”
Hey, every hero needs a specialty. Superman fights alien invasions, Batman solves crimes, and Johnny Quick protects national monuments.
We switch locations to “one of the few American outposts in the distant Pacific Ocean which has not yet fallen to the Japanese juggernaut” where a “total blackout has been rigidly enforced for the past month.”
We have another check-in with a JSA member.
Dr. Charles McNider is on the island researching tropical fever. And he’s brought Hooty!
Charles serving in a research role for the military is a perfect fit. Charles wouldn’t be able to actively enlist in the military as he is blind.
Enemy planes and the “Flying Eye” attack the island. Charles changes into his “Dr. Mid-Nite” uniform to help the soldiers on the ground.
A solider is very confused: “Dr. Mid-Nite?! How the heck did you get over here?”
I understand Charles’ natural impulse is to change into costume at the first sign of danger but making an appearance on an isolated island is not a good way to maintain a secret identity.
The Flying Eye causes multiple plane engines to stall and crash. Fortunately, the pilots bail out.
The Flying Eye retreats and Charles heads back to his lab: “Better get back before my assistant Myra Mason notices Dr. McNider’s missing.”
Charles, trust me, Myra knows you run around as Dr. Mid-Nite. She may not say anything but she knows.
Did Charles use the “FDR card” in order to have Hooty and Myra accompany him? Myra is a nurse and Charle’s long-time assistant, used to working with the blind Charles, so she’s a logical choice to accompany him but Hooty?
I mean, I love Hooty, I’m just now sure how Charles convinced the military brass to allow his owl on the island.
We switch to the Russia’s Crimean Peninsula where the Flying Eye attacks both the Russian and the German forces and flies away.
Back to Washington. Robotman examines Steel. Robotman declares Steel free of any influence from Baron Blitzkrieg.
Firebrand accompanies the duo outside in time to witness the arrival of the Flying Eye.
The Flying Eye causes the hospital generatiors, along with Steel and Robotman, to shut down.
The Flying Eye heads to the White House. Firebrand along with a recovered Robotman and Steel race to the White House.
The trio arrive at the White House and meet up with Liberty Belle, Hawkgirl, the Shining Knight, Johnny Quick, and the Atom.
A shadowy, seven-foot man emerges from the Eye and battles the All-Star Squadron.
The man removes his helmet and proclaims: “I am Akhet, and I have come from the second planet of the star you call Proxima Centauri to annex this world, and all upon it, in the name and by the power of the Binary Brotherhood!”
Up Next: “The Spaceman’s Sinister Secret!”
Akhet issues an ultimatum: “All of Earth’s nations must surrender that a united planet planet may be ruled by myself, as emissary of the Brotherhood. Any nations which resist – be it one or all – will be obliterated by such power as my starcraft has already demonstrated. You have one earth-day to choose between abject surrender and total annihilation!”
The All-Stars want to attack but Liberty Belle correctly states that they should wait for the President’s signal.
Half the Squad attacks anyway, and when it goes badly, the rest rush in to help.
Sir Justin, as always, has the best battle cry: “Nor shall any man or maid set a foot further than does the Shining Knight! Forward to the fray, Winged Victory!”
The fight doesn’t go well and Ahket absconds with Steel, Hawkgirl, Atom, and Robotman.
Johnny laments: “What a time for the big guns in the Justice Society to have decided to enlist in the Army as privates!”
The Flying Eye attacks random locations across the globe.
The remaining All-Stars meet with the President, Prime Minister Churchill, and a military general.
Liberty Belle is suspicious of Akhet’s claims: I’m convinced there’s more to this than meets the eye.”
Hawkman arrives at the White House.
Hawkman informs the others of his and Starman’s encounter with the Flying Eye.
Carter tells the group the identity of the man who fell out of the ship: “Garret Owens, a pioneering bio-chemist. He’d gone out for a stroll near his Illinois home in 1933 – and hadn’t been seen since!”
Carter notes the emblem on Owens’ uniform is an old alchemist’s symbol for the Middle Ages, it is the sign for “the spirit of the world”.
Hawkgirl and Atom awaken in the Eye. Shiera’s a bit over-whelmed as she’s not a “full-time masked hero type. I’ve just put on this outfit to help the Hawk a time or two – and now this happens!”
Atom informs her “It’s a little late to fall back on your amateur standing.”
Atom and Hawkgirl explore the Eye.
Hawkman and the non-captured All-Stars race to the estate of Elwood P. Napier, a physio-mathmematician.
Elwood is another scientist who has gone missing in the last decade.
Johnny Quick has discovered the missing scientists were part of a government brain trust that ran out of funds in 1930.
Elwood was the last of the scientists to go missing. Before that one of the scientists went missing every six months.
Firebrand uses her powers to light up the interior of the house.
Sir Justin: “Odd’s blood, lass, but in my long-ago day, they’d have burned ye for a witch.”
Good thing Firebrand’s a modern woman. Also, good luck with the burning thing considering the nature of her powers.
Hawkgirl and Atom encounter Akhet and easily knock him out. The duo discover Akhet is a robot.
The duo discovers the rest of the captured All-Stars along with the missing scientists.  All individuals are placed in clear tubes.
Hawkgirl and Atom discover the true mastermind behind the plan: Dr. Hastor, Hawkman’s arch-enemy.
“Doomsday Begins At Dawn!”
Hawkman and his fellow All-Star leave Elwood’s estate.
Carter recognized Hastor in the photos found at the estate, “a man I saw die more than two years ago”.
Carter recaps his origin and debut as Hawkman. This is familiar ground for DC fans but I’ll offer a quick summary: Ancient Egypt – Prince Khufu and Shiera – murdered by Hath-Set, a priest of Anubis, all three re-incarnate to their present day lives.
Carter battles Dr. Anton Hastor in his first adventure. Hastor presumed dead after his fight with Carter.
Carter informs his fellow All-Stars that there is no alien invasion – only Hastor’s machinations.
Hastor explains to Shiera his plans and how he became involved with the missing scientists.
Hastor took control of the group of scientists and the Flying Eye, starting the events of the last few issues.
The All-Stars reach the Flying Eye via a hot-air balloon! No engine to knock out in the balloon.
Carter, Shiera, and Hastor battle by using their past lives’ astral forms.
The Hawks win, the Flying Eye is deactivated, and Hastor falls into a comatose state.
I love the All-Star Squadron but this is a pretty “meh” arc. Too many twists needlessly over-complicated – and stretched out - the plot.

yes
3: Ever had a terrible breakup?
ooooohhhh yeah
4: How tall are you?
5′10
5: How much do you weigh?
currently, about 210 ish (it’s been about a week since i weighed, but i’ve lost almost 40 pounds in the last two/three months so THAT’S HELLA AWESOME FOR ME)
6: Any tattoos do you want?
theres a SHIT ton of tattoos i want —- i’m actually going to get one this weekend. but i want rainbow birds along my collar bone bc im hella gay ; a tribal sea turtle on my back left shoulder ; a pieces sign on my right upper bicep (a tribute to my best friend who died in 2013 - that was her astrological sign) and an infinity on my inner left wrist (like lexa’s – i know, it’s dorky af but i LOVE the design). eventually, i want to get a phoenix spanning across my entire back, but that will probably be a long time coming. a wolf….somewhere. i haven’t decided on a design yet because wolf tattoos are HELLA cliche and i want mine to be unique, but they’re my favorite animal and i share a lot of personality traits with them.
CONT. BELOW THE CUT (there’s too much shit not to read more tbh)
7: Any piercings that you want?
i’d like to get my ears pierced two more times. i’ve fiddled with the idea of a tongue piercing a couple times but i doubt i’ll ever go through with it.

16: Favorite Quote?
“Some people say the truth is overrated; that it’s easier to get what you want with lies and deception. This is not the case. Truth is defined as a fact, an actuality or a reality. Truth is not open for interpretation. If you gain something with lies then there is no doubt you will not be able to keep it. If there is no way of getting something without lying then it is not worth having. Truth is the only way forward, even if it is what leaves us vulnerable and weak; it is also what makes us strong”
17: Favorite singer?
there is literally no answer to this. i can’t pick. it’s too hard
18: Favorite color
cerulean blue
