With the announcement of the US going onto the mandatory hotel quarantine list here in Ireland next week, it’s hit me a little harder than I would like to admit. I don’t talk much about how I’m feeling about all that’s going on, but it’s gotten to the point where I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed by it all and I’m sure I’m not alone in this feeling. I’ve not seen my family since 2019 and with no information about how long the hotel quarantine will be in place, or when vaccines will be given, even to high risk people like myself, and with a lockdown that’s not given any end dates or easements, there’s just a lot of unknowns and as someone who likes to plan and likes to know what’s going on, the wait and see of it all is just too much for me today. I know better days are coming, I know this won’t last forever and I’m beyond excited for the places that are able to open back up soon or already are, and for the people who get to give their families a hug, and for the people who are vaccinated. It is just feeling very heavy to me today, I could go on but I’ll leave it at that. It’s heavy and overwhelming and while I know I’ll bounce back out of this not so great feeling I’m just going to allow myself to feel how I feel today and you should too. Also I think this is the perfect card when you’re feeling like this chances are the person you’re sending it to fees the same 🧡. Asana practice, the practice of yoga, is about undoing. • Proper relaxation comes from awareness of the self. If you are in control of how your body moves, you can then control the senses, if you control the sense, you can control the mind, if you have the body, senses, mind and prana (vital energy/breath) controlled, then there is awareness of all things necessary for balance. • Do you want more control of your life, more direction, more awareness, less pain and pills and more energy? Does the thought of getting old worry you, as you feel you'll not be able to do the things you once could due to the years of mind and body neglect? None of this need be of concern. • We are all getting older by the second, this is inevitable. No amount of material possessions can change this. But, it is in our hands as to what state we will travel trough this life and in what condition we will be in for our friends, family and children. • Take time each day to care for yourself. This mind and body is the most precious thing you'll ever own. • I'm running classes each week, not solely to support myself, but to give back a practice that has help in my life so much.      I had to take a photo walk tonight because I felt my soul shriveling into nothingness being alone in the house all day. I have a lot of hurt and pain that decides to say hello when I am supposed to be busy. South Florida has been purgatory for me. The past five years have felt like... Every time I tried to leave something major came up. I tell myself that it was meant to be this way, or I would have missed meeting my amazing boyfriend by chance, or missed too much with my older parents-- time I’ll never get back. One day I know I’ll appreciate it even more.

     When I started freelancing full time in 2015, running a business was great! I definitely have the entrepreneurial spirit, but the loneliness that came with it was not so great. After 21 you really don’t meet anyone at college, so your day job is your social network and I had a great job for that before freelancing... I didn’t realize how really intense hardships and a lack of a social network that is bigger than yourself will throw you into the kind of internal loneliness that’s hard to cope with, even if you have great friends and a great boyfriend like I do. 

     Being your own boss is a trial in itself. There is no get rich quick and easy scheme. It is a constant test of your skills and patience. Even being financially responsible is a skill-- you can’t spend your money too soon or you might not have money the next week. You don’t actually *know* if your phone will ring. In short, financial responsibility as a freelancer means the small chance you have a panic attack buying a shirt at Forever 21 with decent funds in your account. Tonight I’m lighting my own ass on fire to get photos edited from several shoots all done tonight. I think I’m gonna end up exporting over 150 polished photos. For all of my photographer buds out there, ya’ll know that’s hours upon hours of labor. I can average anywhere from 1 (to my all time high) of being booked every single day of the week sometime late 2016. So shit gets pretty crazy... I had three jobs last week (all in the sun too), and I’m burnt out. The number one hardship of working for yourself is reminding yourself that you’re only one person. My next post on work will come as a surprise though! I made a major positive change in my life and I’m trying not to jinx it.
