My hubby's black cat, Gracie, slipped out the door last Saturday night and hasn't been seen since. 😔 In searching for her, we learned that both our park AND the city FINES people for caring for stray cats! They trap them and either inhumanely dispose of them, or they're taken to the humane society. Humane Society of the Black Hills has little interest in adopting cats, as proven with lack of adoption programs (dogs only!) AND the fact they rooms full of "stray" cats that'll never make it to the adoption floor, much less their website. The local Petco does adoptions, except their cages are hidden behind merchandise and typically remain empty. Someone has to call put Rapid City for the absolutely ATROCIOUS and APPALLING way cats are treated here. Zero TNR programs, no professional rescues, little attempts to adopt homeless cats. Just SHAME ON YOU. #Repost @littlepawsofthevalley Stella - 10 year old, homeless lived in a car, then unwanted, dumped. DECLAWED ( by her previous owner to protect their furnitures & things ). She’s now with severe pain on her amputated toes, hardly gets up nor moves around, walking guarded in pain. For those who are not well informed about declawing, It’s a cruel procedure to amputate cat’s paws including part of joints which leave them with severe deformities & arthritis pain. They suffer in silence. Most vets will tell you it is ok to declaw😡. Stella is currently with a volunteer foster. She also has kidney issues which requires costly prescription renal diet with supplements. She’s such a sweet, gentle soul who has no voice of her own and defenseless. She’s a lap kitty and wants to be loved, but it hurts her even jumping on foster mom’s lap💔. We are desperately trying to preserve Stella’s quality of life by having Repair Surgery on her toes to relieve her constant pain. He was unwanted, hated there. A worker who fed him retired. The boss wanted the worker to take Parky home with him but worker’s wife doesn’t want the cat. Parky was left there to be starved to death. One of our rescuers brought Parky to the vet and temporarily boarding him in a cage while looking for a home. Parky is 12 years old, now neutered, fully vetted. He’s FIV+ ( It only means he has a low immune defense against infections, NOT a scary death sentence). FIV is only transmitted to other cats through deep bite wounds, but Parky has NO teeth left. And, as you can see he’s mellow, a little grumpy, do you blame him after all that he’s been through?! Does anyone have space, a quiet corner and warm bed for Parky to rest his tired head and body? We will help with his wet food ( he has no teeth, can only eat wet, soft food ). Also, if he ever needs future vet care, I have a solid reputable rescue to back Parky’s vet bills & expenses! All Parky needs is an indoor, warm and safe space to spend his golden years. He’s too old to be in the cold junk yard and fend his life.
