Spire's Destiny Experience 3: Who Burned Down The Library?
So for starters, I've skipped to D2. D1 was fun, but I was struggling due to my shitty PS4. Combined with finding out that the Grimoire is not easily accessible, and how im going to have to spend money on abandonware if i want to find out about Skinny Jeans Robot through anything other then a wiki page, I decided I got what I needed. I have friends who play D2, so the jump seemed easier.
(I might revisit it for Exo Stranger. She was really cool.)
for what's left of D1: I was getting into it with the whole plot about Razputin the massive supercomputer, then hit a wall with a vex fight that was definitely intended for more then one player. When talking to a friend about it (who has played destiny in the past) she said I should just skip to D2. (Tbf she was more then a little biased bc she wanted to play the game with me and didn't have a PS4.)
But now for a rant: who's idea was the grimoire. Who put all the lore in a box that is also super susceptible to web rot. They should have used Warframe's codex, which is hosted in the game and won't evaporate unless the game also disappears.
But anyways, Vex cool, Exo Stranger extra cool (I am gay for her), the awaken sure are. a group of people.
D2 thoughts: I wish I got this thorough of an opening with D1. I now know what's happening. That's nice lol.
This is just the same opening but with less snow. Labeling my new exo (who is exactly the same as the old one) Pyre-20. Her ass got rebooted.
They changed the intro from when I played this in like 2019. Who is this man. I dislike him already. Why did he get separated from his squad. Why couldn't he just go with them? I appreciate him trying to keep me out of harms way though. Too bad Pyre-20 is NOT listening to his ass.
Then my friend logged on and we played half the recap quests. RIP Cayde-6 you were a dumb fuck back there but clearly people liked you. They sure gave this himbo a whole lot of political importance huh. (Who adopted the hunters after their collective uncle died?)
Exo stranger is still so cool. Love her.

I read the newest Venom and Red Goblin issues…
Eddie was just so hot. Everything he did was hot. The tattoo is hot. The new powers are hot. I can’t be trusted to say many rational things about it
That being said, I have kinda mixed feelings on Eddie having powers of his own
The thing he did is literally what Flash did? Isn’t it? But Flash needed his codex to be in a living symbiote, while Eddie can do this on his own. Just saying it because Eddie needed 7.0 to tell him what to do, but back in KiB he was the one that gave Flash the idea. It does make sense that Eddie didn’t think of it because he didn’t know he could do it without a symbiote, but it’s kinda funny to me
(Also I will pay him to never say “human symbiote” again. I liked it better when his mind was on goo bodies)
(Damn it, it seems I won’t see him in reverse bonding with Symby…)
Himbo Frankenstein
(I keep my stance that Eddie is too mean to be considered a himbo)
The minions working for Meridius know what is going on. That is kinda odd to me
This issue answers the question I asked a while ago. It seems current Eddie did diverge from the timeline that ended up in Meridius. And he did so before stabbing Dylan. He never got to be the Bedlam that he met just now
Who decided to have all these children facing Carnage?? This makes me feel uneasy
I’m glad Rascal’s origin seems to be a plot point, since they just showed up out of nowhere so weirdly like that

Playing Wolfenstein (2009) now and. All through 3D, Return to Wolfenstein Castle, and Wolfenstein RPG, I was kinda going "Haha ok I know they technically take place in the same universe but like what if this was actually connected to Argent D'nur. I know it's supposed to be the actual Spear of Destiny but what if it was actually a Night Sentinel spear. What if this magic energy the Thule are harnessing is the same thing as the Sentinel Energy and/or Argent Energy. What if it's all connected." And I was mostly just thinking about it for the purpose of connecting it all for, y'know, fanfic stuff, but now that I'm playing Wolf2009... I may not like most of Hugo Martin's design choices, and even most of those I do like, I think could've been executed a lot better, but I gotta hand it to him, I think he really was doin his best to tie Wolfenstein and Doom together.
#pikspeak#bideogaem rambling :)#cuz i mean im like. 2 missions in to wolf2009 and we got.#glowing blue/cyan energy that is sometimes stored in canisters that look a lot like eternals sentinel batteries#relic powered by magic crystals; at least one of which is glowy and blue like a sentinel crystal#ancient civilization that worshipped the black sun; and the day of black sun was the day demons attacked taras nabad#the thule mysteriously disappeared and one intel piece i found hypothesizes it was after a cataclysmic event#and its briefly mentioned in eternals codexes that the sentinels were on earth for a bit during the unholy wars before humanity was around#idk if the thule WERE argenta; i dont think so really but they were definitely working on a similar path#idk man im learning so much Lore that technically applies to doom and i still have like 5 more wolf games to go#not to mention quake and commander keen#but thats good its good my brain is goin nuts and i am havin fun#i still dont like a lot of hugos choices but maybe a few of them are at least starting to make a little sense#still dont like em but at least i might be understanding WHY he decided to do what he did#maybe this is all about to be cintradicted by lore i just havent gotten to yet though well see#side note as soon as i heard bjs voice in wolf2009 i started yelling ITS PALADIN DANSE#and i was RIGHT theyre the SAME VOICE ACTOR#which is funny but i cant hear bj talk without goin heheheheheheheh danse#i also care danse. he made some. poor decisions. and is in a bad spot. but he is trying So Hard to do good.#big strong stupid and trying to do good.... man i really do fall for the himbos dont i.

The codex in hades game being technically Achilles is so weird to me bc he is in no way a scholarly/investigative character he’s like a dumb jock. I would call him a himbo but he is Not Nice. Like why did he start this Dora the Explorer map guide to the underworld if not like ??

Re: Asterius and Thesus from the Hades Game
Tumblr media
People ship them, which is great, because in this dynamic Theseus is the himbo and Asterius (the Minotaur) is an absolute morosexual
and at first I was like "haha funny ship" with these two because Theseus is one full himbo that’s also way too full of himself and Asterius is like, super chill, and you have to wonder why a cool dude like Asterius the Minotaur would hang out with such a braggart
and then I found out Asterius is in Elysium because Theseus wanted him there and he dragged him out of the saddest bits of Hades so he could have a rival slash BFF and is the reason he’s so beloved as a warrior of Elysium and got him dressed in fine armour and probably even did the matching laurels in his hair and I
Tumblr media
This is a quote about them from the codex:
[...] they say Theseus again discovered the Minotaur, whose soul had lingered restlessly at the edge of the Underworld, and Theseus took pity on him. Though, I think there is more to it than that.I think Theseus saw in the bull-man Asterius his greatest rival. Thus he offered Asterius a seat of honor in Elysium alongside him; a just result, for their fame and glory are intertwined.'

5x06 - A Very MacRiley Analysis
Obligatory post to answer the age-old question: What do you see in MacRiley?
I’d like to start this off by saying, like a lot of you, I had very minimal hopes for this episode. I really didn’t expect anything to happen on the MacRiley front—especially not something that would significantly impact that storyline.
But...I do enjoy being wrong.
Full transparency: this is not an episode review. If it were, I’d have to talk about the glaring plot inconsistencies and strange timeline. And I feel like I’ve already talked myself hoarse over that.
So, without further adieu, let’s get into the long-winded analysis.
The Cold Open
Absolutely irrelevant to the overall story and to this analysis. I just really like the way Mac says, “Riley, take the wheel,” and I thought it deserved an honorable mention.
“2020 Is Gonna Be Awesome”
Here, we cut to quarantine shenanigans. It’s cute. Fun. To see Riley and Bozer interacting like siblings again after so long just felt right.
Now, this is the pandemic, so of course conversations of toilet paper shortages arise. So Mac, in true MacGyver fashion, throws out some fun alternatives like newspaper and pine needles. And Riley shoots them all down, as she should.
Because in the immortal words of Desi in 5x04, “Ew.”
This is when Bozer mentions that they could use the cardboard from Riley’s moving boxes. A seemingly innocent suggestion on the surface. If you don’t pay much attention to it, it goes right by without any fuss.
However, at this point in canon, here’s what we know:
Bozer knows about Riley’s feelings for Mac
Riley has verbally told him that the reason she’s moving out is because of MacDesi. (Though her exact reasoning might’ve been intentionally misleading on her part)
So what does this mean? Well, to put it simply, Bozer is encouraging her to embrace living with Mac. To unpack her bags and stick around a while. A suggestion that Riley seems to ignore, as she says she’s dead set on getting out of there the second the pandemic allows.
Of course, the second she mentions moving, Mac picks back up with his beautiful Fauci song. Could it be that Himbo Barbie doesn’t like talking about Riley leaving? That’s open for interpretation.
Bonus points: Mac (incorrectly) blames Riley for not doing the dishes and it’s just adorably domestic.
Getting Fed
Again, this scene is insignificant. The OG trio sit down to dinner, with Desi and Matty on video chat. It’s cute.
But there is definitely something to be said for the way Riley looked at Mac when he mentioned having a private chat with Desi. My heart really went out to her there, because it must seem to her like she’s constantly being overlooked.
After dinner, Riley and Bozer share a brief conversation. She expresses a disinterest in discussing her feelings, and reaffirms her choice to move out.
But Bozer reminds her that she’s only moving out so she “doesn’t have to watch Mac and Desi together,” and that “At this moment, it doesn’t seem like they are.”
This scene is important for two reasons:
Bozer is clearly more supportive of MacRiley, which makes him honorary ship captain (as far as I’m concerned).
it reaffirms the fact that her feelings are still very real, no matter how hard the lady doth protest.
Kitchen Floor Confessional
You all know this one from promo. After a tense conversation with Bozer, Mac heads inside to do the dishes. Riley, being the helpful person she is, offers to lend a hand.
One thing leads to another, and the two wind up sitting on the floor by the sink, side by side. Just talking. The conversation comes to an end when Riley, who looks as though she wants to say something else, decides against it. (This “something else”, of course, would have been her confession).
Cue the somewhat longing, emotionally charged staring from both parties.
At this point, Mac says he’s going to go for a jog and abruptly leaves Riley alone in the kitchen. It’s clear by the look on her face that she feels, in some way, rejected. And the viewer is, at least for now, left to ponder why Mac seemed to cut the moment off so strangely.
Though one could hypothesize that, just like Riley’s being packed and ready to go, Mac’s running has a little more to do with the emotional distancing than physical.
The Parking Lot
Here we see Mac run off to speak to Desi. A scene I will not discuss at length, because the idea of playing footsie makes me cringe in the deepest recesses of my soul.
A little ways away, Bozer asks Riley if she told Mac about her feelings. She tells him she didn’t and that she’s glad, because she doesn’t want to be the thing that comes between them and their “happiness” (happiness is in quotes here because it seems like “anger” and “annoyance” are more common for them).
The dialogue in and of itself is not what I want to focus on here though. It’s the way the scene is framed.
Outside of the close-up shots for MacDesi’s conversation, much of the camera angles are from Riley’s perspective. Distant. Detached. The standpoint of an outsider looking in—of a girl watching the man she cares about being happy with someone else.
The camerawork here makes this more of a Riley-centric moment than a MacDesi one.
Which is important because, from a narrative standpoint, there is no reason to frame it that way unless her emotions are going to be focal later on. This entire exchange implies that, in some way, Riley’s feelings are, were, and will be important to the plot.
Yay for directorial story telling.
A Moment
What to say about this scene?
Mac has a heart to heart with Bozer and promises to be more present in his life. Bozer thanks him and begs him to finally clean the damn kitchen.
And agreeing, Mac turns away to do just that. Only, he stops himself short and tells Bozer he has one more thing he’d like to discuss.
The quote went as follows: “Kay, so...in the kitchen here a couple nights ago with Riley, there was a, uh...I don’t know, a moment.”
As I’m sure every MacRiley knows, him acknowledging that scene as a legitimate moment between them was incredibly unexpected. They’ve arguably had “moments” before, but only Riley ever seemed to notice them. Mac never mentioned having feelings, or even seemed like he might be aware of them.
This scene is the first time we’ve ever had direct confirmation that he feels—at least, in some capacity—the same way.
To make it even better, this scene happens directly after MacDesi’s footsie match in the parking lot. Which means that, even when he’s got positive momentum with Desi, he’s still got Riley on his mind.
Side note: I personally think this explains his behavior in 5x03. He doesn’t see Riley reciprocating, and he’s probably incredibly worried about screwing up all their history—an issue he doesn’t have with Desi, since they didn’t have much of a friendship first.
So he throws himself back into that in an attempt to smother his feelings. Will it work? Only time will tell.
Ending
After cleaning up the kitchen, Mac picks up the piece of glass he’d left on the floor and, surprise surprise, finally gets an idea for his ventilator. Some fans say this is Riley’s influence, which I can honestly see.
Especially given the quote Mac says at the end:
“When the world feels like it’s so turned upside down that it’s impossible to fix, it helps to look at things from a different angle. Because no matter how broken something appears—whether its your grumpy neighbor, your terrified best friend, your estranged girlfriend, or a shard of glass—that broken thing could inspire something new...Maybe even something better than before.”
I believe this is a direct foreshadow to MacRiley. Somehow, his fractured relationship with Desi will make him see what he COULD have with Riley. This “new angle” might even help him see that he’s better off as friends with Desi (something new), and that he might be happier in a relationship with Riley (something better).
And if you still don’t buy that, well...the scene transition seems pretty damning.
Tumblr media
There was absolutely no reason the camera couldn’t have faded to Bozer. Or to a shot of all three of them. This feels incredibly intentional, no?
In Conclusion
“Codex Adrenaline” and “Quarantine Cabin Fever” are cop-outs. Riley still likes Mac. Mac now likes Riley. And we are 100% going to see more development on that front. So is this a win?
I think so.
But I wanna hear from y’all. What did you like about this episode? What did you hate? Do you feel like they’re leading up to something bigger for MacRiley?
I’d love to hear y’alls thoughts.

Operation: "Ignore the Shitty Live Action Winx Show and Just Rewatch the Cartoon for the First Time in Almost a Decade" part 52:
Lord Stupid-Head Gets His Ass Handed To Him
Before I start watching lemme make fun of my child self for being gay: I remember how the dark!Bloom thing ends. Sky saves her by telling her he loves her or something. Which. Whatever. I don't care for the ship but that trope's always sweet
But I ALSO remember how itty bitty 7/8 year old me, who was definitely not gay and totally wanted a boyfriend like Sky someday, had Winx dolls. And that my cousin and I played a game that consisted entirely of Bloom or Stella going evil and the other having to bring her back
There were SIGNS is what I'm saying😂 Anyway I know the resolution is gonna be straight but here's hoping my child self got that idea somewhere and there's an angsty moment with the Girlfriends at least
That "evil" laugh is so fucking funny
I feel like Tecna's a season early with the heroic sacrifices here
It actually works out really well as a story thing that Aisha and Stella would be the ones to make it to Bloom and Darkar
1. They were the ones on the underground mission at the start of the season 2 so full circle 2. Aisha was the first to face Darkar so it makes sense she gets to face him at the end 3. Stella is in love with Bloom so obv she needs to be there
You can copy a codex??
Flora and Helia cute
DID STELLA JUST- dgfddhhhh fashion icon saves the day I stan😂
"Listen to us we're your friends!" I'll take it
I will from now on exclusively refer to Darkar as "Lord Stupid-Head" thank you so much for that Stella
The Sisters™️ combining their powers we love to see it
I can't believe Locket fucking died
Ah the ole "Boost Your Himbo" spell good choice
THE TRIX BEING SO DONE WITH THIS DUDE THEY'RE HELPING THE WINX YES!!!
Riven/Musa best canon ship
Aaand she's back to being the normal kind of adorable that isnt hilariously failing at being evil
Tumblr media
Friendship😁
Finally I got Tecna/Timmy being a gamer couple!
Don't think I didnt spot Mirta and Lucy dancing together. That was nice
"You know Musa, I never would have made it without you guys. Especially not without you. You're my best friend" 😭😭😭
what a wingwoman too! I love her sm
Kiko!! With wings!!!
Those group photos🥺🥺🥺

okay but like where to start actually. your development of dirthamen has been on point. absolutely perfect. like youve managed to maintain the core of his character that you established for him which can be hard with a canon character that actually doesnt have a lot of canon material. like you gonna end up developing the character far past their original canon incarnation but youve still instilled a base part of his character into him that just..works?? idk i just love the wise god of himbos
[What's your favorite part about my muse/portrayal] accepting
-------
All hail the wise god of himbos! XDDD
Developing Dirthamen and not entirely making him just my own OC was quite hard indeed, actually. Like we have at most a handful of vaguely worded codex tales about him from the canon material. What I tried to do is interpret these vague text in the way one would interpret real life folklore in the context of their revolving polytheistic religion. I took heavy inspiration from many polytheistic religions and always tried to stay within one common thematic with Dirthamen's depiction. Just like near every polytheistic culture has at least one trickster god, there are other themes that are ever present in most these religions. So I tried to see, which pattern and theme would fit the texts we have about Dirthamen and go from there.
I'm glad, it seems to have worked in the way, I intended it to go.

The onion thing in Hades is in the codex and gets written when you go to erebus and fail and get onions as a consolation prize. I suck ass at erebus because they always throw the fucking meowing chariots at me so I always get fucking onions lmao. But yea as the codex entry for the onions gets longer it's clear that Achilles does not like them (because he thinks they have to be eaten raw fbsbvdvsb himbo)
oh yeah see i only ever did erebus like 3 times and haven’t lost yet so i wouldn’t know GFDAFGF,,,, further proof achilles should not be allowed in the kitchen if this dude thinks you eat them like a fucking apple. guess that’s where zag got his pomegranate eating habits from

Dani reads tsc - The Shadowhunter’s Codex
I didn’t live-blog this one but here are some interesting tidbits I found during my re-read.
Henry collaborated with the iron sisters to work on a secret experiment. There are apparently no records about this and I am intrigued as to what chaos this man created in the citadel. I also love how the iron sisters were basically like “fuck all men except henry branwell.”
In the anecdotes, Jace mentions Alec is an expert in ‘Agility and Grace’ and I am honestly shooketh cause are you sure, Jace? This bitch? He fell off the stairs after making out with his boyfriend for the first time. Agility and Grace, my ass!
Jace also mentions he is an expert ‘Blending and Concealment’ which is the ability to pass off as a mundane and I am over here like YOU DON’T EVEN KNOW WHAT A MANGO LOOKS LIKE OMG!!!
Under weaknesses of demons, the codex cites the following example - compulsive need to count individual grains of spilled rice. YA’LL SOME DEMONS HAVE OCD!?!!?!
There is a type of demon called Kuri - which are spider demons that are large, shiny, black with eight pincer-tipped arms and fangs extending from their eye sockets - I hope Alec never has to fight one of these omg!!
The backstory about the Cluj institute in the 15th century, the vampire plague and the rise of Transylvania is SUPER interesting. I would definitely love to read more about this.
I fucking hate how the codex fails to mention Magnus’ name and his contribution to making the portals. He is only mentioned as “a warlock whose name history unfortunately does not record.” Hmmm very unfortunate indeed - and rather convenient too. It makes me wonder how many other downworld contributions have been overlooked and ignored by the clave.
Other than The Secret Treasons - one prequel I wouldn’t mind reading would be the Nephilim would be the nephilim origins. I would LOVE to read about Jonathan, David and Abigail - they are original precious himbo, cinnamon roll and bamf combination.
The first time Raziel rose from Lake Lyn, he asked Jonathan Shadowhunter what he wanted and the man wanted the angel to help his friends (David and Abigail) who were dying. I think this is a nice parallel to Clary asking Raziel to save Jace in the exact same place. NICELY DONE, CLARE.
I am also super interested in reading about the Hunts and Schism that happened during the medieval period. The witch hunts and massacre of the werewolves was absolutely horrible. I hate that the clave is like “oh we must talk about this we cannot ignore our bad deeds” but then only gives  a basic outline of what happened. TELL ME MORE, CODEX!!!
The Codex specifically mentions DO NOT DOODLE in the Notes Area and Clary did exactly the opposite of that. It has really cool art of our faves btw.
