It is a cool nod to the monster manual that Cazador's staff "Woe" has the spell "Blight" on it, beCAUSE!! Each race does not receive vampirism the same way and powerful elven vampires CAN IN FACT drain the life from the environment. The REAL QUESTION IS!! Does the curse of vampirism adapt to its host, or does it have strains? Like is Petras infected with elven vampirism??

I am a firm believer in The Suspension of Disbelief, like I have no problems with this, I am an avid fantasy enjoyer. But. There are very specific Notions. That just hit me like a horrid and pungent wet rag. And I need to get this burden off my chest. And it's always about. Smells.

1. Sulphur/brimstone smells like rotten egg. Or like a fart when you know something is Very Wrong with you. If you are including this in a description of a demonic being who is supposed to be sexy, I am sorry Justin was right I cannot be turned on in a room that smells like LITERAL poo.

2. Opposite this, ozone smells like vaguely garlicky.

3. I KNOW THIS ONE IS CONCEPTUALLY HOT. THIS ONE BREAKS MY HEART. but like...vampire people...period blood smells so bad. The Period Smell is well known. Period blood smells like a garbage disposal. I barely recognize it as blood because it's mostly Other Viscera that has exactly enough blood to be red. It is quite literally the unused garbage of the uterus, and it smells like it.

I love the "Where's the Chantry? Not in Darktown!" npc dialogue bc she gets it.

I fucking love Darktown. Like there's all these people, they're rotting here, they're dying here; in the sewers, in the dark. And where's the Chantry, for all its supposed charity, for all the gold they have in that huge church to build a gilded statue where the qunari used to be? Not here. They don't care about the poor dying folk of Darktown or even Lowtown. The city of Kirkwall lays on Darktown like a blanket, like a sheet or a shroud; covering up what those above don't want to see, what isn't pleasant. But there's a lantern light that promises healing and salvation for a minute, at least.

A shame my first brush with the famed Elminster couldn't be a tad more… optimistic.
