IT'S BABY TRIANGLE MOVIE DAY! Sorry to Mysterious Lotus Casebook but my tomb boys come first. I'll be back to you later.

Disclaimer: I adore DMBJ. It's been my main fandom for the past 3 years. But there's no denying it's utter nonsense so proceed in the knowledge that I will most likely be (fondly) roasting the shit out of this

I have no idea how many parts this liveblog is going to be. The movie is nearly 2 hours long, and those who have been around for a while will know that I am very Not Normal about these idiot boys.

Okay, I'm going in!

Okay, so we're starting with a flasback to grandpa Wu. Interesting.

Ah, shit, I forgot about the creepy dolls from the trailer and the poster. Thankfully it's lunchtime here so it's not dark. Yes, I am a wuss even when it comes to stupid tomb shows

Fic Writer Interview Meme

thank you for tagging me @hils79 ♥ this is a great way to avoid writing my pingxie wing au which i currently struggle with bc am editing it into a completely new shape :D it’s exhausting but am making slow progress~

name: vish or vishie. won’t even advertise my irl name when it comes to fic writing haha

fandoms: so many more than i’ve ever gotten to write for. i am simply very slow at writing and the stuff i get into is way too many so... yeah. the most i’ve written for are BTS, The Untamed and now DMBJ. the list for fandoms i’d love to write for is endless but currently at least Guardian is very high up there. i keep having ideas but writing? not as much.

two-shot: i wrote this one two-shot back when i was still writing fanfics in finnish for this one youtuber group lol. it was supposed to be a oneshot but it got super sad so i made it happier with a continuation later on.

most popular multi-chapter fic: uuhh i’d say it’s my BTS abo fic My Lungs for You to Breathe which is currently at 98k words and 18 chapters but which i haven’t updated in almost a year :D idk if it will ever get to the end but i have enjoyed spending time with it. (Statistics: Subscriptions: 227 Hits: 11718 Kudos: 461 Comment Threads: 89 Bookmarks: 153)

actual worst part of writing: uuuhhh it’s so hard to name one currently? trying to get things out like i want them to and still sounding coherent? figuring out words that sound good but also make sense? idk. i love writing but these days i’ve been very stuck and insecure about it :/

how you choose your titles: i throw in words. i throw in more words. i stir. ta-da!

do you outline: i have not outlined on paper ever in my life. in my head tho? yes, absolutely. i am just too lazy and awkward to write it down. then i forget. oops. or then i don’t forget and get haunted or possessed, there’s no in between.

ideas you probably won’t get around to, but wouldn’t it be nice: this one historical au for Guardian which would also include some reincarnation themes. it would require a ton of research so am a bit scared. also, a DMBJ cultivator au just so that i could have pingxie and heihua meet in very different circumstances and have them use cool magic stuff. plus all the other characters having neat stories and skills and outfits. me and @ashenlights are throwing around a ton of ideas probably every day and have a docs file and some pins on pinterest etc :’D i will never probably actually write this bc it would get way too huge but the brainstorming is nice ♥ also i have this one pingxie reincarnation/soulmates au that haunts me currently but idk if i will have the motivation to write that.

and then my personal favorite: a fic for The Journey Across the Night where i get to explore the main trio’s relationship developing throughout the series (and probably even after that) while each of them slowly figures out how much they love the other two. first part would be shi cheng who first watches chacha and li jia having a crush on each other meanwhile he ignores any of his own feelings towards li jia and what he’s doing to distract himself from that. second part would be chacha who notices shi cheng’s feelings for li jia and tries to figure out how she will take that while maintaining her own developing relationship with li jia plus her family problems. last part would be li jia who follows chacha and shi cheng going from friends to something else. he doesn’t understand. he has a lot of other stuff in his mind. there’s his alter making his first appearance. he might or might not be in love with both of his friends but needs a tiny nudge to get it, especially with shi cheng. i lack the skill and words to accomplish any of this so i just like to daydream.

callouts @ me: actually the same as for you hils, that’s a good call out :’D i really should try some female characters once in a while. but they have slowly come a part of my stories at least? another one would be: pls for the love of god learn more vocabulary. and ways to form sentences. and like,,, stop editing those sentences so much, they’re fine.

best writing traits: uuuhhh can i just skip this? these days it’s not easy to find anything positive to say about my own writing or my process with it. i am a mess. some stuff makes sense, a big part does not. maybe emotion but i feel like i cannot manage that either in a way that would satisfy me? persistence works too. i rarely abandon things completely.

spicy tangential opinion: um. yours was very good hils, that made me so happy ^^ i should really try not to pressure myself to be perfect either just for the acknowledgement etc. this is a hobby yes and should be fun. which it is. but i struggle still sigh. idk what else to add really? write whatever you like. write those themes that you want to see. write the characters you want to see written in the way only you feel about them. write that pairing no one else has written. write for the fandom that doesn’t even show up on ao3. write for yourself, truly. write for your tiny group of friends who yell at you and are lovely and as crazy as you ♥ enjoy the process despite it being awful at times. writing is learning but also, don’t only just pressure yourself to improve with every sentence you write. i tend to do that a lot bc am so desperate to be better but i cannot force that into me. i gain experience slowly and learn at my own pace. i need to allow myself that. and sometimes i just need to allow myself to write whatever and have fun with it and not think about how much sense everything makes or if the characterization is 150% perfect. thanks for coming to my ted talk haha

this was so nice :’) it’s sometimes nice to think about myself as a writer and then come up with things that i should take note of more often. i hope to write so much. i have so many ideas. my heart is filled with love for some many things. praying for all the time and inspiration for myself and all of my writer friends ♥

Fic Tag Game

Grabbed from @hils79, because it looked like fun.

Name: Merinnan, which I’ve gone by for... fifteen years now, I think? Prior to that, I mostly used Calicia (and sometimes Zoi).

Fandoms: Like Hils, I’m only going to list the fandoms I’ve actually written fic for.

Star Trek: My very first fandom, and the one I’ve written the most fics for (so far - I suspect that DMBJ will overtake it. It certainly already has in terms of word count). I was (and am still) primarily a DS9 fan, and was a huge Kira/Dukat and Garak/Bashir shipper back in the day. Most of my Trekfics are DS9 fics, but I also dabbled a little bit in TOS and TNG, and had one or two crackfic crossovers that involved Voyager characters. Discovery has tempted me with a few fic ideas, but I haven’t written anything for it yet.

Bishoujo Senshi Sailormoon: aka, the show that first had me seriously questioning my sexuality. Look, Haruka and Michiru are #goals, don’t judge me. This is also where my Zoi name came from, after the first season villain Zoisite, whom I cosplayed several times. Unsurprisingly, my main ships are HaruMichi and KunZoi. Despite this fact, neither of my published Sailormoon fics are HaruMichi.

Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040: A short-lived fandom, but one I still liked enough to write a fic for and get the OST CD.

World of Warcraft: I wouldn’t say I’m really part of the fandom, per se, but I’ve been playing since the dying days of Burning Crusade, am a huge lore nerd, and started writing a crossover fic that is currently on indefinite hiatus. I do plan to come back and finish it, but first RL got in the way, and now I have to try and remember where I’d actually been planning to go with it.

A Court of Thorns and Roses: That crossover fic I just mentioned? Yeah, this is what it’s a crossover with. ACoTaR fandom went sleepy for awhile, but it’s back up and kicking now that A Court of Silver Flames is out - if any of you are still following me, it’s great to see everyone active again! To the surprise of no-one who knows me, I’m a big Nessian shipper.

Mo Dao Zu Shi / Chen Qing Ling / The Untamed: I came to this fandom via ACoTaR, actually, after a certain person (hi, @rhysand-vs-fenrys!) wouldn’t stop gushing about it :-) This is the fandom that really and seriously got me back into regular fic writing again after 15-ish years. I’m a multishipper here, and have written / am writing WangXian, NieLan, XiCheng, XuanLi, and XiSang.

Guardian / Zhen Hun: MDZS fandom led me to Guardian, which, along with DMBJ, has devoured my life in a way that hasn’t happened since my Star Trek days, and I love it! WeiLan is my major ship, but I’m also quite fond of the DaMian life raft.

Zhu Yilong: Yes, I’m going to list a person as a fandom. Zhu Yilong is one of the stars of Guardian, and is both incredibly pretty and an incredibly talented actor. So much so that I have suffered through some truly terrible dramas just to watch him in them. I do not write Z1L-fic, since RPF of living people is a personal squick of mine, but I am working on a massive crossover fic of most of his characters.

Mo Du: Guardian led me along to more of Priest’s works, such as Mo Du, which is now officially my favourite book, and I adore the main WenZhou ship. The Mo Du fandom right now is pretty tiny, and I’m still working on my first fic for it, but I hope that it will grow with the donghua due out this year, and the drama having just started filming.

Daomu Biji / The Lost Tomb: I initially came into this fandom because of Zhu Yilong, who played Wu Xie in the Reboot / Reunion / Chongqi drama, and then I got sucked into the fandom pit of all of the books and dramas and spinoffs, and it’s wonderful and fantastic. I have written so much for it, and have so much more planned. PingXie and PingXieSang are my main ships here, but I’m also a HeiHua fan, and very much enjoying the RiSang pool noodle that @kholran created.

Tropes: Hurt/Comfort and crack are my major ones.

Fic I spent most time on: A toss-up between Endings and Beginnings and Reunion, both DS9 fics. Endings and Beginnings is an alternate ending to the show, while Reunion is a Gul Dukat-centric fic set around, oh, season 5ish? Both were written for and initially published in print fanzines, so in addition to time spent writing, there was a lot of back and forth for editing, etc.

Favourite fic(s) you’ve written: Look, I honestly couldn’t say. I like most of the fics I’ve written, and there are several that I’m really proud of and really like.

Fic I spent least time on: Silent Graves, a super angsty DMBJ/Lost Tomb Xiaoge fic. I think I wrote it in like 15 minutes.

Longest fic: Cat’s Paw, a DMBJ/Lost Tomb PingXieSang canon rewrite fic I co-wrote with @xantissa, at 247 826 words. For fics written by just me, not with a co-writer, then that would be Nevermore, my WIP MDZS/CQL XiCheng Pacific Rim AU, at 22 276 words and counting.

Shortest fic: Every entry in my DS9 Drabbles series, with each one at exactly 100 words. Although if you count them as a quintdrabble, then Indiscretion (a DS9 missing scene vignette about Gul Dukat, set during the episode of the same name) at 169 words.

Most hits/kudos/comments/bookmarks/subscriptions: The answer to all of these is either Cat’s Paw or Nevermore, so I’m going to give the next highest.

Hits: Those who fear darkness have never seen what light can do, a DMBJ/Lost Tomb PingXie supernatural AU fic co-written with xantissa.

Since this fic also takes the highest kudos, bookmarks, and subscriptions after Cat’s Paw/Nevermore, I’ll skip to the next fic along on each of those.

Kudos: Stars fall like diamonds, a DMBJ/Lost Tomb PingXie missing scene fic from Reboot/Reunion/Chongqi.

Bookmarks: A Knight in Bloody Armour, another DMBJ/Lost Tomb PingXieSang supernatural AU fic (but a different supernatural AU) co-written with xantissa.

Comments: Ears and Other Related Calamities, yet another DMBJ/Lost Tomb PingXieSang supernatural AU fic (of a different again supernatural AU) co-written with xantissa.

Subscriptions: The Rescue Job, a Guardian WeiLan Leverage AU, currently at one chapter complete and posted out of a planned five chapters.

Fic you want to rewrite/expand on: We have plans for a prequel and a sequel to A Knight in Bloody Armour, and a spinoff fic for The Zhang Identity (a DMBJ/Lost Tomb PingXie AU that is complete but not yet posted. It will be posted in April as part of the Small Fandoms Big Bang).

Share a bit of a WIP: This is from an as-yet-unnamed post-canon fix-it fic for the Guardian drama:

It was hurting again. Zhao Yunlan curled up into a tight ball under the hospital blankets, trying to ignore it enough to try to get back to sleep. He knew it wouldn't work, because he couldn't remember a time when it ever did, but it was always worth a shot, right? He squeezed his eyes shut and held himself tightly for a few...moments? Minutes?...before grabbing his stuffed cat and clutching it while he forced himself to breathe deep, slow breaths the way the doctors back in Spring City had taught him.

Eventually, the pain died back down to its usual dull ache, the one that was bearable and let him play, and watch TV, and do school lessons with his mother. One day, she said, they'd find a doctor who knew what was wrong, why he hurt all the time, and the doctor would give him medicine that would keep the worst pain away so that he could go to an actual school and meet more kids than the ones who lived in their apartment block or who frequented the same playground that he liked to go to.

Zhao Yunlan tried closing his eyes again, seeing if he could go back to sleep, but he was far too awake now. He sighed, sitting up in bed and looking around the room. Again. It was just like the hospital rooms in Spring City, and in Kiyota City. He figured that if the doctors here in Tomorrow Mountains couldn't help, his parents would take him to yet another city, and the hospital rooms there would probably look the same, too.

Then, over the faint beeping of hospital equipment, and the quiet murmurs further down the corridor of nurses at the nurse station or seeing to other patients, he heard a soft sniffling sound, like someone was trying not to cry too loudly. He picked up his stuffed cat and looked at it.

"What do you think, Dead Cat?" he asked it. "Should we go and find them?"

Dead Cat didn't answer, of course, but that didn't stop Zhao Yunlan from assuming that it agreed with him, and slipping out of bed. His feet touched the cold tile floor with barely a sound, and, still holding Dead Cat tightly, Zhao Yunlan padded over to the door. He looked up and down the corridor, then left his room to track down the sniffling noise.

He wasn't surprised that it came from the next room. He was surprised that it came from another kid, a boy who looked to be about his age, huddled in bed and wiping his eyes.

"Hi," Zhao Yunlan whispered. The other boy looked up in surprise, then stopped to clutch his chest as he began to cough. Once he'd finished coughing, Zhao Yunlan and Dead Cat were perched on the end of his bed.

"I'm Zhao Yunlan, and this is Dead Cat." He held up Dead Cat, moving one of the paws to wave hello. "What's your name?"

The boy wiped his eyes again. "Shen Ye."

Part 3 very much later than the rest because I had to pause 10 mins from the end for my weekly group watch and then dinner

Aww this reminds me of the stupid CGI monster at the end of Lost Tomb 2.5

I love that it clawed a hole in Xiaoge's hoodie but didn't hurt him at all

HAHA! Amazing! The hole in his hoodie was just so we could get this lil peek at his tattoo

Again with the whole leaving Xiaoge behind thing. I don't like it.

It's not quite cool guy walking away from an explosion in slow motion but close enough

Oh no Wu Xie is now deeply hallucinating

And of course he's seeing his uncle. This poor kid and all his trauma

Definitely not me crying because Pangzi and Xiaoge were there to snap him out of it

Gosh I am so soft for these idiot boys

That was...fine? It was a fun action adventure story, but I don't think it contributed anything new to the existing canon. I'm curious why they decided to set this right before the Iron Triangle retire to Yucun but then cast such young actors. Honestly, this could have been set during any period of DMBJ and it would have made no difference to the plot.

So, yeah, enjoyable but probably not one I'll come back to and watch again.

Edit: @silver-colour pointed out there was a mid-credit scene so I'm back

How long do we think it will be before Wu Xie blows up or somehow destroys these artifacts that he's vowing to protect?

We are 25 mins into this movie and Xiaoge hasn't uttered a single word. This is why Hei Xiazi calls him Mute Zhang :D

He spoke!

I'm enjoying Xiaoge's action scenes in this. Look at him spidering on this wall to stop it collapsing

Ah, fuck. We're back in the creepy doll room.

This dude just vomited up his own eyeball and now I also want to puke

The pingpang is strong in this movie

Xiaoge just grabbed Wu Xie and yeeted him through the rapidly closing door. Must keep both his idiot husbands safe

And a lil bit of Pangxie as a treat

I've been thinking. I'm enjoying this, but the movie isn't really giving us much of the relationship stuff. The thing that made the HeiHua movie so good is that it was as much about Hei Xiazi and Xie Yuchen's relationship as it was about the tomb stuff. This hasn't really given us anything like that so far it's all just been about advancing the plot. I know these three love each other, because I'm familiar with the franchise and the characters, but if someone was using this as their introduction I don't know that they'd necessarily get that these three have been through hell and back together.

Well that's your first mistake

Is he communicating with the stone? Or just feeling the vibrations so he can tell the arm choppy door has reopened? Not quite sure what's happening here

Oh, shit, the baby triangle are in the room where the dude died in the opening scene

Xiaoge once again being very quick to save both his husbands

I love that Xiaoge is basically Spider-man in this movie

Okay, I am cackling at Xiazi being translated to Blindie. But also, I am fairly sure even training with Xiazi would not enable Wu Xie to do the series of twists and flips he just did.

Pangzi just Incredible Hulk ripped his jacket in half to use it to cover some of the mirrors. I'm fine.

I did very much enjoy the sequence of the three of them working together to cover all the mirror. But I think Pangzi got hit by a beam right at the end oh no. PROTECT HIM.

I know Xiaoge is trying to stop Pangzis neck from being snapped but this really is starting to feel like the pingpang movie

I love it when they get caught in traps that need all three of them to get out of it *cries in baby triangle*

OH FUCK

See, this is what I mean. If this is post Bronze Gate I can't imagine either of them agreeing to leave Xiaoge behind without at least arguing about it first. I know they have no choice but, hell, remember when Wu Xie cried in Ultimate Note because he had to choose between carrying Pangzi or Xiaoge out of a tomb and that was relatively safe compared to this

Okay, Wu Xie does at least look back before they go and he's clearly not happy about it

Ah, yes, that is peak tomb nonsense

Wu Xie: Pangzi, what is this nonsense you've packed? Also Wu Xie: immediately uses it because it's actually really helpful

Let's be real. Nowhere you three go is normal.

Ooh pretty! But also in the middle of a cursed forest so probably going to try and kill them all

No one eat the cursed food!

Pangzi! No!

Okay, even though the actor is young I feel like 'let's just watch and see what happens to the dude who ate the food' is something post-Sha Hai Wu Xie would do. Tianzhen Wu Xie would definitely have tried to stop him.

Pangzi knows what franchise he's in

OH SHIT PANGZI IS EATING THE FOOD

Wait, that looks like Wu Xie. Is this a hallucination?

Ah, there we go. Well, it wouldn't be DMBJ without at least one hallucination

They both took a part out of the van to stop anyone being able to steal it but neither knew the other had done the same. God, they are so married I love them.

God, I love how extra Xiaoge is. Decides to drink the cursed wine so he can see the ghost that's attacking them but instead of just picking up a cup he stabbed it with his sword.

Who are you going to call? Xiao Hua and Hei Xiazi are in Russia, your two husbands are with you. That basically leaves your Ershu, Wang Meng or Kan Jian. Ooh, you should totally call Kan Jian. He must be a child at this point if Wu Xie is this young

That is delightfully creepy

NO DON'T SPLIT UP! :( On the plus side this is an improvement from the last movie where they kept leaving Xiaoge behind with barely a second thought.

I was just thinking we haven't seen any of Wu Xie's incredibly out of character flips and kicks that we saw in the last movie. I guess that's the end of that. Thankfully.

ZOMBIE! They're bringing in a lot of the classic DMBJ monsters I see

I think some weird editing happened here. I had to skip back to check and we don't actually see Xiaoge cut his hand. He just holds it up to the door and the vine things disappear. And when the old dude says 'what happened to your hand' Xiaoge has a glove on and then all of a sudden here it's gone. Presumably he used his blood to clear the door but who knows

I do enjoy it when he gets to be a smug little shit

Pangzi clearly enjoys it too

Okay, I know it makes sense to have someone watching your back but you literally just reunited and now you're splitting up again

At least Pangzi is also grumpy about being left behind

Hils Watches Misty Creed - Part 1

This was supposed to have been released at the end of October but finally it is here.

I wasn't hugely enamoured with the last movie but I'm always here for my blorbos and maybe this one will address some of the issues I had with the first one.

Okay, let's go!

I forgot these new movies are more horror. So we're starting with what looks like a demon baby

I have a squick about pregnancy anyway so this is going to go well for me

I do love that both movies have started with flashback horror like an episode of Supernatural

Oh, dude, you just abandoned your heavily pregnant wife who may be about to give birth to a demon. This is not going to end well for you.

First scene in the present day and Wu Xie is in trouble and calling for Pangzi to save him *sighs happily in pangxie*

THERE'S MY BOY

Ooh he strong! Holding up a whole coffin by himself to stop Wu Xie going splat. I love this already.

And of course Xiaoge bursts in to help his husbands. God I love all three of them so very much.

Wait if Xiaoge could use his special Zhang fingers to punch a whole through the coffin lid to give Wu Xie one of his hairs why doesn't he just make the hole bigger and pull Wu Xie out? Unless there's something else going on beyond 'Wu Xie trapped in coffin'

And then he just ripped the lid off. Why didn't he do that before? Well, it's not DMBJ if there's not plot holes I guess :D

He had a whole coffin plus all of Wu Xie's weight on one shoulder but he's acting like helping Wu Xie stand up takes all of his strength. It's okay, Pangzi. You can admit you just want to keep touching him.

Ah hah! So this ties in to the post-credit scene from the last movie. So this is the person Xiao Hua said he was sending to Wu Xie while he adventures in Russia with Hei Xiazi (at least that's where I assume he is)

Xiao Hua's family owes this dude, but he was too busy with his boyfriend so he told him to come and see Wu Xie instead. Xiao Hua isn't even here and I love him.

HAHAHA! God, I love these idiots so much!

Oh shit if Xiaoge feels strongly enough about something that he actually says it out loud then you listen.

I am absolutely losing it over the idea that Xiao Hua apprently has a business running an escape room based on a tomb. He's such a nerd I adore him.

Pangzi is so outraged that Xiao Hua charged them to do the escape room, then billed them for destroying the probs AND they have to go off on an adventure to repay one of Xiao Hua's family debts. I'm sure Words will be had at Pangzi and Xiao Hua's next spa date.

I love that even though Wu Xie is allegedly the brains of their group (did you know he has a degree in architecture?) it's Pangzi who has thought of the practical things that they'll need for a misty environment.

Wait, what happened to Xiaoge's sword? I know he lost the original one during Ultimate Note era but Wu Xie replaced that one.

Ah, okay. Apparently Xiaoge's original sword came from the place they're going so I guess we're ignoring the Ultimate Note replacement so they can find a new one for him here. Who needs consistency when you're NPSS.

I'm losing my mind at 'xiongdi' being subbed as 'mate'. In my head these hunters now all have British English accents.

Is it really Wu Xie if he's not having terrible ideas?

Right, I'm only 20 mins into the movie but I'm at the image limit. Onward to part 2!

Very much enjoying Fang Duobing and Di Feisheng working together to protect Li Lianhua. I hope we get more of that.

This really is the worst kept secret in the jianghu. I think Fango Duobing is the only one who doesn't know at this point

Oh my god is the wine made of people?

I was going to make a joke that Li Lianhua plays up being pathetic when he's got two big strong men there to protect him. But actually it's probably not far from the truth. How many times do you think he's had to stay awake, or at least on guard, for fear that someone might figure out his identity and come looking for him. Now he's with two people one of whom knows his identity and one who has sworn to protect him no matter what. It's actually safe for him to relax and get some sleep so he's going to do just that.

Oh my god. Fang Duobing offered Di Feisheng some bread and Di Feisheng took it! I'm crying.

AND THEN DI FEISHENG SHARED HIS WATER WITH FANG DUOBING. Are they in love now? Is that's what's happening here? MY HEART.

Look at those eyes. Has he learned the puppy eyes from Fang Duobing?

Why do I feel like Di Feisheng is about to ruin this romantic moment

Oh, shit, whatever they got drugged with has triggered his poison

How quickly Fang Duobing has gone from 'I'm not saving him!' to being genuinely worried about him

Of course Li Lianhua was just pretending to sleep and now he's going to fight a hoard of martial arts zombies by himself because his boyfriends both got drugged. Li Lianhua, that will kill you!

You don't normally mind

I know they needed to sort out their injuries because the zombies are attracted to the scent of blood, but the three of them seem remarkably unconcerned that Li Lianhua just got kidnapped by a zombie

Feeling Fine and Normal about this

Haha! He literally only got as far as saying the A of A-Fei's name and Di Feisheng did what Fang Duobing was going to ask him to do. I think this means they officially share a braincell now

This dude: Ohhhh! I didn't realise the three of you were together

You can see why he's the detective. Did the missing head give it away?

I love that Di Feisheng has just naturally taken on the role of leader while Li Lianhua is gone. He might not remember being the leader of his sect but instinctively that's who he is

Okay, I really shouldn't be doing this, but I keep seeing gifs and how am I supposed to resist two of my DMBJ boys in the same drama. Especially when one of them is Cheng Yi who I love.

Also, I promised @xantissa I would check it out and report back.

I'm only going to be watching this in slow time because I really want to finish The King's Avatar, but on a weekend when I have a bit more free time I can squeeze in an ep here or there. So there won't be regular updates for this one.

Also, I don't have a VIP iqiyi account so I can't watch it too fast anyway :D

I think I read that people involved Blood of Youth and Love and Redemption were involved in this? Or it has similar vibes to them? Either way I loved both of those dramas so I am hopeful for this one

I'm only on the opening credits but, god, look at him. He's so good at looking tortured and pretty

Good news for me, bad news for everyone else. It's time for me to watch another cdrama and since I'm already watching one I'm just going to start watching this daily instead of the occasional episode on a weekend.

If you thought I wasn't normal about this before, prepare for me to be even less normal now that I'll be watching it every day.

I can't believe I've watched 12 episodes of this and I've only just realised that Liu Yuning sings the opening theme song. Now it's even more DMBJ adjacent

Wait, what happened at the end of the last episode? Why is his arm in a sling now? Oh, is it from when he fell in the pond?

I can't believe that after all this time Di Feisheng managed to sneak up on Li Lianhua but he gasped and jumped. Is this like when animals pretend to be 'hunted' by their young?

Oh, yeah, I forgot he 'quit'. See, this is why watching things in slower time is a bad idea. I forget what happened. God, I've turned into one of those people who needs the 'previously on' that they used to have when shows aired weekly

Every case Li Lianhua tells everyone what happened, the murderer laughs and says there's no proof, then proof magically appears. I am rather fond of it.

I love that Di Feisheng keeps saying he doesn't care about cases and then threatening to torture confessions out of people. I'm quite sure he's actually having fun solving crime with Li Lianhua he's jut not ready to admit it yet

I think everyone needs to admire the restraint it's taken for me to not ditch my other dramas and just binge this instead. It's quite nice having it as weekend treat though.

I love that Fang Duobing doesn't actually work for them but they're not actually making any attempt to stop him from solving cases
