Hibari looks like the prettiest Disney princess while she sobs for her dear beloved prince, poetically sighing and longing for him, and Helmeppo looks like he's been crying for a whole fucking week, without sleeping, eating, or doing basic human functions because if you take Koby away from him he probably will just kill himself

Facts:
1. Hibari is Dino’s student
2. Dino was Reborns student
3. Tsuna is Reborns student
4. Dino calls Tsuna brother because they’re both students of Reborn
Conclusion: Uncle Tsuna
Dino would be the one to drop this and sprint back to Italy. Like imagining him just “Be good for your Uncle Tsuna and Grandpa Reborn” and running for the fucking hills before either Hibari or Reborn can actually murder him.
Tsuna is mostly questioning whatever god can hear him on what exactly he did to deserve this

Mukuro
With the task of describing Mukuro in front of her, she first thought to describe his personality, which was the loudest part about him- she thought. He was very charismatic, and had some kind of a devilish 'danger' aura to him. With the others, Haru could feel safe and secure and yet around him, she couldn't help but feel on edge. Hard to really put it into words, but trust and Mukuro could only fit in a sentence together if the sentence was: I can trust Mukuro-san to make fun of me and or try to ruin my day.
She wouldn't say he's an enemy by any means, but he's definitely someone that she started to associate with 'i'm about to be made fun of QmQ' and she didn't quite appreciate that. She puts up with it for Chrome, she'd assure you. Looks... well? You know? The easiest way to pick him out from the crowd is his hairstyle, right? The pineapple? Jokes aside, he had a dangerous attractiveness to him. Also, his eyes are very unique, so that sets him apart from others. Very tall. Usually has some kind of a devilish smirk on his face. She can understand why Hibari-san hates him so much. She's heard that if they're in the same room together, it's on sight. Haru secretly wants to watch it with a box of popcorn.
Yamamoto
How to describe Yamamoto Takeshi... there were many words she could say but to sum it into a few: he's dog energy. He's friendly and easy to get along with. You could introduce yourself to him and he'd consider you a friend within minutes. That's how friendly he is. He's very athletic and loyal to his interests and his friends. That is what's admirable about him. His drive, his never ending energy to work towards his goals, and his willingness to listen to others and understand them. He accepts people for who and what they are. IS THAT NOT DOG ENERGY? Haru would die on this hill.
He's a good friend, Haru would describe him as, someone who is willing to accompany you if you're feeling lonely, and would support you if you asked for it. If she had to describe his looks... SUPER tall. He may be the tallest person she knows in their age group? His smiles have this boyish charm to it that is comforting and infectious? It makes you want to smile along with him. If you looked at him, you'd see: that's what 'friend-shaped' would look like if it was a human. That's how she'd describe him.

So apparently I have hit a milestone while going full bore on my bullshit. There’s fifty of y’all now who decided you were getting enough out of this blog to follow along, and that’s mildly neat. Didn’t really expect that. We’ve had a lot of fun talking One Piece and other anime so I dunno, wanted to do something to mark the occasion and letting y’all know a bit more about my tastes seemed like it could be a lark. Shouldn’t be a shock that One Piece is my favorite anime/manga franchise...so here’s the rest of a top 10! No particular order, whys under the cut. Beyond that, consider me open to lightly personal asks for a bit too, just if you were curious.
TOP LEFT - Ranma 1/2: Okay...confession time. Eiichiro Oda is not actually my favorite mangaka. He’s pretty much only given us One Piece and there are several questionable aspects of his style. As a person and professional, I adore Rumiko Takahashi. Inuyasha was a huge deal for me as a teen. Mermaid Saga has been a fun recent read. Maison Ikkoku is one of my next big purchases planned. But Ranma, Ranma guys...it’s a stone-cold classic. Boy cursed to take the form of a cute girl when doused with water gets involved in a web of romantic pursuits stapled to bizarre martial arts competitions. It’s so silly, it’s honestly pretty smart when it wants to be. Fun shonen with a backdoor to maybe, just maybe giving young men a little empathy about what the girls in their lives are dealing with. This kind of blend is why Takahashi is such a goddamn legend and manga pioneer. Team Shampoo for life.
TOP MIDDLE - YuYu Hakusho: Yeah, it means more to me than Hunter x Hunter. This was one of the most important anime series for me to stumble across. Adult Swim back in the early 00s. It’s what showed me there was a much cooler world of more mature anime out there. Kurama was also a first anime crush and that sparked a lifelong love for plant-based superpowers because that’s probably what I would have if we lived in a cooler world. This is as infinitely rewatchable to me as The Simpsons or King of the Hill, and it even got more meaningful given my boyfriend and I bonded over it early in our relationship.
TOP RIGHT - Paranoia Agent: Another 00s Adult Swim classic, but one it took me a while to properly sit down and watch. I’m...generally a little too squishy for the truly screwed up anime out there but this one I could handle. And I love it. Especially as an adult that has had moments I wish a “Lil Slugger” could give me an out from day-to-day problems. “Happy Family Planning” is such a friggin masterpiece. Same with the most kickass lady in the series talking the monster down. I can’t recommend it easily because it does get into things like suicide casually, but man is it so good at what it wants to do. So short but it leaves such an impact.
MIDDLE LEFT - Kaguya, Love is War: I needed one episode of this to know it’d be a favorite. It’s a silly little high school romcom that has no business being as good as it is but I love every minute of Kaguya and Shirogane’s wild ride. That ending? Facepalmed because it was obviously the only way those two could end up of course. But I also love this series for being willing to be real, calling out gendered double standards and talking frankly about sex in a way that never feels inappropriate. But more than anything it’s a riot! The English Dub just makes me like it more for the headcanon this is all a story Brook is making up to kill time.
CENTER - Stop!! Hibari-Kun: I’ve talked about this one before. Shonen romcom where the everyboy lead is pursued by the perfect girl...who happens to be trans. It’s funny, heartfelt, and so ahead of its time in so many ways. Not to mention the fashion! It’s a cool series made cooler by it’s unique place in manga history.
CENTER RIGHT - Nana: Hey! It’s another one Oda namedropped! I remember being so excited when Shoujo Beat magazine had it’s run here in the US. Had a subscription for issue 1 and let it run for two years. So fun getting that in the mail as a teen even if my Mom groaned about it every time. This was their flagship and it isn’t hard to see why. A very real, even kinda gritty story about early adulthood. The odd couple roommates but the conflict isn’t really as much about them fighting. It’s about women supporting each other and finding their way together. And like Kaguya, it doesn’t shy away from some real problems women that age might have to deal with, even if they’re unsavory to discuss.
BOTTOM LEFT - Revolutionary Girl Utena: Trippy, weird, gay as hell, and has a good point by the end. I just adore everything about Utena. It flew over my head when I was a young teen watching it, but I still enjoyed it. Going back later though, I think this might be one of the smartest anime I’ve ever seen. Only problem is you can’t really describe why it’s awesome without spoiling it. But even little tricks like burying massive twists in clip show episodes...awesome. If I made a manga, this would be the main influence.
BOTTOM MIDDLE - Cardcaptor Sakura: Catch you catch you catch me catch me daaaatte... I’m so glad I got to see this as a kid Sakura’s age. It was always just such a comfy show as a kid. Tomoeda is the type of small town I wish I could have grown up in instead of Biblethumping and letting everything go to shit because all the adults cared about was phony moral outrage. Aside from that though, an almost perfect example of a Magical Girl series. Solid gay rep for the time too which I enjoyed. I say “almost” though because goddamn do I hate the Rika/Mr. Terada side of it. Too far CLAMP, even with the anime reining it in.
BOTTOM RIGHT - Fruits Basket: I was a fanatic about this manga when I was about 14-15. Then it came back with the anime adaptation it always deserved! It’s so hard to pin down what makes Fruits Basket so good, ostensibly it’s just kind of a reverse harem romcom. But its so heartfelt and unfraid to be comfy and sweet. It also gave me Ayame to salivate over. Between him, Kurama, Izo, & Cavendish...I think I have a type.

How does it feel to live in an elite housing complex of Hibari Hill and witness a murder? A reputable doctor was killed in that complex. People have been questioning on “who is the muderer?” And “why is he killed?” Little did we know that this will lead the readers to unveil those so-considered elite families in Hibari Hill. One thing I realise in this book is that the plot of the story is simple. I do not know about other translated versions but at least that is my opinion on the Bahasa Indonesia translated one. The language style is just so flowwy and digestible dragging the readers into the story. What fascinate me the most is how Kanae depicts the women esp the mothers living in Hibari Hill. She kindda shows her readers that the notion of motherhood or being a mother is not an easy-pensy thing like what people do. These women and mothers in Hibari Hill told us so and they will give us, the readers their surprise in the end of the story. A light reading but I cherish it. hibari + relationship headcanons.
Tumblr media
anonymous asked: Hey! Can I have relationship hcs with Hibari from khr? Btw, who is your khr fave? OwO
why yes you can! i tried to touch on as much as i could, so hopefully these are good enough! to answer your question, i have a few favourite characters, but the ones that stick out rn are haru, hibari, and dino :^)
one word that can be used to describe a relationship with vongola decimo’s cloud guardian is unusual. hibari, after all, is an unusual man to begin with, but you knew that going into the relationship
although he’s fiercely independent and values his solitude, you understand that, and it’s likely you have this in common with him. he’s also extremely busy due to his work, often traveling to and from japan and italy; sometimes weeks might go pass without the two of you seeing one another, apart from the usual check-in
and that’s just fine, since when the two of you are together, hibari makes a point to focus his attention solely on you
shows his love through actions instead of words, because he doesn’t feel like it needs to be expressed verbally. you should know he loves you, why else would he be with you? if he wasn’t serious about this relationship, he wouldn’t waste either of your time on it
prefers to spend leisure time with just the two of you, alone. whether that’s at home, an entire restaurant he rented out for the evening, or a spot outside with a beautiful view
speaking of, one of his favourite things to do would be to take his motorbike out for a spin, with you snuggled up behind him; the destination would be one of the many secluded places he knows of, a grassy hill or cozy meadow where no intruders will disturb the peace and quiet
enjoys resting his head in your lap, dozing off then and there. he won’t outright admit it, but whenever you run a hand through his hair, you can notice the tiniest smile on his lips; he very much likes it when you do that, and won’t move for hours if you have the time
a decent cook, so he’ll often wake up in the morning and make breakfast, or prepare dinner while letting you relax. he keeps your preferences in mind, though doesn’t call attention to the fact that he knows your favourite dishes and potential allergies / exceptions
not one for public displays of attention; the most he will do is hold hands in public, and might press a kiss to your cheek or allow you to do so if one of you has to leave
why? because his private affairs are no one’s business but his, not to mention he has enemies who'd target you to get to him; your relationship isn’t a secret, but hibari doesn’t feel the need to mention it either
in fact, if you don’t know tsuna and the guardians, it’s likely that they'll have no idea that hibari’s even seeing anyone, months or even years into your relationship
doesn’t mind getting married, though he doesn’t really see it as the ‘end goal’; being your husband changes nothing in his eyes, since he’ll be just as devoted to you as before
if you want a wedding, he’ll make it happen, it just won’t be a big production. it’ll be expensive and lavish, sure, but only close family and friends will be invited; hibari would begrudgingly invite tsuna, the guardians, and a select others (mukuro isn’t invited but shows up anyway, which almost results in a brawl between him and the groom)
so yes, a relationship with hibari is unusual, but that doesn’t matter to you since it works. sure there are problems, such as him being too taciturn or you overthinking his actions, but you work through it just as all healthy couples do

Nampō Roku, Book 4 (19):  Displaying a To-shiba [鳥柴].
Tumblr media
19) A to-shiba [鳥柴] should be displayed, as it was received, on the engawa [of the shoin]².
If there is a letter or tanzaku, or something of that sort³, the way to attach these things [to the to-shiba], and the way that the knots should be tied -- there are various ways [to do these things]⁴.
[It is also possible to display the to-shiba without a base or a tray.]⁵
_________________________
◎ The final text entry in Book Four of the Nampō Roku is, like the rest of the sections that were tacked onto the end of Jōō's original memorandum, completely spurious, and designed to further the Edo period need to encourage a return to practices associated with what was perceived to be a high period of shōgunal culture in the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries.
The fact that the wealthy merchants were more likely to be concerned with the display of a to-shiba* than members of either the aristocracy or military classes, suggests that it may have been for their benefit that this entry was added to the end of Book Four. ___________ *Since it would show their peers that the recipient had certain close ties with the shōgun or other high government official or court noble.
¹Tori-shiba [鳥柴].
To-shiba [鳥柴] means a bird (tori [鳥], here abbreviated to “to”) attached to a piece of brushwood (shiba [柴])*, for presentation to someone, as a trophy of the hunt.
This curious object of display -- where one (or, by the sixteenth century, several) fowl, taken by the shōgun’s† hawkers, was presented to someone to whom he wished to show special favor‡, formally tied to a reed or branch -- appears to be taken directly out of the chronicles of Japanese chivalry.
The following block-print shows a pair of kabuki actors recreating the exchange of to-shiba in the kabuki [歌舞伎] drama Yuzuriha Kongen Soga [楪根元曾我] (the sketch was taken from the Kabuki Nendai Ki [歌舞伎年代記], a periodical that chronicled the famous plays year by year).  The reader should note carefully the condition of the branches**, as well as the way that the birds are positioned on the branches, since these were important points.
Tumblr media
The practice of tying the birds to the supporting branch is described in some detail in Section 66 of Yoshida Kenkō's [吉田兼好; c 1283 ~ 1350] Tsurezure-gusa [徒然草]†† -- and it may have been the revival of interest in this material that inspired the creation of the present entry.  A translation of this and another historical document related to the arrangement of the to-shiba will follow this post, as appendices‡‡. ___________ *Shiba [柴], “brushwood,” is the general name for the various small trees and shrubs that populate the understory of a forest.  The wood from these plants is too small to be used for anything but fuel -- and Japanese woodcutters were employed to cut the shiba and process it into firewood (since the shiba represents a significant fire risk during the dry season).
†Or other high military figure or court noble.  In the account mentioned in the Tsurezure-gusa, the donor is the kampaku [関白], the premier or senior adviser to the Emperor, while the author of the other collection of comments was a hereditary court noble and direct descendant of one of the major branches of the Fujiwara clan.
‡While his kaiki suggest that Rikyū often received birds from Hideyoshi’s hawkers (who is said to have enjoyed riding with them in the Eastern Hills almost every day), there is no indication that they were ever presented in any such manner.  Rather, their intended purpose was to be used in Rikyū’s kaiseki, and so they were likely sent to him in a state that would facilitate his preparations.
Nevertheless, the fact that Rikyū was apparently never so honored (we must remember, his kaiki relate to official gatherings that he hosted for Hideyoshi’s guests, or on behalf of Hideyoshi, thus the intended recipients of this largess were those guests, not Rikyū; the only “honorarium” of any sort mentioned in the kaiki is the gift of tea from Hideyoshi, and such gifts are only mentioned on occasions when Rikyū chose to share the tea with his guests) does not mean that Hideyoshi never sent a to-shiba to others.  Indeed, since indulging in this kind of practice was intended to paint the donor (Hideyoshi) with the same brush as the great shōgun of the past, it is very likely that HIdeyoshi employed the to-shiba as much in his propaganda efforts as the Tokugawa did later, in their own era.
**While the branches are considerably shorter than what is described in the Tsurezure-gusa, this seems to conform with the norms preferred from at least the sixteenth century onward (see the three sketches that were taken from Tanaka Senshō’s commentary, below).  The fact that the other elements of the two to-shiba conform with Yoshida Kenkō’s explanation (which he puts into the mouth of the royal huntmaster, Shimotsukeno Takekatsu), indicates that these precedents were well known, and still being observed at that time.
Shibayama Fugen says nothing at all about this entry (beyond a rudimentary explanation of a couple of the special terms that are used) -- his lack of interest is not really surprising, given that he was a cleric -- while Tanaka Senshō only writes that “when birds are tied to a to-shiba, if they are a female and a male, the male should be above; this is a rule, so it has been handed downᵃ;” after which he attached the three sketches shown below.  He does not cite any source for the sketches -- or even imply that they were taken from some other work.
The sketches, were, in fact, abstracted from a manuscriptᵇ written by Shijō Takashige [四條隆重; 1507 ~ 1539], a court noble whose house was directly descended from the northern branch of the Fujiwara family.  His writings, then, open a window onto the practices that were current during the sixteenth century that can only be grasped faintly through the sketchesᶜ (the writing on the sketches is explained immediately beneath each of them):
Tumblr media
- (from right to left) katamune on-dori [かたむね男鳥] (the male bird [is oriented] with its breast sideways [toward the branch])ᵈ; ashi to kubi to no ma ni-sun nari [足と首との間二寸也] (the distance between the legs [of the upper bird] and the neck [of the lower bird] is 2-sun); tori yori shita isshaku [鳥より下一尺] (below the [lower] bird, [the branch extends] 1-shaku [more]); moromune me-tori [もろむね女鳥] (the female bird [is oriented] with the whole of its breast [facing toward the branch])ᵉ;
Tumblr media
- hibari [雲雀] (skylark);
Tumblr media
- (from the right) isshaku ni-sun [一尺二寸] (1-shaku 2-sun)ᶠ; kaki-ba [柿葉] (persimmon leaf). ___________ ᵃTo-shiba ni tori wo musubu-toki ni, shi-yū nare ba, osu wo ue ni nado, hō no aru koto to tsutaerarete iru [鳥柴に鳥を結ぶ時に、雌雄なれば、雄を上に抔、法のある事と伝へられてゐる].
ᵇHis writings were printed in the Gunsho Ruijū (Vol. 19) [羣書類、第19輯], which was originally printed in An-ei 8 [安永八年] (1779); and it was from a facsimile edition published between 1898 and 1902 that the sketches in Tanaka Senshō's commentary derive.
ᶜNevertheless, without Shijō Takashige’s accompanying explanations, the sketches are probably more misleading than informative -- and certainly the reasoning behind what is shown cannot be apprehended except by reading ones way through the text.
ᵈSee Appendix II, Part 1, for the full explanation.
ᵉSee Appendix II, Part 2, for the full explanation.
ᶠIt is not entirely clear to what this measurement refers, at least in so far as the sketch is concerned.
††The Tsurezure-gusa enjoyed a certain degree of popularity during the early Edo period, when people (both members of the military class, and the wealthy merchants) began to consult it as an authentic introduction to traditional Japanese manners and customs.
‡‡The passage from the Tsurezure-gusa will be translated as Appendix I; and the (much longer) material from the Gunsho Ruijū, as Appendix II, Parts 1 and 2.
²To-shiba wo sono-mama o-engawa ni kazaruru-koto [鳥柴を其まゝ御縁かわに被飾事].
Sono-mama [其ま〻 = 其儘] means “as it is;” “without changing anything.”
The point is that the to-shiba should be displayed in exactly the same state that it was received, since this would intimate the donor's intentions.  Because a to-shiba was given from a superior to someone socially below him*, preserving the display in its original state was important.
O-engawa [御縁かわ]:  the engawa [縁側]† is the wood-floored “veranda” that (usually, completely) surrounds the tatami covered inner rooms (from which it is always separated by a bank of shōji).  While today the engawa is often enclosed by glazed sliding doors along its outer edge, in the past it was frequently open to the elements (or sometimes separated from the outdoors by shutters, which traditionally folded upward and were held open by metal latches that extended up to the under-structure of the roof, so the veranda could be exposed during the daytime).
According to the text of this entry, the to-shiba was supposed to be displayed on the engawa, either leaning against the balustrade‡, or perhaps resting on or against a type of stand**. __________ *Indeed, only persons of the highest rank would consider giving such a gift -- since only they commonly indulged in hawking.  Consequently, the receipt of a to-shiba, while of little actual value, was a great honor -- and one that a wealthy merchant would not only deeply cherish, but would take great pains that his associates view it as well.  This is, ultimately, the point of this entry.
†O- [御] is an honorific.  In this case, its presence has no impact on the meaning of the word engawa whatsoever.
‡This was the original way in which the to-shiba was displayed.
**I have been unable to find any clear description of this to-shiba-dai [鳥柴臺], though presumably it was similar to the stand against which a bow was leaned.  However, since the length of the branch to which the bird was tied decreased significantly between the classical period and the Edo period, perhaps the Edo period's to-shiba-dai was more like the stand for a flag pole -- a weighted base with a hole in the middle, into which the lower end of the branch was inserted.
The final sentence in the entry (which was accidentally transposed to the end of the previous section in the Enkaku-ji manuscript of the Nampō Roku) suggests that a large tray was also placed underneath, probably to catch any blood or other fluids that might drip from the dead bird.  (While originally the bird was supposed to be removed and prepared for eating shortly after the to-shiba was received, it appears that in the Edo period the to-shiba was viewed as a kind of decoration, and so left standing on the veranda for as long as possible:  the fact that to-shiba were often dispatched during the cold months of the year would have aided in preventing the bird from starting to smell for up to several weeks; and meanwhile, flesh from the same kind of bird, procured in the market, could be served in the kaiseki.)
³Arui ha fumi ・ tanzaku nado [あるひハ文短尺など].
Tanzaku [短尺] means tanzaku [短冊], the special piece of high-quality writing paper, cut to a size of 1-shaku 2-sun long by 2-sun wide*, on which a waka poem could be written in a single line of characters.
Because the to-shiba was always a gift, it was polite for it to be accompanied by a letter, or at least a poem, written by the donor.  While in the classical period the poem might be chanted by the servant who delivered the to-shiba†, by the Edo period things had to be written down.
While kaishi was the usual paper for doing so in the early days, by the Edo period it was apparently more common to write ones poem on a beautiful tanzaku (probably beforehand -- it is hard to imagine someone doing this on horseback while hunting in the mountains, since the results were going to be displayed and admired, after all), which could be dispatched together with the to-shiba.  And since, by then, it was understood that the bird affixed to a branch would be displayed (rather than consumed), there arose various systems detailing how the tanzaku was to be attached to the to-shiba, and what knots should be used when doing so‡. __________ *The reason for this precise size is explained in footnote 4, sub-note “‡,” of the post entitled Nampō Roku, Book 4 (16):  Rikyū’s Account of the Display of the Bun-dai [文臺] Beneath the Chigai-dana [違棚]. The URL for which is:
https://chanoyu-to-wa.tumblr.com/post/190330994020/namp%C5%8D-roku-book-4-16-riky%C5%ABs-account-of-the
†Japanese poems were always intended to be chanted aloud, rather than simply read (or, worst of all, read silently).  Only then do the word-plays become clear.  As a result, servants with good voices appear to have made a nice supplemental income by delivering messages for their masters (since it was customary for the recipient to give the porter a tip).
‡The important thing was that the tanzaku should hang freely (rather than touching the floor), and be attached in such a way that the poem could be seen and read easily without making it necessary for the viewers (who would have been the recipient's guests) to catch hold of it, or otherwise fiddle with the arrangement.
When a flower to which a tanzaku had been attached was displayed in the tokonoma, the same points had to be kept in mind
⁴Tsuke-yō ・ musubi-yō shina-jina kore-ari [付様・むすひやう品〻有之].
Tsuke-yō [付け様] refers to the way -- and where -- that the tanzaku* was to be attached to the to-shiba.
Musubi-yō [結び様] means the way that the cord (which was used to attach the tanzaku to the branch) should be tied.
Shina-jina kore-ari [品々有これあり] means various ways (of attaching and tying) exist.  Indeed, the different schools of etiquette all had their secret methods -- which could be learned (for a fee)†.
The tanzaku or other missive was supposed to be attached by the sender, not the recipient‡. __________ *Letters were prepared and attached differently again -- for example, folded into a long strip, which was then tied around the branch in a strategic (and sometime hidden -- depending on the contents of the letter and how public those details were intended to be) location.
†That people did not always feel that the etiquette schools were entitled to make a profit off of such nonsense...was the cause of the infamous falling out between Asano Naganori [浅野長矩; 1667 ~ 1701] and Kira Yoshinaka [吉良義央; 1641 ~ 1703].
‡Which does not mean that things were always done in that way -- particularly when the recipient was making more of a fuss about the receipt of a to-shiba than the sender had intended.  Thus the merchants often had to consult experts, so that the method of attachment was appropriate for the lord who had sent the to-shiba to them.
⁵Dai bon nado naku de mo [臺盆等なくても].
This sentence was inadvertently moved to the end of the previous entry (where it was irrelevant) when the texts were copied.  I have restored it here, based on Shibayama Fugen’s arguments.
The purpose of the dai [臺] was to hold the to-shiba upright, so it would not fall over.  The bon [盆] was placed underneath to catch any blood or other fluids that might drip from the dead bird.
On account of the length of the branch that was supposed to be used, however, the to-shiba would remain stationary, if it was placed carefully.  Furthermore, since the bird was taken by a hawk, there would be little chance of any fluids dripping from the carcass -- at least if the to-shiba were only displayed for a short time*.
That said, since the receipt of such a thing was considered a great honor (and since the Japanese usually did not eat meat), the inclination to keep the to-shiba standing outside of ones shoin for as long as possible was probably overwhelming to people of a certain social class†, hence the need for these precautions. __________ *The to-shiba was an elegant way to present someone with game taken during the hunt.  The flesh of the bird was intended for human consumption, rather than decoration.  Nevertheless, people being what they are, the inclination to keep the to-shiba standing outside of ones shoin for as long as possible (while serving the same kind of fowl -- acquired at the market -- during the kaiseki) was probably overwhelming.
The receipt of a to-shiba could well have provided the host with an excellent pretext for holding a chakai, depending on the social status of the recipient.
†The machi-shū, whose wealth meant that they were occasionally honored in this way by daimyō who owed them money, or were seeking other financial favors.

Writer’s Month 2019 Day 7 [Katekyo Hitman Reborn-Sports]
Writer’s Month Day 7
Word Prompt: Sports
Fandom: Katekyo Hitman Reborn
Pairing: Vongola 10th Gen, ensemble Namimori cast
“This is stupid, why are we still forced to this idiotic Sports Day crap?” Hayato huffed as he flicked some ash off of the end of his cigarette as he glared down at the field where some of the students were setting up for Sports day later that afternoon.
“Don’t say that in front of Hibari or he’ll bite you to death,” Takashi said cheerfully as he snagged a piece of sushi from the giant bento box his father had packed for him and the others to share.
“Tch, let him try.” Hayato huffed as he inhaled deeply before letting it trail out of his nose as he twisted and leaned against the fence that surrounded the roof.
“I’ve never done a sports day, is it fun?” Chrome asked Tsuna quietly as they ate, watching Hayato and Takashi bicker.
“It’s about teamwork, but with those in your class. It’s not as bad as Reborn’s training, but still really annoying.” Tsuna huffed thinking back to the last Sport’s day and how much of a disaster it had become thanks to Reborn.
“Oh,” Chrome looked down at her plate with a small frown and Tsuna’s eyes widened.
“This time I think it will be fun though!” Tsuna waved his chopsticks around making Chrome peer up at him.
“Right guys?” Tsuna turned to the other two for help.
“Totally! If we go all out and give it our best!” Takashi gave Chrome thumbs up while Hayato huffed and looked away making Chrome giggle at their usual reactions.
“Well, we can’t exactly give it our best…” Tsuna rubbed the back of his neck as he thought about it and just saw a destroyed school in his mind.
“What if you did though?” Reborn popped up from a tile on the floor of the roof, he was a full year older than his old baby form, but he still managed to squeeze into those tiny spaces and stalk Tsuna.
“I rather not have Hibari try and bite me to death, thank you but no.” Tsuna was still a bit sore from the last time he had been roped into sparing with his Cloud.
“I’ve already cleared it with Hibari, go all out for Sports Day or face my wrath,” Reborn said cheerfully before disappearing again.
“Well if the kid says so!” Takashi laughed cheerfully as Tsuna dropped his face against the tops of his knees while moaning. Chrome was giggling as she patted Tsuna’s fluffy hair while Hayato clenched his fists and got a glint in his eyes as ideas began to run through his mind.
~~/~~
“I still can’t believe we’re doing this,” Tsuna muttered as he stood awkwardly on his team’s side of the soccer field, shifting awkwardly in his gym clothes as family and friends of the class playing were scattered over the grassy hills overlooking the court.
“Don’t mess this up for us Dame-Tsuna.” One of the nearby students hissed while Takashi cheerfully waved up at their friends and his dad up on the hill.
“I can not believe this,” Tsuna muttered as Hayato looked like he was wallowing in desperate at being on the team opposite of Tsuna. Chrome was standing with Hana and Kyoko with the other girls on the side of the field, to watch the game and to wait their turn. She waved shyly at Tsuna and Kyoko gave him thumbs up while Hana narrowed her eyes at him. Tsuna just laughed nervously as the whistle was blown and the game started.
Tsuna will admit he was glad he had the reputation of being a Dame. No one paid him any attention, Takashi as per usual was the star for his side of the team and Hayato had broken out of his depression and instead took joy in taking Takashi on headfirst.
Tsuna was happy to spend the game just jogging up and down the field and pretending he didn’t hear his family cheering obscenely loud off to the side each time he and the others made their way past them.
So Tsuna was rather surprised when Takashi twisted his body on the field and shouted out his name and kicked the ball at him at full tilt. Tsuna watched as the others in his class stopped to watch him get hit in the face by the high speeding ball or just scream and duck to avoid it. Instead, Tsuna found himself focusing on Takashi and Hayato’s faces, each one full of easy confidence that Tsuna will make the goal.
Tsuna swore he felt his Sky flames flicker in reply to the confidence from his Rain and Storm and he set his face firmly. He tensed his legs and sprung up in the air, flipping his body until his foot came in contact with the ball and slammed it into the other team’s net before gracefully landing on the ground in a crouch knowing full well that he made the winning goal.
The silence that came from his class at the way Tsuna made that goal broke by his Guardians and his family upon the hill screaming in triumphant. Tsuna turned to the side to see the ball was still spinning and slightly smoking as it broke a few of the string of the net and the goalie sitting on his rear end and staring at the ball in amazement.
“Yes! That’s Tsuna for you!” Takashi cheered as he grabbed Tsuna in a hug, spinning him around while their team and Hayato cheered in victory. Tsuna smiled as his team surrounded him in amazement and realized maybe showing some of his skills in an everyday setting wasn’t the worst idea, not that he would ever tell Reborn that.

Hibari and her little cute colorful outfits with lots of stuffed toys as keychains and adorable pastel color make-up. Even her rifle has stickers or something like that VS her boyfriend #1 who's extremely sweet and wears everything she gifts him but never takes off his marine suit because it's part of his skin now VS her boyfriend #2 who has even better hair than her and would have a heart attack if he wore something that isn't in a fashion magazine from a famous brand

finished my 7 seeds reread, up to the very last chapter (luckily including the side stories, bless the translator lisahey! whoever you are and wherever you are)<3
(i’m so excited for the anime coming in june! hope it’ll do justice to the series!) read more cos i have a looooooot to say.
overall, wow. what a brilliant story. i cried so much (again, this is about my who knows what number reread, but this is the first time i read it all through like this in a couple of days with everything still fresh in my mind). the poetic yet miraculous weaving of fate throughout the story is always so well put together and is so beautifully done (even if it gets overused a little). her storytelling never fails to bring tears to my eyes.
i’m always awed at how she juggles so many characters’ stories and makes *every* last one intriguing, while keeping characters (mostly) marvelously three dimensional. the wide range of personality types, and how those types deal with things in their own ways, and how they grow...she nails them. the characters really become human to the reader.
i’d say a problem was hana becoming an almost exhausting, flat character at some point because of how often the story revolved around her. tamura tends to fail when she places a character on a pedestal, and it’s painfully noticeable. despite all that, i do like hana! hana and arashi’s reuniting was me sighing out for them, lol- ahhhh, finally. the scene with them in black hugging on the hill was so cute, and the pages with their expressions changing too.
i really enjoyed the parts where the characters were stuck under sado and conversed through the machinery; tamura did a very good job of making sure we know nothing is black and white when it comes to people, and arashi’s struggle when it comes to ango was obvious in displaying that. i wish we had seen ango and arashi talk a little in the side stories. it was moving to hear how arashi, natsu, and semimaru stuck up for him (my favorite and BEST trio!) while also condemning his actions to help him realize himself.
i LOVE natsu/semimaru. my babies. my cinnamon apples. my adorable awkward couple. and NATSU! i was so proud of natsu, she grows so much! what a girl<3 she was a gem of a character. the GROWTH. i also really liked haru/koruri, the way they met was so cute. ayu and aramaki matched so well too (lol at ayu telling tsunomata he was a second candidate to have kids with)
hotaru and hibari were adorable. i love hibari, lol. her and hotaru’s dynamic reminds me of me and my sister’s. tamura does the family jealousies/feelings great although she hardly touched on them :-(
maria’s ending and character were so touching. i love how tamura writes the women. all of them are amazing! kurumi, fujiko, chisa, nijiko, etc. all the women are so different and so so strong in their own ways. the giving birth chapter made me cry, oh the wonder that is a mother...
aramaki and ango’s backstory were definitely the ones that hurt my heart the MOST, i never cried so much in my life i swear. tamura was intent on making them suffer honestly...LOL...like their lives hadn’t been bad enough
i can’t say i agree with how ango was dealt with... his whole story is incredibly painful and until the end, i truly think i cried the most over his scenes because they were so heartbreaking. i honestly think it was a mistake on tamura yumi’s part to make one of his actions almost r*ping hana, it came out of nowhere imo. he was power hungry and spiralling into insanity sure, but i feel as if tamura used it as leverage to make hana the flawless, suffering heroine *unnecessarily*, and ango the outcast to the end (which i get that he deserved, understood and grew from, which was good). to me, ango’s sin of killing the innocent izayoi should have been enough without pulling hana into it to become an outcast. did the murder of an innocent soul mean nothing to tamura...
that and especially the romance drama was too much. hana’s crush on aramaki was useless.........yumi wrote aramaki’s reasons well though. haru’s crush on hana, again, useless....oran was set up with krita or whatever for what. ryo and matsuri, again unnecessary and made the characters flat. i believe ryo had the potential to bounce back on his own, he was a very strong character. matsuri was a lovely character, i love her SO much, but tamura just used her crush on ryo to expose her as a character (which is totally fine, but not when another character’s writing suffers because of it) there’s more i can’t think of just shoved in there lol- oh, ban and fujiko, gengoro and akane, chisa and akio (found em cute though). i’m glad it wasn’t expanded on because god tamura it’s not NEEDED
i think the basic problem was that tamura felt she had to use romantic love/an other as something to change a person, which is never the case imo- a person can help you change, but at the end of the day, you are the one who commits to the action of change because you allowed your belief system to change.
chimaki’s backstory came out at the end, so that tamura could make me cry one last time, damn it. tsunomata’s backstory made me cryyyyyy. i wish we saw him be able to thaw the capsule containing his kid...i guess tamura thought releasing 145 babies would be too much to add in hahahah
i love botan: a sentence of its own because i love her THAT much!
there were obviously questionable things in the course of reading, like how are their backpacks, clothes, knives etc lasting out over around 9 months but it’s fine i guess.....................
the artstyle grew on me for sure, it becomes almost charming. i love how she tones her blacks out with whites on the edges, and how she draws tears is particularly charming to me even if it doesn’t make sense hahaha. tones being blurred out to make a white pulsation is a staple in shoujos, but in 7 seeds it’s magical to me lol. she’s very skilled at using her drawings to tell a story. i super love how she draws water/people diving into water with tendrils of bubbles floating around them.
i have more to say spinning around in my head, but here’s a rough spewing of my thoughts for now~ if anyone wants to talk 7 seeds with me pleaseeee doooo haha

◆ * Just be yourself. It was garbage advice. Himself was a pissy, unlikable, overthinking fuckwad. No one wanted to hang out with himself, let alone in a one-on-one environment, and Hibari had already stated he had other things he’d rather be looking at than fireworks to boot. Which begged the question of what the fuck he was doing here, why he would agree if he wasn’t interested-- perhaps Gokudera had misjudged their favor weights, perhaps Hibari thought he was repaying something with his presence, bearing with a miserable experience because he owed Gokudera one. The last Gokudera remembered, Hibari had saved his damn life, so that theory was a hard sell.
Whatever mysteries laid buried in Hibari’s head, whatever curiosities hid behind sharp grey eyes, Gokudera couldn’t see them. His attempts to become fluent in the local language had been halted at basic vocabulary. And now it was just the two of them, alone on a hill, and all Gokudera could do was ask if Hibari knew the way to the library. Stupid. He shouldn’t have asked for what he couldn’t handle.
Tumblr media
Gokudera was currently laid out on the grass of the spot he’d scouted at the beginning of the month, overcompensating for his worries by getting overly comfortable instead, waiting while the fireworks were getting set up below. Dino had only ramped up his anxieties surrounding this in the hours prior, calling it a date when they were just hanging out, but Gokudera’s ever-active mind had curled around the word like a snake, wringing every bad implication possible from it and none of the good ones. But Hibari was here, had come all this fucking way, and the least Gokudera could do was not brood the whole fucking time.
Still laid out, chill, casual, he finally spoke up. “Thanks for coming out. I know it’s a pain, but.. it means a lot.” For all his internal griping, his mild panic, his self-hatred and doubt building up by the second waiting to erupt, the original purpose of asking Hibari out hadn’t changed. And so far, nothing had served him so well as brutal honesty. “I’m happy.” And he was. “So if there’s anything I can do to make you happy, too, just say the word. I’m all yours.”

Sew My Bleeding Heart Back
Title: Sew My Bleeding Heart Back Author: Shiro (TeitoxAkashi [AO3]/ seijuurouxryuu [Tumblr]) Rating: T Pairing: Byakuran/ Sawada Tsunayoshi Event: @khrrarepairweek Prompt: Enemies to Friends to Lovers | Secret Relationship AU Tags/Warnings: No Archive Warning Applied, Major Character Death
Day 3: Sun Day
"I'll kill you even if that means I've to go to hell and back."
"You're my- our friend. You're one of us."
"Don't worry. Whatever happens, we will be with you. I will be with you."
AO3
1. To Kill
"Decimo! One of our scouting teams has been attacked!" Tsuna looked up from the his paperwork as one of his subordinates barged into his office, sweating and panicking. Tsuna placed down his pen and stood up from his chair, forgoing his jacket as he rushed out, heading immediately to the medical wing. His subordinate followed as he asked. "Who's injured?"
"M-most of the them have minor injuries, but Gokudera-sama and Yamamoto-sama barely made it out from a bomb attack."
Tsuna scowled, lips tugged down as he gritted his teeth. "Bomb attack?" His subordinate visibly flinched at the rage dripping in his tone of voice. This man must've never saw Tsuna's anger. Or perhaps he had. Well, that wasn't his main worry. Not when they've arrived at the medical wing.
Most of the members of the medical team were patching up the scouting team, who struggled to stand and salute when they saw him. He waved them down and simply made his way into the Private Room. Shamal and Ryohei were nowhere to be seen, so they must be busy attending his Storm and Rain.
He felt another wave of anger when he was right. Gokudera was unconscious on one of the bed, patched up with an IV drip while Ryohei and Shamal was still healing Yamamoto. He could see the burnt on both of the unconscious men, the beeping sound from the monitor and how Ryohei and Shamal looked slowly relief when they were almost done were his only reassurance that they were still alive.
"Who did this?" He said lowly, only audible to the man that had followed him as he didn't want to disturb the two from their concentration. "M-Millefiore, sir."
A dark look flitted across his face. He took one last look at his guardians and turned to leave the room. "Inform Hibari and Mukuro to be on standby." He paused. "Tell Hibari this; Code White."

Byakuran could still remember the time Tsuna, the adult one, had died. A shot right into his stomach followed by one straight into the heart. He could still remember the exact words that has been said, the smell of blood, the adrenaline, the promise of death. He could still remember it vividly.
("B-Byakuran, even if you're the last person on earth, I'll never forgive you-" Tsuna coughed, clutching his sides as blood dribbled down from the corner of his lips. His eyes glowed in orange, burning in hatred. "I'll kill you even if that means I've to go to hell and back.")
He smiled wryly as he gazed at the brunette, the younger one, through the flames.
painpainpainithurtssomuch-
His eyes shone with so determination, so much ambition, so much love for his family, and so much will. That wasn't the eyes of a killer, but a savior. A savior of their world, of the Tri-Ni-Sette, of his family. Someone who would save them from Byakuran. Someone who would save Byakuran.
But who would save him from himself?
So much questions, to the teen, to himself, to fate, but Byakuran doesn't has the time.
'It seems like you've held onto your promise, Tsunayoshi-kun.' His grin stretched. "I've lost."

2. To Protect
Tsuna looked up to see Byakuran floating a few feet above the ground, he smiled. "You seemed contented." Byakuran laughed at that. "Do I? Hmm, maybe I am~" He sing-sang, swaying slightly. Tsuna chuckled and shook his head, turning back to look down at the town.
The two of them sat on top of the Namimori hill, where they'd have trekked. Byakuran had came to visit and Tsuna decided to take him to sight-seeing, since Irie wasn't around and Reborn was strangely being a saint. They had walked around the town, chatting here and there about anything until they decided to watch the town from the hill.
They sat there in silence, basking in the sound of nature, the smell of earth, the soft touches of the wind.
"It's been two years, huh." Since the future mayhem.
Byakuran nodded. "Unbelievable, honestly." Tsuna laughed, short but genuine. "You can say that again." Byakuran hummed. He rocked back slightly before he floated down until he sat beside the brunette on the ground.
"Say, why did you accept me back then?" Why did you forgive me, when all I did was give you pain?
Tsuna blinked at the sudden question, no doubt hearing the unspoken words. He gave the white haired teen a strange look. "Why shouldn't I?" Byakuran double took at that. "You are you. Sure you've your wrong doings, but that wasn't you. You're different from your alternate self."
Tsuna grinned all too brightly at him, knocking Byakuran's chest lightly. "You're my- our friend. You're one of us." You're family, and we protect family.
Byakuran's heart stuttered at that as he tilted his head down and away from the brunette. A genuine smile lighted on his face. He felt so warmsafepeacefulquiethomehomehome.
"... Grazie."
o o o o o o o o o
3. To Love
Tsuna shifted, slowly stirring. He tried to hide his face from the ray of sunlight from the gap between the curtains, smushing his face against the chest, but it didn't work. An inaudible whine rumbled at the back of his throat as he cracked an eye open. He blinked up, eyelids heavy with sleep. He couldn't, however, stop the smile from stretching on his lips.
Byakuran was still asleep, arms around him. He looked peaceful, face void of the stress and concern he had wore the day before. Although, Tsuna noted remorsefully that he still had a little hint of eyebags. He pursed his lips and buried his face against the crook of the other's neck, breathing in the smell of the ozone and a musk he could never describe it with any words other than Byakuran.
The man was slowly waking up at his movement, if the tightening of his hold indicated anything. Tsuna felt a small hum vibrating from him as he felt a chaste kiss on his forehead, and a deep intake of air. "Good morn'.." Byakuran slurred, clearly half awake. Tsuna chuckled and returned the greeting.
They basked in each others presence in silence as they gathered themselves for the day. It was going to be a long day for the both of them. Tsuna closed his eyes as he remembered the screams the both of them had thrown at each other the night before, the mindless insult, the heated words. They had made up, but it was still fresh in his mind.
He had made a mistake. A mistake that had almost killed him and his guardians. A mistake that had caused a rigged connection between on of the allies.
There will be a meeting later in the day, and Tsuna was worried because if another mistake was made, it would meant war. And that was the last thing he wanted to happen.
Byakuran kissed on top of his head again, a hand burying itself in his hair. "Don't worry. Whatever happens, we will be with you. I will be with you."
Tsuna smiled, grateful as his eyes met Byakuran's bright purple eyes, soft and filled with adoration. He leaned up and pecked him on the lips. "Thank you." Byakuran grinned and swooped in for another kiss. "Love you."
"Hmm~ Love you too!"
They stayed in bed a little longer even though it was time for breakfast, and Gokudera or Reborn might burst in anytime since they were late. They didn't care though. They stayed in each others embrace, loving every second to every heartbeat they heard from each other.
Although, who knew that they would become lovers when they were enemies the first time they've met? Certainly not them.
A/N= I've no explanation for this one.
Note that the first snippet features TYL!Tsuna from the parallel world our Tsuna got dumped into. TYL!Tsuna is a changed Tsuna so not our Tsuna. Our Tsuna is nice and lovely. :3c
Code white means Past Self Operation; On.

Moving to Japan has been dazzling. Being surrounded by new places, new people, new things -- Brett almost forgets about the reason why he had to fled Beacon Hills and relocate six thousand miles away.
While speaking is no issue as long as he takes it slow, writing in kanji is taking him too much time. Satomi was right. He should’ve never stopped practicing.
The American glances up to see if Hibari is watching. His tutor is strict -- though not unreasonably so -- and rather intimidating. He doesn’t dare pull out his phone when he is supposed to be copying phrases.
Hibari seems calm today. It must gave been a good day at Namimori. So, Brett takes the risk. His phone screen lights up under the desk. His wrists are sore from the exercise yet his thumb has no problem swiping. Opening his pet frog app, he cannot help the disappointment on his face.
“Why isn’t my frog coming home?”

hibari, xanxus and alaude being gentle with their wife please? I love your header and icon! goals!
I hope this counts as being gentle though it’s more like fluff.. >’’-Admin Lambo
Hibari
“[Name],” he called your name softly and even quieter than usually.
Slowly opening your eyes, you looked at your husband, who was looking at you with warm expression that made your stomach flutter. How much you loved him. Sitting up, you smiled when you felt his lips against yours quickly. Holding on his shirt, you didn’t want him to pull away.
“I want to show you something.” He said and straightened up, holding your hand to pull you out.
Narrowing your eyebrows, you looked at the time and frowned it wasn’t even six in the morning. “Why are you up so early?” You asked and looked back at Hibari, whose lips turned up in a small smile.
Without saying a word, he held your hand tighter as you left your bedroom and walked down the hallway. Knowing you won’t get any answers, you quietly followed your husband until you stood on top of the hill, behind your house, you eyes wide as sun slowly rose from the mountains.
“It’s beautiful,” You covered your mouth, smiling widely.
Hibari quietly watched you, fond and gentle expression on his face. Hibird flew to your shoulder and chirped before nuzzling his beak into your cheek, making you laugh. Hibari reached out for your hand and held it tightly in his. Raising it, he looked into your eyes and kissed the top of it, without looking away. His actions always spoke more and clearer than his voice and words.
Xanxus
You were rocking your hips from one side to the other, while quietly humming to the sound of music from radio. It was one of your favourite songs and you didn’t mind to turn it up, completely disregarding any weird looks you received from others. You never minded about such things.
“Playing with the Queen of Hearts~” Your voice was heard in the kitchen while baking, without realizing that a pair of red eyes were now following your every move. Xanxus stood on the doorway, every worker now gone, not daring to stay any longer, knowing his temper.
“But the joker ain’t the only fool, who’ll do anything for you~” You smiled and leaned over table, rising on your toes to put chocolate frosting over cupcakes.
A small smirk spread over Xanxus’ lips before he walked over to you and held you by waist. Letting out a yelp, you turned your head and smiled widely, seeing your husband.
“What are you doing?” He asked, eyeing the cupcakes before you.
“I wanted to surprise you.” You answered and turned back in front, continuing, but his hands made it harder to focus as his thumbs played with your shirt. “Xanxus…” you pouted, eyeing him from the corner of your eye.
“Hm?” he hummed and leaned down, pressing kisses on the back of your neck. A satisfied sigh left your lips, your eyes closing. “Why don’t we go back into our bedroom and leave the cupcakes for cooks to finish?” He asked, his kisses trailing down to your shoulders, his hands trailing up and down your arms before they held yours.
“But cupcakes…” You murmured and turned around, holding on his jacket.
“They can wait.”
Alaude
You understood completely that job and personal life should never get mixed together. But you couldn’t help yourself going to Alaude’s office every now and then to surprise him. Except that there was one small problem. The ‘surprise’ never worked.
You were sitting on your bed, your arms crossed and lips formed in a pout, which only grew when you heard doors open. You didn’t need to guess twice who it was. Alaude’s footsteps were quiet and almost unnoticeable if it weren’t for the fact that everything was dead silent.
He approached your side, leaned down, held a strand of your hair and raised his hand to his mouth, his ice blue eyes staring right at you. Your cheeks heated up and you averted your gaze, but he caught your chin and turned it back his way. Before you could say a word, he pressed his lips against yours. You never knew what he thought. He always made you flustered even if he intended it or not.
“You’re not playing fair…” You murmured against his lips and you could swear you saw the corner of his lips turning up.
“Come with me,” He spoke softly and held your hand, pulling you from bed.
“Where to?” You asked, but followed nonetheless.
He didn’t answer, which you expected, but still made you pout again. You didn’t look where he was leading you, so when warm and soft wind brushed against your uncovered skin, you raised your head and widened your eyes. You were standing on the terrace and stared at a table for two, candles beside a small vase full of roses, two glasses of wine and two empty plates. There was a soft melody played somewhere in the background, warming you in matter of seconds.
Looking at Alaude, you searched for answers with unspoken questions. He caught your look and smiled the only he way he did for you and you alone. He kissed top of your hands without breaking the gaze.
“You’re really not playing fair, you know?” You chuckled, but kissed him on the lips, knowing that this was his way of apologizing for not being with you as much as he wants to.
