can you talk about chronic illness themes in greywaren pretty please I’m so curious what you thought about the conclusion or lack therof
i've had this in my inbox for weeks and keep thinking about it and like. on the one hand i want to answer on the other hand i don't enjoy spending a lot of time talking about things i don't like. but i think i've nailed down the broad shape of my grievances wrt chronic illness real quick, so here's this and moving on
i think the first 2/3rds of greywaren were perfectly suited in tone to what dreamer trilogy had set up and there were Really good questions raised about matthew and jordan and declan and ronan and hennessy, i also think hennessy's arc (and the ronanessy culmination) was the only one that felt like it actually followed through on the chronic illness themes that had been set up. i was very very interested in jordan's thing about the act of creation keeping her awake, there's some good metaphors about artist survival there, tho ymmv. i know a lot of people with chronic fatigue aren't fond of it bc making art is Tiring and sometimes you Cannot Do It but tbh what i didn't get from jordan i got fine from hennessy so. that's all fine. then the last few chapters of the book take a hard transition into "now i have to wrap this whole universe up prettily to avoid rude tweets" and that apparently meant not having any messiness on the page, which is a shame because complex nuanced messiness is where stiefvater's writing most thrives.
adam and ronan's resolution was boring they didn't fix any of the things that were a problem wrt ronan's chronic illness and adam's Everything, joining souls in space is stupid, they already KNEW they loved each other, the love was not the PROBLEM, the problem was that they were on fundamentally incompatible life paths and loving each other DOES NOT MAKE THOSE COMPATIBLE.
declan and matthew's resolution was nonexistent, i'm actually Very Okay with the whole "matthew walks home" plotline but i needed his POV of that journey and i needed WAY more on the page from declan at the end there and i needed WAY more than "i can be fine relying on you guys bc bryde told me i should" when declan's treatment of matthew up til then had shown NO indication that matthew can EVER trust him.
bryde is the sickest person in the series and his end was far too ambiguous for my taste, especially when up to that point he and matthew had been interrogating the EXACT themes i'd wanted to see about what it means to be a dream and to be this kind of chronically ill. like we were almost somewhere there and then we just dropped everything about.... everything.
meanwhile adam is torn apart on the astral for days and days and days but wakes up fine and then bam, we flip forward 4 years and he's normal and there's no indication of any potential issues even tho there were themes traced all the way back to cdth about him and hennessy having similar chronic illnesses (thru lace metaphor). the epilogue firmly establishes that everyone is Better and that they all have stuff Figured Out Now and while i like knowing where people end up, i don't like a resolution that boils down to "and now we never need to struggle again."
i did not like greywaren's takes (or lack thereof) on chronic illness because it felt like we can't exist in a "joyful comfort read" because chronic illness is Bad and the author wants to avoid nasty tweets about doing Bad Things to characters.
i want to know what greywaren would have been if its main purpose had been to carry thru the series themes instead of to make trc fandom shut up and feel pleased about their blorbos and move on. stief talked about how she had to do a lot of rewriting with the dreamer trilogy up through greywaren bc she was so angry about being sick and. i want the angry book. i want the drafts that weren't pared down and rearranged and cut apart and spliced together to appease every normie person who's never felt constant pain or fatigue a day in their lives. the first two books were for me and will always have been for me, they are The Most Personal Books I Have Ever Consumed, but in order for greywaren to be for me, it would have had to Not be for certain people, and. well.
greywaren is for everyone.

Yes. Like that. Slutty outfit. Excuse the angst for a moment, this is Fai vibes appreciation post. I was about to say how that O-ring has no practical use but:
BDSM arc. Thank you for this Kurogane. I'm sure there's at least one fic that explores this concept. And it's not just infinity angst arc, it happens after it too:
Fai asked for private room for him and Kurogane, undressed him and licked his blood while looking like that. Talk about being subtle. That half lidded eye tells enough. Fai get a ro - oh you already did :D good :D
He always had a bit of slutty energy around him, but how did it come to this I have no idea since -

Kamui’s blood is responsible for Fai’s slutification! There’s no other - Fai signed up for slutty vampire divorce the moment he changed into a vamp!
He woke up felling sassy and divorcey; them slutty vamp vibes be doing him good. For mental health purposes I’m not including “good morning Kurogane” panel. Seeing it once in lifetime is enough.
Fai lying with sus face and slutty black turtleneck; and Kamui’s genes. Fai makes such obvious lying face that mostly consists of either half-lidded eyes + flat smile combo or plastic grin + closed eyes combo (like in that cursed panel).
So basically this one panel set Fai’s slutification in motion:
Y’all just know it wouldn’t have been the same if he was given Subaru’s blood instead. Fai would half angst and half serve wet sad sad kitten looks; with Kamui’s blood he half angst and half serves slutty stubborn kitten looks. Infinity arc wouldn’t be nowhere near BDSM as it was. Because:
Yes Syaoran, there’s something not normal about him. It’s the succubus slutty vamp vibes. Also it’s the same slutty black turtleneck Fai has later on; clear as day whose vibes he picked up along genes.
But Kamui went a step further and:

Canon facts that he’s the slutfier:
1) that one pic with Fai. It’s one of sluttiest official arts of Fai and Kamui contributed to it at least 80%; rest of 20% are Fai’s natural ho genes.
2) This twincest vibes:
Sluttiest pic of trc!Subaru we have (maybe even tb/x!Subaru?) and it’s with Kamui. Plus them earrings. Coincidence - maybe but? It’s all Kamui’s vibes and he’s rubbing of on his not nearly innocent as he seems but still naive brother.
3) No thoughts, just whatever they have going on:
Fuuma’s expression seems so tender here... and horny. He’s only like this around Kamui so? Also on unrelated note, how did Kamui feed for 3 years in acid Tokyo? Did he bite random people or maybe slashed enemies during fights or maybe - alright, sin stops here. Moving on.
So yea... it’s all in Kamui’s genes, no wonder Fai became a whore along with vampire :D I want main crew to meet with twins in TRC and have Fai thank Kamui for passing on his sassy genes :D Kurogane both suffered and benefited from those genes so he’d probably be conflicted about entire thing

Ever thought redesigning galatea and maybe the trix?
Also would villains like darkrar, the trix or valtor be in trc?
I don't feel any kind of need to redesign characters from the first three seasons
The Trix are so damn iconic, I don't think I could improve them
I wouldn't redesign Galatea per say, because again I think she looks fantastic, but designing her an Enchantix wouldn't be off the table
Timeline wise, she will be in TRC.
Season 3, Galatea in her first year - Season 4, the summer between school years - TRC Season 1, Galatea in her second year
And Galatea deserves a lovely Enchantix dress, we stan Galatea

The Trix won't be in the main 3 seasons of TRC. They are, after all, the Winx's villains. In the hypothetical 4th Season, where the Winx and the Dragonflies unite, then the Trix would make a glorious return.
Darkar, kinda????
Well not Darkar himself, but it's implied that the Shadow Phoenix lives on in Shadowhaunt. You can destroy the host, but the power exists so long as the Dragon Flame exists
So Darkar is gone gone, but someone will become the new host for the Shadow Phoenix
And Valtor? No. He's gone, and I think bringing him back just ruins his reputation and legacy. Looking at YOU, Season 8
And I think giving the Dragonflies the same villains as the Winx is a little lazy lol

*holds up shield* don’t throw things at me but i have actually developed nuanced opinions on AI over the past couple of months. imagine that. but this isn’t a post about those nuanced opinions! i can get into them later
this is a post where i reluctantly went to chatgpt to perform An Experiment, because if there’s one thing i love it’s writing-related data and making fun of bad writing guilt-free. and now that i’m not ideologically opposed with every atom of my body to AI i can do that!
i chose to give ai one of my older fics (from 2022), both because it was short enough for the text box and because, given all the scraping drama, ai probably already has it anyway. i was very tempted to put in something original, but i haven’t yet.
then i asked it, first, to write something mimicking that style, to….horrible results. i also asked it to write a sequel to the fic, because i had written a sequel myself. i got….interesting results from that. i have some thoughts on how ai writes, what it could be used for, and what it should almost definitely not be used for.
let’s get into it!
so, to start off, i used my raven cycle fic hostage situation. it’s not my best, being both old and written in like an hour for whumptober, but it’s not the worst.
when i asked chatgpt to mimic the style, i expected it to create something similar (this was a kidnapping with torture h/c fic, so something like that) and to do its very best to write something that sounded like a thing i would write. you know, like the ai art that puts in specific artists’ names to get something like their style.
i did not get that. maybe i would have if i had given it a more specific prompt, like, write a story about X in the style of this story, but i didn’t and i don’t really want to go back to chatgpt again, so just…shh. this was still a useful exercise, i promise!
let’s start by looking at the openings of each piece.
first of all, it chose to change the names and some more specific details, but literally nothing else. also love how it switches from ronnie (ronan?) to theo (gansey) almost immediately and there is cassie (noah) and cassie (adam).
also they made my gay fic hetero. alright.
also, this introduces a theme that we see throughout this endeavor. the ai has little to no idea what trc is or who the characters are (actually it has no idea what anything is, i shouldn’t anthropomorphize, but it doesnt have enough data to pick up on patterns like it might with, say, MCU fic). therefore, it ruins one of my favorite things about writing fic, especially for trc, and that is making dozens of subtle references that probably most other fans would even miss.
for example, right here we have references to ronan’s never-ending battle with his phone, his father’s death, and, if you squint, that One Line that goes “jesus,” gansey said, “christ.” which i have heard talked about a few times and lives in my head rent free. i’m sure no one else thinks about it that much, but it’s a very specific inflection and i love it.
the one (1) thing i will say is that “theo’s breath catches” is totally something i would write, and the ai didn’t copy it from this fic. i mean, it’s still pretty generic, but it kinda feels house style-y to me. hm.
continuing on! let’s see what the video is
so basically it stripped out all the fun description. incredibly rude, this was my favorite part to write. again, i’m wondering if there’s something significant about changing “guy who had to be rescued” to a girl.
there’s also a lot of confusion on like, what’s happening and why on the ai’s side. it’s copying my words, but cutting a lot, so there’s no reason for, say, the villain commenting in her mental faculties—she didn’t seem disoriented before, and she hasn’t done anything now to prompt the remark. also, we “see” cassie and then the newspaper gets pulled away to “reveal” her. it’s very messy. we also don’t get cassie telling theo not to come for her, something that is pretty important in adam’s case, mr. self-sacrifice, lover of ronan.
what happens when boyfriend comes to the rescue?
sorry i’m laughing because theo is still gansey in my head and him having like, full tattoo sleeves is Sending Me.
once again, cutting out the good description and making it all generic. this part makes sense, at least, but it’s less interesting. the best parts are the dialogue and THE DIALOGUE IS MINE. verbatim.
the line “time blurs since the video, her only link to theo gone” is grammatically incorrect or at the very least clunky. idk why that got changed.
changed the lastname-firstname switch that is so very important to pynch. kay.
obviously theo isnt ronan and this technically isnt fanfic so we lose the kavinsky/matthew reference, even though that adds depth to the scene when you remember that almost exactly this thing has happened to ronan with someone he loves before, so this has to be very fraught for him.
let’s finish up with the ending!
so this part doesn’t make any sense in the EXTREMELY limited context of the ai’s story. at the very beginning, it said that one of the three has the ability to manipulate illusions (which in itself is a bit odd—shouldn’t it be create illusions? or can you only manipulate illusions that are already there? that’s not very useful), but that doesn’t have anything to do with violence. is the implication that our dear friends [checks notes] ronnie and cassie2 did this??
the implication in the original fic is that ronan used dream creatures or something similar; it’s his subconscious, not technically his own work depending on how you look at it. i don’t believe ronan would commit violence like this where adam could see (hence why he wanted adam not to look) because of adam’s history of abuse, but ronan also has a lot of anger and a lot of monsters in his head and a lot of love for adam. so.
because this is fanfic, i don’t have to spell any of that out. it just is. but in the ai’s story it doesn’t know why or how that part exists, it just copies it.
and then basic ending where the ai says the quiet/implied part out loud. boring.
it should also be noted that chatgpt generated stories only clock in at around 600 words. the three screenshots here are almost all of that generation, while my fic is almost twice as long.
so my main takeaway here, aside from “chatgpt is bad at my favorite part of fanfic” as i said, is that chatgpt can’t really effectively mimic a writing style that isn’t generic or very close to it, because of the whole “most likely word” thing. and if your style is very generic than other human people already write a lot like you and/or could mimic you very easily.
i don’t have an outside perspective on what makes my fics recognizably mine (tell me?), but i’ve had a lot of people comment on the way i describe emotions. which is cool, because i love doing that. i like implying things with body language (especially focusing on where someone is/isn’t looking) even more than directly describing what people are feeling. the ai’s style is very much about stating directly what characters feel, often to the point of redundancy, a huge pet peeve of mine.
so yeah, not uber useful for fanfic writing. tumblr photo limits prevent me from continuing with the second experiment (writing a sequel to this fic), but i’ll be back in a hot second to write that one.

So what is the nature of Boudicca? What role does that organization play in the Dreamer Trilogy?
(Spoilers, ahoy)
The first time Boudicca is mentioned, was at the Fairy Market, when the art dealer asked Declan to register for the purpose of the Dark Lady portrait. Declan is unfamiliar with the organization, but senses the art dealer's fear, and almost backs out of the purchase until Ronan gives his name and zip code. (CDTH chpt 19)
When Ronan texts Gansey, he learns (from Henry Cheng) that Boudicca is an "All ladies group for the protection and organization of women in business. They're pretty powerful." (CDTH chpt 24).
The next bit of information about Boudicca comes when Declan and Jordan are on their way to a meeting with his birth mother, Mór Ó Corra, who is evidently a member of that organization. Turns out Jordan (or Hennessey) was courted by them. She realized Boudicca offered protection and business opportunities but at a price. Later, the New Fenian, who came in place of Declan's mother, warns them off from Boudicca, stating "it's a box you get into, and you don't get out of." He also warns Declan, "And you don't want them finding out about Ronan. . . They'll use him till you don't recognize him." (CDTH chpt 64)
So they use dreamers.
Moving on to MI, Jordan is invited to a Boudicca party. At the party, which is a gathering of the glitterati, Jordan learns about Sweetmetals for the first time. Sweetmetals are pieces of art that have the power to wake a sleeping dream. It seems that Boudicca is selling them. They demonstrate this by creating a tableau of sleeping dreamed child and several dreamed animals who awaken in the presence of a sweetmetal.
So first, I want to call attention to the utter callousness of this. As we know, dreamed humans are sentient, and to waken this little boy in the midst of so many unfamiliar strangers could have been terrifying for him.
Then, we get to the most chilling piece of information of all. The presenter at the party says this, "Some have asked if these dependents are available. Not at this time. They are for demonstration." (MI chpt 4).
Dependents are dreams. Dreams without their dreamers. Notice the presenter stresses they are not available at this time. Boudicca traffics dreams.
So I am left with a few questions.
First, were the the "demure young men and women being displayed as wares" (CDTH chpt 18) that Carmen observed at the Fairy Market dreams? I suppose they could have been ordinary garden variety human slaves, but one wonders. It was an illegal magical market, and Boudicca had a presence there.
Second, how did Boudicca know to send Jordan that message at the moment she was escaping with Declan and Mathew back to the Barns. She herself calls it "coincidental" (quotation marks are Jordan's). Note that the invitation included a plus one. Were they hoping Jordan would invite Declan? The New Fenian, who was affiliated with (and probably owned by) Boudicca through Mór Ó Corra, knew that Jordan was with Declan. I've observed before that Mór Ó Corra was probably having the Lynch family watched. Mór doesn't appear to want the Lynch Brothers harmed. But she is not the whole organization, and others could have discovered Jordan's relationship with Declan. (MI chpt 4 and CDTH chpt 64)
Third, what were Seondeok's (Henry Cheng's mother's) dealings with Boudicca? I'm inclined to think she wasn't a member. She is powerful in her own right. She was also one of only three collectors Niall dealt with in the end. I've speculated before that Niall had a bad history with Boudicca, and he might have limited his business dealings to those who weren't affiliated. (TRK chpt 28)
Fourth, could Ashley in TRC, have been an operative of Boudicca sent to keep an eye on Declan. She seemed unusually observant, and Gansey himself observed that Declan was being played. Initially, I thought it had to do with trying to get information about Glendower, but now I wonder. (RB chpt 7)
Fifth, do the Moderators have any connection to Boudicca? They are presented as a government special ops group, but what government? Their operatives are dreams. But why would dreams kill dreamers. To create dependents? Which Boudicca can awaken through magical means? That would allow Boudicca business in both trafficking dreams, and the sale of sweetmetals to keep them powered. Boudicca would have the resources to fund such a group. (MI chpt 37)
Sixth, why didn't Niall tell Declan about Boudicca? The information seems pertinent.
Finally, what part will they play in the final act, because I know it will be big. I guess we'll just have to wait for that.
I want to end with a final comment. Blue tells Ronan, via Gansey, that the original Boudicca was a Celtic warrior woman who fought the Romans. Could Boudicca be an allegory for all that is wild and fey, while the Romans represent human civilization, just as Ronan represents all that is wild and magical, while Declan represents human art and human civilization. The author has said there is an underlying mythology of Fairy in this series, but how does it intersect with humanity?
Anyhow, happy speculating.

What if. I always liked the 'what if' thoughts. So while brainstorming with my fandom-buddy, suddenly there was 'what if Cabeswater, but make it evil'. And I just ran with it! Not much of a big concept, just a tiny idea that a writer can do marvelous stuff with.

Why did you join this project? What are you looking forward to creating?
I was intrigued by the art piece as soon as I saw it, there's so much story already held in it with Ronan lying helpless against the tree and Adam's hand reaching out for him. When I read the concept, I immediately got even more excited-- an evil version of Cabeswater! It's such a believable thing-- the Cabeswater we know is already so eerie at points-- and it's been a blast figuring out how a less benevolent Cabeswater would come about and manifest. Besides, I'm a sucker for hurt/comfort and horror, so this is the perfect storm.

What drove you to joining this team?
I like a bit of angst, and I love love love the idea of an Evil Cabeswater—both of those things made my eyes light up when this was offered as an option! I was drawn to the prospect of something creepy and eerie that could ultimately mess with the two people so deeply connected to it. The team has been absolutely incredible, and I have been so pleasantly surprised by both the writing and the artwork to come out of this idea and I can't wait for everyone to feel the excellently unsettling tension these two have pulled off!

There were two realities existing simultaneously in Adam's head. There was the here and now: twisted branches outlined blackly against the desolate sky, roots snaking over one another, rot blooming from the creases between them, shapes shifting in the shadows; and there was the there and now: Ronan lying on the ground, his face twisted in some awful, unreadable terror or agony or anger or sorrow. The two images folded in on one another, branches cutting across Ronan's face, Ronan’s eyes becoming leaves becoming eyes again, until he couldn't tell what was in front of him and what was not. Adam stumbled, his vision swimming. Around him, Cabeswater hissed in his deaf ear, its voice-- its myriad of voices-- more dry and rough and terrible than he had ever heard before.
It said: Greywaren indignus ex nobis.
It said: Sumus mori. Quod semita moriens.
It said: Meus es tu. Ergo audieritis vocem meam.
Adam bared his teeth and fought forward, even as Cabeswater tangled its branches and curled vines about his ankles and pressed leaves against his skull, forcing themselves against his ears like they wanted to burrow inside his skull and weave through the creases of his mind.
It said: Subsisto, Magus. Ego manus tua furantur. Ego oculi tua furantur.
I will take your hands. I will take your eyes.
An image flashed through Adam’s head, so vivid and awful that he doubled over. It was his body-- No, it was Noah, crumpled on the ground, and then him again-- and his eyes were endless pits of nothing, his fingers scrabbled at them until they bled. When he came back to himself, he was pitched against a tree, cheek rammed against it until the bark bit into his skin. He had the oddest sensation that if he stayed there, the tree would grow around him, enclosing him there-- entombing him and suffocating him until he truly belonged to the forest.

most dumbass, reaching theory (which is really saying something knowing my prolificity and love for dumbass, reaching theories) but trying to think up some ideas for that sweetmetal in TRC: Ronan’s leather wristbands??
Here me out, and I know this works only if Ronan is a dream, but I keep going back to how much Ronan looks like Niall and how pronounced it is, and was wondering if there’s some object that’s always on his person. the wristbands originally were Niall’s and it’s something he doesn’t remember how he got or why he started to wear it (cdth). Of course there’s the little thing that it should keep Ronan awake, BUT 1) there is no mention of those bands in Mister Impossible?? Did he remove it? Lose it? 2) neither did bryde’s sweetmetal keep him awake so maybe ronan is just in a different kind of sleep than the other non-dreamer dreams? 3) it’s super depleted like the other sweetmetals
its not exactly a piece of art but there are other types of sweetmetsls. I think it’s more likely to be the mask or something of Aurora’s but my most off-brand theories came true in mi so maybe we just need to throw spaghetti at the wall

On weekends, we talk kink - TRC edition
Since @purrsnicket is a terrible enabler and our DMs are a work of art, I think the world deserves to know what came out of it today...
Hot take:
Adam is notoriously terrible and reluctant at taking pictures of himself, but he's not fundamentally against letting Ronan abuse his newfound ability to use a phone for video purposes. So they share a little collection of dirty recordings of them having sex -- not many, but very inspired, and of great aid to both of them when they're apart and feeling lonely.
HOTTER take:
Due to some bluetooth-cloud-devicesharing fumble, the Crying Club ends up with one of the videos. And it's not as if they planned to watch it -- or to wilfully invade Adam's businesses -- but at first they just thought they simply found some porn. Which is amazing, because it would be good to know that Adam Parrish is human enough to watch porn and save his favourites, right???
But once they start watching it's clear that Adam IS the porn, filmed from above from the torso to the head. [More detailed filth under the cut]
He's laying on his back on a bed, the video rocking slightly with movement, and it's an Adam no one in the Club has ever seen -- not even considered. He's there all messy, flushed and sweaty, definitely not composed in the way sometimes he tosses and arches as someone out of the frame is kind of obviously riding him and rocking on his dick.
It must be Ronan, clearly, not only because they met him but also because sometimes his hand pressed down on Adam's chest and the leather bands on his wrist are as unmistakable as the bulk of his forearm.
This Adam is a smirking, heated creature, and there is something a bit mean but in a kind of intimate teasing way in the way he talks to Ronan through the camera. Whatever Adam's doing when his arms seem to move and reach around away from the frame, it gets some startlingly loud moans from Ronan -- closer to the microphone, and unrecognisable in his lust. The only moment they do get to see what he's doing is when Ronan seems to choke on his breath and lowers the framing of the video -- an excellent shot of Adam's fingers wrapped tightly around Ronan's hard cock, stroking at the same pace as the twitching of Ronan's hips as he fucks himself onto Adam.
At some point, Adam just groans deep, the sound wavering as he pushes himself up and against Ronan.
Whatever happens next, they don't get to see it -- Ronan dropped the phone and the frame is just a distant ceiling.
They get to hear it, though, which is almost worst.
There is the rocking of the bed, more distant moans that get broken down by some kissing -- clearly deep, clearly wet. There are suffused intimate murmurs, inciting and provoking. Ronan gets loud enough that is once again as if he's right in the room with them. It goes on for impossibly long and the video only cuts off after an abrupt movement -- as if someone flipped around again and the skin pressing on the screen cut the recording.
They all end up staring at the smartphone screen for way too long, afterwards.

ok either this is going to be the stupidest theory i’ve ever posed or my third eye is wide open and I can’t check my copies right now to see if it tracks but! about the trc sweetmetal.... what if it’s the bmw? maggie said we saw its influence in trc and the only dream that we know behaved out of the ordinary is aurora who took a few days to fall asleep after her dreamer died. so then the logical conclusion would be that the sweetmetal not only existed before the trc timeline, but that also it had to exist close to aurora, so most likely at the barns. we also know that a few days after his father’s death ronan stole the bmw, which i’m pretty sure is the only possession he has that comes directly from there and considering they weren’t allowed back, it never would’ve gotten the chance to revive aurora. and ofc just the fact that it belonged to his dead father is enough to make it precious to him, but maybe ronan’s attachment to it subconsciously goes a little further than that. so ronan steals the bmw that’s keeping aurora awake, she falls asleep, they’re not allowed back so she stays asleep
of course then there’s the question of whether sweetmetals can be dreamt, which we don’t have an answer to yet but i wouldn’t be surprised if it was possible considering the parallels that are constantly made between dreaming and making art. maybe niall was particularly proud of perfectly dreaming his car (in the same way ronan was abt the camaro???) that it mirrored the sweetmetal in art process.
and then there’s also the name sweetMETAL and the bmw is a big metal car but that might be a bit too on the nose.
idk the longer i think about it the longer it makes sense (unless i completely misremembered the sequence of events leading up to aurora’s sleep ofc. i would not rule out this possibility) but. i’m thinking thoughts

Maybe i am dumb for not understanding…. Did ronan dream the tattoo on his back? I thought he didnt. Amd also maybe the tattoo is in the end a sweetmetal that wasn’t strong enough or something.
i think the details on ronan's tattoo were intentionally kept vague. we were told that he paid for it, implying he did not do it himself, but then we were also told that it appears to change over time. i think there are three options here
1. he just got it from a regular old tattoo artist, no magic involved besides the ~magic of art~, and it just appears to change over time because it's so big and detailed that there's always something new to discover
2. the whole "he paid 900 dollars for it" (i can't remember if that's the actual number but whatever) thing was a lie and he just dreamt it. he said he got it at an actual shop because (a) his friends didn't know he was a dreamer at that point and (b) it would piss declan off more
3. it's both. he got it done at a shop but sometimes dreams new details for it
i don't know which option is the correct one, but i think i'm maybe more inclined to believe there's something dream-related about it, just because the way that other characters describe it is a little similar to the way characters in the new trilogy describe dreamt objects (the whole "brain breaking" thing)
i think whatever the sweetmetal in trc was has to be something related to aurora, though. in my last post about this, i speculated that it could be cabeswater, but that was because, at the time, i was thinking that we don't know for sure that dreams normally fall asleep right after their dreamers die. since then, though, i realized that prokopenko fell asleep immediately after kavinsky died, so i do think that there had to be a sweetmetal somewhere in the barns to keep aurora awake for a whole day after niall died. ronan didn't get the tattoo until way later, so

But my thoughts are so full of Adam rn bc of the growth this boy has gone through and how he’s finally finally allowing himself to be known and he’s powerful and that makes him realize his worth and my heart is just so full of Adam Adam Adam Adam and how I know he’s going to do everything in his power to save gansey in the next book and I’m scared
