(un)loving miya atsumu
one.
the beginning of everything
then...
The place was new, that much was clear.
The buildings, houses were comparably bigger than the ones you’re used to.
And it was a lot less cold, since you weren't in Miyagi anymore.
It had been a long drive to Hyougo.
"Nee-san," you poked at your older sister's shoulder, she lazily stirred. On your other side was your younger brother, who dozed off as well. And then there was you, awake. For 12 hours. Not a wink of sleep. For some reason, you couldn't sleep during trips. Your uncle had said maybe because you were an anxious traveler, your mom would like to think that your mind was too active and liked to take things in.
You didn't know.
Hey, you were only 9.
A long way from home and into your new home in Kobe, Hyogo.
The whole trip - process, included, had been a blur. You could make out holding your sister and brother’s hands, hugging your crying kind neighbors and playmates, but feeling like a robot throughout the process.
And now, with your feet planted on the ground, (e/c) eyes just taking everything in - it was a lot to take in.
As was the house, the house you visited a few times – maybe once or twice. It was bigger, much bigger than your old one – wider, a two-story building, but enough to house four more guests.
On the way, you caught your uncle and mother’s conversation about how the suburb they’re living in is one of the best in Hyogo, boasting a view of the Sakuras which the youngins (you included) will definitely enjoy in time for spring, and was close to the station and the few minutes’ drive away from his work, where she’ll be joining soon.
You stand in front of your new home, examining the streets, noting the abundance of trees – sakuras, especially, like your uncle said. Leaning to your side, lifting your one leg away, you found a park just five blocks away, your brother would surely love that.
Planting your feet back, you gaze back into your house. Taking a deep breath, as though to have a feel of the area, a voice suddenly called out.
"Hey, who're you?"
Blinking, you turned.
"Oi, don't be rude, Atsumu." another voice says next to him.
You blink again.
Twins.
Twin boys.
They looked to be about your age, standing a few feet away from your home, peering curiously at your uncle's truck, the boxes, and you.
"But hey, who're you?" one of them asks.
"Are you new here?" says the other.
Their accents were rather thick even for their age, rising with every syllable and somewhat airy compared to the standard Tohoku dialect you were used to.
"Yes." You reply simply.
Before another word was said, your uncle appears from behind you, a gentle hand on your head. "Well, if it isn't my favorite Miya boys - Atsumu and Osamu!"
"Uncle!" the twins says in unison, rather energetically.
Laughing, he wrapped an arm around you as he stood next to you. “What’re you boys up to, eh? Trouble?”
“No way!” says one, pitch rising. His twin beside him murmurs, “Maybe.”
“Oi, Osamu, way to keep a secret.”
Amused by the twins, you let out a chortle then a smile. It lasted for a quick second, but the two caught on it.
"Aha, so you can smile!" one of the twins pointed at you, his stubby finger just inches from your face.
"Atsumu, don't point!" his twin slaps his finger away. "s'rude, and ya might poke her eyes out!"
Beside you, your uncle chuckles at the two, seemingly used to their antics.
You just stare at the twins - at their identical features down to the littlest details. And then it came to you.
"You're Atsumu," you looked at the boy to your left, who jumped at your voice. "And you're Osamu." you say to the boy to your right, who blinks twice at you. "Right?"
The twins blinked at you, eyes wide like saucers, then looked at each other in silence, then to you. It was almost comical how the twins reacted to something like this, and just how in sync they were.
Beside you, your uncle throws his head back and lets out a guffaw. "That's my (Y/N)! Such a smart cookie!"
Feeling his large hand ruffle your head, you ducked your tiny head and smiled a little, feeling warm and proud all at once.
"How did you know!?" Atsumu yelled, demanded, stepping in front of you.
"Atsumu," Osamu said in warning, pulling him back harshly. "sorry 'bout this one."
You smile at Osamu in understanding, already liking his calm demeanor as opposed to his twins.
You shook your head at the two, leaning against your uncle as you continued to stare the twins down. Man, they sure were full of energy and perfectly balance each other out. Without even knowing, the corners of your lips quirk into a smile.
Tumblr media
now...
A blur of blue, yellow, and red slowly lands on the ground, just inches away from the line, as players desperately try to save it. But it was for not. The ball lands with a smack.
The referee raises a flag, an in.
The whistle blows.
And then the stadium bursts with joy.
Inarizaki has won the first set.
“Hey, manager-?!”
“Service ace is in favor of Atsumu.” Just as he threw his fist in the air to celebrate, you added. “More than half were fails, by the way." At that, the teen flinches. "You got way too excited for the rest.” The team snickers, Osamu gloating in the background.
“The fact that she actually kept score is amazing.” Ginjima said in awe.
“Nothing escapes her, what a reliable manager!” Kosaku praises with a smile.
"There's nothing noteworthy about that," Kita adds, arms folded over his chest, the two players quickly silenced and felt a shiver run down their spine. "but if it helps boost morale and keep the peace, then it's fine."
“Kita-san and Manager are always in sync, that's just creepy,” Suna thought aloud as he took a sip.
Someone’s hand lands on your head as you check your notes one last time, it was the captain’s. “Well, when you have a reliable manager, all is well!”
Thinning a smile, you nod at everyone. “Come on now, we should head to the other court.”
Although he was not a regular player, Kita was there beside you to act as an assistant manager. He’d also be there to give tips and give the team a much needed scolding that their lax captain couldn’t give. It was both coaches and the vice-captain’s idea. It also helped that you were there, too. Ever the hard-working, illustrious and known for the moniker – ‘Inarizaki’s Fox Keeper’.
Just as you turn, you felt arms wrapped around your shoulder. “Let’s win this shit!”
“’Tsumu, get off (Y/N), you’re tainting her with your stupidity,” says Osamu, appearing beside you.
“Ha!? Shut up, ya scrub!”
“Why don’t you say that to my face!”
“I am in your face, you asshole!”
The twins’ yelling sounded off, their noise adding to the excitement of the tournament. Practically all eyes were on you, because of the twins.
Used to this, you decide to speak your mind. “Guys, I am in between this childish tomfoolery.”  To which the twins flinch at, comically look at you in unison.
“Oi, that’s foul play, (Y/N)-chan.” Atsumu says, pulling you close.
“Yeah, you know we’re both too stupid to understand complex words.” Osamu seconds, pinching at strands of your hair.
“Yeah- HUH!? WHO’RE YA CALLIN’ STUPID?”
Reaching the other side of the court, you were stuck between the twins as they fought for the nth time as the rest of the team watches.
And then there was you, a faint smile on your lips.
You wouldn’t have it any other way.
Tumblr media
Wriggling out of your uncle’s arms, you announced that you were heading inside, barely sparing the twins another look.
Suddenly, out came your sister from the car, rubbing at her eyes as she walks towards you. "(Y/N)!!!!! Why didn't you tell me we were here already?"
“You looked like you needed the extra sleep,” you told her, taking your still sleeping brother from her arms. “Seriously, he sleeps like a log.” You comment on your baby brother, tucking his head on your shoulder.
Looking behind you, your sister asks, “Who’s uncle talking to?”
“The neighbors.”
She perks at that, ever the social butterfly that she was. “Oh! Let’s go say ‘hi’ then!”
“You do that, I’ll get inside, get Kaoru into a bed or something, then help mom out.”
Pouting, your big sister grabs the back of your shirt. “Geh, come on!!!! You’re no fun, (Y/N)!”
“Oya, Mika-chan, you’re awake! Come, come, say hi!”
Smiling at your uncle’s words, your big sister practically skips to his side, grinning toothily as she introduces herself. “Hi! I’m (L/N) Mika!”
“Nice ‘ta meetcha!” Atsumu grins back, swiping the underside of his nose. “The name’s Atsumu.”
“Osamu,” his twin says with a small smile.
As one, the twins look behind your sister, meeting your gaze, almost expectantly. Not long after, so does your big sister.
With a sigh, you hoist your little brother in your arms, walking towards them. “(Y/N),” you mutter. Your big sister bumps her hips to yours, you cry in pain softly. “Hi, I’m (Y/N).” She bumps again, with a slight frown on her face, you paid no mind. “And this sleeping lump is Kaoru.”
“Ain’t this adorable, the youngins catching up!” your uncle exclaims, happily.
Mika grins widely at the two boys, who grin back at the you all in turn.
From that moment on, you knew these twins would be a part of your lives, yours, especially, for better or for worst.

Perfectly Flawed - Lydia Martin
word count: 2317 warnings: swearing requested! (but I changed it around a lil bit)
Tumblr media
“I was thinking it’d be a” I said, looking over my homework sheet.  Lydia glanced down at my paper and grinned.
“Yep” She said, popping the ‘p’.  I grinned as I circled that answer and went on to the next one.
It was Tuesday, and Tuesdays’ were the days Lydia and I got together at her place to do homework, paint our nails, and gossip.  Well, gossip sounds bad it was really just talking.  This had been a tradition we’ve successfully held every Tuesday for the past three months, and we were both pretty proud of that.
Lydia and I became friends last year when we were juniors.  Being Scott’s twin sister I was sort of a part of the pack, a designated human you might say.  Stiles would’ve high fived me for that.  But I knew all about werewolves and banshees and kitsunes and coyotes, to be honest we were like the misfit toys.  But I guess we owned it.
I always sorta had a crush on Lydia, I mean, who didn’t? She was absolutely perfect in every way.  She was a genius, she was funny, talented, kind, beautiful… the list went on and on.
But, with this perfection of hers, she had anyone to choose from.  Anyone she could date if she wanted.  And I, was definitely not on her list of crushes like she oh so ruled over mine.  In fact, she was my only crush.
Not me though, Lydia Martin could never like a girl like me.  No, I wasn’t as smart as she was, I wasn’t as petite as she was, I wasn’t as funny as she was.  I simply wasn’t as perfect, or anywhere near as perfect, as Lydia Martin.
“So, what color polish do you want tonight?” She asked, standing up from her spot at the table.  “I think I’m gonna get red for myself”
“Let’s go black” I said.  She shook her head with a small laugh and walked off towards the stairs.
“Same old y/n” She sighed, making me laugh as she disappeared.
Same old, plain, untalented, y/n, I thought to myself.
When she came back, she was smiling wide at me and plopped her box of manicure supplies down on the table in front of me.  Bottles of paint, polish remover, and lotions sticking out of it.  As well as nail clippers, filers, cotton balls, and tools that looked like torture devices.  Lydia seemed to have seen my look of fear cause she giggled that beautiful little laugh.
“No worries y/n, just the paint as always” She promised, shaking my bottle of noir polish.
“Thanks” I said sheepishly and she nodded, opening it up and grabbing my hand.
“So uh… the dance next week” My heart nearly fell out of my chest.  But somehow I managed to keep myself calm as she began to paint my nails.  I just looked at her, silently prompting her to continue whatever it was she wanted to say about it.  “Maybe we could go shopping for it together? Or not- we don’t have to-”
“No that sounds like fun!” I said quickly, and Lydia smiled nervously, I think.  I probably freaked her out.  “M-maybe Wednesday after school or something?”  big smile pulled on Lydia’s lips as she nodded.
“Yeah-yeah “ Lydia said, focusing back on my black nails.
(lydia’s pov)
I walked into school this morning, excited as today was the day y/n and I had decided to go dress shopping.  I was thrilled, absolutely thrilled.  I could just sing as I walked through the halls.
“Lydia Martin, are you skipping?” I was asked when I arrived at Scott’s locker, where we meet every morning before classes.
“Yes Scott, I may be a little happy for once” Stiles walked up to us.
“Is there a sale at Macy’s?” He asked with a snicker.  I rolled my eyes.
“I’m more than shopping and shoes, Stilinski” I told him.
“Alright then, what else do you have to be happy about?” He asked.
“Mom out of town?” Scott asked.
“Cheap makeup?”
“Quality makeup?”
“Hot date for the dance?”
“Prada had a new puppy friend?”
“Aced another test?”
“Any colleges accept-”
“Hey guys!” Scott and Stiles were cut from their ramblings as y/n bounced up to the group.  “What’re we talking about?”
“I was actually just saying that you and I were going dress shopping tonight” I said, and her face lit up.
“Yeah! I’m super excited for that” y/n said, grinning wide.  God I loved when she did that, her eyes always seemed to twinkle.
“You guys wanna ride there? You know I got a sweet one” Stiles said, wiggling his eyebrows at us.
“You got a new car?” y/n asked, raising a confused brow.
“No I’m talking about Roscoe duh- hey!” I giggled as y/n smirked a little to herself.  “I don’t get why you guys are so mean to me” Stiles began muttering.  “I mean seriously all I do is help and-”
“Hey y/n!” I turned to the girl whose name had been called, to see Erica Reyes standing there.
“H-hi- hi Erica” y/n replied, tucking her hair behind her ear.
“Can I.. can I talk to you for a sec?” The blonde asked.  y/n nodded, giving a small ‘mhm’ and followed off with her.  As soon as they were gone, I scoffed.
“Really? Erica Reyes? What could they possibly have to talk about?” I asked, crossing my arms.  I saw Scott tilt his head, listening to their conversation.  I glared down the blonde, just as Kira bounced up to us.
“Hey guys!” She said cheerfully.  “What’re we up to?”
“Hush” Stiles scolded.  “Scott’s listening in on Lydia’s girlfriend over there” Stiles said.  I glared at him, but Kira giggled.
“Oh I see, get jealous of Erica did you?” Kia winked at me.  She winked, she had the nerve-
“No I am not jealous, and y/n is not my girlfriend” I stated firmly, my arms uncrossing and putting my hands on my hips.
“How defensive..” Stiles muttered.  “So what’re they talking about over there? Anything we should be worried about?”
“See, you don’t like her either.  Do you have a big fat crush on y/n?” I asked with a sneer towards Stiles.  “See? Who care-”
“She asked y/n to the dance” Scott said.
“SHE DID WHAT?”
y/n and I were walking through Macy’s, going through rack after rack of hangers.  She’d been talking animatedly about how excited she was to be going to the dance with somebody.  I was listening, I was, but I barely responded.  Just let her go off as we looked over various dresses.
“Hey, hey Lydia” She called, and I looked up.  She was two racks away, and holding up a gorgeous y/f/c dress.  I thought about her wearing it and my knees almost buckled.  “What about this one? I have the perfect shoes and everything” Her eyes lit up with excitement and I nodded with a hum.
“Yeah y/n it’s… it’s beautiful” She smiled big and hung it carefully over her arm.
I went back to scraping through the racks, but didn’t really pay attention to anything I skimmed over.  All I could think about was the fact that y/n was going to the dance… with someone else…
Jealous? Never heard of her.
The ride to drop y/n back off home was again, mostly filled with her going on about the dance.  Although this time I was barely listening.  I couldn’t, it hurt too much.  THis was my best friend, this was the girl I was in love with, and she was hooked on being with someone else.  Maybe Stiles was right, maybe all of them were right… but she’s too perfect.  It was ridiculous for me to think of being with her.  Besides, I used to be such a bitch, such a bitch, why would she ever want to date me? I looked over at her in the passenger seat next to me as she talked on.
“...I mean I’ve just never been asked out before…” She went on.
She was beautiful, so fucking beautiful it was insane she even hung around us.
“Sure, I bet this is nothing to you you get asked out all the time- I mean look at you- but… but me! I just can’t believe someone would want to ask me out!” I slammed on the breaks, just outside of her house.  “L-Lyd!? Are you okay?” I looked over, seeing her grip onto the handle of the door.
“Am I okay? No I am not okay!” Her eyes widened as I yelled a little.  “y/n how could you say something like that? ANyone would be lucky to go out with you! You’re absolutely perfect!” She blinked.
“Lydia I’m sorry I didn’t mean to-”
“No- no get out just- just get out” I shook my head, looking down at my hands gripping the steering wheel.
“Lydia I-”
“y/n, go home” She stared at me for a moment, but I heard her unbuckle her seatbelt and open the door.
“I’m sorry Lydia” y/n said softly, then closed the door, and walked up to her door.
Now, I hate crying, it makes you weak and ruins your makeup.  But today I almost couldn’t drive home because I was crying to hard.
Who knew being in love hurt this much.
(your pov)
I didn’t think being in love hurt this much.
I was standing in the corner of the gym, the whole room lit up and blasting with music.  Bodies were.. Well everywhere.  Dancing, talking, sweating.  The more I thought about it, the more claustrophobic I felt.  I looked around, seeing my friends all together.  Stiles trying to get Scott to dance with him, Kira teaching Malia how to dance, Liam… doing god knows what.
And there was Lydia.
She looked breathtaking… the green dress she wore hugged her curves in all the right places.  The neckline dove down enough for me to blush.  But she wasn’t really dancing with the others, just awkwardly swaying back and forth.  I frowned, and wanted nothing more than to go over there and dance with her, maybe make her happy.  But she’d made it pretty clear that she wanted nothing to do with me.
“Hey y/n I’m back” Erica walked up to me, handing me a plastic cup of punch.  “And uh.. I smell checked the bowl.  It’s not spiked” She laughed, and I chuckled quietly and nervously.
“Thanks” I said quietly, taking a drink and casting a glance towards Lydia.  Erica stepped over closer, following my line of sight.
“O-oh… Lydia… I’m sorry are you guys..?”
“Dating?” She nodded, and I shook my head.  “No… no she wants nothing to do with me” Erica frowned.
“Pretty sure she wants everything to do with you” I raised my brow in silent question.  “I mean, when I asked you to the dance, she sorta had Scott listen in, and seemed pretty upset when you said yes” My brows raised, and I looked at her quickly.
“R-really? She did? Was she mad? Sad? Disappointed?” Erica laughed quietly, wrapping an arm around herself and rubbing her arm.
“You uhm… you really like her don’t you?” I gave her a guilty look, feeling bad that I couldn’t really help my feelings towards the strawberry blonde.  “No no, it’s okay” Erica said, giving me a small smile.  I returned it.  “Well, go on, go get your girl” I grinned, and turned, walking myself straight over to Lydia.  When her eyes caught mine, she smiled for a moment, but it quickly fell.
“y-y/n” Her voice was quiet, I’d never heard it so unsure before.  It was like she lcked all of her confidence.  “Shouldn’t you be with Erica?”
“No” I shook my head.  “No I don’t want to be here with Erica, I want to be here with you” I said.  Her eyes widened.
“Really? Y-you do?” Lydia asked, almost like she didn’t believe it.  But I nodded my head, trying desperately to keep up my confidence before it all went away.  “You… you like me?” My brows furrowed.
“What’s that supposed to mean? I’ve had a crush on you for as long as I could remember” Lydia shook her head exasperatedly and groaned.  My heart sank slightly.  “Look I know it’s pathetic and you’re you and I’m only me but seriously I mean it-”
“God would you just stop talking” Lydia groaned.  I opened my mouth to protest, but she grabbed my chin in her hand and yanked my lips against her.
I swear the world slowed down and my heart exploded.
She was so warm, and her lips were so soft, and she tasted like.. Like cherries.. And root beer.  Maybe a mix of chapstick and lip gloss I don’t know but it was heaven.
“Not fair.  I liked you first” She said when we pulled away.
“You definitely didn’t-”
“Yes.  I.  Did” She said firmly, pulling away slightly.
“Did not” I grumbled, and pulled her back in for another kiss.
“You sorta suck-”
“Lyds shut your mouth” She giggled, wrapping her arms around my neck while mine went around her waist.
“All our friends are staring at us” SHe whispered, and I laughed a little.  “Welp, Kira just started clapp- Stiles took a picture” I laughed more and kissed her nose quickly.
“Yeah well it took you long enough to show an interest” Lydia rolled her eyes.
“Seriously, in our moment, you’re gonna hold that against me?” I nodded with a grin.
“Wouldn’t want you thinking I’m an easy catch” I said with a wink, walking towards the beverage table.  “Gotta make it interesting, right?” I winked over my shoulder and she groaned, following after me.  But I heard her muttering.
“God you’re lucky I love you”
to the anon who requested, i hope you liked it!

First meeting.
Infernia: EEEHHHHEHEHEHEHEHE IM SO EXCITED! OVER THE WEEK BREAK MOM FINALLY LET ME TAKE THE CALIBUR TRIALS! If you want to know what it is listen in and i will tell you.
In the mansion besides Castle Blackstone the Darkos family is relaxing. Drake is playing cards with Scarlet, a female wolf with shoulder length hair done up in a ponytail and two small quills, a swirling galaxy left eye and burning Amber right eye. Shes wearing a short sleeve hoodie with jeans and a half skirt in a pair of sneakers. Shes looking up at her twin from her cards who has a solid poker face holding his cards in front of his eyes. She goes back to looking at her hand as Sky walks by with a arm full of groceries.
"Ok kids me and Aura are gonna be running the shop today. Theirs food in the fridge, Bane is out with Sodina enjoying the first real vacation in forever so try not to bother them. And what am i forgetting?" Sky says tapping your chin.
"Mom can i-" Infernia starts.
"No. Thats what it was. Im sorry Infernia but you know i want you to focus on your studies before your physical abilities." Sky says.
"But MOM, dad and Aunt Aura took the test at 15. Im here now two years older and still dont have a calibur weapon. Come on its just not fair." Inferna whines.
"Sweetie do you know what it means to have a Calibur weapon? Have you ever wondered who you would get to be bound to you for the rest of your immortal souls existence?" Sky asks her youngest daughter.
"Yes mom i know. To be bound to a calibur is a union more permanent than any other. You will have a friend through all your lives from the time you bond till the end of time. Every reincarnation will receive a gift of your memories from each incarnation. Sometimes it drives the users wild in some lives and causes them to rampage in a melded form till they are put down." Infernia says pouting.
"You still want to form a bond with a Calibur?" Sky asks
"Yes. I want to be able to know that i am not alone in my next life. That even if my life is one of torment that i will always have another with me to pull me from my dark life." Infernia says with pleading eyes. Sky sighs and pets her daughters head.
"Fine but if you fail this trial you will never ask me for this again, am i understood?" Skay asks. Infernia smiles and hugs her mother tight.
"Oooohhhh thank you thank you thank you! I promise mom." Infernia says. Sky sighs smiling and kissing her daughters head.
"Alright Scarlet, Drake, put down the cards. You two need to take your sister to her trial while the sun is still up." Sky says. Drake smirks and puts his cards down face first before standing and turning to his mother and baby sister.
"Done deal. I was getting tired of playing Scarlet for her money anyway." Drake says.
"Oh my god your hand was complete trash! How are you able to keep up a poker face with a hand like this!" Scarlet exclaims throwing his cards face up. A king a two a four a eight and an ace are his hand. Her own hand slighty scattered was two aces and three fives.
"Years of practice my dear twin." Drake says.
"Ugh that smug look says it all. Fine lets take the squirt to the cave. I need some fresh air and sometime to relax." Scarlet says as she gets up. Drake follows suit as Infernia kisses her mothers cheek.
"We'll be back before night fall. Love you!" Infernia says as she follows her siblings out the front door. Sky smiles softly than frowns as she rubs her cheeks.
"You should have told her the other trait of bonding with a Calibur." A feminine buzzing voice says.
"I know swarm. That as you bond with it it absorbs a part of your soul to conect back to you with each new incarnation." Sky says rubbing her chest over her heart.
"As i have done with your love for your family in every rebirth." Swarm says.
"I know! I know. Look its time i headed back in before Aura starts hula dancing." Sky says as she heads out the door locking up behind her.
Scarlet and Infernia are giggling as they leave pink and red streaks while they run through the forest. A rift appears right in front of a large tree as the girls both touch it. Drake pops through the rift and digs his fingers into the tree to hold himself up. Than he climbs down quickly grumbling as he does.
"Aster please tell me thats interference from the trials and not that you just thought it would be funny to turn me into a cat." Drake says as the rift closes. A few seconds of silence and he sighs grinding his teeth.
"Oh is he having a chat with Aster now?" Infernia asks. Scarlet nods and pulls out her bow from under her skirt.
"One of the things about a Calibur is that the user can always have a chat with the weapon in private. The only ones able to have a conversation with any other is Bane's Hyleia as the first Calibur, and Sraya who now belongs to Sodina." Scarlet says Keilisa glows in Scarlets hand.
"Yes yes Keilisa. Alright Infernia its time for you to take your test." Scarlet says leading Infernia behind the tree to a dugout hill leading down. Infernia shivers and squeezes her arms in self assurance.
"Its ok Infernia youve practiced on Aunt Aura's demo trial. You know whats waiting for you down there. You got this." Scarlet says to give her reassurance on top of her self assurance. Infernia nods and breathes out slowly.
"Wish me luck guys." Infernia says.
"You dont need luck sister. You got skill, youll get yourself a lifetime partner and we'll be waiting here to see her." Drake says. Infernia smiles a little as she starts going down the stairs that were carved into the dugout. The last step collapses into a slide. Infernia gives a small shriek as she falls down tumbling head first.
A few seconds later she calms her nerves and curls up into a ball and spindashes the rest of the way down to a landing. Infernia uncurls and stands up patting herself down. She looks around at the dark cavern she ended up in. Slowly she starts forward into the cave system keeping her senses about her. Within a minute of walking whispers begin passing her ears.
"Tell us your fears. Tell us your dreams. Tell us your story. Tell us why." Are most of what she hears as she moves forward. Suddenly the cave lights up and shes in a desolate city, building have been toppled, bodies line the streets and the world seems to be on fire. Over head a dragon flies by and perches on several buildings its body weight causing the building to crumble with ease.
"No dad stopped this. He stopped you from changing." She whispers to herself a flash of her father pushing her out of the fat foxes hands and skewering him seconds before a giant maw snaps shut around them. The dragon glares at Infernia and growls. It climbs down from the perch made of rubble and starts heading towards her. She backs up as it picks up pace slolwy while it moves towards her. She starts full on sprinting when it is charging at her.
Five minutes of the chase and a building collapses infront of her blocking her. She stops in her tracks and dives into an alley as the dragon crashes through it in front of her. She pants as she tries to catch her breath. She gets up trying to tip toe away from the dragon while it searches through the rubble. A small whimper to her right stops her. Infernia looks over and sees a small hedgehog cowering in the corner behind a half crushed dumpster. Infernia moves behind the dumpster with her and she clamps onto her arm.
"Its ok shhhh. Dont cry little one. It can't get back here." Infernia whispers to the crying girl. They both hear the dragon sniffing at the entrance to the alley and its claw digging into the walls trying to dig them out. The girl starts to cry as Infernia looks back at the dragon than at her. Biting her lip Infernia picks up the girl and stares at the only way in or out of the alley which the dragon has blocked. It growls at them as it claws the walls away faster. The childs head is buried in Infernia shoulder shivering as Infernia herself stands on nervous limbs. Taking slow deep breaths Infernia moves forward towards the claws. She watches as the clawing becomes more frantic as she does.
Infernia runs at the claws as the little girl screams in terror. She jumps through a gap in the claws and continues towards the dragon. It swipes at her again and she sidesteps the attack continuing forward. The tail comes from above and makes to stab her, she jumps back quickly and ducks down as a claw follows. She runs again and jumps on falling rubble. Using it as steps up to the dragons head she mentally marks the spot for her attack. She side jumps from another tail strike and plants her feet firmly on the dragons pad in its calw as it swips up at her. She sprints down its arm before it can close its claw on them and jumps off its elbow. The dragon opens its maw as she jumps and makes to swallow them both whole. Infernia clutches the child tighter and before they fall into its maw she grabs a tooth and flings herself up out of its maw and at its nose. She forces its maw closed with an axe kick to the bridge of its nose hard enough to create a shock of wind. Before her foot can leave the grip of the dragons skin she shifts her momentum from forward, to down.
The dragons eye glares at her, red swirling down into a sky blue. Infernia smiles sweetly as she uses her free hand to throw a punch with all her weight and momentum into its center between its eyes. The sound of cracking can be heard as the dragon rears its head back its eyes going blank as it falls over. Infernia lands sliding back from the falling dragon. She breaths a sigh of relief as she flexes her hand.
"You really do have a hard head big brother. Sorry i had to crack it for now but you should heal soon enough." Infernia says. She pats his snout and the girl pats her cheeks. She turns to look and the girl is like her except a wolf. With a smile the girl and the entire scene fades.
Infernia finds herself in a slightly well lit cavern. Behind her are traps that look to have done similar to the dragons attacks. She sighs in relief as she continues forward into the cavern. The deeper she goes the more omonious light fills the space of the cavern.
Without warning the cavern turns into the city she has known for her entire life. But its different from the city she knows. Turning around to look she notices the Castle Blackstone in the center of the city. Along with that the city seems too...calm compared to its normal subtle edge state of mind.
Infernia sees the wolf girl look alike running with some other little kids. She stops and waves Infernia to follow them. Seeing as how the little girl is the only thing from the last vision she sees she decides to follow her. The kids run through alleys and backstreets heading towards the castle. The closer they get the bigger the houses get with familiar crests inside she could see through windows. Once they reach the castle the little wolf tugs on Infernia skirt some to get her attention. Looking down the girl points at the gate and the guards stationed at it.
"You guys want to see the inside of the castle?" She asks, to which all the kids nod. She smiles as she heads towards the castle gate that the girl pointed out. The guards put up their spears in a x formation blocking the passage.
"Oh come now gentlemen. Surely you can let me and a couple of kids in." She says.
"Sorry but our orders are to keep all interruptions out while the council of houses is in service." A guard says.
"On who's command?" She asks.
"By the order of the high alpha my lady." The guard replies.
"Im just gonna give the kids a tour nothing to bother them in the conference room." Infernia says.
"We're sorry ma'am but orders are orders." The guard says keeping firm.
"Alright than. You now have two options. Let me through or I blow the doors of their hinges. Your call." Infernia says. The guards stand firm.
"Alright but remember you are the ones who took this path." Infernia says stepping back and tackling a guard in the stomach. She activates her alpha mark at the last second and on impact an explosion sends the guard through the door. She grins and grabs his shield and ushers the kids behind her as guards come to see the commotion. They see the passed out guard and the other trying to hold back Infernia. Soon they move in to join him in holding her back and she backs up some as she prepares another explosion.
"To your left." The little girl whispers. Infernia turns and blocks an incoming strike and pushes back sending the guard back into the others. She grabs the little girl in her arm and charges forward igniting again and causing another explosion sending a collection of guards flying away. The kids keeping close to her follow as she creates a path to the castle. The little girl is watching around them giving Infernia warnings of attackers behind, ahead, left, and right. She doesnt think twice about each direction as she blocks and pushes them back and uses explosions to send some guards flying. The closer to the castle they get the more guards keep blocking them. The last line of defense being a sheild wall around them.
"Overhead." The little girl says giving Infernia an idea. She pulls all the kids onto her back as she charges up another explosion. But instead of charging forward she slams the sheild down and focuses the blast underneath. With the recoil from the explosion she and all the kids rocket up and over the shield wall and on the front door of the castle gates. With a grin Infernia kicks open the door and shes back in the cavern. But its alight with rainbow colors flowing up from a mountain of material in the center of the current large cavern. She looks at her arm and notices the battered warrior shield is still there. Loosening her grip the shield activates a function and collapses into a half shield with a short sword like extension on her forearm.
"Congratulations young Hedgehog. You've made it to the inner sanctum and collected a Calibur. But let me ask you young miss, why?" A voice like the little wolf girls asks. Infernia looks around and looks at the stone before her and than down at her forearm.
"My name is Infernia Luna Darkos, please don't call me young miss or young Hedgehog. And I have more than one reason for coming to partner with you." Infernia says bringing up the shield that is now in pristine condition.
"Hehe. Smart one you are. My name is Gradia and I still need your answer." The shield says as a pink orb flies up from the center to circle her.
"Well im sure you know that I was looking for a partner so not to be alone in my lives. Selfish but considering the wolrd we live in, its normal for someone who has lost alot to want that. But i also want to be able to protect my family, present and future. I don't want to be a bother to them on hunts, like when i let a target get away because Drake had to free me from some speed trap. I dont want to always be protected by them like with dad and that fat fox. I want to fight with them as equals, not handicapped thanks to their specialties." Infernia says. The orb continues to circle her as she speaks and flies through her a few times.
"Would you be willing to let me bond to your familial piety Infernia?" Gradia asks.
"If you are willing to accept me from now till the end of time. I will give you the piece you require." Infernia says. The orb lets out a snort.
"You dont have to be so formal about it. Ah than it is a deal my master Infernia. I Gradia do swear to serve you in this life and every life after." Gradia says after a small fit of giggles. With that the light slams into Infernia chest.
Infernia: Hehe gradia and i have been training for the past couple of days learning about eachother. We know that we still arent ready for a mission, we cant even preform a soul meld yet so we'll keep practicing. But i feel like we could take on an army or two ourselves. How about you Gradia?" I ask the shield on my forearm.
Gradia: I think we could do a few more than two thats for sure. After all we have been making explosive results. Who knows what the future holds for us.

This Crappy Life: Episode Six
"Thomas, dude, you're here." Derek's relief was obvious as he fist bumped Thomas. He must've been lying earlier and wasn't sure Thomas would be here. "Is Mitch inside?"
"Yeah, but keep it down. He's passed out in back. Said he was feeling under the weather." Thomas ran a hand over his light brown crew cut as his eyes slid from Derek to me. "Dude, you're rude as hell, aren't you gonna introduce me to this vixen?"
Derek's blue eyes flicked to mine. I could see the apprehension all over him. Under the weather. We'd both heard the same thing. Mitch had an illness, and from all we'd seen tonight, it could be assumed Mitch was sick with the same thing as everyone else.
"Damn dude. Staring at the beautiful woman isn't an introduction," Without grabbing a jacket or shoes, Thomas jogged down the four steps and walked toward me, holding out his hand. "I'm real sorry about my best friend. He's known for being moronic from time to time. I'm Thomas—" Shock filled his eyes. "Holy shit! What happened to your face?"
I closed my eyes and let out a sigh. I'd forgotten about my face, but I could only imagine how bad it looked. I needed to clean it up as soon as possible. "Um... it's a long story, but I'm Casey."
His hand remained outstretched. I don't know why, but I didn't take it.
"It's okay. I don't have cooties." Thomas shrugged and smiled, revealing a perfect white smile. I bet his girlfriend was sitting inside waiting to get back to whatever it was they were doing, because the idea of this guy ever being single was just, well, irrational.
"No. It's not you." I frowned. "Do you have a bathroom? Or a first aid kit?"
Thomas let his hand fall as his smile melted. "Tough crowd tonight. What am I missing?"
"I'm just... I've had a long night." My gaze fell to the dirt. What could I say? I didn't want to tell Thomas everything. He was a stranger. I glanced to Derek for help. Compassion filled his blue eyes. I really just wanted to get cleaned up and get a move on. Mom's life was in limbo. This guy was Derek's friend. It was his job to be the bearer of bad news.
"What did he do?" The sharp note in Thomas's voice was laced with concern and anger.
My focus darted to Thomas. What was he talking about? What did who do? When I didn't answer, he started toward Derek.
With his voice low and filled with insinuation, Thomas asked, "Did you hurt her?"
"What?" Derek's forehead wrinkled as he took in his friend's anger.
Thomas seemed to grow another two inches as his muscles turned to stone. "You heard me ass wipe! What the hell did you do to her face?"
Before I could speak up, Thomas was in front of Derek clenching his collar, nearly lifting him off the ground. Thomas had about four inches on Derek, but Derek was thicker. This got ugly fast. Thomas was frigging crazy town.
"What the hell, man? I didn't do anything. Just calm down." Derek's voice remained steady.
"It wasn't Derek. He had nothing to do with this. Leave him alone!" I yelled.
Thomas glanced at me, and his eyebrows relaxed. He slowly released Derek's shirt. "Alright, someone better tell me what's going on real fast because I've lost my patience with this mess."
I wanted to ask how he defined patience, but I held my tongue.
"Derek will tell you everything. Can I use your bathroom, please?" I glanced toward the door. "Oh, and if you have bandages that would be... helpful."
Thomas wiped his hands against his sweats and waved us in. "Yeah, come on."
Derek waited for me to pass by him and grabbed my elbow. "You want me to help?"
I leaned into him. I thought about Derek cleaning my face and applying bandages. For some reason, I knew he'd be gentle and do his best not to hurt me. I wanted his help. My stomach fluttered at the image of Derek being alone with me in a bathroom.
God, Casey! Get your frigging head out of the clouds. No wonder Suzie was so attracted to Grant. The seductive allure of the brothers was uncanny. "Thanks, but our parents need medicine, Derek. Just see if Thomas will help us out, and I'll take care of myself, okay?"
His fingers tightened around my arm as he dipped his lips next to my ear. "I'm sorry about Thomas."
Those four words caused tingles to rush over my entire body. How did he do that? I had to get away from him. Thinking was impossible when he was so close and whispering in my ear like this. What was it he said? Oh, yeah. He was sorry for his hotheaded friend. I nodded in acceptance of his apology and went inside.
Derek followed me and shut the door.
Thomas's trailer was brand new inside. It was cozy and impressively clean. I didn't see a girl sitting on the nice leather couches furnishing the living room. He must've been in here alone. But why? A guy like Thomas would be fighting women off with a stick.
The massive flat screen mounted on the wall was paused on some zombie game. Was that Left for Dead 2? It instantly reminded me of Suzie. We used to play it together all the time. Back when she wasn't so distant.
"In here," Thomas said from down the hall.
I followed his voice and found him in a spotless bathroom totally themed out in blackjacks. The jack and ace of spades must hold significance to someone here. The shower curtain, rugs, toilet seat cover, and towels were all covered in blackjacks. Even the toothbrush holder was bowing down to the blackjack God.
"Here." He handed me a small box with a first aid symbol.
"Thanks." I opened the box to see its contents. Everything I could possibly need was here.
Thomas's smoky brown eyes assessed the damage of my cheek. He knelt down, opening a drawer filled with perfectly folded washcloths and hand towels. He set one of each on the polished marble counter. "Need anything else?"
"No. That's perfect. Thank you." I hadn't looked in the mirror yet. I was a little afraid to see what I looked like.
"I'm in the other room if you need me." Thomas gave me a small grin as he shut the door.
I let out a long breath. Here goes nothing. I gave my reflection a once over and hissed.
What is it about wounds? They can be there for hours, and you barely realize they exist, but as soon as someone says anything or you give them any attention the pain spikes instantly. My face was on fire now that I was staring at it.
The old woman definitely left ring marks on me. My cheek would take a while to heal. The few scuffs and scratches would heal up fast. I was more worried about the twin gashes that sliced so deep the scabs were nearly black. They were both at least an inch and a half long. The skin was hanging off the opening of the lower cut, but the smeared blood made it look a whole lot worse than it actually was.
Other than that, my fair complexion was flushed, and my long hair was frizzed out from the ride over. I was a mess.
First things first. I washed my hands thoroughly and dried them while I let the hot water run hotter. Using the washcloth dowsed in hot water, I scrubbed the wound. What if that old woman had the sickness on her rings or hands?
A whoosh of nausea from the steaming water threw me off balance as fear forced me to scrub even harder. I succeeded in removing all the dried blood and the scabs. Now it was just a gross open wound with blood working its way back in.
A slight bruise was forming under my eye where I'd been elbowed. I studied the deep injuries, searching for any red puffy skin, but nope, I just looked... beat up.
It took everything in me not to scream when I used the alcohol pads. I made sure to use a bunch to kill all the germs. Applying the first aid cream soothed the sting before I pressed three bandages over the gashes. The rest would dry and scab over quick. I went about making myself presentable.
Just as I was finishing my ponytail, I heard a yell.
Running out of the bathroom, I searched for the voices.
"Call 911!" Thomas yelled from the opposite side of the trailer.
The words were a punch to my stomach. How many times would I have to hear that tonight?
Whispers, mumbles, and grunts filled the silence.
I frantically searched for the guys until I discovered where the sounds were coming from.
I slowed my approach as I heard Thomas yell. "I don't give a shit! He needs a hospital. Grab his goddamn legs!"
When I rounded the corner, a sickening stench hit me in the face. It was worse than Mom's smell earlier in her room. The waiting room in the hospital came to mind.
Thomas seemed to breathe in relief when he saw me. "Casey, thank God. Tell him. Tell Derek that Mitch is okay and we need to get him to the hospital."
I glanced down to Mitch, an old man with light brown hair. Guessing from his facial structure and body type, Mitch could be Thomas's dad or grandfather. Dark bruises marred his wrinkled skin, but it wasn't swollen. He was most definitely pale and shiny with oily sweat. Blood leaked out of his ears and eyes.
My body started trembling uncontrollably. Mitch was... Mitch was...
I'm not sure when it happened, but Derek's arms were suddenly wrapped around me, pulling me against them. "Shhh. Shhh."
Why was he shushing me?
"It's all gonna be alright. Just calm down." Derek breathed in my ear. "You're okay. Everything's gonna be okay."
That's when I realized I was crying. How could I be so selfish? Mitch was dead or nearly dead, and Thomas was most likely losing all sanity while I cried like a baby in Derek's arms.
Derek ran a hand over my hair as I clutched him, pressing my forehead to his chest. The comfort of his arms holding me close helped me find my brain. I could finally think straight again.
"We have to go." His soft lips grazed my ear.
I gulped and nodded, clearing my throat. "I... I know. I'm sorry. Let's go."
When I pulled away, Thomas was staring at us, his face slack. He was in shock. "So it's true? Everything Derek said is true?"
I reached up to my bandages to make sure they were still attached correctly. "Yeah. It's all true."
"But how? Why?" His discouraged gaze fell to the floor.
Wiping the tears off my cheeks, I walked over to Thomas. "I don't know why. Maybe we'll find out, maybe we won't, but I know that if we do nothing when we could've done something, we'll all regret it."
"He's still breathing. He looks dead, but he's still alive." Thomas glanced over to Mitch, then back to me. "I know where they keep all the antibiotics in the warehouse. We can still help him and y'alls families."
My heart did cartwheels. Maybe. Just maybe. We could stop our loved ones from getting any worse.
"We have to go now." Derek's voice was low, controlled. "If we wait any longer it could be too late."
Thomas snapped into action. "Let's do this, Stanley. In and out. I'll get dressed and grab my gun."
Wait. What? And who was Stanley? Last name. It had to be Derek's last name.
"No one said anything about guns." I looked between them. "No one is going to get hurt, right?"
"Do you want to tell her or do you want me to?" Thomas strode past me with chilling confidence.
Derek ushered me out of the room. "We won't use it if we don't have to. And trust me when I say, I don't want to, but..."
"But you will if you have to," I finished his sentence.
Absorbed in regret and sadness, Derek nodded. "When it comes to the people I love. I'll always do what I have to do to keep them alive. Like your dad. It's just how I am."
I squeezed my eyes closed. "Let's hope it doesn't come to that."
