belated wip wednesday:

gn!bountyhunter!reader x din djarin

5 + 1 relationship montage but the touchstones are din Opening Up and Being Vulnerable in his heavily armoured, mute protagonist kinda way. this is a snippet of part 2

Stay safe, he says.

You're pinned down by blaster fire, taking cover behind an overturned merchant cart. Keeping the kid sheltered in your arms is making it hard to help Din pick off the troopers closing in.

It was supposed to be a simple supply run. With the Empire breathing down your necks, it was too risky to park the Crest anywhere for any length of time so you'd split up to cover more ground in the bustling marketplace.

The explosion that shook the ground while you browsed for extra power packs was the first sign of trouble. The cold chill that ran down your back as you fought against the fleeing crowd to find the source of the fighting... well, that was the second.

Din lunges behind a crate just in time - a thermal detonator explodes where he's been a second earlier, spraying sparks and bits of rubble down over his head. He looks around frantically as the dust settles, his gaze darting around the empty market, until he finds your hiding spot across the street from him. It's not far, but trying to cross the dangerously open space between you would be suicide. Not even a stormtrooper could miss the shot.

A wave from Din catches your attention. Once he sees you're looking his way, his hands move quickly, signing his words. Take the kid and go. Start the Crest.

It's a move you've pulled before and it's as simple as it is strategic. Din has the beskar so he covers the retreat. He trusts you to get the kid out of danger and prepare the ship for a fast takeoff.

You trust him to always follow.

Love you kid, he signs at the child in your arms, who fights your hold and tries to reach out to Din with a whine.

Then Din’s visor tilts up, ever so slightly, but you feel the weight of his eyes meet yours. His hands falter. ...Stay safe.

And then he's gone.

Lazarus Pits are toxic (read practically acidic) to most realms beings. The keyword being most. There are in fact two beings that are immune.

The first is those with shadow cores, as their cores are quite literally designed to adapt and mirror the aspects of their surroundings alongside anything that may harm them. And those types of ghosts are already rare, most destabilizing when younger because they think they can adapt to something they can’t handle yet.

The second thing? Halfas. The Pits heal those close to death but who cling to life, and Halfas? Constantly inbetween life and death, no matter what form they take. So something that would normally burn both the living and dead? Does practically nothing to them. In fact? It heals them.

So a shadow-cored Halfa searching through the zone for a safe spot for his clone-kids to heal? Well, there’s never been a safer place.

I just had a weird dream where there was a popular video game series set in a post-apocalypse world, about a group of girls who have been transformed into some kind of nightmarish cyborg abominations that looked like someone crossed an antropomorphized motorcycle with a xenomorph. and they killed people for fun.

anyways with the new release the company responsible for the games was like "we listened to the public outcry about the lack of positive femininity, and made some changes to better represent women! listening and learning! <3"

the game was the exact same as the one before. the only change was that they turned the nightmarish scooter-abominations bright pink.

#if i could draw i would draw them bc i see it so clearly #they had these sleek futuristic-looking segway-ish wheels for legs #and heads that looked like a cross between a motorcycle helmet and the xenomorph.#and they were all sleek and black. except for when the company turned them bright pink #i love my dreams.#🌃#oh btw it was never confirmed if the girls like. turned into nightmare cyborgs on purpose #but they very much enjoyed it.#especially the murdering people part
