i read your points and DAMN you reminded me of the stuff i didnt like back in s1 that I FORGOT bc so many years have passed since i watched + read the series. I forgot how much I loved bastard, asshole Aziraphale. TV him is characterized as 100% good, better than heaven dude which isn't bad.. and hes very fluffy and adorable. But i always liked the difference between that and crowley being a demon and yet nice. i always missed him calling him "my dear" too. If theyre gonna make them lovey dovey in TV, make him call him my dear damn it!!

As a book fan too, i personally loved s2. But reading your points made me realize it wasnt completely perfect so I respect your side. I do hope s3 turns out to be better than our expectations so you can tune back to it again. I just want you to have more content that you can enjoy even if it's completely new stuff. I understand the feeling so bad of having new stuff but being unable to enjoy it (a diff show for me). Makes you wonder what kind of plot he and Terry originally planned for all this fanservicey stuff to happen. I agree about the book part too, Crowley would never throw those around! The part with them meeting as angels, honestly I think it wouldve been better if they just didn't remember it so they wouldn't ruin their first meeting in the book. It would've been fine as a throwaway like "they met but don't remember."

With the finale,, hmmm I think TV!Azira's characterization def plays a part in why he did it. TV!him screams as someone who is still insecure about being an angel and losing his privileges. So he took the only opportunity he could to change heaven so he and Crowley could live in peace, after seeing Gabriel who is alr so powerful, be cast away after that decision. I'm curious though, how would you think book!him would think in this decision?? With an Armageddon 2 coming up again I can't imagine of anything else the two of them could do to fight it again w/o an influence in higher power.

And yeah like you said, it's possible to enjoy the book and the show at the same time, just taking into consideration that they are different media and characters. It's hard to imagine book!Aziraphale in this situation because there has been too many differences that led to this situation......and I just don't see book!Aziraphale in this situation, because to begin with, I don't think Gabriel would even go to him in times of trouble, lol. So let's say that Metatron directly went to him after everything had happened and Gabriel had already ran off and offered him the position (with an offer he can't refuse) -- I think he would have to accept on the surface, and then he would immediately go to Crowley to try to work their way out of it/figure out a way to keep the position but still slacks off all the time like he's always done 😂😂

I visited your blog to find that great edit you made of Alex Wilder again, because I think it's just great and one of the best edits i've seen of Alex. I was wondering though, what did you think of Rowell's time on the comic series. I really do admire how much she cares about the characters, I really do, but I had a massive problem with the progression of the stories. I just feel like it would have been better if it was in a show rather than a one comic that comes out once a month

In terms of Rowell's run. It started off as one of my favorite runs and as time went on I grew to really dislike it.

I think there's some stuff she does I REALLY love - I think she gets Alex on a level a lot of writers really don't and does some genuinely interesting things with him which is very important to me personally since he's one of my favs. I sometimes like to look at the stuff she wrote for him in a vacuum and pretend the rest of that run doesn't exist LMAO. The stuff with Molly and her reluctance to abandon her parents because she was so young when she lost them I find very compelling as well, as well as stuff that begins to be explored with Chase in terms of How To Cope With Your Dead Girlfriend Coming Back to Life And Still Being 16, but unfortunately it isn't really resolved. Gib also is a fun addition to the cast and I like the parallels between him and the rest of the Runaways. Anka's art is ofc beautiful as always (kinda a minor issue tho but I wish he had gone less nugoth for Nico and stuck to her more classic romantic/trad goth looks - it makes her look so artificial to me)

It's been a hot second so I really need a reread but iirc i didn't have as much of an issue with pacing as I did with some weird characterization and plot choices so I don't really know if another format would have improved it, but maybe if a show or something stretched out the runtime of each arcs. I saw someone say once that Rowell is a fix-it writer and i think that really describes the problems with this run, which is that she's far more interested in resolving ""plot holes"" and bringing back old characters than telling new interesting stories. I put plot holes in quotation marks because frankly a lot of these things are not plot holes. The fact that we don't know how the staff of one works is NOT a plot hole, its part of it being a weird fucked magic artifact. Making it a person kind of undermines everything Nico has gone thru in the rest of her arc and adds some weird ass implications to every other writer's work. Even with things that actually are issues, comic history is full of holes not everything exists to be repaired especially if it comes at the cost of cool stories.

THE ROMANCE ARCS feel engineered just to kinda create cute moments rather than good stories. I didn't find Nico and Karolina's relationship issues believable or interesting at all especially considering their respective histories. I find them and a lot of the cast to be vastly OOC but that's pretty typical for comics I guess. Victor and Gert's romance is one of my main issues as well because it just seems kind of out of nowhere to me and just kind of an effort to pair off the cast. I don't feel like they have any chemistry, Vic (and the rest of the cast but mostly him) feels really dumbed down and his complex struggles with bodily autonomy are simplified down to him wanting to hold his new girlfriend. Just overall his characterization in this comic completely revolves around Gert and it sucks. Gert in general is a huge issue for me because while I find her an interesting character in her original form, in this run she kind of monopolizes the entire comic with her arcs always taking precedence. AND THEY DONT EVEN DO ANYTHING INTERESTING WITH HER. SHE LITERALLY DIED AND CAME BACK AND LOST YEARS OF TIME WITH HER FREINDS WHO HAVE GROWN CLOSER IN HER ABSENCE and instead they write this very like cartoonishly evil fatphobia plot which doesn't seem interested in saying anything besides "fatphobia bad :(" I normally hate to like try to read author intention but its difficult to me not to think Rowell did a bit of a self insert/authors pet situation here.

TLDR - OVERALL I think the comic could REALLY have benefited from less characters with longer arcs rather than trying to fit everything and the kitchen sink from the last 20 years of runaways history. But I also think it is unfortunately one of the best and only runaways comics we've gotten recently so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ def need a reread to fully collect my thoughts as well

hellohello! let me first start off by saying that you are not alone in feeling this, anon :')) i understand on some level what ur feeling; i cared a lot abt followers too.

when i first opened this blog, i really only wrote for nct and i felt really let down bc i didn't get as many notes or attention as some of my peers. in a way, i basically used that as motivation to keep on writing? i mean, i was trying to figure out what people here liked, and in the beginning i really did just continue to write for me and the small group of people who found me and supported me. but eventually, it got to the point where i was really just hungry for followers and validation and chasing milestone after milestone,,,

idek what i was trying to get at w this lol but tbh i was kind of lucky in finding mutuals here. so ig that's one of my tips: try and reach out to people so u can lean on one another and boost each other! it's a great way to improve on writing and maintain some form of motivation 🤧 and it doesn't work for everyone, but i would say to write what u want, and keep practicing that (also im kind of stubborn lol so sometimes i just keep going until it gives? which in retrospect, prob isn't the greatest...). there r quite a handful of works of mine that don't get /anywhere/ in regards to notes, but i loved them a lot, and so i wanted to share them for those who /do/ appreciate them. and finally, every once in awhile, i step away from tumblr!! when i find my outlook becoming more toxic, that's when ik i need to remove myself lol giving myself a few days break gives me room to breathe mentally and emotionally, and i feel less pressure to appease people (and that's usually when i get some of my best/favorite pieces done)

but whether u just started or you've been here for awhile, i really would encourage u to keep writing and practicing. ik that advice literally sucks ass, but it really does just come with time and practice. and to answer ur other question, i started writing recreationally in middle school to cope w something personal in my life and then i fell in love and have been filling my free time w it since. (but i didn't start writing ff until a little over a year and half ago...?) sometimes when i do feel myself falling into the "interactions/followers" rabbit hole, i do just have to step away until i can find my bearings and remember why i started this in the first place. cuz it would feel awful to ruin that goodness for yourself, right?

lemme throw a tldr here — it’s just me ranting abt how much i hate dick berman and what he did to kira. also in terms of this blog i will have the divergences to stay more faithful to what nana visitor wanted vs what’s actually portrayed. anyways.

okay, i know i’ve been complaining about this a lot lately but in my defense, i’m also actively rewatching ds/9. full disclosure: i love w.or.f a lot. i relate deeply to his narrative of not feeling quite klingon and not fitting in with humans (the diaspora allegory hits y’all) but i really hate how he was introduced in ds9 as a way to directly undermine kira’s authority, and narratively, you can see him beginning to replace her in the place of the friend group. 

starting s4, you really start to see kira hanging out with dax, julian, and even miles waaaay less than she did in the previous season. instead, she’s replaced by w0rf most of the time —— as if they can’t have more than one “outsider” trying to integrate in the group. to top that off, he’s given the position of being defiant’s executive officer even though kira was the XO since the defiant was brought onto the show. in fact, it’s not even given much thought to it. you don’t see sisko talking to kira about the transition, you don’t see kira’s reaction to it. no, he’s just given that position despite the fact that kira has more experience with the ship, that kira knows the kinks of the defiant, and that kira has the most professional synergy with the engineering team (at least, at that point in canon). 

this makes me think about how nana visitor had anxieties and reservations about bringing w0rf onto ds9 because she didn’t want him to replace kira. w0rf was brought onto ds9 to bring up ratings, and it’s very obvious in retrospect too when we think about how worf’s life on ds9 is never brought up again after the show ended. 

on top of all that, they “physically” softened kira up. this is something we know happened because it was to please the men viewing the show, and the women who’re so into policing other women for not being “feminine” enough. not only do they change her uniform drastically — it’s just her’s too! other bajoran militia members still have their utilitarian uniforms! they have shoulder pads, belts, realistic boots for people who work on their feet all day whilst kira’s wearing fucking booties with heels all because nana visitor “walked like john wayne” 

paying close attention, i see them pushing kira away from her friends and pushing her more towards o/do as if to subtly set them up for a romance plot. to top that off, she has more notable interactions with fucking DUKAT than she does with dax, who we’re supposed to believe is her best friend. the same DAX who provided her with a sounding board of reason (ie. look at “duet - 1x18″). this is also the season where dukat begins to SHAMELESSLY and RELENTLESSLY hit on her, harass her even more than he already does. oh and the cherry on top? she’s paired with shakaar, who was most definitely a grown ass adult man that met her when nerys was a literal child. the obvious inclination of pairing kira with all these men who are significantly older than her starting this season is, as we know, a common and incredibly misogynistic hollywood trope. 

the producer, executive, writer who we shall not name being the main driving force of why kira was changed the way she was makes it hard to ignore the misogyny that drove this change. it’s not what nana wanted, but it was something she had to compromise on because she loved kira. still, i cannot help but to think about the amount of gross storylines that kira’s been thrown into / almost thrown into (ie. romance with .... du....kat)

whilst nana absolutely killed it at kira and did all she could to protect the integrity of her character, she was 100% a victim of 90′s misogyny and in some ways, even homophobia (bc never forget nana and terry wanted kiradax canon :)) 

im so sorry you have to go through that as a writer 😭 i personally find it unfair and stupid?? i feel like things are never completely original and always Inspired off of something one way or another even if it’s unintentionally and small. out of all the fan fictions out there and plots and aus and suddenly when someone picks a popular au and theme it’s copying someone who used the same? i personally never read whatever this is about so maybe im misunderstanding something but fully trust that you make your own work. i really hope you dont listen to any of the hate you get because it’s just not true 😭 youve made other great fics and are a good writer. people need to just chilll, its not the end of the world (swear some might act like it because they have nothing better to do). people want to stick up for a writer they like and so will i but please use your brain sometimes gah damn. theres probably a similar fic out there but with a different anime 😭 copy is such a silly word in the writing field. unless its word for word or the resemblance is actually really noticeable that it’s a replica then yeah sure— but similarities in a popular trope? 💀

Exactly my point! fanfiction is never purely original- its basically things that we experience, fantasize and think about that are strewn together for characters that are/ were never originally ours to begin with (and it makes me think if we can be technically sued for defamy or not- but then again these platforms are famous for it)

To begin with, i write my fics according to the character's personality. After making breaking rules and showing how Sae can be, its only time that i write a bullying fic about it. And its not like this troupe was created yesterday, its been present since fanfiction came. There are so many troupes like fwb, bully x nerd, villain x hero, mafia! au, smau, royalty au, forbidden! love etc. and there are so many fanfics that have been written along these troupes that they tend to coincide or even match - dialogue wise or even plot line. now if i pick up the troupe bully! x nerd! there are so many different routes to it like :

Nerd being the bully's tutor ,Nerd being the bully's lab partner - either for chemistry or biology, Nerd being the bully's childhood friend etc. depends on which one you pick and in this case i decided to go with the second one. Picking up with what anon said abt me taking an ask and outright accusing me of seeing it and using it- since i follow other blogs, if anyone knows me here (and i say this not from a place of arrogance)- i am a very closed off person and literally don't interact with other blogs, neither do i tag them or vice versa nor go into their ask boxes - the last time i dropped in a suggestion for a fic i was planning to write in a fellow fandom writer's box - which was a street racer! fic for one of the characters i wanted to write for (after watching tokyo drift) , it literally turned up the next day in the 'x reader' from a famous author with the excuse of anons asking them for a street racer fic of the same character i wanted to write for. And i felt really bad and hurt cause someone took it with it going over 2k notes in a week when i was just a small time writer - but i didn't say anything neither did i want to jump to conclusions so i shook it off. and even now i see people paraphrasing my work or twisting the plotline so that it looks like the work wasn't originally mine and after talking it through with a friend who pointed it out; erotica and romance are not unique genres and there tends to be an overlap between the two, so i can't call a person out like that. and this is not even literally published work.

Even tumblr has their own writing prompts along with many other blogs that create them for writers to use - would they fight over the same dialogue that fits the plot line that they saw would fit which matches with each other?

And yes, i do create my own works. i'm open to suggestions sure- but i produce my own content. i followed writing prompts for a while but wasn't really interested in and started thinking of my own dialogues along with plots. For eg, i started working on an emperor! sae fic earlier in april this year, but since i wanted to be of a good quality, i went down to the point of studying about imperialism in japan in more detail - but the fic is still a doc and not out yet and i am pretty sure there is someone out there who is working on something similar or maybe the same thing or discussing about it unlike me cause i had one too many ideas taken from my blog - again benefit of doubt cause some minds can think alike.

So when anon decided to come at me, i wasn't happy about it- esp when i have gone through the same thing and when they don't even know me or the kind of person i am nor interact with my posts. and it was only one - i can tell cause the way they were waiting for me to answer their ask. Luckily, Zari stepped in and ended the discourse early cause from my time on tumblr for 4 years i've seen how bad it can get along with how far anons can take it.

And even after Zari and i settled the matter, this anon wouldn't let go of it- coming into my box and pinpointing out even the smallest of the detail despite the writers (who are supposed to write the content) settling the issue. To begin with, they don't even know me and even had the cheek to tell me about my online activities despite not knowing me (that too from behind anonymous); i literally don't owe them or anyone a justification for the content i write or post especially someone who wouldn't even show me who they are. And i totally agree with you. Standing up for a writer you like is good thing, but use some common sense before you decide to accuse someone or think through twice before you write something about someone you don't even know cause it could cause damage to a reputation they have built online - while you are on anonymous. cyberbullying and harassment are real issues and they can hurt people (luckily it didn't get to that point) and why would i even copy an idea? i would literally have more to lose than to gain with backlash; does it really look like i would want to put myself through that? sadly some people lack that sense of logic.

Anyway, this was just a small bump along the route. i'm keeping the fic on the blog cause some people liked it, but i probably won't revisit it- and i'm moving onto writing for more characters based on wips i created a while back but are unfinished. And i'm glad to see you enjoy my works, it means a lot to me when someone drops in messages like these!

I've been a fan of jm (and never of bts cuz they literally always bullied him) since 2016 and really disliked jk in the beginning cuz of how he acted with jm. But then i got into the jikook rabbit hole why? Cuz jk actually did change for awhile then. There was palpable change between jikook and jk was following jm's every move etc. I do think jk, as others were, was jealous of jm's success too but during 17-18 you could see him being jealous of jm rather than of jm's success. He inserted himself to anywhere jm was and all the 3j or jinminkook lives etc were because jk was actually actively inserting himself to jm's life. He wanted to be a part of jm's life, know everything abt him etc. Like other anons said jeonlous was a thing cuz how he behaved was really noticeable by everyone. Even as someone who never shipped real ppl I was drawn to watching them closely cuz of how much jm loved him and how weird some of jk's reactions were towards jm compared to others. Thinking about those times feels like a joke now but as you said, like many others by the end of 2018 i thought whtvr there might've been between jikook was getting shattered. Jm was actually really pissy at jk for awhile but back then jk was still following jm around like a puppy. For me 2019 was rocky and when those rumors came i was done with the ship. Shipping wise one thing was definitely true, 2017-2018 jikook was very very close and in sync and while i dont think they were in proper relationship i think they had smth going on whatever that might be. And Jm really brought out the best in jk. And jk or any fans would never admit but i really think jk being able to do videography back then was cuz jm also became like a muse to him. Its ironic that th ignored everyone then and now comes and acts like a bestie to jk and jk feeds into this and also hangs out with him since jm dumped bith their fake asses. Like everyone is sayin tkk are both similar in how fake they are. And jk feels so antipathetic, directionless and lacks any realness. Like you said having th as your close friend would do that to you lol. All i know is jm doesnt care abt jk anymore and finally saw the light and saved himself from being 'friends' w someone who was never able to respect him even after all the closeness/memories they shared. Its not only this past year too, jm's boundaries and distance has been pretty evident since 2020 (not only with jk but all of them) and i do think he considers only jhope as his friend out of bts. Jhope used to undermine jm too (and was incrediblu jealous before) but i feel like he saw a true friendship in jm compared to others and both are more genuine in their friendship than before. About the recent live, I do also think jk is bitter as fuck tho cuz why say all that about tattoos when he knows what everyone thought. He had all the time to say all this but never did. He's such a spoiled person that i feel like he could even be bitter about jm not contacting him anymore unless he does even tho for years he exploited jm's love and affection. But I think why jungkook followed jimin is because jimin was like a idol or a big brother he adored. He always wnated to dance with him. Even he doesnt admit it he saw him as muse and for example like how jimin see taeyang. you know what i mean? Cause when you watch videos from 2016 jungkook alywas wants jimin. Why cause he was the coolest memebr back than coolest dancer. Finally, my elements.

— Your boyfriend is tall to the point of annoying, he's around 190cm and he's far too physical about everything for his own good. Since that one time he elbowed you in the face, Vinny had always been cautious of whenever you walked behind him.

It got bad to the point where he refused to walk in front of you and loomed behind you. People have mistaken him for some harasser on more than one occasion before he accepted that the best approach was holding your hand when you walk together from thereon.

— Puts things at lower places to help you reach them easily. However, he can be forgetful sometimes and put them back to where they were before you were around. He got better at it the longer the two of you are together but every now and then, it happened.

At this point, he's really thinking about investing in a step stool for you in cases where he couldn't be home to help you out.

— Nothing, and by that, I meant absolutely nothing, annoyed him as much as the time when someone mistook the two of you for siblings. It bothered him because it was not something he could react with aggression, but also it drove him to the wall with that.

Luckily, that was an anomaly because the person making the mistake was visually impaired and didn't have their glasses. However, it happened in front of the entire crew and he never got to live it down until this day.

— One time you annoyed him during a stupid argument to the point where he didn't want to leave but he wanted you to stop. Instead of asking you what he wanted, he simply picked you up and carried you to bed.

In fact, this is how he dealt with most situations where he didn't want to bother with anymore. It's not healthy to run away from problems but hey, if the choice is available, he will not overlook it.

— No one can make any comment about your height while he was around, not unless they wanted to be glared to death by Vinny. Pick on you while he was around? Not a chance.

The only height jokes he accepted without much aggression was the one including him as well. Mostly because he was busy getting flustered about the implication in the beginning.

Later on, he will adopt an extremely "Yeah, what about it?" attitude towards any height joke including him when it came to you. If you're into it, who cares what anyone else thinks? The only opinion he cared about was yours.

— You being smaller than him means whenever the team had to travel around in cramped space, you defaulted to sit on his lap. He could endure it for about twenty minutes max before a strange bump on the road created unnecessary friction.

Vinny often had pretty good control of himself, however, he could only take so much before he had a bodily reaction.

Honestly, save him the trouble and ignore it for him, because otherwise, he was going to die. Just look away, pretend it's not there, maybe you're sitting on his belt buckle even if he didn't have a belt.

— He has a myriad of colourful and questionable choices of clothing in his own closet, you knew that Vinny's style was pretty flashy. However, he liked them best when they were on you, even if he won't allow you to steal his clothes.

Any other boyfriend, yes, steal their clothes. Not Vinny. You will not get away with stealing something far too big for your size and in that tacky colour, no bargaining, give it back.

— He's pretty much your personal windbreaker for the price of $free.99. Whenever there's huge wind or pouring rain, Vinny pretty much used himself to shield you from getting anything splattered or blown your way.

The height disparity does make it comical whenever the two of you shared an umbrella. Either you don't get any coverage or Vinny can't see the road. Pick your battle.

— Can't escape this but... you on the shorter side makes him a bit more affectionate. It's not really conscious, really. He cuddles with you more often, always holds you close when the two of you are asleep even when he prefers to sleep on his back.

Pretty much wants you within his sight whenever possible. Like... he knows he's whipped, he doesn't care if others said anything about it.

— One problem with the gap is how the two of you need to do an incredible amount of climbing on an elevated platform or knee-bending for both of you to even fit into the frame.

Vinny didn't get his pictures taken often, but whenever it happened, it's always you in the mainframe and like, half of his chin in it. If you let him take the camera then... one, he doesn't really take pictures so it will be horrible, two, there's him and the top of your head.

Better ask someone else to take the picture if you wanted a good one with both of you within the frame.

t/n: The idiom is literally “Candy and Whip”, which is equivalent to the use of “Carrots and Sticks”. “Carrots and Sticks”, as in the idiom that people use to describe when one uses both the promise of a benefit and a punishment to manipulate someone to do something. random ex: a person says that if you let them stay at your house for a while, they’ll buy you a new phone... but if you reject them, they say they’re going to set your car on fire. well carrots and sticks don’t make for a pretty mental image so I changed it. lol

In common ikevam fashion, this is a collection event to coincide with the release of Faust’s Main Route. imo the route is doing a better job at showing his chara positively than Will’s route, but..... faust was never my type to begin with so u know LOL but im only on like chapter 12-ish anyway so yea nothing really significant has happened

anyway, i am pleasantly surprised that the Count got to partake in this one!! it might seem like a really long time since the last Count appearance under the context of this blog, but that’s only really bc ive sat out on covering Count-involved events (namely the AU scenario event w/ a shared route with Leo and the “caring for a child” collection event). i don’t think they’re super bad or anything (i actually like the latter for treading newer ground on event topics for once)…. im just chillin. ive never been a very active blog regardless

this was kind of interesting bc the event actually places this one above leo’s (leo is the story before, which puts him at “4th place” out of 7 if we call arthur “1st”). this is weird bc even tho occasionally they’ll mess with story order not coinciding with character popularity if they feel that the story in question is more ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°), but putting leo’s story that early is rly weird. leo’s story being given before even mozart is like…. wow someone’s not too proud of that story LOL ill be honest tho…. the leo story is pretty basic, past stories in the leo sexi man canon considered. well i get it – leo is not the type to take out his negative emotions onto others, which is more or less related to the theme of this event.

this collection event is only a week long, so im wondering if they have anything interesting lined up. man i hope so…… clearly they kno ppl who like the count exist bc they bothered to move his story up. but where’s the respect!! (jk… partly)
