Billy just glowers at him, for the five hundredth time that day. He should have known when coach said they were bunking alphabetically and some of the rooms would only have one bed, that luck would not be on his side.
Billy shuffles on his feet, squaring his shoulders, “Get out of my way.”
Harrington cocks his head to the side, “Is that how you speak to your King?”
“Get. The. Fuck. Out. Of. My. Way.”
“Or what?” Harrington's smiling in that vicious way, lip curling. (Or literally any part of this series, cause holy shit, King Steve)

His first breath of free air had got caught in his throat however, because God may have allowed him to leave his old hell, but that was only so that he could be plunged into a new one. Sure, maybe he was being overdramatic, but the universe must have it out for him. Why else would he be roomed with possibly the prettiest, most infuriatingly sweet man ever? One who spoke about boobs and chicks and everything else enough to hammer home how out of bounds he was? One that he’d have to continue to pretend around.
Billy’s other survival mechanisms had kicked in almost instantly. Unfortunately, the survival mechanism for dealing with his crush on his stupidly handsome roommate was apparently to be a massive asshole. Every innocent comment, every kind remark or offer of friendship was rebuffed with a snappy or bitchy quip, ones that had him groaning internally each time they left his lips. Not that it seemed to deter Steve, if anything his eyes lit up whenever Billy threw an insult his way, which was odd because he wouldn’t have pegged Steve as a masochist.

Just as he was about to take another swing for Hargrove's face, Steve found his wrist caught in a large hand, his back against the metal lockers, and his lips pressed against another pair. He grunted, protesting for maybe ten seconds before he was grabbing Billy's hair with his free hand, and kissed him back.
Kissing Billy was nothing like kissing a girl. It was a dangerous combination of teeth and tongue locked in a battle for dominance. And he hated himself for backing down.
"I want to fuck you," Billy said against his lips before beginning to suck and bite down his jaw. Steve let out an involuntary moan, suddenly finding his jeans far too tight...

Mom trying to remember if there was a fanfic where Steve goes Deaf, and Billy doesn’t realize it? He’s trying to apologize, but Steve doesn’t pay attention (because he couldn’t hear)

heya there!!!!! i'm new to harringrove and am now anxiously waiting for updates on lo/hi bc i love the way both of you write them (no pressure to rush btw, just wanted to let you know ^^), i was also wondering if you have any fic recs list for them

Laundry Day by nastea (actually just go read all of nastea's fics for choice, choice smut) - a communal laundry room and a loud washing machine.
kickstart my heart by hoppnhorn - vampire!Steve and werewolf!Billy and they are the perfect combination of pining and stubborn.

Also! I would highly recommend going through the Harringrove For Australia tag for some AMAZING contributions to the fandom. Definitely some of my favorite fics came out of that event.

Hi do you have any harringrove fic recs? I’m new to the fandom and I’ve read all of yours (multiple times) but there’s literally thousands and I’m struggling to decide what to read, so I’d love to know if you have any suggestions!
First of all?? I'm sobbing, crying, throwing confetti that you've read my stuff multiple times and have now asked for recs. That's a huge honor and I am laying facedown on the floor bawling.
Second of all:
I love @heckinahandbasket. She nails the characters every time (and you should also check out her original fiction and support her financially, 11/10 good stuff). My two fav fics from her stash are: "Treasure of the Sea" (piracy, courting behavior, historical A/B/O), and "I Ain't Afraid of No Ghosts" (ghost Billy, historical elements, cutest fucking ending of all goddamn time).
My beloved wife @artemisthehuntress wrote a lovely canon-divergent scene that takes place between S2 and S3 and fills me with joy and lots of yummy hurt/comfort feelings: "The Sky Wouldn't Fall" on AO3.
@ariesbilly and @deedoop write some good smut (mind the tags). @dragonflylady77 is a pal and has some great stuff on her blog. @memes-saved-me is a pillar of the Harringrove community, as are @artwraith and @cherry-sorry !

i’m writing harringrove again!
so I watched season 4 and started missing our boys again. I'm currently writing maybekegboys? who knows, what it will actually turns out to be :D

Dick Harrington Doesn't Know What He's Doing Series in which Steve’s dad is Pretty Okay! and people have feelings about this
Richard Harrington: Hawkins' Okayest Dad in which the thing about Richard Harrington was: he was a smart man, self-aware one. He knew he wasn’t the best parent in the world, but his son always seemed to be doing okay.He never had a heart to punish Steve. After all, he loved his son, so much. He just wasn’t very good at showing it.But he really, truly cared about his boy’s happiness. And now, standing in his son’s ajar bedroom’s door, Richard had to wonder: was this the thing making Steve happy?
who are those people? in which Dick is hungover and there are even more people in his house. Good thing Billy's cooking is excellent.
Billy Hargrove's Week-Long Headache in which It's been four days since Steve's father came home, and he's not going to leave for another six. Steve's mostly at work, so Billy's trapped in the house with Mr. Harrington. He's slowly losing his mind, and can't even go for a ride, since Neil still keeping the Camaro hostage.The more Richard proves he's decent man, the more Billy feels like it's all a trap.
ain't no rest for the wicked in which Steve is way too blasé about murder and Billy's in near-constant state of panic.
Summary:
Steve Harrington is just standing here, like he’s not the one who fucking hit a human with a nailed bat in the head, like it was nothing, like Neil isn’t laying on the ground with a crushed skull, oh God, is this some cruel fucking joke, why is this the time for his prayers to be listened to, why couldn’t it be when he was fucking nine and fucking praying for his daddy to stop hitting him?
and also this disaster of an idea AND execution which is pretty cringy, but i’m gonna link anyway, because I’m an attention whore:
what we do in Chicago in which In hindsight, it was kinda obvious. The constant “business trips”, never-ending stream of “high-society parties”, almost fearful respect all their supposed co-workers were showing, the ambiguity of what, exactly, they were doing for living… Steve’s parents were mafia.

Stranger Things Fic Rec
Let me get one thing out of the way: absolutely nobody asked for this. But I love these pairings and stories so much I had to share it with you all. This is heavy on Steve/Billy with some Steve/Eddie sprinkled in.
If you've never read Stranger Things fic, or when you saw this post thought "oh yeah, that 80s kid monster show" I encourage you to give these a try! You don't have to know much about the show besides the bare bones of the plot. (And my ask box is always open for Qs!) If you like angsty teenage boys who are in denial about their feelings and hate their hometown, read on.

Notes: Literally one of my favorite fics of all time, I will never shut up about it. Gay threesomes. Angst. A sweltering midwestern summer. Homoerotic undertones that builds to filthy gay porn. The vibes are all there.

The older man was already in the trees when he turned back around and stated his name, eyes bright and grin wide. Steve never heard it; he couldn't read his lips from so far a distance between them. So instead, he watched Munson walk away; the teen, now wide awake, went to sit on the hood of his car to wait for Hopper to show. On that crisp, cold January night in 1985 - Steve Harrington heard the sound of Eddie Munson's voice for the first and last time. He never even knew his name.
Notes: The only WIP on this rec list, and totally worth the wait. Great characterization. So many little tidbits of information that have me squealing with joy. But also dark and grounded in reality.

Tommy H. invites Billy to a party at Steve's house. Billy expected hot chicks and booze, but when he shows up, there's only the latter. Steve and Tommy teach Billy that in Hawkins, sometimes you just gotta make do.
Notes: When I think of this fic I literally start sweating its so sexy. The fic that got me hooked on Steve/Billy and gay Steve in general. Its so subtle and gritty and grimy and hot. And Tommy is egging everyone on, yet oblivious, just how I like him.

Steve's sophomore year, Billy showed up.
Notes: A fandom classic. The perfect example of Steve/Billy getting together in world, and dealing with their feelings (+ porn, because I'm me and I need porn in all my fic).
We'll Go Down in History by @eternalgoldfish | Billy/Steve
Hawkins High takes a field trip to Baltimore to see historical sites and Steve would rather jump out his hotel window.
Notes: So much teenage angst and tomfoolery in this one! A little more lighthearted than others on the list. Gets to that theme in ST that I love: the idle hands of teenage boys are the devil's playthings.
Dom 4 Hire by @lazybakerart
Steve is naked, on his hands and knees, in the apartment he shares with his high school sweetheart for a man he only just met in person five minutes ago.
Notes: From the second I saw Steve Harrington on screen I knew that boy was a sub dying for someone to call him a good boy. And Billy is just the dom for the job. My only complaint is that I wish this was longer!

It’s only noon; Billy knows neither of them have work that evening, and their shitty gen-ed biology lab was cancelled. They’ve only been hanging out for an hour, and maybe Billy isn’t quite done fucking around with Harrington yet. Maybe he’ll indulge him.
Notes: Cocky Billy is what the world needs! Great banter and dialogue. Just a snapshot of what I imagine their afternoons would look like, and the teens of Hawkins would be like "why the fuck are they always hanging out?" totally oblivious.
slipping through by sightetsound | Steve/Billy
It was the weed, and the pilfered whiskey from Steve’s daddy dearest they passed back and forth. It was actually how Steve’s eyes caught the moonlight. How his mouth moved when he spoke, and how it curved on a grin Billy would call relaxed when they were alone. Admitting as much felt too much like giving ground, and so it was the weed and whiskey.
Notes: Really bittersweet, heartfelt, and sincere. A different kind of pace for this pairing.
You Get Too Close by @trashcangimmick | Steve/Billy
Steve sits at the back of the bus on the way to a basketball match in Gary. Billy Hargrove sits right across from him.
Notes: Be for real- when we saw that basketball and shower scene we were all hoping it would go in the direction of this fic. Gives me the vibe of an 80s porno in the best way.
Reflecting on the Longest Wavelength by @trashcangimmick | Billy/Hopper
Billy’s heat hits early. Jim Hopper happens to find him before anyone else does.
Notes: This pairing is a little rouge, I don't see it often and its hard to pin down for me past all the basic tropes. I really like the A/B/O world-building here and find myself returning to it.

I just wanted to do a full recommendation/review/whatever you’d call this of a fic I absolutely ADORE for one of my friends who deserves to hear how good of a writer she is.
Lust For Life by @oopsiedaisiesbaby is an incredible piece of writing, even if you read it having no idea who Billy or Steve are. Tonally, it is a modern romcom with an adorable ending that made me cry more than once (I will try to keep spoilers to the very minimum)
Steve has a heart of gold, he is so incredibly precious while still being immediately recognisable as himself from the show. His disability and his experiences as a sex worker are discussed honestly and compassionately and the way he works to be a better person than he was in high school is incredibly heartwarming.
Billy is a scene stealer in every chapter he’s in. He’s both so unmistakably Billy in his temperament and mannerisms while clearly having been able to heal from both the Mindflayer and Neil. The way his character progresses and grows, with both heart and humour makes you unable to stop reading. It’s a smaller detail but I also adore how intelligent, both academically and emotionally Billy is in this fic, it really adds an extra layer of depth to the piece.
Harringrove’s relationship is truly the soul of the fic. Without giving too much away, the way they become so entangled in each other’s life, from the very first meeting to the very end could easily match up to the standard of published romance books, while still showing their dumb mistakes that are typical of their early twenties.
The supporting cast include Robin, who is a delight as always as Steve’s best friend, Heather who I personally think is one of the most interesting characters in this fic, Jason who is a “vicious murder twink” and also effortlessly one of the funniest characters and Eddie, who couldn’t be any more Eddie if he tried. Despite not having as large of a role, Jonathan, Argyle and the party all make cameos too and are extremely fun.
Overall I’d say if you like Harringrove, munver, Buckleway, friends to friends with benefits to lovers and a very oblivious “straight” Steve, I’d immediately recommend this fic, it’s so worth it.
