John Dee is a fun one. A kind of random boss in WA3, there was a John Dee Character in both Wild Arms 1 and 2, who was in both cases a cutting edge wizard of Crest Sorcery --although it is erroneously localized as "Dhee" and "Day" rather than Dee. Both lived in isolation, WA2 specifically living in a little shack on an inaccessible island, something nodded to by WA3's boss being hidden in a similarly remote hideout, The Greenlodge. But they're both named after the real world alchemist and occultist (among many other things) John Dee. The real world John Dee is actually actually a huge influence on modern pop culture in a number of ways you might not expect...

As an alchemist his portraits are actually the source of much of the iconic imagery of a wizard, tall hat and robes, hunched over a cauldron or beaker, accompanied by a globe, and in some room of a stone castle or tower. His likeness is what replaced the popular image of King Arthur's Merlin, where as previous depictions had depicted him as more of a wild druid sort.

The man also contributed heavily to the lore of sacred and angelic names and geometries and numerology, as he had a real penchant for cryptology... which makes sense because he was also a spy for Queen Elizabeth, and it is his intelligence reports that were signed with the alias oo7 that inspired the codename of James Bond.
