Noise game.
#winging it#raven beak#samus aran#samus#metroid dread#metroid#chozo#metroid comic#Chozo have a habit of just making noise. it's fun!#Samus does it too (picked it up during childhood) though her smaller human throat doesn't allow her quite as much range.#make no mistake: her mimicry is very impressive. she just can't flawlessly imitate an oncoming 16-wheeler.#She can do other Things though. As Raven Beak displays his mastery over the ringtone. so too does she have this power.#she has the upper hand in some places: lips and teeth allow her more tools with which to execute the finer points of complex noises#but her elders have tricks of their own.#Raven Beak can imitate human kissy noises in his throat using the very back of his tongue#making noises at each other is honestly one of their best bonding activities so far.#though they're usually sitting across the room from each other when they come out with the ear blast-tier moves#they don't need to talk to each other. don't even need to look at each other. they can just sit in the living room and go back and forth#with noises. they get competitive sometimes. that's typically when the loud stuff comes into play.#sometimes they have these wordless competitions of who can make the most intricate noises or the loudest noises or the weirdest noises#or they try to see who can make the most outlandish sound that flesh can feasibly make. like heavy machinery. stuff that you wouldn't expec#someone to be able to make on their own without the help of equipment.

“when you play go, you pursue your desires in silence. you seduce, and you fall. you strip each other bare. and if your partner doesn't reciprocate, then it's just a game of go.”
go as an overarching symbol throughout the glory, both figuratively as a representation of dongeun’s revenge, and also as a metaphor for class and relations (between her and the men in her life, i.e. yeojeong and doyeong).
on a relational level, go is a game of seduction. it’s a mental sword dance, so to speak. dongeun learns it with revenge in mind - she plans to catch the interest of doyeong, the husband of the girl who destroyed her life. she uses go to approach him - she seduces him the very first time he sees her play, so much that he can’t get her out of his head. she uses go to entice him; she wins before he even knows that he’s playing.
dongeun learns go for the purposes of ensnaring doyeong, but it’s yeojeong who first teaches her go at all. and it’s go that becomes a cornerstone of their burgeoning relationship as well. throughout the seasons, go helps both of them, as something that centers them, tethers them to current life. for yeojeong, his sessions mentoring dongeun in go were the only thing that created a schedule for him in his most turbulent time (after his father died, etc.). it becomes their mode of communication - he asks her to make a play so that he can know she came by. a silent way of saying i’m alive.
and then there’s dongeun approaching doyeong to play go, then them meeting again at the park he designed. yeojeong also approaches doyeong to play go, also purposefully - the man who taught dongeun vs the man she learned to play for.
but for dongeun, go is never about the men so much as it is about herself. go becomes something she loves for what it is, a game that builds territories, a game where the enemy can be slowly and methodically destroyed as you take all their territories, like how she plans to take everything from yeonjin. it reminds her of the dreams of being an architect she had before she had to drop out of school from the bullying/assault.
doyeong says that one of his go teachers tells him that he was born holding the black stones. when dongeun plays with yeojeong for the first time, she says she has to start with the white stones, since she’s the beginner. that’s how they play, for months. when doyeong meets dongeun after finding out the beginnings of the truth, he says that this game is more difficult than the ones he’s played in the past (and she beats him, the first time they play prior to that meeting).
the black stones represent the upper hand, the wealthy. it’s a class metaphor, especially when related to doyeong. yeojeong also starts out with the black stones, maybe because of wealth, maybe because he’s learned it for far longer. maybe because life was kinder to him. dongeun starts at the bottom, with the white stones, because she has nothing and knows nothing.
but when she places her first stones on the go board, she plays with the black.

It starts with a touch across the torso, quick enough Dagger doesn't notice his own smile before his boots lift off the ground. Dum Dum makes easy work of him, lifting him up and over as if he weighed nothing more than a pillow. "Fucker..." He bites through a grin as he flips backward. His body follows the momentum, shoulders hitting the floor almost gently. The moves to this dance are etched into the grooves of his mind, and he rolls through gracefully enough to recover quickly and tackle Dum Dum back to the floor. "You're gonna regret that..." His voice is an enthusiastic whisper, arms wrapping tight around his chrome middle. Dum Dum answers with a laugh. "Fucking prove it."

Yes I'm still on my bullshit.
I'm a lesbian, but even I can acknowledge the raw sex appeal of this man.

Like I hope that this surprise upset drives people to try out Gundam because every series has a lot to offer. They're deep meditations on the horrors of war. They're the main progenitor of the Giant Robot Genre, and they're honestly better at it than anyone else.
Most other giant robot series just have them because woah cool robot, but Gundam has giant robots because well... the fact that they look human is incredibly important.
See, if a tank gets its tread damaged beyond repair like there's tension, but you don't feel bad for the pilot of the tank beyond "welp you're in danger"
When a mobile suit gets shot in the arm or the leg, your brain sees humanoid robot and short circuits to seeing a human get hurt. Some Gundam series like Iron Blooded Orphans and Witch From Mercury even pass that sensory feedback to the pilot so they really *are* feeling like they hurt their real limbs.
The point of Gundam isn't "woah cool robot!" It's about the horrors of war. It's about child soldiers. It's about abusive families. It's about revenge plots that would make Machiavelli blush.

does anyone per-chance have any info on what glyphs did my mans pip carve into his arms?
a reference of exact placement? just a *circled forearm -> goopy goober glyph* perhaps??
we know they are somewhat edited from actual tap-to-activate(tta) glyphs from that 5 second clip of his arm goin goober mode and from the mindscape portrait, with a lotta more empty circles
Tumblr media
i assume this is a way to make them repeatedly castable and not a tta glyph??
i mean there are other glyphs with just circles, like the password for the bone pit(do note this combo was also used by pip)
Tumblr media
but what do they do? and how do they impact the final spell cast?
anyway this is kinda a motivational post to very kindly ask anyone who might know what this mans carved into his arms to share with the class
going frame by frame on the five sec clip is fine and dandy, unfortunatelly aint nobody got time for that, plus it only shows one of his arms and from king's tide we do know that (at least eventually) he carved stuff into his left arm too

As much as I wish I could play bg3, I do love finding out who all of my mutuals are romancing via their progressive posts on the dash instead. It's delightful actually. Living vicariously through people who have the capacity for video games and in the process experiencing all of the romance options in a fraction of the time it takes to do one playthrough.
