the “flower” ones are colorwork and i’m still not very good at it, the dinosaurs were embroidered bc it was easier this way

I'm gonna try a KAL this summer! I had great success with a MAL earlier, and then I saw this one come up for Stardew Summer Socks by Oakwood Knits and immediately knew I had to participate. Unsure if I'll finish them before the KAL is over, especially as I've never done colorwork like this for socks, but I'm gonna get as far along as I can during the official KAL! I'm excited to work on this; Stardew Valley is such a comfort game and these socks are so nicely representative of the season in the game!
(holy moly but this yarn is teeny tiny though)

Joey and Andrew Socks! Made with lovely yarn from my wonderful friends (tysm @vitariesocks and @squidaresquishy) which they sent all the way from Philly as a Christmas gift. I love working with locally dyed yarn, so getting to use some that’s local to someone else was really cool! I really like the way these colours look together - I’ll probably make another stripey set with them both.
Yarn: Loop Sprig - the labels say ‘OOAK’ but neither of them seem to 100% match any of the colourways on the website, so perhaps discontinued or just a unique colourway!
Edit: I've been informed that OOAK stands for one of a kind so yes! Oops 😂

Socks
A Footloose Miscellany for Sock Lovers and Wearers
Wendi Aarons
Illustrated by Kadns Anda
Chronicle Books, San Francisco 2023, 104 pages,13.65 x 21.91 cm, hardcover, ISBN 9781797212760
euro 15,00
Do you wear socks? If so, you'll love this book! Amusing and highly giftable, Socks is an illustrated miscellany all about the most common accessory. Through humorous text and quirky art, discover what different types of socks say about the people who wear them: Striped socks? A bit whimsical. A bit arty. Loves museum gift shops. Dress socks? Proud owner of three pairs of loafers, three Labradors, and three 401(k)s. Socks with bad elastic that really need to be thrown away? This person is not a quitter-unlike these crappy socks. Also included are important things such as musings from the Sock Monkey, a timeline of famous socks throughout history, and postcards from your lost socks. (Where did they go? Will they ever come back?) Packaged in a tall, narrow trim, this book is a perfect add-on gift alongside a nice pair of-you guessed it-socks. And who doesn't love socks?

I did it!
These are the first and third socks of my knitting adventure. I wore the pair to work after blocking and weaving in ends, and they felt great. A little loose compared to store bought socks but I didn't really mind.
The striping lined up nicely considering it was unintentional. Aaaand now all I want to do is knit socks.
It's kind of funny - I crocheted for so many years and rarely made myself anything, but I've been knitting for only a few months and nearly everything I make is for me.

April socks done!
I had to take a week off knitting, and the two weeks around that week I barely knitted, since I have this weird radiating pain from the outside of my shoulders. I still managed to finish these though! And I'm very happy with them. I don't know what yarn this is, as it’s the oldest sock yarn I had in my stash (hence why I chose to knit with it now). Still the same pattern as Februari and March, and the same as May will be (which I just started on! Handdyed yarn!)
Thank you and see you on the next update!
