but what if crocheting in bed, with a twin-full belly in the way 😳
oh you know how to make a boi flustered. i am constantly thinking about what it would be like crocheting with my womb full of someone's baby.
it's a very comfy thought in my head. there are a bunch of pillows and maybe some stuffed animals behind my back to have me propped up since lying on your back pregnant for a long period of time isn't good. plus feeling like a beached whale doesn't sound like a fun time at all in my opinion. i would be surrounded by all my WIPs, yarn, hooks, and a stockpile of snacks to keep me satiated during my crocheting time.
it would be a normal thing for me and the twins to be cuddled up in bed for at least a few hours finishing up a few rows on a project before i need to get up and walk around for exercise or need to use the bathroom. i would be in comfy clothes—the biggest onsie i could find that is still getting too tight around my growing bump and socks to keep my cold feet warm. it would be a spectacle seeing me trying to get up. having to move everything away from my sides so i can haphazardly wiggle myself to the edge of the bed so i can get up and go pee because baby b is on my bladder again.
of course with the bathroom breaks and needing to get more to drink i would have to take baby breaks so i can play around with the twins. i can't ignore them the whole time or else they'll kick and punch the crap out of me. maybe if there was someone cuddled up next to me to keep the two of them occupied while i crochet away it would be an even more perfect thing
Lyra ventured into the enchanted forest today on a very urgent mission.
As the apprentice to the midwife, Lyra sometimes cares for the babies she helps bring into the world. Usually only for a short time, while their parents attend to other matters.
Today she was caring for the daughter of the purple flower fairy. But she underestimated how mischievous fairy babies can be, and looked away for a few minutes. In that short time, the child crawled out the door of the midwife’s house, and into the forest!
Lyra picked up her skirts and ran to follow the baby. She went a short ways in to the forest, looked around, and saw nothing. She felt entirely lost.
Then she heard a small voice shouting her name.
At first, she couldn’t figure out where the noise was coming from.
She looked down and realized that it was Mrs. Hazelnut calling to her! She was gathering seeds from the underbrush with two of her children.
“Are you looking for the baby?” Mrs. Hazelnut asked.
“Yes,” said Lyra. “Did you see her come this way?”
“Not exactly,” Mrs. Hazelnut replied. “But my son did!”
“She was crawling so fast,” said the little chipmunk. “I didn’t see which direction she went.”
“But let me tell you this about babies,” continued Mrs. Hazelnut. “I’ve raised six of them, and I know they love bright colors and interesting new sights. So maybe she went towards something pretty that grows in the forest.”
Lyra knew the woods well. She brought up her mental map of the forest, and all the things that she had gathered from it. Beautiful flowers grew all over; some by the water, some in the shade, and some in the sun. But which flower patch would attract a baby the most?
She had an idea.
Sure enough, the baby was playing in the patch of silverleaf nightshade. It’s a plant that’s poisonous to humans, but not to fairies. Especially not to purple flower fairies, who use it in their wreaths and crowns!
The midwife had told Lyra that fairy children are very precocious compared to human babies, learning to crawl, walk, talk, and fly long before their first birthdays. But Lyra had never had any experience with human babies before she had left her lonely life as a princess, imprisoned in an isolated tower far from anywhere else.
She had a lot to learn still about being a midwife for fairies and elves!

BFF Jenna has a hand sewn dress and leggings. These were to test out the patterns I drafted based on her measurements, and I'm pretty pleased. I think it needs a yellow jacket to tie it all together, but I haven't made it yet. She has a fun color palette to work with, having rainbow hair. So cute!
Hello! Recently I have made some gifts for my mum’s friend who is expecting a baby. Following YouTube tutorials, I have made her a pair of pink shoes and a lilac cardigan! I’m really pleased with how they look.
The shoes have been made following a pattern suited for a 3-6 month old, and the cardigan was made to suit a 6-12 month old. Though I followed the pattern, I do feel like the sleeves of the cardigan look really big.
^ Above is a picture of the cardigan and shoes together. Proud of how they have turned out!

I would love to make some more baby clothing items following these patterns again. I will also be finishing the waistcoat for my gran this summer, so I will post some more pictures of that soon! :)
