I recently had a first attempt at a balm made from spare mint herbs I might otherwise have thrown out. Voila - family friendly mint lip balm, made of mint, oil, beeswax and cocoa butter. ⠀ ⠀ How to: First, I made a mint oil infusion from mint leaves. I mixed supermarket mint leaves with 1/2 cup sunflower oil together in a jar, and then placed the jar in a bowl of water in the oven. I heated the oven to 200deg then switched it off/ left it for 4 hours to infuse. Later I melted 8mg beeswax and 12mg melted cocoa butter in a pan, then added 2x tablespoons of the infused oil before pouring it all into a tin container and leaving to cool.⠀ ⠀ More: V nice texture - it’s got a mild green colour and mild mint flavour & nice and cooling but I might try and add a little peppermint essential oil next time for more punch. I wanted to see how it turned out totally naturally ...unless I needed to infuse the mint for longer in the oil?
