Drawing a new split Pokemon evolution every day in July -- Day Twenty
Souleon
Flying
Evolves from Eevee when leveled up at the top of a mountain:
Mt. Moon, Kanto
Mt. Silver, Johto
Mt. Pyre, Hoenn
Mount Coronet Summit, Sinnoh
Twist Mountain, Unova
Route 9, Kalos
Mount Hokulani, Alola
Giant's Bed, Crown Tundra
Glaseado Mountain, Paldea
The gemstone on their collar contains all of the knowledge they have learned throughout their life. It's said that stealing this gem will bestow that knowledge onto whoever swallows it, but this has been shown to be merely a myth. If they find a trainer they've grown attached to, they will then share some of their knowledge. They can most commonly be found at the tops of mountains, staring directly up into the sky. On nights of the full moon, hundreds of Souleon can be seen gazing intently into the stars.

Kieran, Hydrapple and the elusive TM Dragon Cheer
I saw the Hydrapple through Twitter spoilers so I had to google how to get one. As far as I can tell, you can only get Dragon Cheer through Drayton. So it seems like Drayton gave one to Kieran and immediately regretted it.

Sanderstober 2022
Upon request (and because you're all amazing at them), I have a NEW Sanderstober art prompt list for you this year! Feel free to do one, some, or all of these prompts for October! Take em in any order you feel & use the hashtag #Sanderstober2022 if you’d like me to see your creations! Hope you all have fun with these if you take em on!! 🎨
Day 1: Starting out with a traditional classic, take a character from media or OC and draw how they look on September 30th vs. how they look on October 1st.
Day 2: Time to shine the light on the articles of clothing we all love to bust out in the fall, by CHOOSING one of those items and making a monster based on it!
Day 3: It is announced, beyond all reason, that they’re going to add a NEW suit to the deck of cards, in addition to hearts, clubs, diamonds, and spades. Disregarding how much this would destroy the structure of most card games, what is this new suit called and what does it look like??
Day 4: Centaurs are half-man, half-horse. Draw another kind of fantastical creature, that’s half-man, half ANOTHER kind of animal! - Idea from Dominic!
Day 5: Take a typical children’s nursery rhyme… and create a thriller poster based off of it…
Day 6: Design Challenge - create a stylish look (clothes, makeup, whatever you like) based off a candy of your choice!
Day 7: There’s a Pokemon based off almost everything. But not everything. Take a random object, animal, etc. that a Pokemon hasn’t been based off yet… and create one, complete with a corresponding name!
Day 8: Take any piece of Western animation and re-imagine it in anime form. - Inspired by an idea from Dominic!
Day 9: Take any traditional Halloween monster and think about what TikTok challenge they probably would take on. Doesn’t even have to be a real one!
Day 10: A dabbling in minimalism. Take one or several characters from one of your favorite pieces of media, and try to depict them using only simplistic shapes. See if you can get people to guess the characters or show/movie/video game from the shapes and color schemes.
Day 11: Always a fave prompt of mine - depict a pleasant fall-related memory of yours using solely fall-related colors (red, orange, yellow, brown, etc.)
Day 12: What if Halloween took place at another time of the year than Fall?? How might the holiday look different? Are there any traditions that might change? Any imagery? Any houses decorated differently??? Depict any aspect of the holiday that may look different!
Day 13: Another fave of mine - Take ANY Disney character and depict what they might look like as a superpowered individual in the Marvel universe.
Day 14: It happened again. This time, they announced a NEW chess piece that would be added to the game of chess. Why are they doing this?? Once again, disregarding how much of a wrench this throws into the gameplay of chess, WHAT does this new piece look like? What is it called? And how does it move on the board?
Day 15: Re-imagine any Halloween monster or thriller movie baddie… as a character in a fantasy world…
Day 16: Using just inspiration from items found in your kitchen, use them to create a flag for a new country - Idea from Tammy!
Day 17: Draw a dynamic duo in a dynamic couples costume (Jessie & James from Pokémon as the front and back half of a horse, etc) - Idea from Cambria!
Day 18: My first prompt where I can take Inspo from Our Flag Means Death! Take any character from pop culture who isn’t a pirate… and design what they might look like in a pirate universe. Basically… pirate-ify them.
Day 19: Taking inspiration from the Haunted Mansion paintings, where the top of the painting looks pleasant only to then pan down to show the situation is much more grim (give it a Google if you need a reference!), create your own version of one of those paintings! - Another idea from Cambria
Day 20: The return of a classic… take any character(s) from a piece of media and depict them in the style of a Tim Burton character. (Sorry, I just love what you all create with this prompt!)
Day 21: Take any social media app… and turn it into a person.
Day 22: Take any Halloween-esque or Fall-based item/imagery and depict it in the iconic style of a famous painter!
Day 23: Oh my god, they’re doing it again!! Out of the blue, Hasbro announces that Clue will now be adding a NEW guest to the game of Clue who will be joining all the other color-based guests. Why does this keep happening?? Please create this guest and what their colorful name shall be!
Day 24: Take a loved pet from any point in your life, and turn them into a MONSTER.
Day 25: Take one of the characters from our videos (or a character from another piece of your fave media if you prefer!) and draw them with an animal that you think matches them perfectly! - Idea from Cambria!
Day 26: I’m such a sucker for this prompt: Depict characters from one of your fave animated shows in the STYLE of another animated series
Day 27: Since this would probably make Remus happy… if it makes you comfortable, draw a nightmare you remember having in your life, and instead of it happening to you, depict it happening to Remus
Day 28: Since we did the opposite prompt earlier… take a superhero and depict who they’d be in any fairytale you think suits them…
Day 29: Take any Halloween/ Scary movie monster and draw a suit/dress/suitdress inspired by their style and color palette!
Day 30: At long last, it’s revealed, the reason behind ALL THESE ADDITIONS to traditional games (the fifth card suit, the new chess piece, the additional Clue guest) was ONE NEW EVIL MASTERMIND! Based on your past creations for Day 3, Day 14, and Day 23, draw what this mastermind looks like and give them a name!!!
Day 31: In typical end-of-the-month fashion, today’s prompt is all about celebrating the reason for the season, Halloween! This year, Halloween’s PR team wants you to come up with a new catchphrase/slogan for Halloween! Please create a Halloween sign/poster with the new phrase featured!! HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!

When I saw this video drop in my recommended, I knew it was going to disappoint me as someone who has done personal nuzlocke runs before, used to be an active member of the forums, and even still is friends with people from there. And I was right. Look under the read more for my gripes.
To start off, he makes a rather big mistake by stating that the original Ruby Hard Mode run ended in a win, when it definitely did not, and was the basis for the Ruby character going to Kanto to start the FireRed Hard Mode run. That one isn’t one I think is too bad compared to the others, but it’s still something you could easily research on your own.
He’s also a little wrong about ShiroInu being the earliest person to post a nuzlocke comic on the forums, but I can also forgive him for that. In general, he spends only a small portion of the video on the Nuzlocke Forums before branching out to videos, and I feel that was a misstep. For one, he completely glossed over screenshot runs, which were just as important as comics and written logs in the formation of Nuzlocking’s early years. A lot of people at the time couldn’t afford recording set ups for let’s plays, and screenshotting on VBA was as easy as pie, making Nuzlockes accessible to most people especially those that didn’t want to draw.
I also think it’s a bit peculiar that Kynim wasn’t mentioned at all, when he discussed Nuzlocke comics. Myths of Unova is probably the most popular Nuzlocke comic outside of the original, especially so for one with actual effort put into the art and narrative. We can go on all day and week about other popular comics too like Petty Nuzlocke Challenge, It’s A Hard Life, FireRed Kick-Ass Mode, Double Nuzlocke Series, etc. That not much time is dedicated to the narrative aspect of Nuzlocking in favor of the more technical and challenge-oriented ones is such a shame especially since a lot of history was made on the now-defunct Smackjeeves website. Like, in the video, fucking Emerald Kaizo got its own section while the forums, comics, etc. don’t even get that much respect. Towards the end of that video it was basically summarizing specific Nuzlocke runs from popular YouTubers/streamers, rather than an overall look.
Moving onto recorded Nuzlockes, it’s really baffling that Marriland wasn’t given an explicit shout out. While he wasn’t one of the first to do a recorded Nuzlocke on YouTube (October 27, 2012), he was one of the first people to upload Let’s Play content on YouTube period, and he was also one of the important figures in Nuzlocking since he invented the Wedlocke challenge. Granted, the Wedlocke was mentioned briefly in a list of variants and his videos were shown in a screenshot of Google, but that’s not enough respect I feel.
Also, I think it’s funny that PokemonChallenges is attributed as the founder of the Hardcore Nuzlocke, that is, a Nuzlocke with the added rules of “no item use in battle” and “no overlevelling against important trainers’ strongest Pokemon.” The video claims Jan invented that in 2016 for his streams, when in fact, people have been using those extra rules well before he did. I also want to note that I don’t really blame Wolfey for this misinformation, since he said in the video that the research was primarily done by pChal and some guy named Drew, which, yeah, makes sense with how biased it is.
Tumblr media
No disrespect to Jaiden, even if I don’t find her content entertaining, but I feel she got a lot of undeserved credit in this video too. Like, obviously the thumbnail having her in the “Then” portion is just clickbait, but to go on in the video and say that “the way that [original Nuzlocke comic creator] and Jaiden share their nuzlockes might be what caused Nuzlocking to take off” is plain wrong in the case of the latter. Like, yes, Jaiden’s 87mil+ video definitely brought it out of the general Pokemon fandom, so that people like Alpharad and Ludwig started doing them, but Nuzlocking took off well before she made the video. In fact, Griffin McElroy made a rather popular Nuzlocke video back in 2016 on Polygon’s YouTube channel.
The video also misattributes certain tricks and strategies to that Drew guy’s Renegade Platinum run, saying that it would “define the meta.” Stuff like the repel trick to manipulate encounters, which is not true at all, since the repel trick has been documented on Bulbapedia since 2010, well before that ROM hack.
Overall, I don’t want to gatekeep the Nuzlocke from anyone, but it’s just sad how it has primarily evolved to just adding on challenge after challenge and treating your Pokemon as pawns (i.e. sending them out to die), as well as optimizing the gameplay to reduce the amount of failure such as by hacking in rare candies to save time grinding (when that basically cheeses the periods between important fights and removes the possibility of something bad happening during grinding), and manipulating encounters (esp. in newer games without grass) to your biggest benefit. If you want to play it that way, that’s fine. The storytelling part of Nuzlocking was such a huge boon in how the challenge got popularized, also the concepts of using Pokemon and strategies you’d have never thought to have try before, so it’s disappointing that it gets overlooked especially in a retrospective like this.

What is funger << could easily Google but want friend to tell me about it instead
Funger is short for Fear and Hunger, the first installment in the Fear and Hunger video game series. Its an awesome game that combines a jrpg play style with roguelike elements where each room of the dungeon, and the items found inside, generate randomly with each play through.
It's a one person endeavour created by a Finnish dude called Miro/orange, and it's a love letter to the horror game genre. It feels like a mix of Soulsbourne, Binding of Isaac, Silent Hill, and Pokemon vibes to me.
Basically you start out as one of four characters/classes: D'acre, the knight, Cahara the mercenary, Enki the dark priest or Ragnvaldr the outlander, and your quest is to enter the terrifying and mythical dungeons of Fear and Hunger in search of the leader of a mercenary army named Legard, who has been captured and imprisoned there.
The kicker of the game is that you only have 30 minutes to find him from when you first start the game. After that even if you find his prison he'll be dead, but you can still keep exploring the fucked up dungeons. There is SO MUCH to explore in the dungeons and truthfully I think it would take at least a few days of play time to actually find Legarde in under 30 mins.
Oh right, the other kicker of the game is that everything kills you. Like everything everything. At the start of the game you're way too weak to fight anything on your own, so it's more a survival horror game of trying to hide and outrun enemies while rooting through barrels and crates for items that coukd potentially be helpful. You have to keep track of your hunger bar by eating and drinking water, your body bar takes a hit whenever you get hurt (even from stuff like stepping on a rusty nail that can cause an infection that slowly drains health), and your mind meter is constantly dropping and needs to be sustained with whatever substances you can find, from wine to opium.
It's also not shy about sex and violence. You can lose limbs, which affects your ability to wield weapons, you can chop them off to prevent infection, you can use found limbs as weapons. There are several gods and their cults in the game and receiving their blessings can help you tremendously, but their rituals involve things like orgies, human sacrifice, and cannibalism. The game has a wonderfully bleak and beautiful artsyle, where the environments are decorated with torture devices, corpses and skeletons in various stages of decay or mutation, strange plants, tons of other shit that I don't want to spoil.
Fear and Hunger also has this incredible/awful mechanic where your whole game can evaporate on a literal coin toss. Certain enemy moves or rituals, or even saving the fucking game, require a coin toss where you literally lose everything if you fail it, and the death scenes are... pretty graphic. My first death involved character being chained to a torture table and having my limbs and genitals cut off one by one by the torture master on the second floor. I picked the wrong conversation option.
Every choice you can make in the game could go in any way. You never know who to trust, which way to go, or if the floor is going to collapse under you. This game makes you fucking insane, it's bleak and horrible but somehow it's so charming and beautiful at the same time. It punishes you SO HARD for your fuck ups, but getting it right is SO REWARDING. The dungeons seem endless with so much to explore, so many interesting enemies and such intricate lore and world building. It's a LOT and it's definitely not for everyone, but if you're the kind of person who likes a challenge as well as a fair amount of horror and storytelling in your games, you will LOVE it.
I haven't played the sequal, Fear and Hunger: Termina because even though I've been playing the first game for months I'm still not finished haha. Apparently Termina is even BIGGER with more characters and backstory and laakhsgdhsjahgshddjd. I'm trying to pace myself hahaha.
I got it pretty cheap on steam and I'm pretty sure it's only available on PC. The controls are so simple you could play it on an old SNES controller, which I'm a big fan of cos I am not the kind of gamer who has the patience to learn complicated multi button moves and shit. 4 direction keys, yes and no, straight into the game. The combat is turn-based which I enjoyed a lot because once you have a few other party members you can strategise your way through most fights.
It's definitely the kind of game where I've found myself keeping the wiki page open in the background because the game explains NOTHING to you and you have to figure everything out step by step. It makes you work for every tiny morsel of progress or story it feeds you. It pavlovs you into having visceral reactions to small sounds. It's a horrifying masterpiece and one of the most beautiful pieces of art I've ever experienced. I might have already been driven insane by it though.
So yeah, that's my current obsession in a nutshell. Thanks for coming to my ted talk :3

please i have to know which pokemon you think zoro would have?!!! and if you have hc! bc i literally think about this way too much and have a big google slides worth of info bc i gave all of zoro/luffy/sanjis pokemon lore
I AM THRILLED THAT YOU ASKED THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU, and in return I’m challenging YOU into telling me all of YOUR Pokemon AU HC, too.
I have Pokemon teams for practically all the Strawhats (+Vivi) written down on my notes app, but not all of them have lore skjfks most of them are just what I considered to be ‘on brand’. INCLUDING for Zoro’s, who I once drew here with his Ceruledge and his Honedge that will someday grow into Aegislash. For these two, I had the idea that Ceruledge was originally Kuina’s Charcadet that Zoro adopted, along with the Wado Ichimonji, after she passed. Ceruledge’s Scarlet dex entry reads “The fiery blades on its arms burn fiercely with the lingering resentment of a sword wielder who fell before accomplishing their goal” which made me feel like it and Zoro could truly bond about this their shared loss. Honedge, on the other hand, is the first Pokemon I imagine Zoro actually catching because….. it’s a living sword. How could he not do anything in his power to catch it? It, too, would eventually fall in love with Zoro’s ambitious, and together with Ceruledge would develop the cute habit of trying to imitate their trainer’s santoryuu by having Honedge place itself in front of Ceruledge’s mouth every battle- incidentally making it so Zoro only fights in doubles. I also have him written down as having a Scyther (probably his second catch after Honedge), Weavile, Garchomp, and Kinggambit (which he impresses and catches last, in Wano).
I’m already rambling about this jshdjs you got me all excited aaah. I’m just gonna quickly list off some Pokemon partners and my reasoning then: starting with Sanji’s Slowking (which has its relation to royalty, obviously, but is actually my pick because Slowpoke’s tails are shown to be edible in many games, the dex says that they just pop off painlessly and regrow over time. So for Sanji, he’s be like a food dispenser in the form of a friend), and Brook’s Obstagoon, Toxtricity and Skeledirge (which he calls his ‘band’. I imagine he catches them all on Thriller Bark shortly after being rescued and informally invited to join the crew) and Usopp’s Volcarona (he caught her while alone on Water 7, and in Enies Lobby she proved to be nearly unstoppable. He later had to claim that he inherited her from Sogeking) and Nami’s Absol, (captured in Jaya, and who’s ability to predict and call over natural disasters and weather phenomena has only ever been tamed by Nami. Most of the pokemon I gave her are cat-like, so I let her have one (1) dog in Absol and one (1) mouse in Raichu)

What Digimon Partners would Persona Characters have?
Tumblr media
((Hee ho dood, Prinnyfrost reporting for duty! Happy Digimon Day everyone! Gonna be honest with you, I just found out about an hour ago that it's Digimon Day thanks to a Google notification, but that doesn't mean I can't celebrate by pulling something out of my butt. And fortunately, I have 2 ideas of how to go about it. One of which is that I'm going to continue playing Digimon World 1 and see how much further I can get. I doubt I'll be able to beat it today, but who knows. But before I do, let's give out some more Digimon to characters from another franchise. This one being the Persona series.
Tumblr media
Honestly, considering how similar the Cyber Sleuth games are to the modern Persona games and the fact that people who worked for Shin Megami Tensei are helping with the more recent Digimon games, part of me feels that I probably should have done this first instead of Disgaea. Honestly, it wouldn't surprise me if someone would argue that Persona should have a crossover with Digimon more than any other franchise aside from Jojo's Bizzare adventure, yeah even more than Pokemon and Kingdom Hearts. That being said, I am going over characters I feel like would be a good match up across the series instead of sticking to one title at a time. I am going to try to keep repeated digivolution lines to a minimum as usual. And of course if you agree/disagree with me or just have ideas for pairs of your own, feel free to let me know. Now with that out of the way, let's begin.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I think one of the pairs that a lot of fans would agree with is Joker from Persona 5 getting an Impmon with the ability to warp Digivolve into Beelzemon at some point then get Blast Mode later on. It just fits considering how rebellious they are and they're gunslingers. Also, I can't be the only one thinking about these two challenging Makoto to a motorcycle race. It's also interesting to note that Beelzemon represents one of the Seven Deadly Sins, though granted I think he and Leviamon should switch the sins they represent.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
2. Sticking with Persona 5, we have Futaba Sakura and call me crazy, but I'm giving her a wormmon. Those who are only familiar with the Adventure 2 anime might be questioning my decision, but anyone who finished Cyber Sleuth: Hacker's Memory might have figured out what I'm going for here. Yeah, they're getting the Hudiemon line. I can already imagine Wormmon actually being the last gift Futaba got from her mother and Hudiemon being like some temporary fusion between the two when their bond becomes strong enough, almost like spirit evolution in a way.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
3. Now we dive into the original Persona with it's main character, Naoya Toudou. Now the interesting part about Naoya is that you can give him pretty much any Digimon and it'll work because in my opinion, out of all the main characters in the series, Naoya is the most representative of the player considering he doesn't really have a set personality outside of the manga (Tatsuya is a bad boy that's nice when you get to know him, Minato is emo who's good natured, but rarely smiles, Hamuko is the opposite as she's rarely seen without a smile, Yu is a playboy who knows when to get serious, and Akira usually quiet, but confident and likes to play around) and the events of what he does post game is purely determined by whatever the player decides, which is further helped by the fact that in Persona 2, he ends up leaving his friends to do who knows what and doesn't come back to them until the end of the game for a reunion. What we DO know about him thanks to his shadow is that he's a gamer, so I'm giving him a toy agumon to start with, but the digivolution line can go in any direction.

4. Jumping from Persona 1 to 3 is one of my favorite characters, Yukari Takeba. And yeah, I'm giving her a Biyomon. She is kind of similar to Sora in a way given her sass and I can totally see Biyomon trying to help Yukari relax every time she's annoyed, especially if it's Junpei related, but what really helps is the fact that she's a wind user. I am going to give them the main line but with 2 changes. Instead of Birdramon and Phoenixmon as the champion and mega forms, I'm giving them Aquilamon and AncientKazemon to stick with the wind theme.

5. I feel like Elecmon would be a decent fit for Kanji Tatsumi. Not only are the both electric users, but given how Elecmon are known for looking after the Digi-eggs in the Digital World, you could argue that Elecmon would try to encourage Kanji to not be afraid of showing off his more compassionate and creative side. It's okay to break bones if you have to but remember that it doesn't solve every issue. Instead of the main line, I'll have Thundermon the champion stage, Sinduramon the ultimate stage, and Boltmon the mega.

6. I want to make sure I cover at least one character of each of the games before I end things off, so let's step back to Persona 2 for everyone's favorite "Big Sis" Maya Amano. Now it has been a while since I played, but I recall Maya being rather energetic considering her position as a reporter for a magazine and using such catchphrases as "think positive" and "grab your asses and run". This along with her main persona being an ice type makes me a bit confidant to give her Jellymon with its main Digivolution line as Jellymon prefer peace but won't hesitate to scrap the moment it senses danger and does what it can to protect the innocent. Not only that, but its mega form, Amphimon, has the ability to banish evil Digimon to the Net Ocean, kind of like how Maya's Omni Dimension is an instant kill move in the game. That being said, I can hear arguments for Lunamon as well as Tatsuya getting Coronamon because duh, sun and moon.

7. I don't think I need to explain why Yusuke would be getting a Renamon. Considering Yusuke's patience, passion for art, and him literally having the codename: fox, Renamon and its main Digivolution line is downright perfect for Yusuke. This includes Sakuyamon's Maiden Mode as it could remind Yusuke of his dearly departed mother. What I would give to see Yusuke and Taomon spend a day off simply drawing each other.

8. Might as well give a Digimon to at least one of the members of the Velvet Room. Honestly, I was not expecting Marie to be my first pick to mention here, but when I looked up Morphomon and its main evolution line, I felt these two would go well together. Morphomon is a carefree Digimon that enjoys nature and often touches anyone and anything new to determine whether or not they're safe to be around. Marie would definitely relate to that given how often she complains about being cooped up in the Velvet Room without much to do and how much she enjoys exploring Inaba with Yu. As for its main digivolution lines, which is just different stages of Eosmon, it's an artificially created Digimon that becomes more and more unstable overtime and has the power to create illusions via mirrors, which fits in pretty well with the theme of Persona 4 since you do end up fighting Marie in the game at some point (as long as requirements are met).

9. Considering that today is Digimon Day, it probably wouldn't sit right with me if I didn't give Agumon with his main digivolution line to at least one character before I end the post and I want it to be someone from the first Persona title as well. I already paired Naoya with Toy Agumon so I guess the best bet would be Masao Inaba. This is mainly due to Mark having the chariot arcana, which represents one's courage and the fact that he butt heads often with Kei Nanjo who I can see having a Gabumon.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
10. On the other hand, I can totally see Junpei Iori chillin' with a Veemon. It's pretty much the same reasons as to why I gave a Veemon to Jaden from Yugioh in one of my previous posts, but unlike Jaden, I see Junpei just sticking with the Veedramon line because of how much he wants to become the "hero of the story". I can hear arguments for the Ex-Veemon line though, especially if we give the Stingmon line to Chidori.
And that should cover it at least for now. I might do a part 2 later on. Let me know if you wish to see that. Thanks for reading and let me know your thoughts.))

Happy STS! If your OCs had social media account, what would they have and what kind of things would they post?
a;slkskdsdgjs OMG thank you so much for this fun STS ask! My first answer is canon! I'll stick the theoreticals under the cut. I tried to answer this straightforwardly but this is what came out.
Penn (head of Cleanup who makes sure the world at large doesn't discover SolCorp exists): Sees report come into his inbox. "Ohmygod." dials with a sigh. "Morning, Marek." "Penne Pasta!" "Marek, I know you are aware that it is against company regulations to have social media accounts, including Instagram." "It's not my Instagram account." Head in hand. "Your hamster can't have an Instagram account either. We've gone over this." "So if Baguette is subject to company regs, are you going on the record that she's a Sol agent?" "Marek." "I'm putting her on payroll. She's entitled company-provided quarters." "Her cage is already bigger than some Manhattan apartments." "Are you head of housing or am I?" "Delete the account."
~later~
Penn answering phone: "This is Penn." Marek on the other line: "Pentagon! Hey, did you guys crash Twitter again?" "No, that wasn't Cleanup. It's just that their owner is a Wish.com Thomas Edison except even more evil who--Marek, why do you know Twitter is down?" "…" "Marek." "Porn?" hangs up Penn furiously Googles baguette+hamster site:twitter.com
Hannah would have a TikTok in 10 seconds flat. It would be UNHINGED. Pure Vine energy. Alex would also be on TikTok doing all the dance challenges.
Reeve would have accounts on Reddit and Facebook (because he's an old at heart) to join classic car groups/subreddits, realize he doesn't understand anything being said, and very quickly turn into a lurker/reverse David Attenborough while he tries to observe what normal people are like.
Gareth would be on Tinder looking for hookups.
Darwin would FOR SURE have a Tumblr for fandom stuff. (That boy loves his Pokemon.)

Pokemon Nuzlocke
So, because I hate myself and my mental health, I've decided to do a Pokemon Scarlet Nuzlocke, but my rules.
I have to google a list of pokemon in a certain area, assign them a number, then use a number generator to see what I get. The pokemon also needs to a marked female, marked to make it harder, female because ~Women~. I am aloud to use my starter, but I made sure to have her as a girl. I can catch a shiny, but unless it's a girl, I can't use it, and I can't use titan pokemon, that makes it too easy.
I will be documenting my journey on Tumblr, partly so I finally finish a nuzlocke, secondly because it just sounds fun to do.
I will also be using elements of my own background for her that will slowly be revealed, like some Poketubers who do it to spice up their runs.
And without further a due, my journey begins.
-------Day one, 1/23/2024-------
I get up from reading a book and head down stairs, my chaperone's Skwovet nagging me to move faster. I get to the kitchen, listen to info about the school my parents enrolled me in, let the director in so he can have a chat with her about my dorm situation, and grab my bag and hat to head outside. There I meet my special little starter Sprigatito, who I named Spider Lily, which is my favorite flower. (It's beautiful, and I want some, but it's poisonous like most lilies T-T) I also met Nemona and become her friend, because I don't know how to make friends, and she's loud and weird, so I feel like we'll get along.
I then two hit K.O. her duck before heading over to Poco Path. I didn't catch the Lechonk, for it was male and likely unmarked. Instead, I rolled for a ..... Yungoose. I hate Yungoose, and it's a rare spawn, so I rerolled so the intro doesn't last longer than the original HOUR AND THIRTY. So with a reroll, I got Tarountula. I caught one with the unsure mark on my first try (So my time thing was a good idea) and named her Crochet. Sadly, she's pretty weak, so leveling her up just resulted in A LOT of visit heals with Nemona... Still alive, but she gave me a couple panic attacks.
After having her kill her own kind and a bunch of pigs, I head towards the light house, but slip and fall off the cliff because I'm a clutz. My phone stops my fall, making my hands ache in the process, and see a giant red feathered lizard being harassed by a bunch of mean fire puppies, which were then scared off with a big roar bEcAusE iT's a BiG sCaRy LizaRd-
I gave it a sandwich my chaperone gave me -sorry Debby- to make it feel better and watch it power up and head into the cave. After trecking through, reassuring Nemona we're not dead, and running from Houndoom, we get outside and head for the light house. We meet Arven and I IMMEDEATLY want to be his friend, because look at him! He's cool! He then challenges me to see if I deserve Koraidon, who I will be calling Dr. Pepper.
I three shot his Skwovet quickly, earning Dr.Pepper's pokeball easily. He runs off and Nemona and I climb the lighthouse to look at the scenery. Seeing it makes me grateful my parents decided to send me here of all places, it's absolutely beautiful! We head over to South Province Area One, which means I can get a new pokemon! I roll for encounter and I get.... Magicarp!
I head to the water and start fishing to get a marked girly, after catching 16 Magicarp I caught one with the Thorny Mark and named her Kitty and finally went to Los Platos, healed up, and got some more pokeballs. After leveling Crochet a little more I went to the South Entrance of Messagoza Nemona chalanges me to a battle and I wipe the floor with her using Spider Lily. And with that, I enter Messagoza, ending day one of my adventure. Thank you for reading, I shall post again tomorrow.

What made you start writing fanfic?
MS QUESERAONE
These asks do not always appear on my phone, and it sometimes takes me loading coal into the engine of my laptop and then navigating to tumblr dot com to find them...
I started writing (terrible) fic as a teenager back in my Stargate SG-1 days, because I fell in love with Sam and Jack, and had only recently discovered that you were allowed to imagine scenarios in your head and not just say your prayers when you went to bed at night. (I also had a brief Pokemon phase, but I’m not gonna even bold that one.) That fic all disappeared in a Blue Screen of Death home PC crash back in the day, and I gave up on investing effort into digital files until I had a more reliable backup plan. Despite that, I recently discovered (and discarded, with love) pages of A4 notes I wrote in secondary school that were actually just Harry/Hermione or Sam/Jack fic starters. Love the dedication - in fountain pen, no less! - from teenage me!
After college, cue LiveJournal! And Fringe! And community fic prompts! I loved it so much. I definitely wrote 3 solid fics for Peter and Olivia back then, but I was very at sea in real life, and I didn't keep it up. I uploaded them to AO3 in recent years, and I’m glad they’ve been saved for posterity. That show was very important to me too.
After LiveJournal died/sold out to the Russians, I gave up once again, and didn't even really read fic in any of my following fandoms. But then came The Pandemic, and Lockdowns, and lots and lots of time to rewatch my favourite shows, and my brain decided to fixate on The Rookie and Lucy and Tim. I am not sorry. I was struck with the disease and forced to stay at home and go on my little mental health 2.5km walk loops, and my mind started to suggest that I could write fic again. That I'd done it before. That the brain pictures could meld into a story, and that fic archiving (with the advent of AO3) was a lot more reliable.
So, a few lockdowns later, along came "In the Hole Together", a spec-fic for 422 that was founded on fan-detectivery and paracetamol. And when people actually got interested, I thought this was something I might be able to do.
AND THEN THERE WAS ACTUAL 422.
And "Roots Won't Keep Me Warm" was born.
I've never ever written something so long, so detailed and so intense, and it became a personal challenge as much as a dedication to the readers that were following along. The only two rules I've set for myself since then are 1) Don't try to use song lyrics as titles anymore, Sil, and 2) Always finish a multi-chap.
The way my brain operates, I can only work on one fic at a time, so I never have written WIPs hanging around (though I have many, many head-plots, and some of them are even stored as bullet points in a google doc...). I hope that the one thing I will always do is finish out a fic to its conclusion, as it is absolutely an undertaking I most appreciate in the authors I love.
I had some extra time this (northern) summer (personal reasons) to devote to ChenfordWeek and finish my second Big Long Fic ("Shadows of Deception"), but it hasn't been sustainable since then, and it makes me very, very sad. I have been so harassed and harangued with real life, that I could barely even Do Imaginations for Chenford, and - to be frank - that has been critically depressing. It always has for me, since the days of SG-1.
I love writing fic, and I hope never to turn it into a job rather than a hobby, because that has never worked out well for me in the past. That said, I have you, Ms @queseraone, to thank for getting me to sit down and face the music this Christmas/Winter/Holiday season, and actually write some new Chenford content. And it is h a r d. It is hard to do the thinking and the linking and the typing. It is hard to find the time and the will and the motivation. It is hard to have a plan and then another plan and then discard it all when you actually sit down to type. But I am really happy to be doing it. I really am.
And I can’t wait for @chenfordsecretsanta to arrive, and to share in the joy of a whole batch of new fics in our little fandom! To have something to look forward to that is closer than February 20th. To have someone believe in me enough to persist in prodding and poking me into committing to this challenge.
So thank you. Thank you, and I love you, and I appreciate you.
