its time for the yearly 12th perigee present post (yeah i know its still christmas eve in other timezones im Impatient)
nancor gifted gliese some sunflowers in a cool gothic-style vase since he thought she'd appreciate the contrast, as well as some dark chocolate
dismas gifted maidel a really rare and difficult to find video game that she mentioned wanting to play once. he may have also blackmailed everyone who tried to bid on it on the online auction website he found it on to ensure that he was able to get it at a good price
callan gifted gerrel those clawed gardening gloves because he thought they were funny and also useful (and the pair he bought are in his shade of green, the most fashionable colour out there of course), and some seed packets so he can grow all the veggies he needs to put on a pizza. which callan totally doesn't want to taste test
ashell gifted cheran a couple books, as well as a set of inks and brushes that he thought cheran could use for his anatomical sketches (which he bought from jikiro's company lmao). he gifted jikiro a little hamper filled with different types of berries and some fancy glass jars because he read that they can be used to make ink as well as be eaten, as well as a box of chocolate truffles and a cute tanuki print stationery set because he got anxious that his initial gift idea wasn't good enough lmao
velour made jamie a couple button-up shirts, one covered in subtle star patterns that show off different constellations, and another that has an embroidered kookaburra peeking out of the shirt pocket. he also made a couple bow ties as well, which he says when he's feeling better he'll enchant so the fabric is a bit more interesting. he also made socks and gloves for jikiro and kana, ji's pair being black with classy striped accents in all his quadrant's colours, while kana's pair are patterned to look like tanuki paws
mikiel was a bit unoriginal and gifted both lyvere and thrixe cookbooks, but he did make sure to buy them books based on whatever cuisine they're currently most interested in
lusien gifted anirus a really nice and expensive bottle of scotch (the kind that you only want to drink on special occasions) as well as a fresh batch of homemade jams and preserved foods they can keep on their ship without worrying about them spoiling too quickly
sharle gifted jamie books on how to speak italian, french, and monegasque (remarking that it took him hours to find the last one) since he knows that jamie was trying to learn those languages. he also gifted tira a limited edition snapback (because he collects them), gave quinne a fishing rod (because she mentioned that she likes catching fish but didn't own a rod), and ropikk a bottle of very expensive perfume (because he googled 'gifts for women')
viltau gifted jikiro some custom-tailored silk pyjamas decorated with a regal japanese maple design, a matching silk robe, and would treat him to a candlelit dinner... provided that ji can solve the scavenger hunt vil has prepared for him first. kitaer also gets send on a scavenger hunt, but his reward is the bodies belonging to the perpetrators of a crime kitaer was trying to solve. and also a traditional 12th perigee pudding and some homemade mince pies, because he is capable of catering to his kismesis' lack of a sweet tooth sometimes. viltau's employees also got a big bonus of extra cash and some gift cards
glasya gifted mikail another new plant for his apartment, and will take him out on a trip to the beach so they can go look at the rock pools together and then get a nice dinner at a beachfront restaurant. they also made bags of candies for all their friends using thematically appropriate candy moulds
vallis gifted epsilo a life-sized moray eel plushie, while zanzul and tuuya were gifted starfish and sea snail plushies respectively
linnae went out and picked some pretty wildflowers and ingredients to make potions with for arctus, and also gave a couple wildflowers to his other friends as well
everyone else also gave gifts to their quadrants / close friends but i couldn't think of something specific because i'm braindead. imagine a really cool gift here for every ship (romantic or platonic) i missed

Physical Stores you can Buy Gothic Goods in, by Morticia Fattyms
Tumblr media
Okay you Spooks,
Let me just state that you should always wear what feels comfortable *on you* and looks good *to you*. To be Goth isn't the clothes you wear, strictly speaking, and there isn't a Defined Look. Have FUN with yourself! If you think you look good and you feel good like that, that's all that matters.
Gothic Aesthetic and Fashion is colloquially referred to as "Goth" all of the time. Goth is a term used to describe some songs, and has many musical genres that find their audience under the name of "goths". Anyone with Google-Fu understands that sometimes the simplest tag is the most effective for reaching a larger audience. To keep our wonderful community of Artists and Creators thriving, growing, and easier to navigate, I'm saying Goth, Gothic, and Alternative interchangeably or where appropriate.
The loaded question,
"What makes something Goth?/Why do Goths like these things?" (Surprise, it's actually 2 questions!)
There isn't a predisposed rule about Bats, Bauhaus, and Halloween being Goth, we just happen to like them as individual people and found people that ALSO liked them. Its a surprisingly, almost singular circle, Venn Diagram. That being said, we do tend to appreciate a lot of the same design elements, and can thus comfortably find items we enjoy by engaging with the use of word "goth". We enjoy symbolism, creative use of colors, and recycling older designs to create  newer ones. We definitely take inspiration from thousands of sources, like Victorian fashion, fetish gear, and Punk's DIY attitude. Your look should be personal to you, inspired by the things you love to engage with, and feels comfortable for you to enjoy wearing while dancing.
That said, not everything I list in my endeavors to support the growth of our community will be strictly gothic, because there isn't a defined look to being Goth. I hope you'll still check it out, and, if you like it, support it!
It's pretty easy to find "Gothic style" online, but do you really trust that "gothic mall online" drop shipper? Are you on a budget and shopping fast fashion apps that send clothes you end up not liking? It's okay if that's what you do, it really is. There is something to admire about the convenience and lack of social anxiety we enjoy from Online shopping. However, I want to talk about Physical Stores.
While my favorite store, Anarchists Closet, has closed, my love for that shop, it's amazing owner, and the community it brought together, is undying. Anarchist's was loudly inclusive of it's customer base, was active in the community through events, ticket sales, and fashion shows, and ensured we'd see our favorite pieces at events again and again. Their Mission was always clear: We Dress Everyone!  The world needs more Anarchist's Closets, and I'm going to Find them!
Here's a few stores you can stomp your stacks into and play dress up in for an hour or two. Please, buy something from them. Hell, get a gift card for your friend you thought of in there if you can't find anything for yourself. The Community needs these stores to thrive so that more can be inspired to start up! Be inspired to start your own wildly unique and wonderful Alternative store for us to explore!
This is Definitely NOT a COMPLETE list. (In fact, I got overwhelmed writing this and took forever to publish haha)
Email [email protected] when you find places! World Wide Accepted! Please include a full street address with business' name!

I want to end this on a small love note to a new found source of community for me:
Alternative Markets.
We have to keep them going, to keep the Community going.
Whatever you want to call yourself, an Alternative, or Punk Rock Flea Market, Faire, or Festival is where you want to go to find the people hand-making intricate, meaningful, and life saving products. To be clear: you would be the life saver in this situation, where you buy something from a creator, offsetting the cost of the booth rental and travel costs that can really cut into budgets. Many people have conditions that make working regular jobs difficult, vending at markets are often a good source of income for them. Additionally, they're a fantastic opportunity to find a new favorite Local Band to support as well! Whoa! That's a 2 for One, Pal! Score!
Many are free, or have free parking but charge entry. I do suggest taking enough cash for your daily purchases, just in case there's bad signal in the area, a Food truck can't take digital payments, or you decide to buy a local band a drink.
Thanks for reading! Let me know if you find any local physical shops I should add to future blog posts.
Also, let me know about events happening near you! Gothic. Info. 666 is building a network of event promotion for the Goth/Alternative communities, and we'd love to have your help!
We'll be posting submission guidelines soon!

15 Questions, 15 Mutuals
Thanks for the tag @freesia-writes I didn't completely forget about this no not at all
Were you named after anyone?
My middle name is the same middle name my biomom wanted to give me, and it's also my aunts middle name.
When was the last time you cried?
Lol yesterday? Crying for me isn't about sadness, it's just about Too Much Emotion. So I can be pissed and cry because I'm too mad. Yeah, it's totally fun 🙄
Do you have kids?
No and I never will. I'd be happy to be a supportive adult figure to kids if anyone in my family or friend circle ever has any, but those chances are low.
Do you use sarcasm?
Often. But it's rarely understood even when I use the appropriate tone indicators. So much so, that my parents made up a special name for my kind of sarcasm when I was a kid. But they didn't believe me when I first told them I was autistic 🙃
What’s the first thing you notice about people?
Depends on the setting. In person I'll notice clothing and hair style first. Online I notice how fluent in tumblrese one may or may not be.
What’s your eye color?
Blue.
Scary movies or happy endings?
I don't understand the use of 'or' here, because several scary movies have happy endings. So both. I like scary movies, though this is a recent development. The Haunting of Bly Manor and Midnight Mass are two of my favorite spooky things-though they are not movies. I love the energy of Slashers but not the gore. Alien horror is probably my favorite subgenre of horror. I'm thrilled for the attempted Alien reboot even though they were meh movies, they still scratched that itch. David is a gift to the universe however, and must be feared cherished forever.
Any special talents?
I find this question difficult. A toddler may have talent in the arts and that would be an apt description for someone so young to show increased level of development in a particular area. But for myself, an adult who's put hundreds of thousands of hours into my so called "talents?" At that point they've turned into skills. So for special skills, which I'll take to mean unusual or uncommon skills, I have an adept eye for color. There's this game called "I love hue too" which makes puzzles out of colors-I am very good at it. The best word I can come up to describe this skill is Therapy Skills, so I'll just call it that-but I've learned a lot of therapy skills over the past three years of therapy that improve my day to day life. I include this because from my social circle irl, it seems what I know is not commonly known or understood. And it takes more than just knowing to do them. That's vague, but it's hard to explain. Lastly, I'll mention my ability to navigate so long as I can see the sky (no skyscrapers.) Which is funny, because my sense of direction is shit when I'm in place. Once I get moving, however, I can find my way back to a previously visited location. Don't ask how-just know it worked enough to relay on in a mountain side town in Italy without google maps to assist us. (Maps are my enemy.)
Where were you born?
A dumb place that I'm happy to be away from.
What are your hobbies?
Obviously writing and drawing. I also enjoy games: card, board, or video. I love tv and movies, film in general since I spend a lot of time listening to long youtube video essays when I'm working around the house. Cooking and baking are hobbies, but they take a lot of energy out of me. I like to sing and generally like music, but I've not had much time to listen to anything recently. I also know how to crotchet and less than the basics of sewing, but I'd love to learn more. I just don't learn well from videos.
Have any pets?
Orange tabby named Cheddar. He recently got three teeth out because of something that happens to old cats and their teeth. Now when he yawns he's missing one fang. (The other two teeth were back molars)
What sports do/have you played?
A lot. I think over-exercising and constant dieting as a kid fucked my body up honestly. Swim, Cross Country, Track and Field (Discus and Shotput), Basket Ball and Volley Ball. Oh, and Soccer can't forget soccer.
How tall are you?
5'9" or 152.4 cm
Favorite subject at school?
Thinking forward, since I'm maybe a year of classes away from graduation, I'm curious about the technical writing class that's offered and I'm excited to get into research and writing. I've always felt a little lost when it came to doing "proper" research-what does that even mean? Looking back, since I only have major requirements left, Mixed Media Experimentation left a big impact on me as an artist (isn't that a riot? Went from an Illustration to Writing Degree.) I had a "China" class that fulfilled some general requirements that has always stayed with me. It's odd, because it was kinda everything that could be taught about China was bundled up bite size for the class. Culture, history, and current events all in one. I'd love to attend more classes like that for other countries. And I wish I'd had a better history education in general. I don't know when things happen, and dates are just vague numbers to me. But I love listening to Kaz Rowe's videos.
Dream job?
Book agent. I know, not an artist or a writer. I don't want to write my own books-I have no interest in making original fiction. At most, I might write a few non-fiction personal essays or poems that I might try to get published in a lit mag. But what I really want to do is get books I want to read published. I want to help authors who are passionate about their stories get good deals with publishing houses, especially anything queer, monster fuckery (and real monsters not blue greek gods or normal ass men who can use magic and live to be 1000), and smutty.
It seems everyone I know within the tbb circle has been tagged for this, so I'll throw a few to my other circles and ya'll can ignore if you want: @commander-krios @klynnvakarian @bagheerita @inconsistent-at-best @wonderingaround1980 @tarysande @chaniis-atlantis @all-mighty-yaoiyuri @anonmadsci
