A little something I busied myself with these last two days. I'm very unsure about the length (and really everything about this) but I didn't want to scrap the buildup.
Nuclear winterfes was probably my favorite of the “fests” on the channel. Super proud to have worked on it! GTAW fc is probably one of my favorite fusion collabs now (totally not biases LOL)
Of all the artists and bands I was introduced to through SiIva, no one sticks out harder to me than Porter Robinson. I'm still not quite sure where he sits in the cultural sphere of the music world (again - VERY out of touch), but the quality of his work of what I've heard of it is genuinely incredible. Of course, there's one specific SiIva rip that comes to everyone's mind when Porter Robinson is discussed - one I'm very much saving for a later date - and its release alone cemented Porter Robinson's music - particularly Goodbye to a World - as mainstays on the channel. Especially, of course, when tied to Undertale music.
I'll try not to dangle that carrot any further, but Battle Against a True Porter is really cool in how - seven years later - it sort of subverts our attachment to Porter's music. Rather than being used in a mashup, here Battle Against a True Hero is full-on rearranged in the style of various Porter songs, to the point where it hardly even resembles the original Undertale song. It doesn't use one single Porter song as its source or feature clear cut-off points, but rather takes elements from a half dozen songs to reimagine Battle Against a True Hero entirely. The results, as many commenters have pointed out, are pretty incredible - some even feel as if it sounds like an official remix. Its a pretty stark difference compared to Porter's beginnings on the channel, where its original ripper has been quite critical of their own execution of the idea.
In a way, Battle Against a True Porter really does embody seven years of progress for the channel - seven years of that same emotional attachment to SiIvaGunner, yet not held back by what once was - instead able to remix and reshape it in so many creative and interesting ways. I love Netyasha Roozi's work on SiIva, particularly for the fascinating soundscapes she creates just like this one, and I'll definitely be covering her work more in the future.
Too many of them had died… and those who were left were more broken because of it. So when Peter hesitantly admitted to knowing about a spell that would send someone back in time Stiles knew he had to do it.
director's cut for the zombies fics! how'd you go about deciding plot?
oooh. I am an awful person for plot, and to be honest, the story did wander a bit from the original idea - i knew i wanted Matt to be turned, and to have to deal with that (Sunshineverse continues to have a hold on my brain). Having Lee's support and suddenly fleshing out a whole OC to help them was a surprise, and to be honest, the avocados had a fair influence on the plot when i was waffling (and a few dice rolls when i was stumped)
The idea of having a 'good' ending and then the real one came along about halfway through the first fic, I knew i wanted a sequel to fix the cliffhanger, but equally knew a lot of people aren't fans of the bad endings...
