Summer windows 7
<-•—•—•—•—•—•—•—•—•—•—•—•—•—•—•—•—•—•—•—•—•->
Characters: Togata Mirio, Sesshomaru, Uchiha Sasuke, Aizawa Shota, Jean, Uzumaki Naruto
<-•—•—•—•—•—•—•—•—•—•—•—•—•—•—•—•—•—•—•—•—•->
Full disclosure: I didn't realize I put the same thing twice (for once) and I don’t know why I forgot anything fun about summer until now. So number 45 is changed from the list and I’ll probably change it later but yeah.
<-•—•—•—•—•—•—•—•—•—•—•—•—•—•—•—•—•—•—•—•—•->
43: Sweet tea
Mirio
Japan was different from America for sure. You did have a bit of adjusting to do. The first one was sugar.
“What do you mean you can’t find the tea?” Mirio asks as you sandwich your work phone between your shoulder and ear.
“I can’t find it. I just need black tea, I want to make sweet tea.” You whine quietly.
You had been looking through the store for thirty minutes and you didn’t have the heart to even try and play the game of translator telephone with an employee.
While you went to pay for your items and headed back to the apartment your company was renting for you, Mirio popped into a supermarket near his apartment.
You were pacing around trying to organize everything as you mumble to yourself. “Did I not get enough rice? Not that I have a fancy container for it.”
The sound of the bell makes you pause. Quickly going to see who it is.
“I brought tea, I think this is what you’re looking for.” Mirio holds up the box with a smile.
You look it over and raise a brow. “You’re right, thank you. I can start making it now and it should be ready by tomorrow.”
“Glad I could be helpful.” He was about to leave but you grab his hand.
“You’re not busy right? Just keep me company until we need to go into work.” You grin, his hand barely in yours but he didn’t break the hold.
Mirio gives a small nod. “Maybe I can figure it’s why you’re so keen on drinking sweet tea.”
44: Hot springs
Sesshomaru
One way to cool off was to get warm. The hot springs were just what the doctor ordered when it came to relieving your stress (normally.)
Though as you sat in the hot water you couldn’t shake the nerves that twisted as you sat next to Sesshomaru. Only just a reminder of how small you are and just not used to the same lifestyle as him you are.
“How often do you come here?”
He looks down at you after a long moment. “Six times a year. Mostly for meetings.”
You feel your face scrunch. The meetings. You hated them because they were long and everyone was always on edge. One wrong move and the flower of the conversation can flip like a switch.
“Don’t worry you’ll be in the room and it will be short.” Sesshomaru seemed to be showing a side to you that felt out of character to you.
His hand around your shoulder. Quiet words to you.
“Maybe you should bring me with you another time you come, coming to the hot springs with you is fun.”
“It’s more relaxing with you than with my younger brother.” He states.
You have to hold back the smile. Everyone, even the others, believed that Sesshomaru didn’t like Inuyasha but he cared in his own way.
Nodding you stand up. “I’m gonna go back in. Private bath or not, don't stay out here for too long.”
45: super soaked
Sasuke
Holding the water gun at the ready you smirk. The neighborhood kids were having a water fight, everyone was armed and ready with their weapon of choice. Granted there are kiddy pool stations littered around the area as a play off for little kids and refuel.
“Y/N, your boyfriend is here!” Taunts one of the kids.
You didn’t budge. Sasuke wasn’t supposed to be over until later in the day. Not that you considered him your boyfriend. Hearing the footsteps you readied yourself. Just take Jung the few steps you were showered with water balloons.
Your shirt clinging to you now is pretty useless in keeping the sun off your skin now. Sasuke was indeed there and now super soaked.
“Uh oh. Did I mix up the times?” You wince squeezing the water from the shirt in your hands.
“I thought I’d come early.” He sighs, wiping some water off his face.
Thinking for a moment you smile. “Come on I have a change of clothes for you inside, let’s just have a little fun.”
Three hours later you shook the towel through his hair while your sisters sat on the back porch whining.
“I told you not to throw the water balloons too hard,” you scold as you check Sasuke’s hair.
He stayed quiet.
“Sasuke, Sasuke did you have fun?” “Yeah, did you? You know Y/N is like the best when it comes to the water fight.” “Yeah, yeah they are super fast and we hardly get them.”
You chuckle as both girls excitedly push into the man’s personal space.
“That was new.”
Your younger cousin nods. “You should come again, maybe we can have teams next time.”
You smack him with the towel in your hand. “Oi, the last time you guys tried that one of the babies got a cut, so not happening.”
“Maybe I can participate again.”
You look down at your boyfriend before plopping next to him. “Sure, I’ll prepare for you. Just remember to have fun.”
46: Strawberries
Midoriya
“Y/N, is it really okay for me to be here?”
For the weekend you needed to visit your grandparents to help with the farm. You were so used to it that you mentioned it to Midoriya one day while you were on the phone. So he offered to help.
“You asked to help, my grandparents own a strawberry farm.” You sigh as you knock on the door.
He frowns. “But I didn’t think you’d agree.”
You gasp. “You really think I’m gonna miss the chance to spend time with you even if it’s gonna be in a greenhouse repotting baby strawberries?”
“No.”
The door slams open and I barely get a chance to duck back before my grandmother lunges for me. “N/N, I’m so happy to see you, how was the shop? Is your father refusing to move things around a little bit?”
She was older and could easily get hurt but she moved around like she was still in her twenties. “Nana, I need to breathe.”
“You brought a guest, is he your boyfriend?”
Midoriya was probably still trying to process what happened. “Uh
“This is Midoriya, my boyfriend, yes. But Nana I wanna breathe please, your arms are getting tighter you know I get nervous when you do this,” you rush out.
Her hands loosen and she grabs your shoulders. You could see the gears turning in her head as she looked at you then at the man next to you and raised a brow.
“He’s a bit big for you isn’t he?”
“Grandma!” You chance a peek at Midoriya and you have to hold back a chuckle. His face was so red you couldn’t help yourself but your grandmother beat you to the punch.
“Look at that there’s a strawberry ripe for the picking right there.”
You cover your face. “I’m so sorry Midoriya.”
He gives a stiff nod. “I-it’ss o-okay.”
Never a dull moment in your fucking family.
47: Sunshine lollipops and rainbows…
Aizawa
Nothing was better than having a day off from hero work and cleaning your apartment after only spending short windows in the place you paid to live in. Your younger brother was with friends and that gave you enough reason to just relax. Your headphones in and your cellphone on the counter you couldn’t imagine a better way to relax.
Until you head a knock on the door. Checking who it could be, you were surprised to see your coworker at your door.
“What’s up Aizawa?”
He held up a bag and his phone. He had sent you a few messages probably under Yamada’s orders. You would get stuck in something and forget about the world around you.
“Did you eat anything since you started cleaning?”
“No.”
Aizawa sighs as you step aside to let him in. “Why are you like this? You’ve already been here at least five years.”
Sitting at the only clean surface in your house, your desk, you frown. “I dunno maybe it has something to do with the fact I’ve been a full time hero before I was able to vote in my home country?”
“Where’s your brother?”
Always asking a question when you have a mouthful of food, rolling your eyes and swallowing the bite without chewing. “He went with friends. He’s a high school student now. I don't expect him to stay home in summer.”
Aizawa’s face scrunches up. “Right, I almost forgot that you believe it’s normal to run around with only a few hours of sleep.”
“Hey! You do the same damn thing, at least the difference is I only need a bit of sunlight to recharge from quirk use, innit that right dry eyes?” You stick out your tongue before returning to the food.
Aizawa and Yamada had been irreplaceable friends when it came to living in Japan. Luckily since all the major life changes happened after you turned eighteen you didn’t have to worry about much.
“So you were cleaning?”
You frown as you put your cup down. “Yeah, what’s wrong with reorganizing everything when you clean?”
“Nothing it’s just-
“You gonna judge the way I clean you can help move the heavy stuff,” you order.
So after making you eat a meal Aizawa was moving your bed. You had one earbud in you sang along with the music as you organized your spices.
“Sunshine lollipops and rainbows, everything that’s wonderful is what I feel when we’re together,” you smile when you take a peek above you.
The pots were about to come down on your head and you didn’t have a seed in your hand. Instead a familiar white cloth jumps up and you look back with a large grin.
“Sorry, maybe the top shelf wasn’t the best place for those,” you laugh.
Aizawa frowns. “Let’s try to finish this before I have to go.”
“Thank you Aizawa.” He really was like a lucky penny.
48: Picnic
Jean
“Head attendant, can we have a picnic?” Bennet had at least six people following behind him as you were cleaning the windows in the grandmaster’s office.
“What?” You step down from your ladder with a raised brow.
“Can we all have a picnic? We wanted to help you and Grandmaster Jean, and Calvary chief Kaeya relax even just for a moment,” Noelle adds with a large grin. “We’ll do all the cooking and just relax under the sun for a day.”
Jean who’d been neck deep in paperwork looks at you pleading for this not to commence and you give a small nod. “That sounds lovely, please tell me what day you plan to have this picnic so I can plan accordingly.”
Aether, the traveler, smirks. “Tomorrow, I can take you all there tomorrow. Eleven in the morning.”
Jean groans. “That’s a bit early.”
But just as you were about to argue Lisa walks in. “Tomorrow that sounds lovely, I can handle any work for tomorrow Jean why don’t you relax? If Y/N is going along that means most of the things are going to be solved before the question can get to you.”
Noelle and Bennet were jumping with excitement and you notice Barbra twirling in her spot. Checking your pocketwatch you smile.
“Of course, eleven tomorrow, correct? I suppose I should start preparing now. I look forward to what all of you have prepared.”
The rest of your afternoon was informing anyone that would need to prepare and disaster checking. Luckily Alice was here to keep an eye on Klee and spend a bit of time with her. You were thankful for that, not that the local fish population would be.
Eleven came rather quickly. You, Jean, and Kaeya waited by the main gates when only Aether appeared. He was quickly to take the three of you with him. Only to be transported to a serene beach area.
“This is lovely, what is this place?” Jean asks as you look around for the others who’d invited you out.
“It was a gift from an old friend,” Aether smiles as he guides you. “We picked a spot for the picnic and it’ll give you a chance to relax.”
“That’s good I’m sure relaxing is just as important as work,” Kaeya teases.
You nod. “Indeed it is. I’m glad the two of you wore the clothes that I prepared for you.”
“This is a little hard to fight in just in case—
The floating child appeared. “There will be no fighting, no reason to have your swords.”
“There’s no danger here?” You ask a bit confused.
“No danger, only space.”
The spot that Aether led you to was a large blanket under a tree. Finding a spot to sit it was only a few seconds before the others came out with baskets. You smile when Barbra sits between you and her sister.
“Grandmas-“ you stop and think. “No I believe we’re off duty presently, Jean do you like the juice?”
“It’s a little warm but surprisingly refreshing,” she smiles.
You nod. “I’ve seen Barbra giving it to a few of the knights to cool off. I’m glad it’s to your liking.”
Barbra looked down but you could see the smile. “Head att- I mean Y/N, you didn’t have to.”
Patting her head gently you smile. “Credit is due when you put so much time into making it. I quite like it. Bennet, what did you make?”
“Aether wouldn’t let me at the stove for too long so I only made egg sandwiches with Noelle’s help.” He frowns.
Kaeya looks at you. “You always spend so much time praising them.”
“Everyone needs praise. Even you,” you smile. “Thank you for allowing us this short solace.”
After the meal you asked if it was okay to go for a short walk after the meal. Jean joined you after a few paces and you gave her a small smile before her hand found its way into yours.
“Did you get to spend enough time with Barbra?” You ask.
“Yes, sometimes I forget that I should do that more.” She pushes her hair back with a small smile.
You look up. “You’re right. I do hope that they don’t overwork themselves.”
“That’s why we have to become reliable adults.” Jean nods and you flick her forehead.
“Reliable also means knowing when to take a break before work comes at the expense of your health,” you scold. “My dear you do need to walk around outside more.”
Her pace slows a bit. “Wha-
You pause. That came out wrong, you hadn’t intended to confess ever. Serving Jean and the knight of Favonius was your only task.
“I di-didn’t mean fo-for that ttto come o-
Jean pulls you toward her. “I’m starting to realize why your eyes are always on me.”
Just as you were about to say something a shout cuts in.
“The kids are still here, have your loveydovey moments in private please.”
49: Snacks
Naruto
“Movie night, movie night.” You chant while you sort through your cupboard and pantry.
“Y/N, is it gonna be just us or is anyone else coming along?” Naruto asks as he starts pulling down a few bowls.
You lean over the counter and check your phone. “Nope just us, so that means we should probably pick our favorite snacks.”
“Snacks, though your favorite are bar snacks and drinking snacks. Do you have any?” He states.
You blink, how did he remember what kind of snacks you liked? “I- um.” Checking the cupboard you frown, all sweets.
“I can go to the convenience store to buy more if you want?” He offers, picking up the keys off the counter.
Giving a small nod you pout. “Thanks, I really appreciate it. Let me pay though.”
Digging in your bag you hand him the money you kept on hand.
“You don’t have to—
“Come on, unless you wanna buy dinner from the continence store too?” You urge.
Naruto thinks for a moment and smiles. “Sounds good, I’ll buy your snacks and some ramen from the store for dinner.”
You give a quick kiss before he leaves the kitchen. “Thank you.”

SanKag #10?
10. high school popular kid/nerd au
Honestly, bless you for sending this request anon! I’ve been wanting to try my hand at KagSan for a while now (InuKag is my OTP but I just love my girls). First time writing some, but I hope you will enjoy it! Tooth-rotting fluff ahead…
SangoTaijiya was no doubt the coolest of all the cool kids of the ShikonHigh School. Captain of the martial arts team, she was knownthroughout the school for winning several championships, and perhapseven more, throughout the girls of said school, for being alwaysready to defend them in case there was a problem with a boy — asMiroku Hoshi had painfully discovered more than once.
Sangodefinitely tried her best to put her strength to good use whenevershe needed it, as had been taught to her by her father. She didn’ttry to intimidate people nor to scare them off, though she knew shehad that effect on some of the younger students, which she found tobe very unfortunate. It didn’t bother her too much this yearthough, unlike the previous years, because at least she didn’t seemto scare her.
Her,being Kagome Higurashi.
Sangohad been assigned to working with Kagome for the semester in theirlab sessions. She remembered Kagome vaguely as the girl who struggledin her maths class, which Sango related to a little too much for hertaste, and she thought that this class could only go rather poorly,considering she wasn’t exactly great at precision and delicacy andKagome was apparently bad at that stuff.
Boy,had she been wrong.
Itturned out, Kagome may have trouble with maths, but she definitelyhad her shit together when it came to virtually everything else, andSango spent most of her time staring in awe.
Itdidn’t take long before she knew a lot more about the girl, whobehind her bangs and her impassive attitude turned out to be a verybright and kind person. She was good at most stuff because shestudied a lot (“what can I say, I have a lot of free time”), herpersonal preference was history and more specifically the Feudal Era(“as long as my grandfather’s not the one talking about it”),and she occasionally trained for her spiritual powers and archery butshe left most of that to her sister (“I guess Kikyo’s the one whogot the talent…”).
Oh,and she had the most beautiful smile Sango had ever seen, and eyes inwhich she regularly got lost — which would make Kagome laugh andtease her and wowher laugh and…
AndSango Taijiya was, no doubt, hopelessly and helplessly in love withKagome Higurashi. Which was a problem, because she could not, for thelife of her, manage to ask her out, nor even to find an excuse tospend time with her outside of class.
Itshould have been easy for her. She’d beaten up people twice hersize, her dad occasionally asked her for help with their demonhunting agency (perfectly legal which only went after criminals, bythe way, simply being specialized in demons), and she— she hadnever had problems talking to people, dammit!
Butapparently, that didn’t apply to Kagome, who just so happened to bethe first person she had ever wanted to talk to thatmuch,and God, did she hate herself for that.
Untilone day, while she was going to the cafeteria to eat her lunch, shefound Kagome in the hallway, cornered by Koga, captain of thefootball team, wolf-demon, and all in all kind of an asshole, thoughSango had heard from her friend Ayame that he had his good sides.
Itwas instantly clear to her that Kagome was uncomfortable. She hadheard through rumors — completely by accident, not like she wastrying to find out more about Kagome or anything — that Koga hadalready asked the girl out several times, always earning a refusal.Apparently, that hadn’t been enough for him. It took her less thana second to take action.
“Hey,Kagome,” she said, letting her hand fall on the Koga’s shoulderin a way that wasn’t exactly friendly, “everything okay?”
Kagometurned towards her and smiled. She didn’t exactly look like she wasimpressed or star-struck, which Sango had to admit was a littledisappointing, but at least she seemed happy to see her.
Maybe.
Perhaps.
Possibly.
Argh.
“Everything’sfine,” she replied, slipping from under Koga’s arm easily.“You’re late for lunch though. Bye Koga!”
Theboy opened his mouth while Kagome grabbed Sango by the elbow, but thedark glance the martial arts champion gave him seemed to manage tomake him shut up. Maybe he realized what he was risking.
Sangofollowed Kagome in an awkward silence, internally praying that shewasn’t blushing too hard (she was), until Kagome commented, a hintof amusement in her voice, “I could have taken care of him, youknow.”
Oh.Definitely not swept off her feet, then?
“Spiritualpowers?” Sango guessed.
Kagomelaughed. Had Sango mentioned she loved that sound yet? Because it hadto be her favorite sound in the world and it made her heart beatfaster in ways nothing else had before.
“That,or just conversation, you know? Koga is not such a bad guy if youknow how to handle him.”
Sangosomewhat tensed at that. “Well, he clearly can’t take no for ananswer.” And then her voice softened. “Maybe you’re just tookind Kagome.”
Kagomechuckled guiltily. “Yeah, I get a lot of that… Wanna actuallyjoin me for lunch, by the way?”
Ifher heart kept skipping beats like that, Sango was going to genuinelystart worrying.
“S-sure!”
Hadthat been too enthusiastic? Or not enough? And why had she stuttered?Oh God, what if Kagome knew she liked her now? And, maybe worse, whatif Kagome thought she didn’tlike her?
Andwhy on Earth was Kagome more terrifying to her than any demon she hadever fought? She needed to get a grip on herself!
“Great!I eat on the roof.”
Huh?Wasn’t that… Not allowed? It didn’t sound like Kagome to breakrules.
Itall became clear when Kagome pushed the doors to the roof opened andthey were greeted by white hair and a growl, soon followed by “You’refucking late you— Wait, why is shehere?”
Well,she’d be damned. Inuyasha-fucking-Taisho — no wonder no one wouldsay anything to him. Despite being a half-demon, he was one of thestrongest demons around, second only to his brother, and ofcourseSesshomaru couldn’t be bothered with taking care of him.
“She’sa friend,” Kagome replied as she let herself fall next to thehalf-demon while him and Sango stared cautiously at each other likethey were trying to assess the threat they presented. “I made you abento.”
“Itold ya not to do that. I can just go back to my place to make myselframen during lunch. ’s not like anyone’s gonna notice I’mgone.”
“Iwould,” Kagome replied simply, handing him a box, and it was soobvious that it made him so damn happy that Sango had to resistshaking her head openly.
Butthen, she was probably just as obvious, so she didn’t have muchroom to talk.
“I’msorry I don’t have anything for you by the way, Sango, but if youlet me know if you ever want to eat with us, I could make you one!”
“Youwant her to what?”
“Inuyasha…”
Tobe honest, Sango was paying no attention whatsoever when they startedto banter, too focused on Kagome’s proposition.
Shewas going to make her a bento.
Rulesof interactions should have made her decline politely, and thenhopefully Kagome would have insisted, but now Sango wanted to eatthat bento somuchand—
“Howabout tomorrow?”
…She’djust said that out loud, hadn’t she? Kagome interrupted her banterwith Inuyasha to look at her, and maybe it was just wishful thinking,but Sango could have swornthere was a light blush on her cheeks.
“H-huh?I-I mean, yeah, I-I can make that work, I mean I’d loveto, I mean… I’ll make you one!”
Andagain, maybe she was imagining it, but it looked like her smile waseven more bright and blinding than it usually was.
WhenSango arrived on the roof the next day, maybe just a littleover-excited, there was only Kagome there, which surprised her a bit.It had seemed that Inuyasha and her were close friends, and Sangoexpected to find him here.
“Idon’t know where Inuyasha is,” Kagome said like she was readingher mind. “He’s not that rude usually.”
Sangogrinned. “Oh, really?”
“Well,okay, maybe he isthat rude,” Kagome admitted, smiling back, “but he’s a reallygood guy underneath all of that, I promise!”
Sangosmiled again at Kagome’s enthusiastic defense of her friend. Shehoped she could one day be counted in the people Kagome would reactlike that for.
“Soare you two, like…”
“Hm?”
Wouldit be obvious if she asked what she had in mind? Did people ask thatsort of stuff to their friends? Did— She really needed to stopworrying about that stuff so much.
“…like,a thing?”
Kagomeblinked a couple of times. “Inuyasha and I? Oh, no! I mean, hedated my sister at some point…”
“Kikyo?”
“Youremembered!” Kagome beamed for a second. “Yeah, so they weretogether, but that, ahem, didn’t work out, to say the least. Webecame friends though, we have been for a while — but no, there’snothing like that between us.”
“So…You’re not interested in him?” Sango was probably pushing herluck by now, but dammit, she wanted to know.
Kagomelooked at her, still rummaging in her bag for the bento, and when sheblushed, Sango felt her heart stop.
“N-no,”Kagome mumbled, “I’m— er— Here you go!”
Holdinga box in her hands, she presented it to her, probably a little tooquickly, and Sango’s heart sunk. Kagome was lying — and poorly,at that. It was okay. She couldn’t force anyone to have feelingsafter all, nor would she have wanted to.
Witha heavy sigh, she opened the bento.
Andthen, everything stopped, while she stared at the heart made of ricethat she was facing — surrounded of course by other delicacies towhich she paid no attention for now.
Wh—Did— Was that— Did friends do that? She had never gotten a bentofrom a friend. She had never made one either. Was that a thing?
Sheglanced at Kagome, but the girl was staring at her bento, her hairtucked behind her ears, which were now a very obvious red as well.
“Ihope you like it,” she ended up whispering.
“I-Ido!” Sango replied immediately. “Me too— I mean I really likeyou— it!I really like it!”
Kagometurned to look at her, and Sango immediately plunged into her eyes.So beautiful, so blue, so expressive.
Then,Kagome’s eyes started getting closer. Was she— Was she leaningcloser? Was Sangothe one leaning closer? Was this actually happening? Please,please,let this be happening.
Kagomeclosed her eyes, only inches away from Sango’s face, and Sango didthe same. She could feel Kagome’s breath on her lips, she couldalready imagine her taste and—
“Hell,no.”
Witha shriek, the two girls jumped away from each other, and Sango’sfurious eyes landed on Inuyasha, who was perched on the fence thatwas supposed to stop people from, you know, jumping from the schoolroof — something a half-demon didn’t really need to care about.
“Iwas down to give you time to figure it out and all, but I ain’twatching this.”
IfSango was mad, Kagome’s blood was screaming for bloody murder.
“Inuyasha!”she hissed, furious, “I swear I—”
“You,”Inuyasha said, ignoring her completely, eyes fixated on Sango. “Ifyou hurt her, I’ll fucking kill you.”
Sangostared and him, then blinked. “First of all, I’d like to see youtry.That being said, if I hurt her, you will have my permission.”
Inuyashafrowned, but nodded. “Good, then.”
“Good.”
“Ifsomeone hurts me, I’ll take care of them myself,” Kagomegrumbled, clearly annoyed at their attitude. “You’re all reallyunderestimating me.”
Sangoand Inuyasha exchanged an amused look. Yeah, right…
Theyhad an enjoyable meal. Inuyasha was already starting to relax aroundSango, which made her think that he was mostly acting all tough. Hedid seem to be a really nice guy, just like Kagome had said. Thatdidn’t mean he was particularly talkative, but he wasn’t openlyhostile, and that was definitely improvement. If it kept going likethat, Sango mused, they’d be best friends in a week.
Oncethey were done, they proceeded to leave the roof, ready for anafternoon of class, after the best bento Sango had ever eaten.
Inuyashawalked out first. Immediately, Kagome grabbed Sango’s hand and,getting on her tiptoes, pressed her lips against the other woman’sfor a brief kiss.
Sangomelted. It didn’t last long, but Kagome’s mouth was warm and softand she felt heat all over her body suddenly.
Kagomepulled away too soon, exactly when Inuyasha was reopening the door tocomplain about how long they were taking. He eyed them suspiciouslywhen he saw their expressions, but didn’t comment.
Sangomanaged to grab Kagome’s hand on their way down, and Kagomeintertwined her fingers with hers.
Sangothought then that life couldn’t get any better.
Shewas wrong, of course. There were many better times to come. Theschool dance with Kagome by her side, the day when they moved intogether, the moment when she asked Kagome to marry her.
Butthis was the beginning of it all, and she would probably be right ifshe said the sun had never shone so bright on her life.
So I was going to mention them getting married at the end, but then I remembered same-sex marriage isn’t legal in Japan and now I’m sad, but anyway that’s why I say Sango asked Kagome to marry her. I don’t know if they’d get married in another country or if they’d wait for it to be legal and I didn’t want to make it sad (because I would expect them to want to get married), but, erm, yeah. Sorry for rambling, I hope you liked it!

Something Special
@inuvember  Day 25 AU Weekend
As the teacher walks in to the classroom that Monday morning, everyone’s heads turn.  A few snickers from the boys and giggles from the girls but for Kagome, she stares at the young man standing next to the sensei.  There is just something different about him that she can’t seem to put a finger on.  “Class we have a new student transferring in today.  His name is Inuyasha, I’d like everyone to treat him well.  Inuyasha please take that open seat.”  Sensei points to an open desk next to Kagome.  The girl gulps as the two lock eyes for just a moment, but in that flash, a bolt of electricity shoots through her body before they both turn and look away.
“I don’t wanna sit by a girl.” The boy grouses
“Well unfortunately it’s the only open desk.”
“Ugh fine.” The boy saunters to the desk and sits down, doing everything he can not to look at the girl beside him.  The male student on the other side of him snickers and mutters something under his breath pissing off him off.  “If you wanna make it to tomorrow…” Inuyasha growls through gritted teeth, “…best you just leave me alone.”  That shuts the other male up.
~~x~~
“He’s cute!”  The girls chattering around Kagome whisper and giggle.  “Total bad boy heart throb…” another girl sighs dreamily.  It’s the middle of PE class but since the teacher had an emergency, the students were just told to keep themselves occupied for the rest of the class time.  She watches the young man leaning against one of the fences through her peripheral vision, ‘yeah… I guess he’s cute…’  “Did you see his eyes!”  “Sigh, they were like gold coins!  I’ve never seen someone with that color before…”  “I heard he moved here with his older brother from another part of Japan.”  “Oh yeah?”  “Something about after his mom passed away…”  “That’s so sad…”  Kagome looks at him again, his head is down, and his arms are crossed, ‘maybe that’s why he’s so grouchy?  With that hat on I can’t tell if he’s looking…’  “Hey Kagome?”
Turning back to her friends, “Yeah.”
“I just asked you a question.”  Her friend giggles.  “But I guess you were too busy staring at him.”
Kagome immediately flushes, “I-I wasn’t staring at him.” But she can’t help her head from turning and looking at him again and is shocked to see him looking back.  “Oh my god…” she quickly turns away and hides her face, “he was looking at me!”
The other girls giggle harder, “Maybe he’s checking you out!”
“Hardly, he didn’t even wanna sit by me…”
“Well he’s still looking in this direction…” a friend whispers in her ear.  “Guess he changed his mind.”
Just as she’s about to look for herself, another males voice is heard calling her.  “Higurashi!”  She turns to see a boy waving.
‘Oh, just great!’  Houjou runs up, “Hey Higurashi, do you have plans this weekend?”
“Um why?”  She looks and sees the new guy walking away from the fence.  “What’s this weekend?”
“If you’re free, would you like to see a movie?”
“Oh… I don’t know…”
“Come on Kagome, go with Houjou, you’ll have fun.” Her friends prod her decision along.
“Shall I pick you up at 6 on Saturday?”
“Um, how about I meet you at 6 at the cineplex…”
“Great.  I’ll see you then!”  he walks back to his group of friends.
“Where did that come from?”  the shaken girl mumbles out and realizes Inuyasha has also disappeared.
Now her friends are really giggling, “Kagome you’ve caught the attention of two guys!  And two cute ones at that!”  “I’m so jealous!”
Laughing half-heartedly, she drops her shoulders, “Then why am I not thrilled…”  She looks back to the spot where the new student had been standing.  ‘Why was he looking at me?  He was too far away to know we were talking about him…’
For the rest of that week, Kagome and Inuyasha avoid contact as much as physically possible, despite sitting right next to each other in class.  Nope no eye contact, no verbal ones; though she swears she catches him staring at her sometimes when he thinks she’s not looking.  Outside of the classroom he continues his loner bit, eating alone at lunch time, only interacting with other students when forced to.  What’s with this guy, she wonders, I can understand maybe feeling sad if his mother passed away, she herself remembering when her own father died when she was younger, but still she gets the sense he hasn’t had much contact with other people even before moving here.  And then there are the odd sensations she receives from him, like that electricity on the first day, I mean she felt like she was shocked by an outlet.  On the few occasions when they’ve brushed against each other while getting up from their desks, or passing in the hallways, she’s felt what she can only describe as a pulse shoot through her body.  She’d mentioned this to a few others she trusted, and everyone had said they felt nothing, so what was that sensation and why was it only happening to her?
~~xx~~
As soon as he went home from school that Monday he immediately went to his brother’s office.  “This is a bad idea, there’s a miko in that class and she’s gonna figure out what I am!”
Without stopping what he was working on, Sesshomaru responds, “Did she?”
“Did she what?”
“Well did she figure it out?”
“Not yet, but she’s bound to.”
“Does she even know she is a miko?”
Inuyasha crosses his arms, “Actually…  No, I don’t think she does.”
“Then just avoid contact with her.”
“Keh.  Easy for you to say.”
Sesshomaru looks up from his papers.  “Why would it be difficult?” he raises an eyebrow.  “Unless you want to get closer to the human…”
“I still don’t understand why you don’t like humans.”
“Simple, they are weaker.   It’s bad enough I was saddled with a half human for a brother, I don’t need more in the family.”
“Fuck you Sesshomaru!”  Inuyasha stomps away to his room, slamming the door behind him.
But his brother just smirks, “Ugh, 200 years old and he still acts like a child.  And he wonders why I treat him like one.”  It had been their fathers dying wish that he take care of his little brother if anything happened to the mother, being human and all, she was more prone to their frailties and sure enough she contracted cancer by the time Inuyasha was less than 10 years old.  Of course, that was almost 200 years ago.  At first, he was absolutely against the idea, but it was his own mother that convinced him to do this.  You must honor your father’s wishes, she had said, as head of this clan now, you are the elder and must act appropriately.  Yeah well, it’s not exactly a picnic raising a hanyo, they mature slower and even though in years he is older, his mentality is closer to a 15-year old most of the time.  ‘Must be the human bloods influence…’  Sesshomaru really didn’t care if that girl figured out what they were, hell, in this day and age, demons were something from legends and fairytales, nothing humans really believed in anymore and this made hiding in plain sight much easier.  Of course, the fact that they age slowly did pose a problem, but fake identities, and moving around helped, even a short stint overseas; as long as they didn’t attract attention, no one cared.
Inuyasha did stay away from Kagome, well at least in school, but his curiosity about the girl was winning so by the third day, he had tracked her down to her home.  The fact that she lived at a shrine didn’t surprise him, considering miko blood seemed to run in her veins.  It was around midnight and the boy sat crouched on her roof above her bedroom listening to her breathing as she slept.  It was strange how peaceful her very presence felt in this environment, it wasn’t the same at school where the frenetic energy was maybe more skewed but here, it was soothing.  Sigh, ‘this could be a problem…’
That Saturday afternoon, Inuyasha was milling around the shrine again when her scent wafted through the air.  ‘Shit!’  She was close by and when he turned to look, sure enough was heading in his direction but seemed distracted.  He pulls the ballcap lower over his face, put his head down and keeps walking forward hoping she doesn’t notice him.
Adjusting her top, re-shouldering her purse, ‘Ugh, why did I agree to this movie date!’  Checking her purse again for her money.  ‘I don’t have any interest in Houjou regardless if he’s popular or not...  Why’d he ask me out all of a sudden anyways?’  She looks at her watch, 5:30pm.  ‘Great I may not even make it on time…’  Someone bumps into her as they pass by and that now familiar pulse shoots up her spine.  Turning around, “Hey watch….  It’s you?”
Cursing his yoki for making him walk into the girl, he stops too.  “Sorry,” he mumbles and tries to keep moving but she grabs his arm.
“What are you doing around here anyways?”
“Just exploring the city, what’s it to you.”  He pulls away and starts walking again.
“Hey, don’t walk away from me!” she hurries to catch up with him.  “I’m talking to you.”
“You’re gonna be late for your date if you keep following me.” He mumbles without slowing a step.
Kagome grabs his hand and tugs him to a stop.  “H-how did you know that’s where I was going?  You were too far away to have heard that conversation.”  Her eyes widen.  “Wait, is that why you walked away?  Because Houjou was asking me out on a date?”
“No!” he pulls his hand out of her grip and crosses his arms.  “Why they hell would I care if you go out with that boy?!”
“I don’t know, why don’t you tell me why you’re getting all defensive about the topic?!”
“Keh!  I am not getting defensive!”
“Oh, then what would you call this?” she crosses her arms too.  “And I don’t believe you when you say you were just passing by.”
He looks at his own watch, “Why do you care what I was doing, and by the way, you just stood that boy up.”
Without hesitation she retorts, “I don’t care,” stunning him.  “I’m not interested in Houjou anyways.”  He can’t stop the smirk from forming on his face.  “What’s that grin for?!”
“I’m not…”
Her hands fly to her mouth in shock, “You were bothered that I agreed to that date!”
He turns away, but the slight blush gives him away.  “I was not!”
She giggles, “Yes you were!  I see it on your face!”
He pulls his hat off and scratches his head trying to act nonchalantly, “I am not.”  There’s a shimmer over his head for a second.
‘Was that ears!’  She swears in the distorted shimmer there were ears on top of his head!  Her eyes narrow as she goads him further, “Are you attracted to me Inuyasha?” she moves closer to him.  “Is that why you avoid me in school yet somehow manage to find where I live in this big city?” Brushing against his arm, “Maybe that’s why you bumped into me today…”
“Will you shut it wench!”  the shimmer appears for a few more seconds and again she sees the ears.  “Just drop it would ya!” and storms off.  This time she lets him walk away.
As she watches him disappear around the corner a smirk appears on her face.  ‘I think he likes me…  But what the hell was going on with his head?  Is that why he wears a hat?’  She turns back and heads home to leave a message on Houjou’s phone…
Inuyasha cuts through the forests surrounding the city.  He needs to get away and clear his head, or maybe tear something up to vent his frustrations; like a tree trunk…  He can’t believe he was stupid enough to get pulled into a yelling match with that girl!  ‘You see what you caused?!’ he growls at his yoki.  ‘We shouldn’t be going near her, and yet you keep pushing me towards her!’  ‘Oh please, I’m not forcing you to do anything you didn’t wanna do for yourself…’  ‘She’s gonna figure out who I am!’  ‘Let her, she’s a perfect match for you!’  ‘What are you talking about?!’  ‘You know exactly what I’m talking about…’  He jumps up into a tree and starts tearing up the branches.  ‘I am not interested in that.’  ‘Don’t kid yourself…’  ‘She’s too young.’  ‘I’m not telling you to go that far; in this day and age, it’s called dating.  But just for your peace of mind, she’s 17, almost an adult.’  ‘Could you just shut up and leave me alone right now…’
Late that night, after her family had gone to bed, Kagome slips out of her room and with the help of a ladder climbs the Goshinboku.  Her grandfather told her it was a sacred tree that has watched over this area for centuries but for her, its ancient energy was simply a soothing one that she often turned to when something bothered her.  She settles on the lowest sturdiest branch, resting against it’s trunk to clear her mind.  All week she had been distracted by the new student, the strange sensations she would feel from him, the avoidances, and then now that run in earlier today.  Was her mind playing more tricks on her?  Maybe her eyes?  But she knows she’s not going crazy, those were clearly ears she saw on his head!  “That’s not possible, right?” whispering it more to just say something out loud.  As a normal teenage girl, she’s had small crushes on boys before, but beyond the he’s cute stage, no one’s ever struck a deeper cord.  Most of the time her focus was on school with the hopes of moving onto college someday and none of those goals included getting attached to any man.  Yet somehow, she couldn’t seem to stop thinking about him…
Eventually she dozes off, and that’s how he finds her.
It had developed into a nightly ritual and despite his run in with her earlier, his yoki compelled him to check on Kagome before he could sleep soundly with the knowledge she was safe.  But when he arrived above her room he immediately could tell she wasn’t in it.  Sniffing the air, he knows she’s somewhere around, the house is all dark, so he follows her scent.  With his keen eye sight, he can see her sleeping in the tree.  ‘Why the hell is she up there?’  Worried she could fall or hell get sick from being out in the cold night air, he debates momentarily about what he should do; leave her there, or get her back to her room.  He sighs and jumps up into the tree.
Praying that she’s a deep sleeper, he moves as quickly and gently as he can, bundling her into his arms before jumping back down to the ground.  But as he walks towards her room she starts to shift, putting her arms around his neck, “Mmm… warm…” He stiffens a little, but it seems she’s just sleep talking for now.  He breathes a sigh of relief when he notices the window of her room is still open and manages to get through without too much trouble.  But after placing her on the bed and pulling blankets over her she whispers, “Inuyasha…”
‘Oh crap!’  Thinking he was just busted, he scrambles out her window and disappears into the night.  She smiles in her sleep as the dream shes having is centered around a certain new student in her class…
~~xx~~
Monday morning and the exodus continues.  All day as usual, Kagome and Inuyasha pay no attention to each other in the classroom.  But instead of his normal sullen looks, she thinks he almost seems nervous.  Finally, by the last class of the day, PE, she can’t take it anymore and corners him alone on the field.
“Alright spill it, I can handle your glares but why are so nervous around me today?”
“I’m not nervous.”
“I can feel it from you, is it because I accused you of having a crush on me?”
‘Whew, she doesn’t remember the tree…’  “No, because I don’t.”
“W-well that’s good to know, cause I don’t either.”
“Then why did your voice just crack?”
“My voice didn’t’ crack!”
“Oh-ho, so maybe it’s the other way around?  Is that why you didn’t mind missing your date with that boy?  Cause you have a crush on me!”
Kagome crosses her arms, “Tch, no that’s not it.”
“Then why are you getting defensive over the topic?” he throws the same jab back at her.  But she decides not to let him win this round.  Exhale, unfurling her arms, she reaches up with one hand and waves it over his head.  He moves back, “What are you doing?”
“I swear I saw ears on Saturday so I’m checking to see if I can feel anything.”
He swats her hand away, “I don’t have ears on top of my head.”
“I saw it twice and I know I’m not going crazy.”
She reaches up again but this time he grabs her wrist, “Please stop, don’t attract any attention to me.” he mumbles to her.
“Then tell me the truth.”
Sigh, “Not here.”
“Then where?”
“Just stay home tonight.”
“Why?”
“Ugh, do you have to be so damn stubborn.  Just stay home.”
“Alright!” she grumbles, “Are you gonna call or something?”
“Or something.” And he walks away leaving her confused.
~~x~~
He listens and waits from the roof over her room until the rest of her family is asleep.  He could hear her complaining that he had stood her up and chuckles, just be patient Kagome…
Finally, when she is the last one awake, he leaps down to her window and jumps through startling her.  “What are you doing in my room!?”
“I told you or something.  Do you wanna know the truth or not?”
Kagome settles down on her bed with her back against the wall, “Yes.”
He sits down on the edge, “Are you sure, cause you better not freak out on me.”
“Why would I freak out?”
“Just swear not to scream or anything.”
“I won’t.”  He turns off the glamor spell and her hand flies up to cover her mouth but instead of a scream she giggles, “I knew it, you do have ears!”  Reaching out to rub them, “Ooh and they are so fluffy!”
“Okay stop that!” he pulls out of her reach.
With a pout, “But they are so adorable!”
“How are you not afraid of me, do you not realize what I am?”  Kagome scoots closer to him and reaches out again, but he flinches, “What are you doing?”
Without a response she touches his hair which looks a bit longer.  She grabs his hand and notes the nails that look more claw like.  Now she reaches up to touch his face…  “You look mostly human…” she murmurs, “Yet some of these features are canine…”
“I’m a Hanyo, an Inu Hanyo, do you know what that is?”
“Hanyo…” she ponders, “A half dog demon?”  Cocking her head, “I didn’t know demons still existed.”
“There’s not as many as there were many years ago.  Most of us hide our identities with spells to blend in with humans.”
“Why?”
“What do you mean why?  Because most humans don’t react like this, they, they fear us.”
“Then why are you showing yourself to me?”
Exhale, “Very few humans can sense us, and you are one of those humans.  It’s probably the miko blood running through your lineage and eventually you’d figure it out.”
“Okay, I can understand that, but still why reveal yourself to me?  You could have just, I don’t know convinced me I was seeing things.”
He feels his face flushing and turns away, “I don’t know why…  Maybe because I’m an idiot, at least that’s what my brother would probably say.”
“It must be lonely…  Having to hide who you really are…”  He looks back to her surprised, not just with how well she is taking this, but from the compassion he hears in her tone.  “But I don’t think you’re an idiot Inuyasha.”  Now her cheeks are flushing.  “Could I ask you something?”  he nods.  “Saturday night, I know I fell asleep in the Goshinboku, I do that sometimes when I wanna think, but somehow I woke up in my bed… Did you have something to do with that?”
“Maybe…” he mumbles, “I was worried you might fall.”
Her voice softens, “But how did you know I was up there?”
“I check on you, to make sure you’re safe each night.”  Now it’s her turn to look shocked.
An uncomfortable silence develops.  “Well um, it’s getting late and you should probably get home already.”
“Yeah,” he scratches his head, “you need your sleep.”
“Don’t you sleep?”
“Not as much as humans.”  He stands up and walks towards the window.
“Inuyasha?”
“What?”
“Could I ask you, is it true you just lost your mom?”
“No, she died over 150 years ago.”
“Wait, 150 years?  How old are you?”
“I think almost 200.”
“But you look my age!”
“We mature slower than humans.  Remember, don’t tell anyone about this…” and jumps out her window leaving her for the rest of the night.
Unbeknownst to Kagome, he simply leapt to her roof waiting for her to fall asleep; but she couldn’t, not after what she just learned about the mysterious boy.  Flopping on her back and letting herself sink into her comfy bed, she sighs.  “Inuyasha…” she breathes out his name.  His ears twitch and swivel.  “It’s so crazy…  And yet…” she sighs again.  “He’s a hanyo, something I’ve only heard about through the stories grandpa tells.  “But he’s so fascinating.”  Fascinating, he thinks to himself, that’s an interesting way of putting it.  He hears her yawn then giggle, “And very cute!”
‘Gah!  She thinks I’m cute?!’  ‘Aren’t you happy about that?’ his yoki points out.  ‘She looks too much like…’  ‘Oh, get over her man, that was over a hundred years ago and you were still just a pup.’  ‘She smells like her too.’  ‘So maybe that was her in another lifetime.  Will you just move on?’  ‘But Sesshomaru was right, she’s human, she won’t live as long…’  ‘You know there are ways now to keep them around longer…’  Sigh.  His yoki was right, there was a way to lengthen the life of a mate, but it could be a tricky process and death was always still a possibility.  ‘Geez, I’m not telling you to settle down with her, at least you’ve made a friend, and let fate take its course!’  ‘Maybe…’  He hears her breathing even out; she’s asleep.  “Goodnight Kagome…”
~~xx~~
“Doesn’t his butt look great in those jeans?” Kagome’s friend whispers to her as they walk towards their class.  Inuyasha is just up ahead of them, and she swears she saw his head tilt from the comment.  Knowing what she knows now, he probably heard what her friend said so she decides to test the theory.
“Oh yeah, he definitely has a cute ass.”  ‘Did his step just falter?  I bet if I could see his ears, they’d be twitching like crazy!’  She grins, “Perfect for squeezing.”
Inuyasha stops walking and turns around, staring at her for a second; he can’t believe what just came out of Kagome’s mouth!
“He’s looking at you again!” her friend giggles.  “Do you think he heard…”
“Uh-huh…” she gives him a sneaky smile, “I’m sure he did…”
~~xx~~
Two weeks later, on a Friday, Inuyasha is absent from school and Kagome is curious as to why.  They had only spoken a few times since that Monday night, never in school, but he had snuck in to her room a few times to ‘talk’.  Maybe out of boredom, who knew.  He wasn’t much of a talker, but it was better than nothing.  Oh, he had given her an earful about gossiping about him in school, but she just laughed it off that she was just checking to see if he was eavesdropping.  What was nice about the visits, was he seemed to be more relaxed when it was just the two of them in the privacy of her room.  Maybe because he didn’t have to hide who he really was, even turning off the spell while he’d be there.  She almost felt, honored that he was warming up to her, if that’s what you could call it.  So, when he didn’t show up for school she became concerned.
Without the advantage of a canine’s nose to help her, she had to resort to more practical means to find out where he lived; in other words, schmoozing the office worker to give her the information.  Feigning a need to take him his school work for the day but forgetting his address, after some sweet pleading, the office girl finally gave her what she needed.
~~~
It took a short ride on the commuter train, a bus, and finally, a two block walk till she had reached her destination at the edge of town.  ‘Wow…’ she remarked as she walked past all the large homes of the area.  This section was for wealthier citizens, an area she’s never been to before.  Checking the address on her paper again, she finds the house she is looking for and knocks at the door.  A woman answers.
“May I help you?”
“Um, hi, I’m looking for Inuyasha.  He was absent today and I wanted to give him his school work, so he doesn’t miss anything.”
“Oh, that’s really sweet of you but, he’s um not feeling well.  I wouldn’t want you to catch his cold.”
“It’s really not a problem, I’m sure it would be okay, Miss?”
“Kagura.”
“It’s nice to meet you Kagura, my name is Kagome.”
“Ah, so you are Kagome…”  the woman smiles as she looks the nervous girl up and down.  “Yes, Inuyasha has mentioned you.”
“It’s really important I see him and,” she glances around, “I know he’s ‘different,’ so please could I speak with him?”
“He told you, has he?  I’m not surprised.” The woman sighs, “Sometimes he has a hard time coping with that,” and steps back from the door.  “Well come in, Kagome, let me show you to his room.”
As Kagome follows the woman up a set of stairs to the second floor she can’t help but gasp at the grand furnishings of the home.  “This is a beautiful home.  Are you Inuyasha’s sister-in-law?”
“Why yes, I am,” the woman smiles, “Sesshomaru is my mate.”
“So, does that mean you are a yokai too?”
“Something like that…” she points at a closed door, “He’s in there.”
“Thank you.”  After the woman walks away Kagome knocks.
“Kagura, I’d rather not be bothered.”
“Inuyasha?”
“Kagome?!”  The door pulls open, “What are you doing here?”
Her eyes widen at the sight before her, “Inuyasha?  Is that you?”  Gone is the white hair and golden eyes, the claws, but instead a totally normal looking human teenage boy!  His hair is black and a slightly different style...  and his eyes are dark too.  ‘His ears are gone…’  Her mouth hangs open just a little the longer she stares…
“Keh!  If all your gonna do is gawk at me then go home.”
That attitude brings her out of her shock.  “Well how am I supposed to act!  I wasn’t expecting…” she waves her hands up and down motioning to his appearance, “…this!”
“Keep your voice down!” he pulls her into the room and closes the door.  “I don’t need my brother coming to bug me with questions.”  Plopping on his bed.  “So, what are you doing here?”
“You were absent from school and I was worried about you.”
“Well as you can see I’m fine.”
“But you’re…”
“Human.”  She nods...  “Look I’m part human so once a month, during the new moon I lose my yokai side and change to this state…” …but continues to scrutinize his appearance.  “Will you stop staring at me!”
“Sorry,” she averts her eyes embarrassed.  “It’s just, you look so different.  Well not totally but…” she pouts, “I kinda like your other side better.”
“You do?” his eyes register his shock.  “Why?”
Kagome sits next to him on the bed, “I don’t know, it’s just different than most people, you know, and intriguing…” her face flushes a little.  “Not that this look is bad or anything…   I think you look fine either way.”
“You think I’m cute, that’s what you’re trying to say aren’t you.”
“I-I didn’t say that…” her face turning more crimson, “Okay so I think you are attractive, I mean hell, half the girls at school think that.”
“Yeah, but I have no interest in what they think.”
“You care what I think?”
“What!  I didn’t say that either.”
“Oh…” she looks down a little embarrassed and dejected.  “Well, um since you seem fine, I guess I’ll head home now…” and stands to leave.  “I’ll see you at school.”
“Wait, Kagome, you don’t have to leave yet.”  She stops walking.  “I don’t go out when I’m like this, but you can stay and hang out if you want to.”
“Are you sure?”  when he nods, “Okay…” she sits back on his bed.  “So, what do you do when you’re stuck in here?”
He shrugs his shoulders, “Watch TV, play video games, listen to music, whatever.  Sometimes it is kinda boring by myself.  I actually hate it when I get like this, I lose my abilities and I feel vulnerable; that’s why I don’t go out.”
“Have you been attacked or something?”
“Not recently, but in the past, yeah, it was more dangerous for me.  Sesshomaru has had to fend off a few rogue yokai’s...”
~~~
Downstairs in his office, Kagura peeks in with her husband.  “Thought you’d like to know, that Kagome girl came to see Inuyasha.”
He looks up from his desk.  “Really?”
“She seems nice and since she never came back down screaming, everything must be fine.”
“You didn’t warn her that he would look different?”
“No, I wanted to gauge her reaction and so far, I think she’s good for him.”
“She’s the first human he’s allowed to get so close, since that miko years ago.”
“I think Kagome looks like her.”
“Hmm…  Maybe that’s why he was fascinated with her…”
“I think he actually likes this one…”
~~~
Back in his room, Inuyasha has leaned up against the wall with game controllers in his hands and Kagome is lying on her stomach with a textbook in front of her.  “Don’t you need to study, Inuyasha?”
“What for?”
“There’s a test coming up at the beginning of next week, that’s why.”
“Keh, I’ll be fine, I always am.”
“I still think it’s strange… for as long as you’ve lived, why you’re still attending school.”
“It’s part of my cover, you know, to blend in to this city.  I look like I should be a high school student, so my brother insisted I enroll.”
“Does that mean you already know how to do all of this stuff?” gesturing at the textbook.
“For the most part, yeah.”
“Lucky.  I don’t mind most of the subjects, but I despise math.”
“Oh, I’m not fond of that subject either.”  There’s a knock on the door.
“Inuyasha?”  It’s his brothers voice.  “Would you or your friend like some dinner?”
He looks at Kagome, who nods, whispering, “If it’s no trouble…”
“None at all,” Sesshomaru responds.  “Come down in half an hour to the dining room.”
~~~
Somewhat of an odd sight, the four dinner guests sitting around a large dining table meant for double that.  No plates in front of the two older residents, only her and Inuyasha.  But the food looked wonderful, and smelled just as tasty.
“So, Kagome,” inquires Sesshomaru from across the dining table, “Inuyasha mentioned you are from the Higurashi shrine.”
“Yes, my family has been its caretakers for two generations and my brother will be groomed to take it over one day.”
Kagura, “Why him and not you?”
“Me?” Kagome puts her chopsticks down, “Why me?”
“Surely you realize that you are the one with the miko abilities in your family.”
“I think Inuyasha pointed that out once, but I don’t know if it’s something I want to do.”
“You and my brother seem to be growing quite close…” Sesshomaru smirks, “…it’s nice to see him moping around less than usual.”
Kagome blushes.  “Well, I just thought he could use a friend.”
“Could we stop with the questions…” Inuyasha grumbles.
“We are just trying to get know her better, I don’t see what is wrong with that.”
Inuyasha starts to open his mouth but Kagome grabs his hand, “I don’t mind.”
Kagura smiles, “You see, Kagome, it’s been a long time since Inuyasha has opened up to anyone from the outside so it’s a nice change for us.  You must be something special in his eyes.”
“Keh!” he turns his head to hide the reddening of his face.  “She’s the one who wouldn’t leave me alone in the beginning.”
“Hey, you bumped into me first!  Remember?”
“That was an accident!”
“Don’t lie, just like how you said you weren’t bothered by Houjou asking me out; I know it was bull!”
All through the argument, Sesshomaru and Kagura sat in silence watching the show unfold.  It didn’t even cross their minds to stop it, but on the contrary, the elder Inu found it amusing that a girl was going toe to toe with his brother.  “I think you’re right,” he whispers to his wife, “they like each other.”
“I said I didn’t care!  You forget, you called me cute first!”
“When did I say that?!”
“In your room, after I left…”  his eyes widen when he realizes he was just caught.
“You were spying on me?!”
Crossing his arms, “No I wasn’t, I was just making sure you went to sleep…  How was I supposed to know you were gonna keep talking about me!”
“I hate to interrupt this amusing conversation…” Sesshomaru finally steps in, “but your dinners are getting cold.”  Inuyasha and Kagome stop and look to their plates while the elder brother just chuckles.  “I suggest a change in subject.”  The pair start eating again.  The young girl is a little embarrassed that she behaved in such a rude manner, but at least no one seemed to care.  “Kagome, since it is dark already and not safe for you to travel by public transportation, would you like a ride home, or maybe you could just spend the night.”
“I um, would have to check with my mom about sleeping over.”
Kagura, “If you’d like, I could speak with her, to allay her concerns.”
Kagome looks at Inuyasha who has that deer in head lights look, then back to Kagura, “Okay.”
“Wonderful, what is your phone number, I’ll call her while you finish your dinner.”  She stands up and leaves the room once Kagome gives her the information.
Now the young girl turns back to her friend, “But I don’t have anything to sleep in or to take a bath.”
“You can just use Kagura’s stuff and I can lend you a shirt or something.”
The thought of wearing something of Inuyasha’s makes the girl blush.  “I’ve never slept over at a boy’s house before.”
“Well it’s not like I’m gonna do anything to you.”
“I would hope not.”
Kagura walks back in.  “Your mom is so sweet.  I told her we’d bring you home tomorrow and she said that was fine, just have fun.”
At that point Sesshomaru takes Inuyasha to have a talk with him and Kagura leads Kagome to a spare room.  Pointing to an adjoining room, “it is stocked with soaps and such when you are ready to take a bath.  I hate to let you feel dirty, I think I have underwear that will fit you.”  She returns with undergarments.  “I shall leave you for the rest of the evening, but if you need anything else, please do not hesitate to ask.”
“Thank you Kagura.”
When she walks out of the room, Inuyasha is trudging up the stairs.  “Um Inuyasha, could I borrow a shirt, so I can change and take a bath?”
“Yeah…” he saunters into his room and pulls out an oversized t-shirt, handing it to her.
“Thank you.”
“Um, Kagome, do you wanna still hang out some more afterwards?”
“Of course,” she smiles.
“Cool, I’ll just be in my room then.”
“Aren’t you gonna bathe too?”
“I guess I could do that at the same time as you.” He turns bright red, “I mean in my own bathroom!  Not with you…  Oh hell!” he rushes to his room embarrassed.
Kagome, stands stupefied for a second processing what just happened, ‘that was awkward…’ and goes into her own room.
After the relaxing bath, thankfully, Kagura’s panties fit her but Inuyasha’s shirt was another matter.  Staring at herself in the mirror, she couldn’t help but chuckle at how much of a dress it was on her; loose and comfortable to sleep in for sure.  But there was one potential issue… no bottom.  Kagura didn’t strike her as the type to wear shorts and there was no way she’d fit one of Inuyasha’s.  ‘Well… at least it comes down to my knees…’
By the time Kagome went back to Inuyasha’s room it was nearing 10pm.  As soon as he saw her in his shirt he was both smitten and bemused by how it looked on her and she could see that on his face.  “I know I look weird…”
“No, it’s adorable...”  ‘Shit, I didn’t mean to say that out loud!’  He shakes his head, “I mean, it looks fine on you.”
‘Adorable, huh?’  she raises an eyebrow.  “What do you wanna do now?”
“I don’t know,” he shrugs his shoulders, “It’s not like I’ve had company before.”
“Do you wanna play a game or something?” She plops on his bed.
“Not really.”
“Listen to music or watch TV?” he shakes his head no.  “Just talk?”
“About what?”
“I don’t know…” she sighs and lies on her side with her head propped up with a pillow, “tell me more about your life, in 200 years there’s gotta be some stories you can tell me.”
He lies on his back next to her and puts his arms behind his head.  “My mom was a human Princess and my dad was called the Inu no Taisho.  He ruled over the Western part of Japan, keeping the peace between the yokai in the area and the humans.  One day on a journey he met my mom and they ended up falling in love, hence my existence.  But at the time, feudal Japan was a more war-like state and after battling a very powerful demon, he was fatally wounded.  My mom raised me until I was about 7 when she died of what today they call cancer.”
“So how is Sesshomaru your brother?”
“My father had a yokai mate already, they called her the Inu Daiyokai and he is their first and only son; so that makes him my half-brother.  After both my parents died he took me on as a promise to our father.  Sesshomaru was already two or three hundred years old by this time but more mature than I am, he says.  Every so many years, he moves us around so that we don’t attract attention.”
“What does he do?  This is quite a large home…”
“Oh, he has several businesses that he runs from here.  I don’t know a lot about it since he won’t tell me much and I don’t ask.  He’s paying for everything, so I just leave him alone and with the advent of computers and phones and stuff it’s become easier to do that.  Oh, and he also had to take on the responsibilities left by our dad as the Inu no Taisho.”
“Okay, so explain to me exactly what does that mean?”
“He keeps many of the other yokai’s and hanyo’s in control, away from humans as much as possible.  If any of them cause problems, he takes care of it.”
“Sounds like a lot of work.”
“Yeah it is.  Every so often, I help him deal with issues.”
Kagome yawns, “So did you have to fight battles and stuff?”
“Sometimes.”
“Ever get hurt…” she yawns again but bigger this time.
“Eh…” he shrugs his shoulders, “Nothing I couldn’t handle.”
“That’s good…” her eyes begin to droop.  “You wouldn’t be here talking to me now if…  it had been worse…”
“Yeah…” he sighs and closes his eyes for a moment.  “I’m kinda glad that I’ve met you.  It’s really, nice to have someone other than my brother and stuff to talk to.  Do you feel the same way?”  No response so he opens his eyes and looks over to the girl curled on his bed.  “Kagome?”  She had fallen asleep.  “Great…” he mumbles, “I should take her to her room…”  He sits up and pokes at her shoulder.   “Kagome?”
“Mmm…” she whines but instead of waking she turns over and further hunkers down on his bed.
“Oh man…” he runs his hand over his face, “Now what?”  Faced with a situation he’s never dealt with before, Inuyasha debates his next move.  ‘I could just take her to her room…  But…’ as he stares down at the sleeping beauty, the attraction he had felt for her intensifies.  Something deep inside is urging him to let her stay…. is coaxing him to savor her presence…  Sighing, ‘I hope she doesn’t freak out in the morning…’
~~~
Kagome groans in her troubled slumber…
Smoke fills the air of the burning homes where a rogue yokai has been ransacking and killing the villagers.  As a miko, she had been asked to please rid them of this terrible demon… and now…  She looks down at her trembling hands and sees the deep red staining them… falling to her side, ‘it’s so strange to feel no pain…’  Her eyes can barely focus but sees the hanyo draw his sword and cut down the yokai that she had been battling…
‘Kikyo!’  Inuyasha rushes to her side and cradles her.  ‘Kikyo!’  He cries out once more as the blood pools beneath her.
...twisting and moaning…  “Inuyasha…”
‘Inuyasha, I’m… sorry…’
‘Why didn’t you wait for me!  Why’d you have to fight that demon on your own!’
She lifts her hand to his face with the last of her strength.  ‘The villagers are safe now thanks to you…  Perhaps, we shall meet again… in another…’ her eyes close for the last time.
Gasping for air, Kagome bolts upright in bed grabbing onto her chest and checking desperately to gauge the severity of her afflicted wound.  This sudden action startles Inuyasha awake.  She can still feel the heat of the fires, smell the smoke permeating the air.  “Kagome!” he shakes her.  “Wake up!”
“But the wound…  Oh no the villagers, the fire was burning all the homes!” she looks Inuyasha straight in his eyes.  “a-and I-I died, in your arms… I don’t understand… It’s was so real… I can smell the smoke, I can still smell the smoke!”  Tears stream down her face.  “It was like it was really happening…”
“It’s okay…” he rocks her in his arms.  “You were just having a nightmare, that’s all.  See, your still in my room, the sun hasn’t risen yet and there’s nothing to hurt you here.”
Her sobbing winds down as she rests her head on his shoulder.  “It was so scary…  I-I actually felt my heart stop beating…” she leans up to look in his eyes with only the faintest of illumination from the streetlights outside allowing her to see them, “You were there, Inuyasha, but you kept calling me a different name.”
The sudden realization hits him like a ton of bricks; a wound, fire in a village, and her dying in his arms…  “Kikyo…” he breathes out the name as his own eyes begin to fog over.  “But how could you have known what happened to her?  That was over 100 years ago.”
“How the hell should I know!” her cries ring in his ears.  “Who is this Kikyo and why the hell was I experiencing it like I was there?”
“Maybe because…” he sighs, “you were…”
She stops crying, “What?”
Exhale.  “I’ve only loved one other person in this world and she…” he hangs his head, “…she died fighting a yokai before I could get to her.”  Exhale.  “Kikyo was a, a miko in a village that used to be on the grounds of this very city.  In fact, she was the priestess at the shrine your family now cares for and you just described, how she died…”  Kagome is so shocked and overwhelmed, she faints in his arms and slips into a dreamless unconsciousness.
~~~
When she awakens for the second time that morning the first thing she notices is the surrounding warmth and finds herself lying on her side with Inuyasha spooned up from behind, his arms wrapped tightly around as if to keep her from leaving him.  Recollections of her dream flood back to her, or were they memories?  She feels him shifting, snuggling his face deeper against her neck and blushes once she realizes the position they are in.  Part of her wants to scream and kick him away but the other tells her this feels, ‘as if it was meant to be…’  Some of his white hair falls over her shoulder telling her he is back to his normal self; if he wasn’t holding on so tight she’d be tempted to turn around and rub his ears.  Well if she’s gonna be stuck in this position she might as well enjoy it, so she presses her body snuggly against his.
“You smell nice…” his voice rumbles softly against her ear.  She hums in delight, no one’s given her that line before!  Despite the rocky beginnings, Kagome can’t deny the electricity between them, but is this really meant to be?  Can a hanyo and a human have a relationship like this?  Questions bubble to the surface of her mind.  How would it work, I mean he barely ages and she will continue to…  She sighs…  “Are you uncomfortable,” he asks, concern dripping in the inflection of his tone.
“No, that’s not it.  I was just thinking…”
“That this all seems crazy?”
She chuckles, “Hmm, well that too, but no, something else.”
“What?” the raspy tone of his morning voice makes her shiver down to her core.
“How can this be a possibility, a hanyo, and a human?” trepidation evident in her voice.  “I really… like how you make me feel but it scares me too.”
“Because we don’t age…”
“Exactly.”
“You don’t need to worry about that Kagome.” He squeezes her waist.  “If the day comes that you want to stay with me, there is a way for you to live as long as I do.”
“Tell me how?”
“When that time comes…”
“Mmm…  Inuyasha, do you think I have a connection to that Kikyo person?”
“Maybe, you do look a little like her… and smell like her.  But you’re, feistier.”
She laughs, “Is that a good thing or a bad thing?”
“Jury is still out.”
“Omph!” she slaps his arm.  “Really!”
“I wouldn’t let you be here… right now, if I didn’t mind it.”
Sigh, “I almost wish I didn’t have to go home…”
“Me too…”

Poll Questions/Comments:
I will be putting all questions and comments from polls here with my replies! :)
[More under the cut]
Hope you had a great time on your trip!
I did! I already miss Japan! It is a second home to me now since my study abroad, and it is a lovely country. Of course it has its flaws, too like all other countries, but Osaka/Kyoto are by far my favorite cities. They are beautiful, and their people are so nice. Not to mention, my Japanese apparently has gotten better? I didn’t even realize it I had been speaking it so normally in there. A cute grandpa in the train to Kyoto has asked in English where we were from, and I guess he heard the way I said ‘America’ because in Japan it is pronounced ‘Amerika’ and he got excited. He asked if I knew Japanese, and I said a little bit, so we began to communicate, and would smile brightly each time. This old man made the long ride to Kyoto so worth it and go by so quickly <3 At the end he said ‘Welcome to Japan!’ and I thanked him with a bow, and he said my Japanese was well spoken.
After that, I bought a few things in a Kyoto store for my mother, and when paying, I replied in Japanese for what I was looking for, and the employee also got excited. I don’t know, but it makes me feel good knowing I am learning another language, and people are understanding me because I remember back in my study abroad a friend of mine said “I like how you pretend to know Japanese and nod your head to make them believe it.” But in reality...I know what they are saying. My listening is good, my speaking and writing is what needs work. Well the employee said my Japanese was beautiful.
Lastly, I decided to rent a kimono to walk around Kyoto, and the employees at the store were amazed that I knew Japanese. The manager (a man) continued to speak to me casually, and helped me put colors together for a kimono. At the end when we came to return it, all the employees flocked to hear me speak ha-ha. I got nervous a bit and blanked, but he asked where I learned Japanese to know so much, and I said self-taught but that I had also study abroad last year in Kwansei Gakuin which he said he was surprised. They all said I was doing a good job, and they hoped I would come back (I hope so!). All of this happened in one day so it really made my day <3 Sorry I rambled...
This question has nothing to do with this but I want to ask anyway. Uhm...please tell me when you're going to update your IYxShokugeki no Soma crossover in fanfiction.net! (I really love that series!) Thanks. 😊
Ah~ Sweet and Spice, huh? Heehee...and I have an urge to write more of it with the third season going on, and Azami finally making his debut (along with one of my favorite characters *cough* a certain silver haired boy). Pure Rukh will be updated first, and I am unsure if to update Dimensional Lovers next as that one has waited to be updated. If you check my blog, it is a crossover with Barakamon I have had stuck in my head and finally got done to write an outline for it, which I am nervous about. So maybe during writing Dimensional Lovers I will hold another poll (but Cruel Ties also needs to get updated because people don’t really vote for it, and I can understand why due to the slow beginning).
Will Sesshomaru and the others really be in Pure Rukh? Will be there be a sequel to the Love Hoop story? And... *cue drum rolls* I LOVE YOUR WRITING. You are actually one of the many people that inspired me to consider creative writing to be one of my careers. I love the way you write and it's so descriptive I can picture in my head because mind you, I only know what the characters look like; I did not watch Kuroko no Basuke, so kudos to you since I am also a picky reader.
Well, to be honest, I haven’t decided whether to have Sesshomaru and the others in Pure Rukh. It is a risk to take with the plotline I have in mind. *whisper* a little secret on how I write...I never have a concrete plot and just go along with what occurs in my head with details I want to specifically cover hehehe...Now the Love Hoop sequel. I will be rewatching the movie maybe tomorrow and think about it. I will start my new job in Monday (which I am nervous over and I am already thinking I’m gonna fail. Hate my anxiety). I wish I could find some kind of job that allows me to write a story or something, but I always think my ideas are not enough...but I am happy to hear you are pursuing it! It makes me happy to hear you enjoy my writing and it influences people to try it themselves. Really, nothing makes me happier than hearing my readers go for their dreams.
Hmm... random suggestion here but I'd like to see a little more Nougami Neuro. Give it some thought??
You know I am a big fan of it, and other underrated anime. I would have to rewatch it to see if I can at least get some kind of one-shot idea? Other anime I want to write for is Kekkai Sensen, One Piece, Gintama, Get Backers, and many others on my list hehehe.
Hey Mizu-chan, Bishonen'sFoxyMiko here. Saw the first ep of Ancient Magus' Bride earlier in October and LOVED it!😻 I truly look forward to a xover with the series 😍😘
Oh I am in love with this series! I immediately thought of a crossover, so...I know it will be good. Well, the music is beautiful, and the art is amazing. I am going to start reading it!

Prompt: A small mountain town finds themselves welcoming a new resident and his daughter, but what effect will this have on the other residents? On you? Welcome to Crawford. Word Count: 1767 Warnings: None Author’s Note: Part 9!
@wonders-of-the-enterprise I love you.
Masterlist
With the snow finally letting up after breakfast there was absolutely no school, all the parents had been called early in the morning only hours after the two of you had gotten back from the walk. “Y/N, I couldn’t reach Dr. McCoy and I don’t want him to try and bring Joanna in. Do you have a better number for him?”
“They got stuck here last night after dinner, I’ll let them know.” The teacher thanked you and rolled back over falling asleep instantly.
At least two feet had fallen over the night and it hadn’t let up until after breakfast, Oliver was more than excited to show his friend the fun of a snow day and had wolfed down his food. Within moments of them getting outside both kids were covered in the powder squealing in delight.
You kept the giggling to a minimum as you bent down and pulled your boots on before scooping up a handful of the snow and tip toeing over to Leonard who had offered to do the dishes. Quickly sliding your hand up the back of his shirt you held the snow up to his hot skin feeling it melt between your fingers.
The scream was loud enough that you immediately ran a few steps away now laughing loudly. “I’ll get you for that!”
“Gonna have to catch me first!” Taking the opportunity you ran into the back yard tossing arm fulls of snow at the kids as you ran past.
Leonard followed a moment later with his own boots and jumped through the snow to you. His legs were longer so it was easier for him to run and even though you had a head start you felt his arms wrap around your waist and throw you into the snow.
Both of you laid in the snow laughing until snowballs started raining down around you and Leonard went from attacking you to protecting you with his arm over your head. “Let’s get them!” You called grabbing a fistfull of snow and lobbing it in front of you.
The fight only lasted a few minutes until the cool air started chilling your wet clothes and the adults retreated back inside.
“I have some oversized shirts and sweatpants upstairs, you can’t stay in those clothes.” He followed and you dug through the closet finding them and tossing them over. “I’ll change in the bathroom, then some hot chocolate to warm up.”
At the end of it, the snow day had been a success with both the McCoys exhausted from the day. But the plows had come through and before dinner time it was safe for them to head home. Hugging them both you couldn’t keep a smile off your face just thinking about the time spent together.
It was another few days before you had a day off and decided to stop by to see Leonard.
“What are you doing here?” He asked accepting your hug. “I didn’t think I’d get to see you today.”
“I have the day off, figured I’d stop by and see if you needed any help. Since you’re still running this place by yourself and all.” You hung up your purse and jacket obviously set on doing whatever needed done. “You don’t have to pay me.”
He scoffed handing over some files. “I can’t let you do the work for free either.”
“What did you have in mind?”
This was his chance. You were leaning forward just the slightest, your hair twirling around a finger, and mouth slightly open. “Let me make you dinner.”
“Didn’t we already have dinner plans set for this week?”
“No, I mean yeah we do. What I mean is...let me make you dinner without the kids.” Your eyebrows rose and he felt a little bit self-conscious. “If you’d let me, of course, I don’t want to make you uncomfortable or make it awkward when our kids see each other. It’s just...Y/N I like you.”
The words sunk in and after a few seconds you smiled. “I would love to have dinner with you.”
Oliver’s grandmother had been wanting to meet Joanna and you offered to ask if they would host a night for the kids. After that, the two of you set out to finish and file the paperwork Leonard had sitting around and you did as much as you could while he saw a few patients.
At the end of the night, you kissed his cheek and promised to see him the next day. Leonard stood in the doorway of his office watching you drive off and feeling like his heart was full.
“I knew it.”
Rolling your eyes you set the kids bags down in the entryway, you had picked up both Oliver and Joanna letting them play for a bit before dropping them off at Mike’s for dinner. “Shut up, you didn’t know anything.”
“Think that you want, but I know you better than you think Y/N.” Not wanting to hide it, and being absolutely unable to lie to Oliver’s grandmother, the news had come out of your mouth almost instantly. “I’ll drop them off at the doc’s around 9 so anything you don’t want them to see should be over before then.”
“It’s dinner Mike.” Giving him one last hug you turned to leave. “The kids don’t know by the way, don’t tell them anything.”
Sticking his head out of the mostly closed door you could only smile at his cheer. “Go get him tiger!”
You knocked on the front door and it opened almost immediately letting you step into the house and shed your coat. Leonard’s eyes raked over you taking in the outfit you had chosen to wear, usually he saw you in jeans and sweatshirts to casually hang out but now you were wearing a pair of skinny jeans and bright tank top under a grey cardigan. “You look great.”
Stepping up to plant a kiss on his cheek you smiled. “So do you. Need any help?”
“Absolutely not, dinner’s almost ready so for now these are for you.” A glass of your favorite red appeared in your hand and a bouquet of beautiful flowers sat on the table in a vase. Pulling out your chair he had an obvious idea of how the night was going. “Now, have a seat and I’ll get everything plated.”
It was amazing how much a place could change just on the atmosphere. Leonard had invited you and Oliver over for dinner at least every other week but tonight he had made his house into a romantic scene with the flowers and some candles on the already set table. “I really don’t mind helping.”
“Out of the question, this is our first date and I plan on making an impression.” As if he hadn’t already made enough of an impression on you, Leonard emerged from the kitchen carrying two plates and set one in front of you. “Steak, cooked the way you like, with garlic butter melted on top and for sides mashed potatoes and garlic green beans.”
The food looked and smelled delicious, you weren’t really sure how you were going to be able to eat it everything just looked so amazing. “You really outdid yourself.”
“Well I couldn’t keep feeding you pancakes.” Since they were Joanna’s favorite, that was what was served most often.
“I wouldn’t mind eating pancakes for the rest of my life.” Leonard’s fork was hanging out of his mouth and you realized exactly what you’d said. “I mean...well...wow, how did I forget how to talk to you?”
You both laughed and it felt like a wave of tension just left the room. “I knew what you meant when you said it, but now that we’re having an actual date it just sounded...different.”
“Here’s to a great first date.” You held your glass up to his and drank hoping that the toast would help lighten the rest of the mood.
After dinner was done the two of you went into the living room and relaxed deciding to get to know more about each other outside of what had already been said.
“So you stole the horse?” You had switched to water long ago, but it felt like you were drunk with how much  you were laughing. “What did Ellie say?”
Leonard shook his head remembering the day. “She was pissed, to be sure. Took a switch right to me didn’t even wait for the police to leave. What about you, any trouble with the law?”
“Here it’s hard to get into any trouble, I did get thrown out of a bar in New Haven though.”
His eyes widened in shock. “How’d that happen!”
“I was getting a drink and some guy came over and started hitting on me, but he was using those stupid one-liners you think only exist in movies. So, he comes over and starts asking if it hurt when I fell from heaven and asking if I need help finding my wings, and the guy won’t take no for an answer.” Leonard was leaning forward listening intently. “Eventually I’d just had enough and told him that if he came any closer I was gonna break his nose.”
“I’m guessing he tried his luck.”
You nodded leaning forward just the smallest bit. “He got blood all over his shirt and I was kicked out, but not before the bartender high-fived me for it.”
When you looked back at Leonard his face was directly in front of yours and the breath you had been taking caught in your throat. “You are absolutely stunning when you laugh like that.”
His fingers traced your jawline so gently that you just barely felt them, he was a doctor so you were sure he knew what to do with his hands. “No one’s said anything like that to me in years.”
You leaned in closer feeling his hand cup your jaw, just as you felt your lips brush against his the sound of car doors slamming grabbed your attention.
“To be continued.” He said with a sigh.
Getting the kids and thanking Mike, Leonard got Joanna to get ready for bed before walking you out to the car.
Once Oliver was buckled in you turned back towards your date. “So, how does a second date sound to you?” Leonard smiled and you leaned in to kiss his cheek, close enough to his mouth to tease and leave him wanting more. “I’ll see you tomorrow.”
The fresh pack of batteries you had bought definitely came in handy that night.

Red Strings- Chapter 6
I can’t just leave this hanging, now can I?
Tagging: @cstorm86 @inuyashaeienni @keichanz @sangoslays @dreaming-of-the-midnight-sun
Izayoi hummed as she stood in the bathroom behind her son, combing through his long, silvery tresses with the blow dryer while he sat down in front of her with nothing but a towel around his waist. "Thanks for helping me with my hair, Mom," Inuyasha said. "It's times like this I wish I didn't have such long hair." "Oh, don't be ridiculous," Izayoi said. "I love your hair." She then hugged the half-demon from behind, causing him to tense a little. "Oh, I'm so excited that you're going on your first date, again!" "Mom, will you cut it out?" asked Inuyasha. "I just met Kagome. I'm not dating her." "Whatever you say, honey," Izayoi said as she started to brush Inuyasha's hair down. "Haa...I remember when your father and I started dating. What a summer that was." "Oh, god," Inuyasha bemoaned. "But I'll talk about that later," said Izayoi as she reached into the drawer under the sink. "Now, where are those...oh, here we go!" She pulled out two small red scrunchies, which she tied up Inuyasha's hair with into a ponytail. Then, after she brushed it, she braided it before she tied up the end with a scrunchie, too. "There you go," she said. "Thanks, Mom," said Inuyasha as he stood up. "Now I gotta go get dressed." He walked out, only to stop and turn to face his mother and give her a quick peck on the cheek, causing her to smile.
XXX
"Dammit," Inuyasha cursed as he searched through his empty closet, wearing a pair of black jeans. "I'm all out of clean shirts." He then looked to a pile of dirty laundry...then sighed in indignation. "Man, I hate doing this." He then picked up a gray shirt with the word "WAN" on it before he took a whiff, only to gag and toss it back in the pile, then he picked up a simple dark red shirt and sniffed that one, then he nodded his head before he pulled it on, then walked up to the mirror to look himself over. Behind him, Taro lied on the bed, wagging his tail as he watched his master. "What do you think, Taro?" asked Inuyasha, causing the Akita to bark in response, which in turn prompted the half-demon to chuckle as he gently scratched the dog's neck. However, as Inuyasha looked up at the clock, he gasped. "Oh, shit, it's almost 1 o'clock!" he cried as he ran out, grabbing his coat from the rack as he did. "Bye, Taro!" Taro barked as he stood up from the bed while Inuyasha put on his shoes and headed out the front door. "Bye, Mom! Bye, Shippo!" he called. "Have a nice time!" called Izayoi before she sighed. "Oh, Shippo...isn't it great that Inuyasha's found somebody again?" "It's better than seeing him mope around, all day," Shippo acknowledged. "I think I like this Inuyasha better than the old one." "Me, too," Izayoi agreed. "Now, what do you say we have some ice cream?" "Yeah!" Shippo exclaimed in delight. XXX
Kagome sat on the park bench, dressed up in her usual coat, but also wearing a dark purple shirt, a pair of white pants underneath, and a pair of brown loafers. Many people walked by, but she was searching for one in particular. As she sat on the bench, she felt something seeming to tug at her finger, causing her to look down and see that red string, once again. She blinked at it before she followed its length...and sure enough, there he was: Inuyasha, walking toward her with his hands shoved down his coat pockets. Kagome smiled as she stood up as he drew nearer. "Hey, Inuyasha!" she greeted. "Hey," Inuyasha greeted back. "Sorry I'm late. Hope you weren't waiting too long." "Oh, it's okay," Kagome said. "I see you braided your hair." "My Mom helped," Inuyasha said. "I'd do it myself, but it's just so damn long, y'know? Sometimes I think I should cut it off." "Aww, but I like it," Kagome pouted. "It's pretty!" "Thanks," Inuyasha smiled. "So...where do you wanna go?" "Uh...honestly, I don't know," Kagome replied with a sheepish chuckle. "I was hoping you'd know." "Well...I guess we'll see where the day takes us," Inuyasha replied as he began to walk. "Come on, let's go." Kagome nodded before she and Inuyasha began to walk through the park. "So are you okay after yesterday?" Inuyasha asked. "Yeah, I'm okay, now," Kagome replied. "My boss let me take the day off, today, too." "You sure it's okay for you to be off work for a while?" asked Inuyasha. "I go back tomorrow," answered Kagome. "So...how are you? Is your shoulder okay?" "Yeah, the wound's pretty much gone now," said Inuyasha. "Koga sure can bite..." "...Koga," Kagome whispered. "You two sure seem to have it out for each other." "Keh!" Inuyasha scoffed. "I can take that scrawny wolf anytime." He then paused. "Umm...hey. You and Koga aren't a...a thing, are you?" "What?" Kagome asked before she gasped in realization. "Oh! Oh, no! No, no, no!" "Yeah, I thought so," Inuyasha replied. "I only ask because he sure got pissed seeing me with you...called you 'his girl'." "Ugh..." Kagome groaned. "Seriously, this again?" "Does he do this often?" asked Inuyasha. "More than I'd like," Kagome replied. "He's kinda got a crush on me, you see." "Hmph!" Inuyasha snorted. "Obsession is more like it..." "He's really very nice, half the time!" Kagome pointed out. "It's just...I only wish he wouldn't be so...umm...well...straightforward and forceful." "You gotta learn to put your foot down," Inuyasha said. "Just tell that wolf to take a hike." "Oh...I don't know," Kagome replied. "Oh, come on, it's not that hard," Inuyasha countered. "All you gotta do is let your beast out." "My...my beast?" Kagome repeated in bewilderment. "You gotta dig deep and be fierce!" Inuyasha answered. "You see, that's the problem with some humans. They think they can treat other demons like one of them, but that's what they take advantage of! It's fine if you treat him as your equal, but when he oversteps your boundaries, you gotta take a stand and tell him what for!" "Is that what happened to you, yesterday?" Kagome asked, causing Inuyasha's eyes to go wide as he stopped in his tracks. "...You saw that, huh?" he asked. "...I saw the part with the red eyes," Kagome answered. "What happened?" Inuyasha looked to the ground before he sighed. "...I'm a half-demon," he said. "That means I have both human and demon blood inside me...and sometimes, when I get too worked up...the demon in me comes out...and it's not pretty. Sesshomaru can transform, too, but only when he wants to...with me...it's like I'm a ticking time bomb and just about anything would set me off." "...Has this...happened before?" Kagome inquired. 'Stupid question, Kagome. It probably has.' "...More than I'd like," Inuyasha said. "Last time it happened, it was last year...my Dad actually had to put me in jail." "What?!" Kagome questioned. "That's awful!" "I know," Inuyasha replied as he looked down at his claws. "It was really bad...10 people were killed...by me." He then sighed. "I guess I can't blame him...no wonder he's always so disappointed in me..." He then closed his eyes. "His own son turned into a monster that he was forced to subdue." "...I don't think you're a monster," Kagome smiled. "...Really?" Inuyasha asked as he looked at her. "I...I don't scare you?" "I was startled, yesterday," Kagome began, "but I'm not scared of you." "...Kagome..." Inuyasha whispered in surprise as he stared into her chocolate brown eyes...before the corners of his mouth turned up in a smile. "Thank you." Kagome smiled as she took Inuyasha's hand in her own, causing him to gasp silently. It was warm and her skin was so smooth...unlike his own skin. It was rough and calloused and marred with tiny scars. He felt his cheeks grow warm as they flushed a light pink. Hell, even the tips of his ears turned pink...and Kagome felt her face flush, too. "Uh...we should, uh...we should probably go," Inuyasha said. "Right!" Kagome replied as they continued their walk. "...You know you're still holding my hand, right?" Inuyasha inquired. "Mm-hmm," Kagome nodded. "...Are you, uh...gonna let go?" "...Do you...want me to let go?" "...Not really." "Good, because I don't want to, either." "...Good." As they walked, Inuyasha felt his heart pounding in his chest as he looked at Kagome. 'Jeez, what is going on with me? She makes me feel so good about myself and happy...I haven't felt this way since I met Kikyo...and yet...it's different...it's new...and I like it.' He smiled a little as he gently squeezed Kagome's hand...who lightly squeezed his hand in turn. XXX "You're kidding!" "No, I swear to god!" Kagome laughed as she lightly pushed Inuyasha while holding a soft-serve strawberry ice cream cone in her hand while the half-demon held a vanilla ice cream cone. "Miroku actually made you do that?!" Kagome asked. "Hey, I was a stupid kid in high school," said Inuyasha, "but at least I won 500 yen from that bet!" He then burst out laughing along with Kagome. "Too bad I got grounded for 2 weeks afterward." Kagome giggled before she took a lick of her ice cream. "So...you got any embarrassing stories?" asked Inuyasha. "Oh, you don't wanna hear any of mine," said Kagome. "What?" Inuyasha questioned. "C'mon, I told you one of mine." "...Well..." Kagome muttered. "Okay, fine, but you can't tell anybody." "Secret's safe with me," Inuyasha replied, prompting Kagome to gesture him closely before she whispered something in his ear, causing him to gape. "What?!" "Yeah, that's what happened," Kagome nodded while Inuyasha laughed. "I don't believe it!" he exclaimed. "You of all people did that?!" "My Mom still doesn't know to this day," Kagome replied. "So don't ever tell her, got that?" "Cross my heart," Inuyasha said as he crossed his finger over his chest. "Hey, Kagome!" Kagome looked up to see Sango waving at her as she approached. "Sango!" Kagome waved back. "Sango...?" Inuyasha repeated. "I was wondering about you!" Sango said as she and Kagome hugged. "I went to your apartment but you weren't there." She then noticed Inuyasha. "Oh! Is this...?" "Sango, this is Inuyasha Taisho," Kagome introduced. "He's my new friend." "So this is Inuyasha," Sango said. "Come to think of it, I thought your name sounded familiar...aren't you friends with my boyfriend?" "Uh...yeah," Inuyasha replied. "That's me." "Kagome told me about how she helped you," said Sango. "Isn't she a saint?" "Aww, Sango," Kagome said, sheepishly. "Now you're just embarrassing me!" "Well, it's only because it's true," said Sango before she looked to Inuyasha. "So, how are things going between you two?" "We're just...you know, hangin' out," Inuyasha answered. "That's nice," Sango smiled. "I hope you treat Kagome well. She's like a sister to me." "So I've been told," said Inuyasha. "It's true," Kagome said. "Sango and I have been friends since we were kids." "Well, it's good to know that Kagome's got some good friends out there," Inuyasha acknowledged, causing Sango to chuckle. "Well, don't let me interrupt your day," she said before she prepared to walk past them. "Oh, and Inuyasha, go easy on Kagome or else I'm gonna have to kick your ass." Inuyasha chuckled a bit, which caused Sango to laugh as well...until she shot him a piercing glare. "I mean it," she said, causing the half-demon to gulp. "Uh...right," he muttered. "Bye, now!" Sango smiled before she left, which caused Kagome to sigh. "Sorry about Sango," she apologized. "She tends to worry about me." "No, I get it," Inuyasha replied. "She's just looking out for you...kinda like Miroku does, half the time." "Thanks for understanding," Kagome replied, but as they walked, they suddenly stopped in front of a building where they could hear the sound of deep, thumping music. The sign over the door said "Onigumo", along with a spider-shaped insignia next to it. "Onigumo?" Kagome repeated. "I've never heard of this place. Must be new." Inuyasha glared at the sign before he hooked his arm around Kagome's and walked forward, pulling her along. "Whoa!" Kagome cried as she accidentally dropped her ice cream. "H-hey! Inuyasha, what are you doing?!" "Just keep walking," Inuyasha told her. "Trust me...I just don't like the smell coming off that place." Kagome blinked at Inuyasha in perplexity...but with her arm pressed up against his torso, she could feel his chest rumbling as he growled, causing her to grip his arm before she glanced back at the building. For a moment, she felt this odd tingle down her spine...no...more like a chill. The kind of chill one would get when they felt something dangerous. Deciding it was best to heed Inuyasha's advice, Kagome kept walking while holding onto his arm. As they crossed the street together...a shadowy figure watched them from the top window of the building. The very room itself was filled with cigar smoke while the figure sat in his revolving chair, his leather shoes propped up against the wall. He chuckled as he took a drag of his cigar before he blew out a puff of smoke through his nose. "...Well, well...looks like Mr. Taisho's found himself a new playmate...and she looks like Kikyo, no less." He chuckled as he tapped his cigar, causing some ash to fall onto the tray. "How interesting..." XXX Later that day, just as the sun was setting, Inuyasha had brought Kagome back to the apartment complex. "Thanks for walking me back home," Kagome said. "No problem," said Inuyasha. "And...listen...about what happened at that building-" "No, Inuyasha, it's fine," Kagome said. "Honestly...I started getting bad vibes from it, too. I'm glad we got away from there before I got too curious." "Me, too," Inuyasha said. "So...maybe we do this again, sometime?" "Sure," Kagome nodded. "I'm not doing anything on Tuesday...maybe then?" "Maybe," Inuyasha replied. "I'll let you know if anything comes up." "...Sounds good," Kagome smiled as she stared into his golden eyes. "...Yeah," Inuyasha replied as he stared right back into her chocolate brown ones. He slowly reached his hand up and cupped her face, causing her to blush slightly. 'He's...he's so gentle...' Without even realizing it, Kagome closed her eyes, started to stand up on the tips of her toes, and puckered up her lips. Inuyasha blinked before he began to do the same, their faces just a mere inch away from each other...but then, he stopped, his eyes softening before he looked away. "I...Inuyasha?" Kagome asked in confusion. "I'm sorry," Inuyasha apologized. "I...I just feel like it's too soon, right now..." "...Oh," Kagome muttered. "I...I see. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to take things so quickly." "No, it's not you!" Inuyasha answered. "I swear! It's just..." He then sighed. "...I'm...I'm still trying to get over this relationship that I had, three years ago." "A relationship?" Kagome repeated, bewildered. "With who?" "...With Kikyo," Inuyasha replied, sadly. "She was my first girlfriend." "...What happened?" Kagome asked in concern. "...I can't say," Inuyasha answered. "It's...it's still too painful to talk about." He then turned his back toward her. "Let's just say...it was my fault." "...Inuyasha," Kagome whispered. "...I'm sorry," Inuyasha said. "I...I gotta go!" He then got up on the railing. "Wait!" Kagome cried, but the half-demon soon leaped away. "Wait, Inuyasha!!" But he was already too far away...causing Kagome to sigh as she felt her eyes well up. "...I'm sorry," she whispered, tearfully...while the red string around her finger fluttered in the wind. As for Inuyasha, he jumped from rooftop to rooftop, his coat flapping in the wind as he practically soared through the air...but as he flew, his vision blurred as tears stung at the corners of his eyes.
Aaaaaaand there go the feels.
Poor Inuyasha...and Kagome.
