“My five starts danmei novels.” Short, well, you do know, not short reasons why I like them.

🎋 —C Language Cultivation.

Programming? Cultivation? A pretty man with long hair? Fucking swipe my card— wait, I don't own a card... Anyways, you get my point!

This novel, C Language Cultivation, had all the possible elements to make it into the top of my favourite novels. Did it achieve it? Well, fellas, it is in the post for something!

Believe me, for a moment, I was crazy enough to think that studying Computer Science because of this book was a good idea of a degree (it is, but Angie is a literature girl), so Imagine how good it is.

If you're done with slow burn (I'm never done with slow burn, but there are times when I appreciate a couple who gets straight to the point), read C Language Cultivation! Dong Jun and Lin Xun had THEE tension going on from the moment they've met, and I was screaming with every single interaction.

I believe this novel had one of the best plot twists I've read in my entire life (and I've been reading since I was 10, guys, 10 years old!). I was literally staring into the wall, trying to process what I've just read. I still can't believe how it fucking played with me.

Alas, Dong Jun and I share birthdays! Do you need another reason to start reading it, like, mmm, NOW?

🎋 —Beyond The Outline.

Grab yourself to something because this is the second, THE SECOND novel with almost no angst (there are sad moments, but it's mostly cute) that I ranked as a five starts book. The author? Obviously, Mu Gua Huang.

You see, guys, Mu Gua Huang makes me love happiness and to be quite addicted to it. Once I started this novel, I would keep reading it until 5 a.m., and it was worth it!

Beyond The Outline has a precious message behind the hilarious and mysterious situation where two high school students, completely opposite from each other, switch bodies after being hit by lightning. I was this emoji 🥺 all the time.

I love this couple. Shao Zhan 🤧, look, I don't mean to spoil you, but he does something that I was like, “No man will do this for me never. He's the last romantic.” He's the best boy and the best boyfriend. If someone hates him, they seriously need some help.

🎋 —Alpha Predator.

No carrd, unfortunately.

Some of you may say, “Angie, didn't you review this novel before?” And I will do it again.

Alpha Predator is the last novel of the 188男团 (if you don't know, basically, the gongs are all 188 and scummy) and the best I've read from Suida. This book basically fell from the sky for me. I was on a reading block (is that the right term in English?) and needed something that made me retake my usual reading rhythm. May I aggregate that this has been the best novel I read in 2023 by so far? It is.

As the title suggests, Alpha Predator is an ABO world where rank plays an important role in society. The ML and scummy gong (mi bebé solo estaba jugando) is an S class Alpha, which means he is the one on top of the pyramid. I love Qu Moyu, and I am willing to defend him with my life. I accept that I tweeted that he was a stupid Alpha, but we all make mistakes, hahaha.

I love QuShen. 💜 They are my favourite 188 couple, and the best, in my not so humble opinion. They admire each other, and they come to love each other despite all the misunderstandings, and that makes me 🤧.

If you like scummy gongs and trust my taste, give it a try!

🎋 —Po Yun.

What do we have here? My last reading, the best crime book, and the novel that made me couldn't look my chemistry teacher straight in the eye! The last point is kind of a long story that I'll tell you some other day.

Anyways, who are these sexy gentlemen? I'll introduce you to Yan Xie and Jiang Ting, the protagonists and couple of Po Yun!

I have great memories of reading this novel. I remember sending voice messages to one of my friends about this book: “Girl, you wouldn't believe what just happened...” Dalia and I agree that this is an amazing book.

I also found it quite realistic in the aspect of how much can drugs fuck up someone's life. I won't elaborate on this because it's spoiler, but you will piece a lot of things once you know about a certain character past.

As for the romance, AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA, WHY THE FUCK I WASN'T IN THAT WEDDING. I WOULD HAVE CRIED WHILE DRINKING EXPENSIVE WINE (I don't even like wine). They're HOT and they LOVE each other.

🎋 —First-Class Lawyer.

Look, maybe I wouldn't have dropped out of law school if it were as entertaining as this novel, but it wasn't in my case. Putting that new fun fact about me aside, welcome to First-Class Lawyer by Mu Su Li.

This novel is set in a futuristic environment, so Yan Suizhi and Gu Yan are not just lawyers but interstellar lawyers. Amazing, isn't it? The mystery involves the other planets, so you'll see them space-travelling to find out the truth. And if that didn't sell you, Yan Suizhi is “dead.” Yup, our main character was awakened from death and put in another body in the first chapter. As the critics (me) say, “You know the book is good when the author kills the protagonist in the first page.”

The couple, aw. Imagine having someone you could tell anything, it doesn't matter how insignificant it is, and that they listen to you and that they love you so much —that's Gu Yan and Yan Suizhi. They're also teacher × student, from those who like that kind of dynamic!

As I told you in the beginning, this is written by Mu Su Li, author of QQGK, which means it is freaking good!

Some of you may be wondering, “Where the fuck is BAB?” I'M WAITING FOR OFFICIAL ART. 😭 HOW AM I SUPPOSE TO ART BAIT YOU IF THERE IS NO OFFICIAL ART???? /cries in it's my favourite book and it doesn't have art even though it was signed to a lot of publications

2022 Candy Year In Review

As a way to cap off the year, I thought it would be nice to go over all the LLD candy from 2022! There were a ton of little ones (read: kadians, matching clothing, possible hickies, sunset photos, etc.), so this will just be focusing on the larger notable ones. They’re all dated and in chronological order, because I’m me.

Remember to take these with a grain of salt. Enjoy~

January 23rd → Gong Jun’s studio Weibo posted his 2021 year in review video, completely leaving out August despite him having had two livestreams, a song release, and a reality show air during that month.

January 29th → Gong Jun posted a commercial for KFC to his Douyin where he rips dates off a calender that has 1 and 5 missing. (No one talks about this one but it’s one of my favourites. 🥺💕)

February 14th → Gong Jun posted a commercial to his Weibo at 11:29, then posted two photos of himself to Weibo at 13:14 (kadian for “forever”), then posted the same to his Instagram at 13:15, using the kadians to make the sequence “Gong Jun forever Zhang Zhehan”. The photos had been taken at Xiao Yu Hill in Qingdao at almost the exact location that Zhehan had taken photos at in 2018.

His Weibo post had the caption “Happy Valentine’s Day [11 husky emojis]”, the same caption he had used in 2021. Some people noted that “Zhang Zhehan” is eleven letters long, and interpreted the use of the same caption as a way of saying that nothing has changed.

March 5 → Gong Jun posted a vlog with Nancy Mulligan by Ed Sheeran as one of the BGM, a song about a couple eloping during the Northern Ireland conflict. Fans found that one of the top comments on the song on Netease is “When China allows homosexuals to get married, I will play this song at our wedding,” and the song has widely been adopted by the gay community for its message of marrying and growing old together despite societal rules.

April 26th → (Purely rumor, take with a full spoon of salt.) Gong Jun and Zhang Zhehan were supposedly seen together at the entrance to the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Beijing. Reportedly they saw someone take photos and Zhehan stepped forward to pay the person off, only for Gong Jun to stop him and say to the photographer, “Do whatever you want.” The following day was Zhehan’s lunar birthday.

May 6th → (Instagram cw) Guo Yunfei, the casting director and actor of Duan Pengju from Word of Honor, posted a photo of himself making the LLD handsign with the caption, “I hope the ‘waves’ (浪花, langhua) like it. I know what happened recently, but what can I say or do? … I hope everyone can be sincere and kind, have a safe future, and live up to your friendship.” This was the day after the Instagram was deactivated.

May 11th → Zhehan’s birthday. The post count on Gong Jun’s Weibo went up by two despite nothing new appearing, indicating that he had posted privately.

May 17th → (Again, purely rumor.) Gong Jun and Zhang Zhehan were supposedly seen together near Liangma Bridge in Beijing’s Chaoyang district. According to this one, Gong Jun asked the fans who photographed them to delete the photos and they willingly complied.

May 20th → Kangshifu released a mini-movie for 520 starring Gong Jun and an actress who looked strikingly like Zhang Zhehan, including a scene where she wore an outfit almost identical to one Zhehan wore during his 2021 birthday concert. The film included drawn illustrations of the two lead characters, one of which was found to have been directly traced from a photo of Zhehan from the Word of Honor concert. One of the lines included on the teasers leading up to the release was “I didn’t hide you away properly. It’s apparent in every drawing of mine.”

May 23rd → Gong Jun posted photos from a photoshoot for L’Officiel magazine to his Weibo—completely innocuous until people discovered that the caption, “✈✈✈～ ”, auto-translated to “对对～我爱你～ (Yes yes~ I love you~)” in the international app. This was later confirmed to have been an intentional Easter egg. Interpret it as you will~

June 9th → Gong Jun posted cooking photos from when he had been visiting his family during the previous month. It was noticed that there was one more set of chopsticks than there should have been if it was only his family. As well, it can be seen that Gong Jun was cooking the cilantro separately from the rest of the dish—Zhehan is known to not like cilantro. June 9th is May 11th on the lunar calendar.

(There were so many little things throughout May and June, you could tell Gong Jun was giving Xie and co. the middle finger. A thread I made of all the ones I’m aware of can be found [here].)

August 1st → (slight knives in this one) BEAST posted an article to their WeChat about their Qixi product line, in which they included the lines “Remembering that we couldn’t spend the previous Qixi together as we were at different places I even secretly childishly cried, and was angry at him. He promised that he’ll give me a surprise next Qixi.” and “Love is separated by the mountains and seas / The mountains and seas can be flattened”. The latter was written on a banner Zhehan had recieved from a fan during the Word of Honor concert; Qixi 2021 was August 14th.

September 5th → VogueFilm released an interview Gong Jun had done with them where he talked about his morning routine, wherein he said, “If you have a problem with your knees, don’t do running, cycling, etc. Even though they seem easy, if you don’t master the technique well, it will actually affect your knees” Photos of his food included a jianbing, which a few weeks earlier he had said his “ahyi” made for him, as well as eggs prepared in a way unique to Jiangxi.

October 14th to 20th → Gong Jun stopped having an umbrella shield him from photographers while going to work and took full advantage of it by wearing clothing associated with Zhehan for the next several days. Details can be found in my post for that week, look for the 🍬 emojis.

November 2nd → During a livestream for Hsu Fu Chi, Gong Jun mentioned multiple of his other endorsements and at one point walked off set to grab his LockNLock thermos, which he then drank from on camera for exactly five seconds while the host was made to wait. On the same day, his studio posted a douyin with the song 隆里电丝 by 盛宇DamnShine, which includes the lines “Some people will become your friends / or your zhiji / Some people will fight with you to the end / as long as you're happy (开心就好)”

November 17th → A photo from 2021 that Gong Jun’s studio posted as part of his time train series included a blurred out red and blue smear that was possibly a photo from the Word of Honor concert being used as his phone’s wallpaper.

November 28th → Gong Jun posted a photo of a handwritten note saying that he wouldn’t be doing a birthday livestream the following day. Something that was possibly his hexagon ring appears to have been deliberately placed behind a glass of water in the photo.

December 17th → Gong Jun posted travel photos from Yunnan, which included two photos of a figure from behind wearing a hoodie that completely covers his head. There is debate over whether this person was really Gong Jun, especially as the shoulders seem to match Zhang Zhehan’s stature.

Feb 14, 2022 - Happy Valentine's! GJ posted a Junzhe kadian + LXZ still muted + 1st WOH anniversary event

Hope everyone's got company in the form of people or chocolate / food today! Here's a candy for you all:

(disclaimer: these are all candies/fan assumptions, take with a grain of salt)

Note on kadian: Kadian is a number code that is a homophone to some Chinese words. For ex: 520 (wu er ling) sounds like I love you (wo ai ni), and is what a lot of Chinese people think when they see these numbers (also May 20, 5/20, is another day like Valentine’s). It’s very common shorthand to get across phrases without typing out the whole thing. It’s kind of like saying LOL or LMAO to express laughter, or like the joke:

Did you hear why six is afraid of seven?

Because seven eight (ate) nine!

Lots of companies make use of kadian as timestamps for posts. I guess an American equivalent would be some company posting at 04:20 advertising pot/etc.

1. GJ’s Valentine’s Day post history:

GJ normally makes a post on his weibo for Valentine’s Day, Feb 14. He sometimes updates other platforms as well.

In 2020, GJ posted at 11:11 (the kadian code 1111 is known for making a wish) with 1 dog emoji. Maybe he was wishing for love? This was before WOH filming, and presumably when he was still single and performing that young bachelor act. (For ex. He’d often post pics of his abs on social media, but post-WOH, he never showed those babies again haha)

/edit for July 2022/ he DID just post a whole slew of ab pics across a bunch of platforms. 🍬 Is he posted these as a thirst trap for ZH and he kadian'd:

Instagram 12:35 - 11 mins after

5/11 is ZZH's birthday. He tends to kadian a lot bc he's very knowledgeable in internet slang i.e. the 50G nickname lol.

In 2021, GJ posted the five fingers + 11 dog emojis kadian at 13:14. This is during WOH airing and also when we all assumed he was already in a relationship with ZZH.

Fans at the time speculated if the 5 fingers + 11 dog emojis referenced ZZH’s birthday. And we all know how much GJ likes to browse his own topic + their LLD/JunZhe supertopic, so he actually references and knows what fans are doing all the time (before 813 of course).

I can’t remember where I saved this image from, so forgive me, but it references the fans talking openly about 5/11 meaning ZZH’s birthday. They say, if GJ and ZZH meant for his Valentine’s post to refer to ZZH’s birthday, please post on your respective weibos these phrases: “Love without parting hands.” and “ ‘Gong’ happy, get rich”.

WHICH THEY ACTUALLY DID. THAT MARCH. Asjfakdflkas. Candy confirmed?

In 2022, THIS YEAR. GJ posted this at 2-14, 13:14 + 11 dog emojis again.

1+4=5 + 11 dog emojis = 5/11 (ZZH’s birthday).

1314 = forever / eternal love.

You might say, wow, what a coincidence, he’s posting the same thing this year, surely he knows what it meant to all the fans in 2021 right??? What a cute laogong. BUT HOLD YOUR HORSES, THERE’S MORE.

2.These twitter users noticed that this location is almost the same spot that ZZH took a photo at.

And when you overlap the two pictures… ZZH ends up in GJ’s arms.

I can’t with these two. Even after 813, after so much mess and heartache and trauma, GJ still shouts as loud as he can his love for ZZH. And this fandom, they are the best detectives I’ve ever seen lol. Hoooly- Ugh, I love them SO MUCH.

3. Funny comment from this user:

it says "this is gong jun. he, during filming at qingdao when he didn't have time, found time to go to a place his laopo went to before to kadian, and on valentine's day he kadianed 1314 and 0115. what about your partner? is your partner busier than gong jun?"

5. LXZ / Uncle Li has been muted for awhile but he’s still kickin’.

Edit: Uncle Li's account was deleted back in April :( He put a letter out through his show's weibo account stating that he will back away from all social media from now on, and anyone that comes up with his name is an imposter. This post was deleted shortly after.

Doing his thing offline, it seems like things are going well, so there’s not much news. Probably will come back after the Beijing Winter Olympics since CN wants to focus on that coverage instead of CAPA drama.

11-20 → Gong Jun posted four photos of himself with a sunbeam shining on his face. Caption: “‘Exposing*’ pictures [three husky emojis]” He later posted the same photos to his Xiao Hong Shu, caption: “Sleepy Fooled you (sg.) 😋” and his Instagram, caption: “👻👻👻” *A double meaning with 晒, which on its own means to lay in the sun but in conjunction with “pictures” means to display. I tried my best to find an English word that conveys both meanings... Fan Observation: This is the same word used in Word of Honor (full phrase: 晒太阳) during episodes 1 and 35.

Careful, this flirty cutie packs a mean punch!

This set is amazing on so many levels. This fig maker's designs always lean towards saucy, and this is no exception!

The name of the fig set refers to the Junzhe Extended Universe pairing of Zhong Wumei and Pei Yuntian.

Gong Jun plays Prince Zhong Wumei in Unique Lady. Here he is dressed as a beautiful young woman in order to lure out and capture some evildoers.

This clip is hilarious and has the bonus of being English subbed. It's definitely worth watching!

The imperial doctor Pei Yuntian is Zhang Zhehan's character from Cosmetology High.

The title listing of this video calls him a cute and handsome little villain! I didn't realize he was a bad guy here, I thought he was just a palace schemer. I definitely need to watch this.

Our sassy figs came carefully packaged in their custom polystyrene foam. Luckily, they arrived perfect! I was a bit worried that Wumei's gorgeous hair ornaments might not survive the trip, but thankfully they did.

The fig maker also included a sticker sheet! This was supposed to be a special first-in gift for the first set of buyers (which I was not), but people were so upset to miss the leg hair that she included them for everyone.

We have some different thicknesses of leg hair - from the top (MTL) is "ordinary short", "low profile short", and "wild long section". Outstanding. We also have some great other stickers that are definitely very multipurpose for Junzhe figs!

These aren't regular stickers like I'm used to. They are backwards, like transfers, and there's a clear protector sheet over them you have to peel off. I tried press-sticking one on Wumei, but it didn't seem to work.

Thankfully, my best fig friend helped me out here with her quality advice. These are water stickers, which means they are like temporary tattoos - you get them wet, and then stick them on the fig, and then after a bit you gently peel off the backing. I would never have puzzled this out!

Alright, before we start with Wumei, let's get a still of this fantastic look for comparison purposes...

Gong Jun is stunning dressed as a woman. Beautiful people are just beautiful! I can't help remembering how one of the interviewers at the SHL concert had previously gushed to Gong Jun about how pretty he was dressed up as a woman (and ahaha, Zhehan's face during their concert interview segment!). May I just also note how gorgeous his fingers are here.

Our extremely flirty prince came with a very saucy fan that is not the fan in the still above! You can see it if you zoom in, but fair warning if you're on public transportation or something, it's very scantily clad chibis having a grand ol' time together (it's only like 2 fire emojis on the Fig Spice-o-meter scale, but still nothing I'd zoom in on a crowded bus while an all-too-curious seat mate looked on, for instance). I was going to take a closeup of it for you, but I ran way out of picture space. There's some closer pictures below you can zoom in on.

Here he is, all coy and delicate and flashing some leg. A very smooth skinned leg, without even "low profile short" hair, as these photos were taken before BFF help. Never fret, loyal figthusiasts, keep on scrolling!

Two leggies! And a great look at the hairstyle. That butterfly pin is so pretty.

And here we go - a full shot of the beautiful pin and the hanging ornament off of it. So pretty! Wumei likes to pull his hair over his shoulder and stroke it playfully when acting flirty, so here we have his hair over his shoulder.

You can see a bit of the very complex piles of hair that Wumei is wearing in the still. You'll also notice he seems to be leaning pretty aggressively over to the side, which is by design, as he's putting up his dress.

This full back view really shows the hair in it's complicated glory!

Ooh, this is a good shot of one of his earrings. They are clip-ons in the show.

CUTE. The fig maker did such a great job with the eyes here. You can also start to see some of the flowered pins here.

SO CUTE. Look at this! Amazing. Here you can see how he's holding his dress up too.

I flipped the fan over here so you could see the other side is a plain gold. If you can't have frolicking chibis in the house, this is a very pretty look too!

He is wearing frilly knickers! I am just so delighted by this fig, I can't even tell you.

The frills were too amazing to not show you both sides.

Speaking of amazing, here's his hair ornaments in all their glory.

And from the back, looking down and forward. Yikes, I'm going to run out of my 30-pic post limit at this rate! Time for Pei Yuntian.

Yep, he's drool-worthy indeed. No jury would convict you, Pei Yuntian!

The hands are just beautifully molded on these figs - really great detail. I love the bit of a cat-eye line he has going on at the corner of his eyes here.

I like the nice wide sleeves. I haven't seen this show, but I have seen a lot of Pei Yuntian figs, and this outfit is pretty classic.

Speaking of classic, the rabbit-ear hat is the same on every fig so far! It's very distinctive.

I assume this is a herb-gathering basket, just given that he's a doctor in the show. However, like I said, I haven't seen it, so take this with an enormous chunk of salt.

I regret photographing this on a white background! I should have done it on a colorful one so you could see the detail better.

It's a pretty outfit though. Very billowy and a pearly white, which gives it some nice visual interest. This fig maker likes pearlescent paints on her figs.

Look at that blush! Too cute - the eyes here are just wonderful.

Much plainer here on the underside for Pei Yuntian. Yikes, I really am almost out of picture allowance!

AHAHAHAHAHA. I'm back here to report on the leg hair water transfer sticker and it is FANtastic.

First off, major credit to my BFF, the water transfer worked perfectly. I cut out the stickers, peeled off the protective plastic, grabbed an end with a tweezers, and ran it under water. I stuck it on the leg and kind of tapped it around. I didn't even have to wait, I just peeled it off!

This is actually three of the "low-profile short", since I put one on right in the middle and it looked a little patchy. So I did one above and below, and here's the result! I picked the lo-pro since we are just fresh off of Gong Jun's Cosmo Body Issue mag shoot, and well, he's very well groomed, so I had that in my head when I picked.

I am now maybe kinda regretting not going with the "wild and long", but I'm really happy with it! I actually burst out laughing when I took off the last sticker, it's hilariously funny and I couldn't stop chuckling as I took this picture! Now I wish I had done this before taking all the pics, but this one is good enough. Hehehe, I'm still giggling to myself!

I love it SO MUCH, it's ridiculous and silly and perfect!

This set actually came with a printed box with the same artwork, but I'm all out of picture space! It's just the same artwork on the box card, nothing different.
