Finally I can share my Katya cosplay from Goncharov(1973) I feel like she had so much character and was completely passed over
The use of red really showed through on the film, not seen are the bright red heels I’m wearing to match hers. Although I did manage to snag a screen-accurate watch!

#goncharov#jokes aside there are some 70s directors i havent seen at all or very little (like scorsese)#and there are some i have developed a pretty good idea of (like de palma)#and the reason i choose not to watch them is not because i dont know they exist or think they're problematic just bc theyre white guys#(+its really annoying when ppl act like de palma or godard or kubrick or polanski or whatever are unknown theyre as popular as it gets)#but it's true i don't think their films are deep enough bc i have seen them and i dont think they understand what they're rly talking abt#i dont think they arent deep bc theyre white guys with big awards but i do think that is one of the reasons that their art doesnt get to me#and im not talking about their ability as a director when it comes to technical things like cinematography editing etc#i couldnt say anything bad about the prom queen scene of carrie by de palma#but i simply do not think de palma actually understands what carrie represents (nor does stephen king tbh)#and yes i think that is because he is a cis straight white guy who i also think is a weirdo just by looking at his directing choices#like im not saying he isnt deserving of the attention he got/gets bc he is a white guy#but i do think he isnt deserving of the attention he gets and he also happens to be a rich white guy#and like even if that wasnt the case i dont think it's an unreasonable thing to assume a rich white guy can understand teenage girl psyche#i wouldnt dismiss anyone based on their race gender level of nepotism etc#in fact despite the pure nepotism (with certain criticisms ofc) i love the work of the new gen coppolas (sofia is one of my all time favs)#im not judging anyone who likes de palma i dont give a shit but dont act like your taste is superior u sound like a 1800s cambridge brat#do you understand what im saying??? basically stop being annoying about goncharov we're trying to have fun

Okay but where's the Modern AU Goncharov fic where:
1. No one dies
2. Goncharov and Katya come from rich families and are childhood best friends. When not being each others' beards for upper-class events, their dynamic is vaguely Sharpay and Ryan Evans-like, but with more drama and illicit drug-dealing.
3. Enemies to lovers Goncharov and Andrey, who similarly to the movie starts off as a rival in the drug dealing business.
3. Goncharov and Andrey are a mess. Even Katya's best wingman skills fail. Ice pick Joe (who got his nickname from an unfortunate prank gone wrong in high school involving the prom king and dry ice) somehow, completely by accident, ends up being the one to push them together.
4. Meanwhile, Katya meets the very nice, sensible, not-at-all dramatic librarian Sofia. Their partnership goes considerably smoother than Goncharov's. She clearly has superior taste.

hello fellow tumblr users. i'm doing a 100 baby challenge in the sims 4 and naming every baby after tumblr related things. please give me some more ideas for future baby names
the founder of the challenge is david, named after david karp.
the children so far have been: crab, coppy, mop, plinko, eeby, deeby, ebony, dark'ness, dementia, raven, way, destiel, dashcon, ballpit
names i have planned: tumbeasts, superwholock, gold, plus, blaze, slug, goncharov, katya, andrey, ice pick joe, sofia, patchka, university, prom, island, georg, sharks, bus, sky, chocolate, hat, alexandria, genesis, silver, rabies, shoelaces, miku, binder, thomas, jefferson, officer, truffles and the last 13 babies will be the letters of kung pow penis + explosion
that is 59 names out of 100. anyone have any ideas for the other 41

as things get even worse in ukraine please remember that online posts from individuals are not the same as vetted reports. yes there are individuals posting who are going to be able to be more accurate about what’s happening because it is actually happening to them and on-the-ground reports on social media have been huge in recent years in keeping the world informed during times of turbulence but!! please remember:
people can and WILL lie to get attention esp during a crisis - someone saying “i’m from ukraine” when you have no other evidence is not a reliable source, double if their profile (blog, etc) looks relatively new or only has a few unrelated posts
people only know what they know! people can report what’s happening to them in the context that they understand it - that doesn’t give a full picture of what’s happening to an entire country or even a single city
deliberate misinformation specifically by russia is a thing
GET. MULTIPLE. SOURCES. check at least 2-3 news sources ON TOP of social media posts - whatever threads seem to be aligning across all sources are probably the closest to the truth
being informed means being responsibly informed and it’s okay if you don’t have the bandwidth (time, emotional energy, etc) to check your info in the middle of the day. better to be silent than to spread misinformation so please please check before you post

not to be on my debut shit but if you weren’t there (watching cmt in 2007) you don’t remember how debut should not have worked that’s not what country music WAS then. it was just post-9/11 so new artists were all patriotism and country boys in trucks drinking and idolizing their fathers and war and occasionally being sad about a lost love and girls in short shorts looking wife-eyed and loving Jesus and occasionally being sad about a dead love. like taylor in her sparkly dresses with her big hair singing about high school and unrequited puppy love wasn’t designed to work but it DID because young women went absolutely feral over this gangly blond in prom dresses who sang about things they understood, things they felt and taylor was such a risk but she proved her mettle and then everyone proceeded to make her keep doing it for another sixteen years even though as a literal teenager she made a genre fit her not the other way around and i have to chew glass every time i think about it
