Gonna be posting pics of the Godzilla stuff that came in throughout the week that I haven't posted cause I was busy/forgot to take the pictures.
Starting off with Mothra from Godzilla vs Mothra(1992)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
She is absolutely beautiful! And very posable!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And here she is next to my Battra and her larva form.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I tried posing Mothra, Battra, and Godzilla in the last scene where the two carried Godzilla back to the ocean, where Battra died from Godzilla biting and firing at his neck. Obviously can't get them to be above the table, but managed to balance them in a way that wouldn't let them fall over.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And the comparison between the new SH Monsterarts Mothra and the other Mothras in my collection.

I just realized the original Mothra movie and Godzilla vs Mothra 1992 have similar ending scenes. A nice little nod to the original.

Hello! I really like the Godzilla movies I have seen (mostly the recent Hollywood films and Shin Godzilla). If I wanted to get into them properly are there any you would recommend starting with or is it fun to just go release order?
Thanks! Hope you have a great day
Release order is a totally valid way to watch Godzilla movies! That being said, it’s not my favorite way to do it.
If you’ve already seen Shin, and the Hollywood:Monsterverse movies then I recommend watching the Heisei era movies.
It’s a complete story that starts with the 1984 Godzilla movie and ends with Godzilla vs Destoroyah.
The Return of Godzilla (1984)
Godzilla vs. Biollante (1989)
Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah (1991)
Godzilla vs. Mothra (1992)
Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla II (1993)
Godzilla vs. SpaceGodzilla (1994)
Godzilla vs. Destoroyah (1995)
And if you like these then you can check out the short films from gemstone that act as an office sequel
Godzilla vs Gigan Rex (2022) and Godzilla vs Megalon (2023)
This is just my suggestion though! The best way to watch Godzilla movies is to watch them however you want to

Let's put this to bed:
For some reason, there's a rumor going around online that the suit from Godzilla (1984) was stolen and to this day, nobody knows what happened to it. I don't know how this started or where it came from, but it's wholly untrue. Firstly, there were two Godzilla suits made for the film. One for the main shooting, the other for "stunts" and water scenes and such. One of these suits was taken by Teruyoshi Nakano to North Korea and transformed into Pulgasari for Kenpachiro Satsuma to act in again. How it started: https://becominggodzilla.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Return_1984_Screenshot_03.jpg How it ended: https://allthatsinteresting.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/pulgasari-span.jpg The other suit was at some point sent to America to do a publicity tour for the release of Godzilla 1985. Svengoolie (then, "Son of Svengoolie") even did a show back then with the suit on hand! https://64.media.tumblr.com/c8236ab23914497cf118f8eb312ba504/6bbc7811252ac46b-d8/s1280x1920/e1b8d137ed6755413b7a76d05aefa093fcdc87a0.jpg https://64.media.tumblr.com/f3e50da5f2a184a518b76946f6d460dc/6bbc7811252ac46b-3c/s1280x1920/c5cef9f0d70d59675b6304020fdad67675e7b2e8.jpg https://64.media.tumblr.com/fd9a7a33db0b3174f18c1186b67b58c2/6bbc7811252ac46b-64/s1280x1920/6209fdef0043a0d37820ec0fbb38a156a70421a7.jpg After that was over, the suit was sent back to Toho where it was used in several commercials. Since nobody's ever mentioned it, I presume Pulgasari was left over in North Korea where it eventually rotted away. The only Godzilla suit ever actually stolen was the 1989 Biogoji, refurbished and used again in 1991. It was somehow swiped in mid-1992 just before shooting of Godzilla vs. Mothra began. Koichi Kawakita fully intended to use the Bio/Gidogoji suit yet again for the entire movie, even with its aging, floppy plates. But when it was stolen, he was forced to have a new suit made. The effects staff were relieved when the suit was stolen because there was some kind of problem with it and they didn't want to deal with it anymore. The suit was eventually discovered discarded in a ditch, probably because the damn thing was just so unwieldy (keep in mind, the lightest Godzilla suit for shooting ever made was still like 100 pounds). Kawakita ordered it repaired and it was used as like a stunt suit in vs. Mothra, which would be the final onscreen appearance for it.

Literally zero shade or judgement from me over here, but when I saw you post about kaiju ships I went: "Wait, that's a thing??" before remembering I'm on The Internet (and Tumblr for that matter). Cool!!
What's a ship you like? I wanna hear about this whimsical new shipping world I've been blind to.
Hello wof moot let me guide you through the kaiju-centric part of my brain!!!
My definite favourite is Mothra x Biollante, I’m not sure how much you’d actually know about these little guys but I’ll give you a very brief rundown of them. Mothra is a kaiju who protects the world and environment from threats and lives on through her children whenever she dies. This version of her from the 1992 movie I see as a bit more socially aware and chipper than her other versions, she cares about how everyone’s feeling and does her best to keep everything positive. Biollante is from the 1989 movie Godzilla vs Biollante, taking place in the same movie continuity that Mothra’s from, although the two don’t actually meet. She was a human woman who was killed and then revived into a monster by her grief-stricken scientist father, and thus has lots of shit to work through. Her actual feelings are kept fairly ambiguous in the movie, but I think Biollante struggles a lot with learning to love herself again, while also having a very hard time remembering who she used to be and what happened to her.
Essentially, Biollante gets to work through her trauma with Mothra and the two get to be girlfriends, yippee! Biollante is very flustered and sheepish about her feelings for Mothra, while Mothra isn’t exactly bold, but is more open about how she feels, even if both of them are figuring it out. I very much like them for the sort of cute hurt/comfort ship dynamic they have going on, it’s just my favourite cute little yuri couple, and they’re the two I’ve drawn the most.

I showed mini Mothra yesterday, but today, I bring you jumbo Mothra
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
She is so big! Which makes sense, she's an X-Plus figure. First and only one I'll get from that line of figures. Mainly cause u wouldn't have enough space for another one of her size. Here's her stand
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It has part of her egg buried in the dirt, and on the other side is the Mothra symbol. She's from Godzilla and Mothra: The Battle for Earth(or otherwise called Godzilla vs Mothra(1992). She has the most vibrant colors of all the Mothras, though I guess it depends on whether the Mothra from King of the Monsters is more or less vibrant than this one. But definitely one of the fluffiest Mothras. She also has light-up eyes!
Tumblr media
And, to emphasize how big she is, here she is with the mini Mothra from yesterday, a different mini Mothra that is from the same movie, the Mothra from Godzilla vs Mothra(1964) her first appearance in a Godzilla movie, the SH Monsterarts Mothra larva, and one of my SH Monsterarts Godzillas.

All Godzilla (and most King Kong) Movies: Personal Tier List
Tumblr media
When Godzilla Minus One came out, knowing that Godzilla x Kong was coming out only four months later, a friend and I decided to part take in the long journey of watching every theatrical Godzilla film to date, including the original King Kong, King Kong Escapes, and King Kong 2005 to have a little history leading into Kong: Skull Island. We skipped the 80's Kong movie as it was rather derivative to the original and Peter Jackson version. The MogeGoji suit used in the film Godzilla vs. Space Godzilla (1994). The "Moge-" part of the name derives from M.O.G.U.E.R.A., which was the mecha which assisted Godzilla against Space Godzilla.
The suit was re-used the following year for Godzilla vs. Destroyah. Portions of the suit had strings of red and yellow lights inserted to give the appearance that Godzilla was burning up (aka the Burning Godzilla look). It is also called the DesuGoji suit for this film.
A third utilization of the suit was as the adult Godzilla Junior, who appears at the very end of Godzilla vs. Destroyah.
The major differences between this suit and others of the Heisei-era are: less pronounced neck ribbing, which became prominent in the MosuGoji suit from Godzilla vs. Mothra (1992); a wider neck at the shoulders; and larger eyes to give Godzilla a slightly less menacing look.
