god, you know Midst is good when I'm going full television screenwriter mode about it to work out what the plot beats are and need to be: "We have nineteen episodes, eighteen left, and we need to get to that fall swiftly. What is not necessary at all to do on screen? What can we cut? What can we skip outright? Do we NEED to actually see the court-martial? What we're actually here for is Spahr's depression spiral, so how do we maximize time spent with that. How fast can we get Harry off Midst—and do we need to? Do we NEED to get Sherman out of the Highest Light actually? We just need to get him back with Tzila, so can we get her to him? We need the main cast all in the same place, but how do we do that fastest and where? Does it NEED to be Midst despite that being the title?

What are we actually here to watch, and how do we get ourselves more time with that? What threads are absolutely necessary to resolve for the story to land, and what specifically needs to happen to make it satisfying, what are our options to make that all happen? How many supporting characters can we sustain introducing at this juncture to help with these plot logistics, can or (and do we) need to pull in any of those random names mentioned prior? What character and setting details can we cash in on to build this out. Nineteen episodes, what is strictly necessary to get this landed, what can we skip and cut so we can directly to the stuff we're here for and spend more time with that?"

I LOVE doing this shit, and I have missed it so much, and I'm SO glad that Midst just kicks me into it and makes me want to do The Writers Room Whiteboard plot beating.

I love Hermie

But if he was to continue to get forgotten about, as well as all that was interesting about him (his character, his trauma, his dynamic with the pcs and other npcs) being brushed over or just never being expanded upon/ developed….

I think it’s best to let him go

I mean, sadly I don’t have their patron and can’t listen to teen talk, but if Anthony didn’t like the character, I think it was ok to let him die rather than mishandling it
