Money, Money, Money (Sugar Daddy! Gibbs x Reader)
Late night, black coffee, handsome man, all alone. Third time this week, 5th week in a row you’ve seen him. You flirted often fishing for bigger tips, trying to pay bills you couldn’t even afford to have. You lived on your own. 18 years old, last 2 months of high school, and barely a plan and money to plan life with.
“See you’re here again!” You say happily topping him off.
“Hey! Rough week” he sighed, eyeing you gently.
“You work at… don’t tell me” you say trying to remember. “NCIS!” You exclaim.
“Good memory” he smiles. “How are you (y/n)?” He asks.
“Ah I’m alright. Just trying to get off work as soon as possible, you know” you shrug. “Later it gets the scarier it is outside.”
“Well, what time do you get off?” Gibbs asks.
“12” you sigh, looking towards the clock. Only 9:45. “Got about 2 hours left”
“Yeah, remember the goal kid.” Gibbs smiled. “Say, what college do you plan on attending? I remember you saying you were a senior and it’s almost the end of the year.”
“Oh, college.” You say quietly. “I can’t afford it, so I won’t be going. Maybe in the future” his phone began ringing. He clicked it silent before turning to you,
“Ah I see… well (y/n) have a good night. I’ve gotta get back to work” he stands.
“See ya around, Jet” you saluted him.
“Jet…” he said thoughtfully. “I like that!!”
Time skip~
The clock hit 12 and your shift was over. You walked out to see a familiar face leaning against a car. You smiled as he approached you.
“Hey Jet! What’re you still doin out?”
“Driving you home” he shakes his keys. “Scary out here” you can see a smirk.
“Coming from a guy who’s packing” you roll your eyes as you approach the car. You were gonna let yourself get a ride with a man who had a gun… a lot safer than walking an hour without a gun. That was how you justified getting into that car.
“Oh shut up” he opened the door and you got in.
When you arrived at your shitty apartment that you could barely afford you saw Gibbs eyes search the perimeter.
“I’ll walk you in… I don’t like the looks of that guy on the corner” he motions with his head.
“It’s really alright. Thank you for the ride!” You say opening your door. Jethro reached across and shut it before you could step out. Silently he got out and walked around the car. Opening it.
“Let’s go” he grinned sweetly. You caved and bring him up. His eyes fell on your small apartment. Clean, organized, your life could fit in a box. He made notes of things to buy you.
“Well since you’re up here” you say as you take off your coat. “Coffee? Tea? Might actually have a bottle of soda in the fridge…” you trail as you thought about it.
“Coffee’s great, yeah” he accepts. The two of you stayed up talking late into the night before he left. Your insecurity of what you could afford present in the back of your mind.
A few days later~
You woke up to a knock on your front door. You opened it to see a delivery guy at your door.
“Delivery for a…” he looked at his clipboard. “(Y/n)(l/n)”
“Yeah, yeah that’s me” you say. “What is this?” The man shrugged.
“A car? If you didn’t order it, not my problem. I can’t take it back.” He said as you signed the paper. He handed you the keys. “Beautiful car by the way” he walked away. You closed the door behind you, walking downstairs. Outside you eagerly clicked the key, looking around for the car, your eyes finally settling on the black dodge challenger sitting in a parking spot a few meters down.
“Oh my god” you say nearly in tears. You ran back upstairs and hurriedly got dressed for work, hoping to see Jethro there. And sure enough when you pulled up in your new car, there was Jethro, leaning on his car again.
“You fucking bastard” you run and hug him, you cry happily into his shoulder. He laughed as you did so.
“Wait wait, I get you a car and you call me Bastard!!!” He exclaimed. “I got something else for you…” he digs his hand into his pocket, another key coming out on his finger.
“Jethro…” you say looking at it as a bright green address tag danced in your eyes.
“Coffee first. Key later” you nodded as you lead him inside.
Time skip~
You ended your shift early to go with Jethro. You blindly tailed him into a nicer apartment complex in a better part of Quatico. Your heart began to flutter as you parked.
You walked into a nice apartment on the 3rd floor. Beautiful black granite kitchen tops, newly installed appliances.
“So…” he says. “What furniture were you thinking you wanted for your new apartment?” He says handing you magazines.
“Holy shit.” You whisper. “This is mine?” He nodded. “This place is mine?” You gasp.
“All paid off. So is the car. And so is your degree.”
“Degree?” You ask. “No you didn’t”
“Yes. I did” he smiled.
“Shut up” you tear up as he passes you a folder. The big words ‘WELCOME TO VIRGINIA TECH’ inscribed. “How did you-“
“Pulled some strings… I think your 1560 SAT score and perfect GPA helped a lot…” he said.
“Oh my god” you cry out jumping into his arms. “I will pay it all back” you say.
“Nope. No need. Just keep being a good girl and I will give you the world” he says.
“Thank you so much!!”
“Of course! You deserve it” he winked. “Now pick out some furniture. It’s your reward for getting into Virginia Tech” you kisses your cheek.

Brighter Than the Stars
Tumblr media
gibbs x reader
“What’s your perfect way to decompress after work?” Abby asked (Y/N), the youngest member of the team. (Y/N) wasn’t sure how to answer the question. Should she say what she was really thinking? Or maybe something else, out of fear of being judged. But, when (Y/N) joined the team, she quickly realized that Abby doesn’t judge anyone, so she had nothing to fear. With that, she responded with her true answer, “It would have to be stargazing.” “Stargazing, that’s so cool!”, the forensic scientist responded. “Thanks! I know it’s not really an ‘adult’ thing to do, but for me, there’s nothing I like more after work than laying back and watching the stars shine.” “That was the most perfect answer ever, I was just going to say bowling.” Little did they both know, Gibbs was outside Abby’s lab overhearing the whole conversation.
The day went on, the team said their goodnights, and went their separate ways for the night. Right before (Y/N) could unlock her car, Gibbs stopped her and asked, “Do you wanna do somethin’ with me tonight?” “Sure. What do you have in mind?”, the young agent replied. “It’s a surprise, but don’t worry, you’ll love it.” She thought for sure she would be helping work on the boat in his basement (not that he needs help). But when he parked his truck in an old field, she started to wonder if he overheard her conversation with Abby earlier. Her suspicions were confirmed when he said, “Bring the blanket.”
He opened the door for her, and during the short walk to the bed of his truck, he asked her, “Do you have a favorite star?” “Not really, to be honest, I love them all. Being able to admire the stars just fills me with so much peace.” “How?”, he asked the young agent whom he was starting to fall for. “There’s just something about looking up at the sky and seeing how radiantly they shine.” she replied, unknowingly smiling almost as bright as the stars hundreds of light years away. After he made his way onto the truck bed, he helped her up by gently taking her hand and holding her waist. She’d be lying if she said it didn’t give her butterflies.
He made a motion for her to lie down, as he did the same. He threw a large blanket on top of them both, and their surroundings felt 10° warmer. They spent the first few minutes lying underneath the starlight in complete silence, just being. He was the first to break the silence, saying, “I remember as a kid staying up for hours in the summertime just to watch the stars. I’d go to bed when the sun’d come up and pretend like I’d been in bed the whole night.” They spent the next several hours talking about fond childhood memories, childhood pets, anything, and everything. He taught her which stars were which, how to navigate the stars, trying to ignore the warm feeling he felt every single time she smiled. She had also tried to ignore the warm feeling she felt every single time he smiled, or any time he had talked about his childhood so fondly.
After the conversation had started to die down, she let out a yawn, neither of them realizing it was now the middle of the night. In a moment of bravery, she gently laid her head down on his shoulder, claiming him as her pillow for the night. When he didn’t move, she knew she was safe. She always feels safe when she’s with Gibbs. And he always feels safe when he’s with her. “Goodnight (Y/N).” “Goodnight Jethro.” In that moment, he realized not only does he really like it when she uses his name and not just “boss” or “Gibbs”, but he also realized she seemed to fit perfectly in his arms. He spent the next several moments breathing in her scent, which consisted of her perfume and the soft vanilla and lavender from her shampoo. He finally fell asleep holding her close, after kissing her forehead.
They woke up the next morning, as the sun rose over the very same field that was host to countless stars the night before. Then they spent the next several minutes observing each other’s features. She observing every freckle on his face, how his eyes seemed to be much brighter and appear much more blue than they’d ever been, how the soft sunlight made his hair appear brighter and if she looked hard enough, his silver strands of hair seemed to softly glow in the morning sun. He observing how the sun was making her hair appear brighter and softer than it’s ever looked before, how her natural freckles were illuminated by the sun’s soft rays, how plush and smooth her lips look. Being in each other’s cozy embrace made them both think, “I could stay here forever and never want to leave.”

Letters From the Sky
[A/N: Bruv I so rarely write angst because I am a weakling and it makes me Big Sad, but this has been floating around in my drafts and I just binge watched a bunch of NCIS episodes that made me cry so 🤲🏽 a ficlet for u, here u go. It's not really the saddest ending so there's that, at least? I hope? I sorry] Pairing: Jethro Gibbs x wife!reader TW: references to funerals/loss, implied character death
__________
Settling down on the couch in your living room, you tuck your knees underneath one of your husband’s old USMC hoodies and create a makeshift table out of your lap. Writing a letter can help you deal with your emotions, help you move on with life, your mother had advised, and so here you were, pen in hand, staring at the blank piece of paper before you. Hi, I love you and I miss you didn’t quite cut it. And were you supposed to keep adding to the letter daily, filling him in on your life? Was time passing differently for him? How long would it be until you heard his voice again? Could you ask your friend for her thoughts, or would your questions bring up too many bad memories? Head growing fuzzy and eyes growing watery from your endless stream of questions with no answers in sight, you opted to just start writing. Foregoing a greeting, figuring your husband would know exactly who this was from, you let out a deep breath and put pen to paper.
Funerals are such a funny thing, aren’t they, Jethro? The many faces from your past and present gathered around to celebrate life, lament loss, and say things aloud that they should’ve said to the person who needed to hear it most.
I miss you more than I could ever put into words. It was so strange being there today without you. How many of those solemn events did we attend together throughout the years? Family, friends, colleagues… Too many to count, and most of them senseless losses.
I don’t know how to keep going without you by my side, but it’s been such a blessing to be surrounded by your loved ones. We’ve been trading so many wonderful memories, stories about your fearless feats, your never-ending pursuit of justice, your stubborn nature, your devotion to those lucky enough to know you. I even met one of your former lovers after the funeral, and honey, let me tell you, we got to gossiping. Turns out you’re a regular Casanova, huh? It’s those steel blue eyes that keep you coming back for more, I swear.
I like to think that, even though we’re physically apart now, you can still hear me. After all, you always did say that about my optimism- “from your mouth to God’s ears, sweetheart”. Do you think, if I yelled loud enough, I could get a message delivered to you?
This big house feels even bigger without you. I guess I can think about it like those cases that would last for days, where I wouldn’t even get a glimpse of you until your perp was behind bars, but we both know it’s not quite the same. At least I can raid your closet without hearing you grumble about your favorite hoodies going missing- silver linings, my darling Jethro. I’m not sure how long they’ll keep smelling like you, but I’m determined not to wash them, just in case… My secret’s safe with you, right?
Speaking of secrets (more like hidden gems), I found a stash of Kelly’s artwork upstairs and I’ve started adding her drawings to the gallery of photos on the walls. I know I made some changes after we got married, but the sheer lack of decor when I moved in still astounds me. You’re such a man, she said lovingly.
Anyway, I think you’ll be pleased to know that
The sound of the front door opening alerts you to your friend’s return, and you hurry to jot down your last few thoughts.
Anyway, I think you’ll be pleased to know that your girls are all together in this big house of yours :) Hopefully, we’ll see you soon.
P.S. Not too soon. I know I call you my old man, but you’re not that old- yet.
Gibbs puts his truck in park on the driveway, returning home after another day added to the list of longest days of his life. He sits in the cab for a few prolonged minutes, trying to muster up the courage to enter your big house that feels even bigger now.
When he finally trudges up the walkway, he pauses with his hand on the doorknob and releases a heavy sigh before pushing the door open. And then, for just a split second, he swears he hears you calling his daughter’s name and her answering giggle overlapping with her mother’s voice.
The moment is fleeting, and no matter how hard he strains, he can’t conjure up the sound again. But the house feels warmer, lighter somehow.
And he smiles.

I Thought I Hated You -Chapter One
Tumblr media
Warnings: Talks of murder, Borin and Reader hating each other.
I kinda struggled with this because I love Agent Borin, but I've actually never watched NCIS. I did a bit of research. However, this is mostly made up so far. I used the episode "Ships In The Night" for the inspiration for this.
Tumblr media
*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*
It was your first day working at NCIS, and you were fairly excited yet nervous to start at such an important job. When you got in, you were quickly introduced to everyone, and then you were taken over the case that they had so far. You worked alongside Ziva, and you were looking through your files when you felt another presence beside you. You glanced up to see one of the men you were introduced to earlier.
"Tony, right?" You questioned.
"Yeah! How did you remember?" He looked shocked, yet extremely happy at the fact you had remembered his name.
"Just got a good memory."
His smile faltered slightly as he hoped there was another reason you had remembered him. Despite that, his smirk returned again as he threw compliment after compliment at you.
"Look DiNozzo, I'm not interested in...whatever you're trying to do here." You gestured to him, his cheeks flushing red in embarrassment.
You turned to walk past him, and you bumped into someone. You looked up at the person that stood before you, their hazel eyes glaring into your own.
"Ahh, Y/N. I see you've met CGIS Agent Abigail Borin." The redhead nodded as Gibbs introduced her, a smirk contorting her face as she stuck out her hand for you to shake.
*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*
Over the next few weeks, you had grown especially close to Ziva, forming a friendship that you were grateful to have in this line of work. You both worked seamlessly together and helped the team crack many cases. You were about to pack up your things to set off home and call it a night when the doors to the office swung open, revealing Gibbs.
"We've got a case." He stated.
"Where are we going?" You asked, slinging your jacket over your shoulders.
"The coast." He chuckled.
*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*
As you pulled up to where Gibbs had led you, you spotted many figures chattering next to parked boats. You exited your car with Gibbs and walked over to one of the boats just as someone walked off.
"Agent Borin, how nice to see you again." You smirked, sarcasm dripping off your remark.
"Thanks, Y/N." She rolled her eyes.
"If you keep rolling your eyes, they might just get stuck back there." You winked and booped her nose before walking over to inspect the crime scene.
You walked around the entrance to the boat for a while, looking at possible angles the shooter could've come from. However, none of them made any sense to you.
You headed back to tell Gibbs about your findings when you walked in on Abigail, lifting her golden dress over her head, revealing her bare chest towards you, her body clad in nothing but her panties.
You couldn't help but admire the way her toned arms struggled with the dress, her figure captured by curves in all the right places. You strided over to help her lift the dress from herself, dropping it on her the floor.
"Y/N, what are you doing here?"
"I-I've finished looking around?" You shrugged.
You slid off your hoodie after she put on the NCIS t-shirt and joggers.
"Here, you might get cold." You stated as you passed her the hoodie. You saw the goosebumps begin to rise on her skin when she removed the dress.
"By the way, Borin. You scrub up quite nice." You winked over as you both headed off the boat.
"Don't, Y/N. You're as bad as DiNozzo." She shuddered as you chuckled loudly.
*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*
Over the next few weeks, Borin had been down at the offices helping you solve the murder of the marine lieutenant that was shot upon the boat where your investigation took place.
You and Abigail had clashed non-stop, so you were forced into a different room to even talk to each other.
"Where's she going?" You asked Ziva, nodding over to Abigail, who swung her bag over her shoulder and her jacket resting on her forearm.
"She has a date for your information." Abigail sassed. "A blind one."
The statement stung at your chest despite supposedly hating Abigail. You couldn't get her out of your head. Her body, her smug smirk, her perfect face, her plump lips. You thought about her and you didn't even understand why.

The NCIS team said goodbye to their beloved colleague and friend Dr. Donald “Ducky” Mallard in the touching February 19 episode that also honored the late David McCallum, who played the wise medical examiner (and later NCIS historian) beginning in the 2003 series premiere.
“The cold open scene where Jimmy comes in and finds Ducky [who has died in his sleep], man, I was just a bucket of tears,” confesses Brian Dietzen, who plays medical examiner Jimmy Palmer, Ducky’s longtime mentee, as part of our aftershow, NCIS: Case Closed. Dietzen co-wrote the episode with NCIS writer Scott Williams.
But grieving agents — and fans — got a happy surprise in the episode’s final moments with the appearance of Tony DiNozzo, played by Michael Weatherly, who departed the series in 2016. He showed up to comfort Jimmy. DiNozzo fastening a trademark Ducky bow tie around his friend’s neck before the funeral was a sweet moment that reminded us of how much we miss Tony’s wisecracking affection.
Weatherly wasn’t the only NCIS vet producers considered for an unannounced return. “We ended up deciding on having the character of Tony come back. It all made a lot of sense. This character, in addition to being close with Ducky, was Jimmy’s good friend, so when he comes to visit, it is to help the person who’s left behind. It’s really to be there for his friend,” Dietzen told us. “Getting [Michael] out here and doing all this stuff under the cover of secrecy and the dead of night sort of thing was really cool.”
Crafting the episode, in which the team solves one last case Ducky was working on to clear the name of a fallen soldier, was emotional for Dietzen. It was important to him that the case and the team’s experience were thematically linked. Both concern “the stories that we leave behind, and how those stories really matter to people and how we remember them,” Dietzen says. He and Williams started working on the script only weeks after McCallum passed away in September of 2023.
“It gets me choked up because I’m thinking of David and how parallel David and Ducky are and how parallel our relationships were — Jimmy and Ducky, myself and David — in certain ways. It definitely got to me,” Dietzen says. “In the midst of this, we went out for his memorial service at the beginning of January in New York and talked to his family about this episode. I really hope they love it.”
We all loved seeing Ducky again in clips that represented memories of the good doc that helped the agents solve the case. These snippets from the past were carefully selected.
“One that was a must for me — when I sat down at the writers’ room table the first day, I said, there’s going to be that the last clip that I want to play, and I think it’s the most fitting — is from the episode written by Steven Binder called ‘Face The Strange,’ where Jimmy is mourning the loss of [retiring] Gibbs [Mark Harmon] and the loss of [departing] Bishop [Emily Wickersham]. And before that, the death of his wife. That day I worked with David, he just knocked it out of the park. It was one of those days where he wasn’t with us too often at that point, maybe only a couple episodes per season, but he came in and just delivered this beautiful, beautiful scene saying that our pain is a small price to pay for [Gibbs’] peace. He seemingly in this flashback will eulogize himself.”
On set, memories of McCallum were the order of the day. “Every single person in this cast and crew were sharing stories, talking about him a lot,” Dietzen says. “There was a shared sense of duty to say that just as NCIS tries to honor our fallen servicemen and women, this is our opportunity to honor one of our own that we’ve acted alongside for the last two decades.”
Watch the full video above for more from Dietzen about working with McCallum and creating the episode, why certain clips were chosen, and what’s ahead for Jimmy and girlfriend Agent Knight (Katrina Law). Come back each week for an inside look at the latest episode of NCIS from the people who make the show.

such sweet sorrow
Been a while since I wrote them, but s19 still gives me Ellick feels. :') *Note: Set after s19e14, "First Steps."
Fic: "such sweet sorrow" [FFN] [AO3]
Pairings/Characters: Nick Torres/Ellie Bishop
Rating: K+
Words: ~2,130
Additional info: romance, hurt/comfort, 3rd person POV
Summary: He's good at playing along at life with his friends, his family. But Nick's mind is, of course, elsewhere, with someone else. -—Or, Nick Torres wishes to convey the latest bit of scuttlebutt to the one he loves.
Nick Torres never should have come here.
Nick should have stayed at home, still in bed at this ungodly hour (just shy of five in the morning), on a Sunday morning, like any sane person. He should have woken up in another three, four hours, because weekends were for sleeping in when they weren't assigned the weekend watch (although McGee once told him the MCRT had Bad Juju™ when it came to weekend details, hence why Nick had yet to work one). He should have woken up and eaten and worked out and vegged in front of the TV—and repeated until it was time to call it a night.
Instead, Nick sat in his SUV, parked outside a nice, small home that hadn't been touched in a while. This wasn't his neighborhood, even though it felt far too familiar…as did the property's layout before him.
An average-looking home that boasted a lot of easy exits and plenty of stash spots.
A home set apart just enough from its neighbors, in the event action ever arrived on its doorstep.
And…a separate, detached shed turned into a little dwelling.
The former home of Odette Malone—or whatever she called herself nowadays—sat empty and waiting for Nick's regular surprise visit, rather as though it expected him. Nothing had strayed out of place since he'd last been a few weeks ago, Nick observed as he exited his car and approached with caution. The last dregs of snow had melted from the roof thanks to the unseasonably warm weather, but the paint still flecked off in various spots on the siding and the steps down to the guesthouse were still sturdy except for the third one up from the bottom. There weren't any new footprints, either. Only the echoes of his previous visit remained in the dry dirt.
The stillness of Odette's home put him at ease, even though it didn't bring him any happy memories. On a typical day, the thought of her made of him grimace. Odette had taken a lot from the team, a lot from him. But, still.
Nick walked over to the smaller dwelling, where Ziva had once hidden herself. He'd mused a time or two that Ellie might've done the same, given the chance, but he'd already broken in here half a dozen times since she and Odette had departed nearly a year ago. And he'd been thorough. Ellie hadn't stayed here.
It didn't mean he had no hope, though. That was why he broke in even now and went to the desk where Ellie and the infamous Mossad ninja had left communications for each other for months on end. And that was where he now set down his own short letter.
Nick twisted his lips around, skeptical. No matter how many times he did this, he always felt a bit silly, leaving a letter that no one might read, that anyone could read.
But he'd been doing this for a while. Initially, he'd left notes—some angry, some mopey—and then the notes lengthened to letters. So much kept happening in his life, and he couldn't fathom her not knowing. Or, at least, him not sharing with her somehow, even if she never got these letters.
That said, periodically his notes and letters seemed moved in their place before ultimately they began to disappear. He'd noticed a missing letter around the time of Gibbs' disappearance, which had concerned him. After all, what if there'd been a mole after the whole team, someone who'd gotten to Gibbs first and would work slowly through the rest of them?
But then his letters continued to disappear even after Gibbs resurfaced, after the team dynamics changed. After Knight established herself as one of them. After Parker threw in his lot with theirs and joined their ragtag crew. Nick never received anything in reply, but he was dumb enough to hope that his words reached Ellie, somewhere, somehow.
And that included today's words. Really, it was his thoughts about Knight's remark during Kayla's first case this past week. He dragged a hand over his face now, replaying those couple of days over in his head. He'd been so focused on being a decent FTA for Kayla that he'd sort of walked into Knight's conversation about his paternal attitude towards Victoria and even Kayla.
"Even if I might be a family man," he mumbled, thinking aloud on his friend's remark, "having five daughters…" He chuckled and shook his head.
"Five kids? Really? That's a lot."
The smile fell off his face as shock overtook him and a certain someone whistled impressively behind him. Nick turned about slowly, as if sudden movements might cause this mirage to disappear just like his letters.
But Ellie wasn't a mirage. His Ellie stood in the guesthouse doorway, casually (tiredly?) leaning against the doorjamb and watching the view. She was mostly backlit, but she didn't back away when he turned the desk lamp on, the light casting her face in a warm glow. The light revealed a lot: Her hair had grown even longer, and she wore it messily braided over her right shoulder. Her skin was paler, as though she hadn't had much sun in a while. And her dark eyes…there. That was where she carried her exhaustion. But her eyes brightened when she smiled after he took the first step towards her. "Hey, stranger."
"Hey," he breathed. With an extra half step, he closed the distance and slipped his arms around her waist. He buried his face in her neck, inhaling the mix of scents there. Beneath lingering smoke and staleness, he could still pick up traces of her. Nick's curiosity over her whereabouts lost out to his yearning, and he squeezed her to him.
"I've missed you, too, Nick," Ellie mumbled into his shoulder. Her voice sounded wet.
He pulled them apart just enough to face her. Nick rested his forehead against hers. "Ellie—"
She smiled through the tears and cupped his face in her hands, drawing his mouth to hers. The kiss lasted for seven heartbeats before she was content only to nuzzle him. "I got all your notes and letters," she confirmed.
He traced circles on her hips through her shirt. "So some wishes do come true." He furrowed his brow. "Is it really too dangerous to answer even one?" He hated how whiny he sounded.
She cocked her head to one side and raised her eyebrows, indicating the scant light of the wee hour behind them. "Coming here is dangerous, Nick. For me, as well as for you."
Nick blinked. He hadn't expected to hear that. "But…"
"Too many people know of this place, is all."
He pursed his lips. "…just NCIS."
"More than two is a lot."
He nodded. "I take it you can't stay long?"
Ellie reached up and traced her thumb along the tiny scar in his right eyebrow. "We crossed paths this time, Nick. I couldn't help myself."
Nick opened his mouth to point out that she made it sound as though this had all been one big accident, a complete coincidence, something they couldn't repeat and would absolutely not happen again.
"So, tell me about today's letter." She smiled again and slipped her hands into the back pockets of his jeans to warm up. "Who's got you talking about an insane number of kids?"
He exhaled, half a chuckle caught in his throat as he scooted them backwards enough to close the door but not enough so they'd have to part. "It was Knight's idea. Well, not idea—more like her prediction of the future."
Ellie quirked an eyebrow. "How the heck did the topic even come up?"
Nick summarized Kayla's debut case as probie. "And, recall my…previous letter," he reminded her, "after what Jimmy and Kasie went through. Knight and McGee didn't know exactly how much time I've spent around the Palmers the last several months."
Her smile was apologetic before she rested her head on his chest. "I'm glad you've spent time with Jimmy and Victoria, though. It's evident in your letters that you enjoy being with them. …sometimes I feel a bit envious," she added in a small voice.
A grumpy part of Nick wanted to point out that that could be remedied quite easily if only she came in out of the cold and stopped working for Odette. But he also knew Ellie Bishop never chose to do anything without purpose, and he wasn't going to stop her if this new line of work gave her purpose. "Well, I get along well with everyone, you know that. The Palmers. Kasie. McGee and Delilah still call me far too often to babysit the twins at the last possible second. Knight's a riot. Parker's a chill dude. And even Vance specially requested me to be Kayla's Field-Training Agent." He shrugged. "A lot of crap hit the fan after…you…and then Gibbs…left, but I'm fine. I'm good. Really."
But there was one person he couldn't lie to, and she promptly withdrew her right hand from his back pocket and gave his rump the tiniest of smacks. "You can't fake being okay around me, Nick. You're not undercover."
He frowned, even when she picked her head up to stare him down.
"You yourself wrote me about the underground fighting case a few weeks ago and having to deal with Sawyer. And Jimmy's pep talk?" She stared him down with those big brown eyes. "It is all right not to be all right."
Nick's shoulders sank a fraction of an inch; he hadn't even realized he'd held any tension in them. But the reminder that he'd admitted the truth about that low point to her in a previous letter… He felt well and truly humbled, especially in the face of her steady words. All he could do was nod like a chastised child.
But Ellie rested her chin on his shoulder and sighed, only a smidge exasperated with him. "Don't forget how strong you are, Nick. You've been through far worse hell than this and you have lots of people who love you, no matter how close or far we are. You're strong."
He turned his head a little, their cheeks brushing in the process. "Yeah, but—without the Charlie to my Luis?"
"We all get a little lost. But you're not weak, Luis. Neither's Nick." She raised her eyebrows as if daring him to protest and then kissed him to keep any excuses at bay.
Nick wished for the moment, for the morning to stretch out longer. Kissing or not, it felt good and right to have Ellie not just in his arms but within reach again. And he was about to say as much when an alarm chirped from her pocket.
Ellie locked eyes with him and gave him another apologetic smile. "I've overstayed my welcome," she pointed out.
He frowned. "Not with me. Never with me, Ellie."
"I know." She pulled away then, walking around him to the desk to collect his letter. She beamed at him as she tapped the letter against her shoulder. "I can read between your lines."
Nick snickered at her lame joke but cracked the door open for her and scanned to check that the coast was clear. "The sun won't be up for another couple hours." He glanced back at her. "Sure you can't stay longer?"
Ellie shook her head and approached him at the door. "Just think of this as extra time to get a head start on brainstorming, Nick."
      He pulled a face. "Brainstorming?"
She hummed as she stared at his letter before pocketing it; Ellie seemed impatient to read the details even though he'd basically told her the gist. "Well, duh. If we're really going to have five daughters, we're not going to name them randomly on the spot."
He gawped at her. Had he heard her correctly?!
"Although think wild and free, too. Be creative." She shrugged. "Just in case Fate throws a bit of testosterone our way," she added. She stuck her tongue out at him, impishly.
But Nick couldn't help but wear a matching grin with her as Ellie winked and slipped out the door after, gone once more out of his life.
He turned back to get the light and he locked up behind him, knowing she would've had plenty of time to get a head start. Her leaving now hurt much as it had last time, but Nick still smiled, he realized when he spied his reflection in the driver side window. But he knew this brief reunion wasn't the only reason why.
This time, he felt reassured that he would see her again, without a doubt.
Until that time came… Missing letters would have to hold him for now.
:') May I just say how much I appreciate the delightful bro-ness of Nick's friendship with Knight? I've mentioned it before in A/Ns to other fics, but I adore their vibe, rly. So having her deliver that "you're so gonna have five daughters line" was brilliant, like having your bestie roast you. X'D (Altho I still assert Nick's bestie is Jimmy. ;P) ANYWHO! I've actually written a short story with a similar premise in my original works, but I dearly wanted to use the location of Odette's home the more I thought about e14 and how rough things have been for Nick lately in canon, and so this thing happened! :D He's been so grumpy, but I do feel he's mostly beaten down by now, hence not having the reunion be an explosive one, just smthg softer and smthg lbh all us Ellick fans SORELY NEED. TTwTT And the way Ellie rolls with the punches about Knight's prediction—she totally would, given the big fam she comes from (and Nick's extended fam, too). XD So, yeah. Also, a nod to my pal, controlled climb, whom I've sucked into the Ellick rabbit hole and who is writing some rly awesome Ellicks lately, bc her work reminded me about the awesome CharlieLuis dynamics that we honestly didn't get enough of on-screen. :c Alas… I look forward to the next bit of Ellick inspo s19 gives me, but in the meantime come dive in to my Parknight fics bc I'm churning them out like a BEAST, my love for Parknight burns nearly as strongly as my love for Ellick does (and if you like my writing for Ellick and/or NCIS in general, then you might enjoy Parknight). -w- Final thoughts: While editing, Ailee's "I Need You" came up on my playlist and DAYUM if the Ellick reunion feels didn't hit me like a ton dropped off a skyscraper! TT-TT Also, the title comes from that famous line in Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet: "Parting is such sweet sorrow, / That I shall say good night till it be morrow." (It felt fitting for the premise and I couldn't get it out of my head…even tho I've never read that Shakespeare work. :P)
Thanks for reading, and feel free to leave an anon/unsigned review via the FFN link or comment via the AO3 link at the top of the post, especially if you enjoyed this!

CATCHING MY BREATH, STARING OUT AN OPEN WINDOW
Rina Snow is based on Snowanna Rainbeau from Wreck It Ralph. She is a 20 year old human, teacher’s aide, and uses she/her pronouns. She has no powers. Rina is portrayed by Dara Reneé and she is open.
CATCHING MY DEATH, AND I COULDN’T BE SURE
When it came to the Sugar Racers, it went without saying that was Rina was the sweetest. There truly was not a mean bone in the girl’s body, and all of the gossip her friends indulged in, she stayed out of. She never understood the fun in talking negatively about others when you could lift them up instead. She just wanted everyone to get along and be happy, and she did everything in her power to be the reason someone smiled. Bringing her homemade snow cones to the track on hot days, cleaning the house while her mother was at work, complimenting nearly every stranger she crossed; any little thing she could to make life a tiny bit better for someone, she didn’t think twice. Which was exactly why she wanted to be an elementary school teacher, just like her mother. Children were so impressionable, and being a positive role in the life of a young person who may not have one otherwise... as much as Rina loved her time on the track, she knew her true calling. But that didn’t mean she couldn’t juggle both, and she did. She had to sit out some races for school events once she was hired as a teacher’s aide, but she didn’t mind. She would participate when she had the chance and when she didn’t, she was perfectly happy singing silly songs, cleaning up broken crayons and admiring kindergartners’ works of art... some of which amazed her as they were based on memories of a world she’d never known. A third generation Evermore resident, Rina only heard of life outside of the town from the new friends she made over the years and her students. She was happy where she was, even if given the chance she couldn’t imagine leaving the place she’d grown up in. But she know many people around Evermore missed the homes they’d come from, and for their sakes, she wished whatever was holding them in place would soon be broken... even if it meant losing a lot of people she’d grown to care about.
I HAD A FEELING SO PECULIAR
❀ Mary Gibbs: Her very best friend in the whole world! Rina hasn’t known Mary for long, but when they met, the two of them clicked immediately and it was like they’d known each other forever.  ❀ Joy Fraser: A teacher at the school Dara works at, she isn’t the aide for her classroom, but she adores her. If their lunches are ever at the same time, she makes sure to seek her out. ❀ Abby Park: Abby is another close friend with great taste in music, and Rina’s good luck charm. Every race she drags Abby along to, she finishes much higher with her cheering in the crowd!
THAT THIS PAIN WOULD BE FOR EVERMORE

𝙸𝚝'𝚜 𝚝𝚑𝚎 𝙶𝚛𝚎𝚊𝚝 𝙿𝚞𝚖𝚙𝚔𝚒𝚗, 𝚂𝚊𝚖 𝚆𝚒𝚗𝚌𝚑𝚎𝚜𝚝𝚎𝚛 (𝙿𝚝 𝟸)
The three arrive at Tracy's school, all in formal wear. Theo walks into a room full of art marks, looking up and seeing a bunch more hanging down. She sees a demonic-looking one and focuses on it. She hears screams and screeches in her ear - as if she's dreaming again before she feels someone walk up behind her.
"Man, these are freaky," Dean says, causing Theo to turn around to see him and Sam looking at the masks.
"Bring back memories?" Sam asks.
"What do you mean?" Theo asks, looking at him.
"Being a teenager, all that angst."
"No Sammy, I think that was just you." Dean jokes. Theo sighs, a little relieved that her brothers didn't see what was going on when she was staring at the mask.
"Oh." She says, eyes darting around at the masks.
"What'd you think I meant?" Sam asks.
"Nothing." Theo shakes her head. Dean looks over at the students, nudging Theo to look. They look over to see a student, putting a large bong-shaped piece into a kiln.
"Now that brings back memories," Dean says, chuckling. Theo chuckles back, nodding.
"Dude, I need a bigger kiln." The student says, releasing it's too small to fit his clay bong-shaped piece.
"You three wanted to talk to me?" Someone says from behind them, they turn to see a teacher carrying a box with a mug on top.
"Ah, Mr Harding." Sam greets.
"Oh, please, Don." He says, shaking Sam's hand.
"Okay, Don," Theo says as Don shakes her hand too before reaching out to shake Dean's.
"Even my students call me Don." He says, shaking Dean's hand.
"Yeah, we get it, Don," Dean replies as Don walks past them to place his box on the table. Dean, Sam and Theo then pull out their badges.
"I'm agent Getty, this is Agent Lee." Dean gestures to Sam. "And Agent Gibbs." He gestures to Theo. Don turns around looking at the badges. "We just had a few questions about, uh, Tracy Davis." They put their badges away. Don has a surprised look on his face.
"Uh, yeah, Tracy, uh, bright kid, loads of talent. It's a shame she got suspended." Don says. The three share a quick look of confusion.
"Uh, you two had a... uh, violent altercation." Dean questions.
"Yeah, she exploded. If Principal Murrow hadn't walked by when he did, Tracy would have clawed my eyes out."
"Why?"
"I, uh, you know, I was only trying to rap with her about her work. It had gotten inappropriate and disturbing."
"More disturbing, than, uh, those guys?" Theo asks, turning around and indicating the angry masks hanging on the wall and the ceiling.
"She would cover page after page with these bizarre cryptic symbols, and then there were the drawings." Don explained, "Detailed images of killings, gory, primitive, and she would depict herself in the middle of them, participating."
"Symbols, what kind of symbols? Uh, anything like this?" Sam holds up a bag to Don, showing a silver Celtic coin inside.
"Yeah, yeah, I think that might have been one of them."
"You know where Tracy is now?" Theo asks.
"I would imagine her apartment," Don says.
"Her apartment?" Dean questions.
"Yeah, she got here about a year ago, alone, as I understood it, as an emancipated teen. God only knows what her parents were like." Don says the three siblings share a look before Theo looks back to Don.
"Can you write it down for us please?" She asks, smiling.
==
Theo drives up and parks her car outside of their motel, turning the engine off before getting out. Dean gets out of the passenger side. Sam walks over to the two, having been to Tracy's apartment and finding nothing. The three now dressed back into their normal wear, Theo chewing on a lollypop.
"So?" Dean asks.
"Tracy was nowhere I could find. Any luck with her friends?" Theo shakes her head.
"Nah, luck is not our style. Her friends don't know where she is. It's like the bitch popped a broomstick." She jokes as the three make their way to their room.
"She could be making the third sacrifice any time," Sam says.
"Yes, thank you, Sam." They get close to their room before getting stopped by a kid dressed as an astronaut, holding out his sweet bucket to them.
"Trick or treat," He says.
"This is a motel," Dean says, gesturing around.
"So?"
"So we don't have any candy."
"No, we have a ton in the uh..." Sam looks back and points to the impala. Theo looks at him, sheepishly.
"We did, but it's gone." She gestures to her lolly in her mouth. "Last one." Sam looks between his older siblings, getting what she means. The kid looks unimpressed and Dean looks down at him.
"Sorry kid, we can't help ya," Dean says.
"I want candy." The kid says, huffing.
"Well, I think you've had enough," Dean says, causing Theo to pinch his arm and glare at him. Dean looks to her shrugging before backing at the kid, who glares at him and narrows his eyes. The kid then walks past Dean, shoving into him and Dean puts his hands up.
Sam unlocks their motel room and enters before immediately drawing his gun, and moving forwards in an offensive stance, ready to attack. Dean quickly followed.
"Who are you?!" Sam shouts. Theo rushes in, trying to stop the two.
"Sam! Dean! Wait, it's Castiel!" Dean puts his gun down the second he sees Cas, but Sam remained with his gun pointing in shock. "The angel." Theo puts her hand on his gun, pushing it down as Sam looks at Castiel, stunned. Theo notices the other man in the room, standing by the window. "Him, I don't know." Sam looks at Castiel in wonder and a smile crosses his face. Cas looks to Dean first.
"Hello, Dean." Cas greets. Dean nods "I am sorry about knocking you out the last time I saw you."
"It's no bother," Dean says, sarcastically. Can then looks to Sam.
"Hello, Sam." He walks forwards a little.
"Oh my God – er – uh – I didn't mean to – sorry." Sam stutters over his words, still stunned. "It's an honour, really, I – I've heard a lot about you." Sam steps forwards and holds out his hand to shake Castiel's.
Dean goes and closes the door to their room while Theo stares at the two, the lollypop still in her mouth. Castiel looks at Sam's hand, not too sure about what he wants. Sam then shakes it a little, and Castiel finally understands and shakes Sam's hand.
"And I, you. Sam Winchester - " Castiel then puts their other hand on top of Sam's. "The boy with the demon blood. Glad to see you've ceased your extracurricular activities."
"Let's keep it that way." The man at the window says, still facing it.
"Yeah, okay, chuckles," Dean says. Theo looks to Cas.
"Who's Mr Grumpy over there." She asks.
"This the raising of Samhain, have you stopped it?" Cas questions, not answering her question.
"Why?" Theo asks.
"Theodora, have you located the witch?"
"Yes, we've located the witch." She says.
"And is the witch dead?"
"No, but -"
"We know who it is." Dean finishes. Castiel takes the lolly out of Theo's mouth, making it disappear.
"Huh, what - I wasn't finished-" She watches as Castiel walks over to the table by the bed.
"Apparently the witch knows who you are too." He picks up a hex back, showing it to them. "This was inside the wall of your room. If we hadn't found it, surely one or all of you would be dead. Do you know where the witch is now?" The siblings exchange a look.
"We're working on it," Theo says as they look back to Cas.
"That's unfortunate," Cas says, looking over to the mystery man at the window.
"What do you care?" Dean asks.
"The raising of Samhain is one of the 66 seals," Castiel says.
"So this is about your buddy Lucifer?" Theo asks.
"Lucifer is no friend of ours." The mystery man says.
"It's just an expression," Theo says, side glancing at the man.
"Lucifer cannot rise. The breaking of the seal must be prevented at all costs."
"Okay, great, well now that you're here, why don't you tell us where the witch is, we'll gank her and everybody goes home," Dean says
"We are not omniscient. This witch is very powerful, she's cloaked even our methods." Cas explains.
"Okay, well we already know who she is, so if we work together –" Sam says, but is cut off by the man.
"Enough of this."
"Okay, who are you and why should I care?" Theo says, glaring at the man. He turns from the window, looking at Theo.
"This is Uriel, he's what you might call a... specialist," Cas says, looking at him. Uriel walks towards them.
"What kind of specialist?" Dean questions, as the group looks to Uriel, "What are you gonna do?"
"You – uh, three of you – you need to leave this town immediately," Cas warns.
"Why?" Theo questions.
"Because we're about to destroy it." Sam, Dean and Theo exchange a worried glance. Theo looks to Uriel, slight anger spreading across her face.
"So, this is your plan, you're gonna smite the whole friggin' town?" She says.
"There are a thousand people here," Sam says.
"One thousand two hundred fourteen."
"You son of a bitch." Theo says teeth gritted.
"And you're willing to kill them all?"
"This isn't the first time I've... purified a city."
"Look, I understand this is regrettable," Cas says, trying to ease the mood.
"Regrettable?" Dean questions.
"We have to hold the line. Too many seals have broken already."
"So, you screw the pooch on some seals and this town has to pay the price?" Theo says, looking to Cas.
"It's the lives of one thousand against the lives of six billion. There's a bigger picture here."
"Right, 'cause your bigger picture kind of guys," Theo says, snarky. Cas steps forwards, staring straight into Theo's eyes.
"Lucifer cannot rise. He does and hell rises with him. Is that something that you're willing to risk?" Cas says, Theo, biting her tongue.
"We'll stop this witch before she summons anyone," Dean says, looking between the two angels.
" Your seal won't be broken and no one has to die," Sam adds. The brothers trying to negotiate. Castiel continues to stare into Theo's eyes as if he's waiting for her to say something.
"We're wasting time with these mud monkeys," Uriel says. Cas turns away from Theo to Uriel.
"I'm sorry, but we have our orders."
"No, you can't do this, your’re angels," Sam says, causing Uriel to slightly chuckle. "I mean aren't you supposed to – You're supposed to show mercy."
"Says who?" He says.
"We have no choice," Cas says, his back facing the Winchesters.
"Of course, you have a choice. I mean, come on, what? You've never questioned a crap order, huh? What are you both, just a couple of hammers?" Theo says, clearly pissed over the whole situation.
"Look, even if you can't understand it, have faith. The plan is just."
"How can you even say that?" Sam asks.
"Because it comes from heaven, that makes it just," Cas says, turning to face him.
"Oh, it must be nice, to be so sure of yourselves," Dean says.
"Tell me something, Dean, when your father gave you an order, didn't you obey?" Dean looks to Cas, not saying anything. Theo glares at Cas, knowing that's pissed her off more than he brought up her father.
"Well, sorry boys look like the plans have changed." She says, causing Cas to tilt his head at her.
"You think you can stop us?" Uriel questions, an amused look on his face.
"No, but if you're gonna smite this whole town, then you're gonna have to smite us with it because we are not leaving," Theo says, all the while walking over to Uriel, standing face to face. "See, you went to the trouble of busting me out of hell. As well as keeping me alive all those years ago.  I figure I'm worth something to the man upstairs. So, you wanna waste me, go ahead, see how he digs that."
"He is worth something to the man upstairs too." Uriel gestures to Dean. "You are worth, with what you've got inside you. And you bet I will drag you out of here myself." Uriel threatens, but Theo remains unfazed.
"Yeah, but you'll have to kill us, then we're back to the same problem. I mean, come on, you're gonna wipe out a whole town for one little witch. Sounds to me like you're compensating for something." Theo smirks at Uriel. She then turns back around and walks back over to Cas, staring him right in the eyes. "We can do this. We will find that witch and we will stop the summoning."
"Castiel! I will not let these people-"
"Enough!" Castiel says, cutting Uriel off by holding his hand up to him. Cas stares at Theo for a second. "I suggest you move quickly." Sam and Dean walk out of the motel room, Theo stands back a little. She hears the flap of wings. "I can tell you want to ask me something." Theo turns to now just see Cas in the room, Uriel no longer there.
"This thing inside me, this, Grace?" She asks, Cas nods.
"What about it? Is something the matter with it?" Cas steps forward, going to place his hand on her head.
"What no, no. It's fine, I think?" She says, shaking her head. "But what Uriel said - How I'm worth it to god because of what's inside me. Just exactly who's Grace do I have inside me? It can't just be a regular angel. N-No offence, but I don't think people will be busting their assess off to keep me alive if this grace in me isn't important." Cas sighs, looking down to the floor before looking back up to Theo.
"You are correct, He had saved you after you were injured badly, with no chance of surviving. No one knows why, perhaps because you were a Winchester, or perhaps because he could tell your potential-
"ASTRONAUT!" Dean shoots from outside. Theo looks to Cas.
"Hold on a second." She goes to the door and sticks her head out, seeing the mess on her car. "What the hell happened?! My poor baby, I did nothing to that kid?!" She groans, walking towards them. "Right before we leave anywhere, you two are cleaning this up." She throws Dean the keys to the Impala, before walking back to the room.
"Where are you going?" Dean asks.
"To talk with Cas." She says, walking straight into the room and closing it behind her. Sam and Dean exchange a look, shrugging before looking at the egged Impala. The two looks at each other, holding out their hands before playing rock paper scissors, as to who will clean the car while the other gets some food. They do the round and Dean groans as he loses, all while Sam laughs.
"Always me dammit." Dean rolls up his sleeves while Sam watches him with amusement before leaving.
Back inside the motel room, Theo turns to Cas, gesturing her hand to him for him to continue. She leans against the post of the room, looking at the angel.
"As I was saying, what he didn't know is that his Grace would somehow bond with your soul," Cas explained.
"Yeah, you've told me that but who saved me?" Cas looks her in the eyes, "Who's grace could possibly be in my soul that makes Heaven want to keep me alive?"
"Gabriel." Cas says, "The archangel, Gabriel's grace bonded to you..."

Don’t settle
@hopscotchandlemon had this amazing idea and trusted me with it! I’m super excited about it!
Request: My idea is that Gibbs' girlfriend's teenage daughter phones him one night because she's getting hassled by a group of boys and she can't get hold of her mum. Gibbs goes and sorts things out and he gives the girl a lift home. On the way back the daughter gets upset, wondering if she'll ever find someone special who cares for her like Gibbs cares for her mum.

——————-
Gibbs was working on his boat one night when he heard his phone ring. He was really hoping he didn’t get a case, his girlfriend’s daughter Alli was out with some friends and his girlfriend Y/N was working late at the office.
“Yeah Gibbs” he said gruffly with out looking At the little screen.
“G-Gibbs I mom won’t pick up! I- can-can you pick me up?”
“Alli where are you? Are you okay?” He asked dropping his tools and getting up.
“I I’m at the movies can you come get me please?”
“Of course Alli I’m on my way. Are you okay?”
“I I’m fine I- just get here please?”
“I’m on my way, stay on the phone with me until I get there yeah?” Gibbs suggested
“Okay, thank you gibbsy” Alli whispered.
Gibbs smiled at the nick name the girl coined for him the first year he dated her mother.
Y/N and Gibbs had been together for almost 6 years now. Alli was a very standoffish 9 year old when they first got together. She had never known her father and was very close with her momma. Gibbs impressed Y/N with how quickly he won Alli over, without even having to bribe her with candy. Gibbs had fallen for Alli almost as quickly as he had for her mother. He went from a lonely man who lost his happy family, to a man with a secon chance, and two great girls who he could share his first girls with, and make new memories.
Gibbs stayed on the phone talking to Alli about anything he could think of. They landed on her current favorite topics; painting, the boat they were working on, and ice hockey. He was glad to be able to cheer the girl up a bit, but that didn’t cool the fire in him that someone had hurt his little girl.
He pulled up to the movie theater to see Alli sitting on the curb alone, a large group of teenage boys and a few girls standing off to the side. He could clearly see that Alli was trying to get as far away from them as she could.
“Hey Alli-cat you ready?” Gibbs announced, making sure to shoot the onlooking teens a look as Alli got in the car.
“Wanna talk about it?” He asked and Alli huffed
“you hate talking Gibbs” she retorted
“Not to my y/L/N girls I don’t.” He smiled.
“God how are you like this?!” Alli cried. Gibbs pulled over to a parking spot away from the theater.
“Like what Als.”
“Y-your so caring and you love my mom so much! You would never ever have asked a girl on a date and then showed up with all your friends and kissed another girl, in front of the one you asked out, to make them laugh” she sniffles. “I know you guys are older but-but the way you love Shannon and the way you love mom, I-I’m never g-gonna have that.” She cried and Gibbs tucked her into a hug.
“Sweetheart if I knew you wouldn’t stop me I’d go teach that boy a lesson.” He said and continued before Alli could tell him he better not. “Alli-cat, You are 15 years old. You have time to find someone who will treat you the way you deserve.”
“I just-I don’t want to have to go through the tuckers and the my dads and the your ex wives to get to the man who loves me the way you love mom. I shouldn’t have to! Mom tells me every day not to settle for anything less than my very own Jethro Gibbs but what if I don’t deserve that?”
“First of all Allison Y/L/N, you deserve that more than anything in the world. I can’t promise you won’t get hurt along the way, but you will find a man that loves you the way I love your mom. Most girls don’t have a mom like you do, that teaches them to be strong, and wait and fight for what they want. We are both very lucky to have her. It may not be easy Alli but trust me, there is a man, or person, out there who will love you the way you deserve.”
Alli looked at Gibbs slightly teary eyed and a little shocked.
“What?” He grunted.
“You just said so many words at one time!” She giggled.
Gibbs playfully rolled his eyes as he started the truck again.
“You Y/L/N girls have a way of getting me to do that. First night I met your mom I talked more than I did the whole month before.”
Alli giggled at that too.
“Mom says you swept her off her feet that night.” Alli smiled.
“Truth is Alli, all I did was care and let her in a little. Which was not easy for me at all, but when it’s right it’s right Als. It takes work and courage, but there is someone who’ll sweep you off your feel just by askin’ you to dance too.” Gibbs smiled at the memory.
“You and mom kinda ruined me for relationships, I have very high expectations.” She huffed but Gibbs could see her smile.
“You’re welcome.” He joked back.
“So this kids name is tucker?” Gibbs asked after Alli had cranked the radio and he could tell she was feeling more herself. “Don’t you even think about it dad!” Alli said and froze a little. It wasn’t the first time she said it but she’d never said it to him, usually when talking to Y/N about him. Gibbs smiled.
“Like that title” he said and she smiled back.
“Yeah?”
“Alli you can call me anything you want, with in reason. But title or not, you’re my daughter and I love you.”
“Love you too dad.” Alli smiled and went back to singing.
When they got home Y/N was just pulling up in the drive and checking her phone. Gibbs saw her listen to what must have been Alli’s voice mail and panic. He got to her as she opened her car door .
“Hey you” he said and kissed her softly. “Don’t worry about the voicemails I got her.”
“Hi mom!” Alli said giving her a hug. “I’m gonna go get something to eat” she sang walking past them.
“How do you do that?” Y/N asked.
“Do what?” Gibbs asked with a smirk.
“She called me in tears not 20 minutes Go and now she’s all bouncy and Alli again.
“Threaten to beat up the jerk who asked her out then brought another girl and all his friends” Gibbs said as he led her up to the house.
“I’ll kill him” y/n said
“Don’t worry she’s alright, told me something you said though” he smiled.
“Oh yeah? What’s that”
“That she shouldn’t settle for anyone less than her Jethro Gibbs.” He smirked and she turned to him.
“Yeah that’s not a Secret. J I waited almost 40 years to meet a man who loves me the way you do, and I’d do it all again if that meant I ended up with you.” Y/N said and cupped his cheek.
Gibbs smiled and kissed her “glad I took a chance on beautiful, sassy, 37 year old you and that shy scrappy lil 9 year old with pig tails.”
Y/N smiled and leaned up to kiss him again. “Me too j” she smiled but looked a little confused.
“What?” He asked
“That was sweet but very wordy for you.”
“You Y/L/N girls, you’re the reason I talk so much, but your always questioning it.”
“You love us” y/N said
“Sure do” Gibbs agreed as he kissed her head and led her into the house.
“Dad did you get more of that cereal?” Alli called from the kitchen as they came through the door.
“Yeah in the right cabinet” Gibbs called back with a proud smile and turned to a grinning Y/N who made a cheering motion and let out a “FINALLY”
“Huh?” Gibbs questioned.
“She’s been referring to you as dad when you’re not around since she was 11, told me she was waiting for the right time to try it out with you! I’m so proud” Y/N sniffled.
Gibbs’ half smile grew even wider. “That okay with you? Me being her dad?” He asked.
“Jethro Gibbs in my mind you’ve been her dad since the first day you picked her up from school sick, made her star chicken noodle soup and sang her to sleep when she was in the fourth grade. A title is just that, a name. One you deserve so very much, but you are and always will be that girls dad. We don’t need a legal document to tell us that, just like I don’t need one to tell me we’ll love each other for the rest of our lives. You’re stuck with us J.”
Gibbs smiles and pulls y/n into a kiss before saying “wouldn’t want it any other way.”
