Has Y'zel ever dealt with a situation in which a book from the Great Gubal Library has been claimed by someone who does not wish to surrender it? Especially if they are using the knowledge within for dubious ends?

If so, then how did he respond? Did he attempt to negotiate? Consider arranging to have the book stolen (or stealing it himself)? Confront the individual and threaten them? Or shrug his shoulders and make a note of the fate of the tome, leaving it to someone else to deal with another time...

Many times! That is why he hates field work so much, as he's often kidnapped or greatly hindered. All the guild members deal with this constantly! There's a whole team that's dedicated to retrieving them. Despite the interest in return, Old Sharlayan doesn't recognize Gubal as reclaimed and that adds to the mess of disputes.
