The Path to Peridea.

Baylan Skoll says that Peridea is from a fairy tale known to Jedi younglings, a children’s story, but in reality Baylan says this to remind us that Star Wars is exactly just that, a fairy tale, a children’s story.

What does “Peridea” mean?

peri: (in Persian mythology) a mythical superhuman being, originally represented as evil but subsequently as a good or graceful genie or fairy.

ASTRONOMY

peri: denoting the point nearest to a specified celestial body.

from Greek peri ‘about, around’.

dea: Latin for “goddess”

The descent into the underworld is one stage of the hero’s and the heroine’s journey.

As @better-call-mau1 pointed out, the Path to Peridea sounds a lot like the “path to perdition.”

perdition: (in Christian theology) a state of eternal punishment and damnation into which a sinful and unpenitent person passes after death.

Perhaps this is where Thrawn is, in a kind of hell.

But as in the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice, a brave lover is willing to descend into Hades to rescue the beloved. This is Sabine Wren’s mission to find Ezra Bridger.

There’s another meaning to “Peridea” though.

It is a genus of moths from the family Notodontidae.

The moth in The Lord of the Rings films brought Gandalf the Grey hope when he was imprisoned in the Tower of Orthanc. When the moth appeared, it was a sign that Gandalf would soon be rescued by the giant eagles, which are used as symbols of divine intervention in Tolkien’s fiction.

Please note that the letters on the star-map to Peridea resemble the Viking runes Tolkien used in The Hobbit. Both The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings are stories of a hero’s journey filled with danger and wonder. The brave protagonists have to go “there and back again” just as Sabine will in the Ahsoka series.

I think that Baylan Skoll reminding us that Star Wars is a children’s story is significant. Consider this quote from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J. K. Rowling.

“Of house-elves and children’s tales, of love, loyalty, and innocence, Voldemort knows and understands nothing. Nothing. That they all have a power beyond his own, a power beyond the reach of any magic, is a truth he has never grasped.”

In all the great fairy tales, the love and loyalty of the protagonist is the key to the triumph of good over evil.

Although she isn’t strong in the Force, Sabine Wren’s love for and loyalty to Ezra Bridger will strengthen her resolve on her road of trials along the Path to Peridea. With Ahsoka the Grey by her side, Sabine is ready to leave the comfort of Lothal (her Shire) and go to Peridea to save the man she loves.

Here’s Huyang reminding us that this is indeed a fairy tale, a children’s story.

And here’s Thrawn, showing us how the villain “knows and understands nothing.”

“You wouldn't understand,” says Sabine.

“Perhaps not,” Thrawn responds.

What he doesn’t understand is love. The love and devotion that Sabine and Ezra have for each other is the power the dark lord knows not, and it will be his undoing.

Competitor Reveal!

I had initially only wanted to include around 64 characters but with all the submissions I got I wanted to try to include as many as possible and as many different kinds of nonhumans as I could! But I also kept it to 3 characters max per media/franchise and also tried to include both popular and lesser known characters/media. I still ended up with a bigger bracket than I intended-- I'm very sorry if a character you nominated didn't make it in! If Star Wars Resistence should have been in live action and connecting with Sequel Trilogy(Just similar to Marvel Cinematic), BooBoo Stewart was perfect to play Kazuda Xiono(That BooBoo Stewart First he play Seth the were-wolf from Twilight and the he play Jay from Descendants and because Kaz Is the son of Mart Mattin and the great-nephew of Jun Sato from Star Wars Rebels and even Mart and his Crew Iron Squadron are very unlike Ezra Bridger and his crew and even Jyn Erso and her crew and because Giancarlo Esposito play Genie/Magic Mirror from Once Upon a Time and Akira from Jungle Book and before he will play Moff Gideon in the Mandalorian while Mena Massoud play Aladdin and before he will play Ezra Bridger in the Mandalorian and because the Loth-Wolves and Aladdin are connected) and Elle Purnell was perfect to play Torra Doza(and because Elle Purnell play Young Maleficent in Maleficent before we will see Star Wars Rebels and that Maleficent predict Bad Batch where we will see Anakin and baby Ezra Just like Maleficent with baby Aurora, that Elle Fanning play Aurora, and because Dakota Fanning her sister will play young Amilyn Holdo in the Mandalorian while in Last Jedi was played by Laura Dern and because Ben Solo was similar to Marnie that he killed Thrawn in the Mandalorian Just like Marnie killed the Sailor when She was young that he was played by Bruce Dern the Father of Laura Dern, and that Elle Purnell play Emma Bloom in Miss Peregrine when we see for the First Time Mart Mattin and his crew in Rebels season three that too predicted Star Wars Resistence After Jun Sato gets killed by Thrawn during the Battle of Atollon that Mart Mattin will be follow his steps in Rebels season Four while he tried to help Ezra and Hera to frees Lothal) and they will be so great with Adam Driver that he play Ben Solo.

Thinking about “Why does Ahsoka have to be live action?”:

-Why… why do we not want to get the original band back together? Ashley Eckstein and Tiya Sircar and Vanessa Marshall and them. I don’t even think Ezra’s voice actor’s had a job in 5 years.

-I made peace with it a long time ago but live action Ahsoka’s… lego-“hair”.

-Live Thrawn is not on Will Smith-Genie’s level of cursed but… still. Dave Filoni got him right the first time in animation. If it ain’t broke.

-I saw live-action Zeb and I don’t want his cursed presence here. Lasat in general look awful outside of Rebels. Like… we all loved Master Jaro by virtue of him being Cal’s mentor, but… I can’t look him directly in the face whenever I play Fallen Order.

-Why not just… divert all the animation resources they’re spending on Bad Batch for Ahsoka? Spares us from having to hear Michelle Ang’s godawful “voice acting” ever again.

Okay, I’ve been thinking about this answer for a while, so apologies for the late response! It’s a really good question.

I’m about to take this insanely seriously, just to let you know. Also, most of my thought processes are for moving forward in their story, although I realize you may be asking me about in Rebels. (Which is really easy- Genie=Zeb, Abu=Chopper, Rajah=Hera protecting Sabine from character development 😅)

So, for Genie. I’m sure you’ve seen the meme where they show a picture of live action Aladdin and say “Unknown Space Colorized” or whatever and Genie’s supposed to be Thrawn. However, Thrawn does not have the good natured comedic tone that Genie has. I’d like to say a Force ghost? Maybe Kanan? But I still feel like it doesn’t match. I think maybe the best match up is the Purrgil because they always have great timing ( ba dum tss🥁) I also considered Zeb, but I don’t think Disney is prepared to make him live action.

Ultimately, though, Genie plays the role of the Supernatural Aid/Old Wise Wizard in Aladdin’s Hero’s Journey. He is also only helpful when he wants to be. This screams Rosario Dawson’s Ahsoka Tano to me. (I’m literally begging her to add a little lightheartedness to the role. It’s not the end of the world. OR explain what duty she has set out to perform and its purpose like Yoda or Obi-Wan.)

Abu, Abu, Abu, Abu. He’s one of my favorite sidekicks. He gets into shenanigans. He is a bit independent. Both Aladdin and Jasmine find him helpful and sweet, but mostly to Jasmine and not that often. I personally would always cast Chopper as Abu, but if we’re talking about the future it would also be really fun to have Grogu as Abu. (I started writing this like an entire year ago and am determined to answer this ask. That being said, the latest episodes have given Grogu more agency and less object and I really enjoy it. But this would be later in the Mandoverse.)

Rajah is a great question. Rajah is so protective of Jasmine, yet allows her to run away when she needs to. And Rajah has an attitude I aspired to have as a kid. My best guess is Rajah is somewhere between Hera and Alrich. Because Rajah is a replacement parent to Jasmine- she literally got the tiger from her dead mother. I’m assuming Sabine’s going to get a pep talk from Hera at some point in Ahsoka that will give her some hope. It would be cool to have some sort of reflection about her family, maybe how they felt about Sabine staying on Lothal, and confirm whether or not they’re still alive, but less expectations equal better enjoyment in my experience.

… I should’ve expected most of my answers to be the same.

What are your Extremely Italian Opinions? Anything from politics to pasta, drop some hot takes

mmmmm good question! even though i'm not a proud italian as i'm very critical of this country and i'd love to live abroad in the future, i do have typical italian opinions that i'm ready to die for. I’m sure these will be mainly about food, but let’s see:

-say whatever you want, but italian food is the best food in the entire world, not only it’s healthy but it’s also delicious and no nation can compare :) no you can’t change my mind :) every time i watch Ratatouille i cringe so bad at the beginning when they say that French cuisine is known to be the best in the world??? that’s so false and i don’t even find it funny, we italians take food so seriously and if you dare criticize something about our food we take it very personal, yes, IT IS THAT DEEP.

-idk if it's a take but i find it funny that we don't use ice that much?? like i was so shocked to learn that smoothies are made WITH ICE?? we almost never use it, we definitely don't put it in coffee and we have this strange belief that ice gives you stomachache, especially if you want to take a bath, we usually wait two or three hours before taking a bath after a meal, especially if there's ice in it somewhere lol i think it's a typical Italian Grandma Advice but we all follow it religiously. Even though i know it's bizarre i can't help but wait at least two hours after my meal before having any kind of contact with water

-No one dubs movies and cartoons like italians. Our voice actors are superior (but the italian Rebels dub is terrible, don’t watch Rebels in italian, everyone sounds very bad except for Thrawn, surprisingly his voice better than the original and i've already talked about this in my ig stories some time ago haha) and i often watch shows and movies in italian even tho it's "trendy" nowadays to watch everything in english. Tbh i think that a country with a strong tradition of voice acting shouldn't neglect it in favor of the original language, just because something was made in english it doesn't make it better. For example, the prequel trilogy is insanely better in italian, while i love Hayden's performance as Anakin i think that sometimes...it lacks emotion? the italian dub makes up for those parts, i couldn't understand why international fans used to despise the PT so much at first, especially the acting. There isn't one single character in the prequels that sounds bad, really. Same thing goes for Disney classics, i find them 100% funnier in italian (the most memorable example is Emperor's New Groove, the main characters are voiced by some of the funniest comedians we have, they all did an amazing job), even tho some characters are voiced by celebrities who don't do voice acting on a regular basis the result is always phenomenal. Honorable mention to the Genie in Aladdin who is voiced by Gigi Proietti, an actor and comedian of immesurable talent who passed away a few days ago, his performance is on the same level of Robin Williams' imo. So yeah, i'm a huge fan of italian voice acting in case you didn't notice

-regarding politics, lots of people here say that we have the "best democracy in the world" or something like that.........eh, i highly doubt it. I hate this country because there is no meritocracy, you're most likely to succeed if you have good connections or a powerful family. The worst part is that this applies to EVERYTHING and it's terrible. Also there's a big imbalance between North Italy and South Italy, so it's hard to succeed and have access to a good education if you're born in the South and you're poor. And it's a shame. I was lucky enough to live near a very good university so i pay for taxes and nothing else, but only those who are born in wealthy families in the south can afford university in the north as universities in the south are not that good in general. it's really a shame bc south italy is freaking beautiful but the government doesn't spend the same amount of time, energy and money and that's also one of the reasons crime rates are so high there. truly every single issue in Italy could be resolved by funding our education system but most politicians don't give a flying fuck about it and it shows :/

-University in italy is considered a privilege, something that people do because they are too lazy to go to work and get "a real job". we have one of the lowest rates of student getting a degree in europe and yet a lot of people are expected to be jobless for years after graduating uni. it's crazy. there is no respect or consideration for university students since you're not obliged by law to attend one but it's your choice. university professors are terrible, they act like we don't have a personal life and in most cases will make everything so hard that you'll need to take an exam even 15 times before passing it. a friend of mine who is a prodigy in Math attended a really good university in Switzerland and he told me that you can take exams a max of 3 times there but you usually don't need to because they are much easier to pass?? also exams are so hard to pass, my degree is a living hell, you have to take multiple tests, do projects and assignments to pass one freaking exam, while the entire world has the paper system, so you basically write a paper and then the teacher grades it and guess what??? YOU LEARN STUFF ANYWAY. i hate that university in italy takes so much years, tears and mental energy to finish and this leads me to my next point

-healthcare. Italy has one of the best healthcare systems in the world because, well, it's free! You have some kind of bills to pay, but they are not as expensive as in the US, the country got a huge debt at some point in the 60s/70s (i guess??) to afford free healthcare but it was really worth it!! HOWEVER, i think it's pointless to have free healthcare for literally anything besides mental health. sadly, mental health is a tough topic here, if you suffer from a mental illness you're considered crazy, an attention seeker, incapable of being a normal citizen and stuff like that. therapists are super expensive and only wealthy people can afford them. personally, i can't afford one and i would love to since i suffer from anxiety and maybe other things (but i guess i'll never know since my country doesn't give a fuck lmao). and university students are most likely to have mental health issues due to the terrible conditions we live in, yet society ignores us, this results in very high suicide rates among students in their twenties. i honestly hate it so fucking much, especially because studying psychology is considered "easy" and you'll probably be jobless after your degree. psychologists are doctors, they deserve to be paid like any other doctor because they save lives, for real.

So uhm this was supposed to be funny but ended being very critical hahahaha

So a friend pointed out early Ezra looks like Aladdin and Thrawn is blue like the genie and we all had a good laugh about "never had a friend like me" but then I couldn't get the idea of Thrawn saying that in a.. sexy way haha i had to share my shame.
