Kelas has juice on his chin, which he dabs with the heel of his palm. "Hands? No." He beckons with sticky fingers, says, "Come here, karyut."

The translator never figured out what to do with karyut. Standard doesn't have an endearment for husband-of-my-husband - support, perhaps, for Garak's opinion that the Federation's language does its citizens a romantic disservice. Julian's been relying less on translations, anyway.

Three of them of course. With IDIC principle inside the thrupple (both for them & for me to ship them) :D It's just the fact that Bashir & Parmak work together at hospital that makes plenty of inspiration sources. But at home...

hi! what are your thought/headcanon on parmak, if you'd like to share?

okay so!!!!! parmak is fascinating. even if we are talking pure ds9 canon it is???? so rich. tain specifically mentions him when he's talking to garak about past interrogations, which TO ME indicates he has special significance and tain knows that.

obviously "his eyes, his eyes" is deeply homoerotic so I don't need to even dwell on that.

so im not in the least surprised that andy and, later, una mccormack latched onto this character. there's sooooo much going on.

i think it was andy who introduced the idea that parmak would ultimately forgive and befriend garak post canon, and una who expanded it to talk about why parmak was targeted in the first place. i think she was the one who solidified in my mind the idea of a leftist anarchist parmak who reads audre lorde and such - which is essentially what i draw from in my depictions of him. (HEAVILY influenced by anarchist journalist robert evans who hosts the amazing podcast behind the bastards, check it out)

so there's a little bit of horseshoe theory here, for me. cardassians are into loyalty and both garak and parmak see themselves as being deeply loyal to the ideal of cardassia that they serve - for parmak it is much more community focused, for garak it is much more authoritarian. but i think it's more...idk. like, im american, we are very individualistic in our stated ideals, but I don't think cardassia is like that. so for them maybe it's easier to find that common ground and even if garak is being forcefully taught that parmak and his ilk are WRONG!!!!! he is always going to be more open to anarchocommunist ideals coming from a collectivist culture. and i think that's neat

i also think it's interesting to explore why parmak would forgive garak for essentially sending him to a prison camp. there's sooo much there. there's what i already mentioned- that they both recognize the other is trying to serve a greater good. there's the fact that some ppl are just Like That - forgiveness feels good to them, feels natural.

i also think maybe parmak enjoys the fact that garak is unnerved by his forgiveness and never really knows what to do with it. something that i think is under explored in garmakshir is garak's sense of, like..."i owe him this." like as much as it's just hot for him to have two weed smoking girlfriends brilliant doctor boyfriends, he is also pathologically driven to "share" julian with parmak. (which is literally not how actual relationships work, but we're talking about how it goes down in garak's little pumpkin brain) he does NOT feel like he deserves julian and there's all kinds of ways he can do mental gymnastics about it.

im all over the place with it but basically i relate to parmak an extremely normal amount. also beta canon uses he/him pronouns so that's where im at with this post but I switch it up for different things bc i think it's funnier if you just never know what their gender is going to be. it's like a kinder surprise

Okay I'm going to skip over the ones that are currently being posted because you can go look at those if you want. Here's what's in my google docs:

Julian just being a general menace to creepy old man Tain in prison and in the process, realizing that he and Garak actually do have feelings for each other.

What if "Extreme Measures" but Garak was the sidekick and instead of going into his brain, they fuck in front of him? We report, you decide. This is going to be Sloan POV and a bit crack but hopefully also hot, creepy, and disgusting.

Various Defiant first-time scenarios. oh my god they were bunkmates!!!!

The one where they DON'T get blasted with sex pollen, but have to spend two hours in a quarantine cell together so they end up fucking anyway

The one where they crash on an alien planet that expects them to reenact an ancient fertility ritual, and they are EXTREMELY normal about it

Followup to "Don't Rain On My Parade" where they fuck and confess their feelings. I'll get there eventually.

Post-canon where Garak comes to DS9 for diplomatic meetings. I don't wanna say anything else about this one but it's got a very funny premise and I can't wait to inflict it on everyone.

Risa fic. They're fake dating. Garak's trying to stop a terrorist attack, or so he claims. This one has everything!!!

PWP one-shot on the assumption that Julian only avoided sleeping with Garak because he knew he might be outed as an augment that way. As soon as the DBIP situation is sorted, he comes over and drags him to bed. Fun concept, bit angsty, definitely want to finish this one soon.

Something post-canon that plays with this idea that Garak and Julian are, in fact, both deeply infatuated and deeply anxious about their relationship working out and consequently are just so, so insane about each other and constantly playing mind games on themselves. I came up with an ENTIRE concept for why Julian's there, etc etc and then I just ran out of steam, but I'm going to get back to this one for sure.

A few Parmakshir and/or Garmakshir cut scenes from longer postcanon works that I intend to publish separately for people who don't like Parmak being Involved (TM) with them, but simply could not contain in my head.

The one where they play "Mystery of the Druids" in the holosuite. Why? Because I said so.

The one where they bring in a Vulcan healer to mind-meld and try to bring Julian out of his coma after the Lethean attack in "Distant Voices," and she's unable to get through his subconscious defenses, so they start sending his friends in as middlemen and that fails too, until finally the only volunteer who hasn't tried yet is Garak.

The one where Julian sees a vision of himself in the future and tries to figure out why he looks so happy.

The one where Vic insists on singing "Baby, It's Cold Outside" and Garak and Julian's conversation about it turns out to be surprisingly revealing. This one's going to be a Christmas fic, but I've got bits of it written.

I am excited about all of them to varying degrees, I think. Welcome to my twisted mind.
