Highlights include, but are not limited to the following:
Year 4:
Winter 26:
We're starting late, 'cause we always start late!
Kimi has acquired additional purple shorts
E.B. dies in the mines.
I barely escape the mines with my life, putrid ghosts are the worst

Then E.B. doesn't make it to bed and dies a third time in one day!
Winter 27:
Kimi's turn to die in the mines
E.B. meets Grandpa Jr. for the first time
I go and crack open some geodes and artifact troves
Kimi dies again!!
Grandpa Jr. visits Kimi to console her
Winter 28:
It's New Year's Eve!
Elliott gives me a bottle of wine. Not grape wine, just wine wine.
(Harvey and Alex didn't get E.B. and Kimi anything...)
Possum gives me a perch :')
trading some jade in the desert!
EB reports that the guys're all watching gridball at the saloon, and that George skipped church for this. (The seahawks are losing.)
It's keg day!!
Kimi dies, but the quest is completed!!
HAPPY GARBAGE YEAR! Kimi called it an early night, but E.B. hands me some chocolate cake to celebrate
#blessed
Year 5:
New year resolutions for the garbage crew:
I wanna befriend Leo
Kimi want more purple shorts
E.B. wants to complete all her skills
Spring 1:
Elliott's resolution is to write, write, and write!
Mr. Qi wants a prismatic grange, incredibly annoyingly.
Planting strawberries!!
(I acquire farming mastery late in the night...)
Kimi dies halfway into bed
Spring 2:
Lewis sends me 500g. Is this a bribe? Is he trying to get me to rat Kimi out?
The ducks have been released, but they're still completely useless
HORSENAPPING (nah it's fine, take care of Frucko for me)
I'm still trying to find Cave Jelly...
Spring 3:
OH RIGHT, I had wine in the casks! We're gonna make big wine bucks tonight!
Kimi gets a magical makeover!
Hitting the point of the session where I dunno what to do with my time
Kimi has to step away for IRL reasons, doesn't make it to bed
EB doesn't make it to bed for regular reasons
Wiggly money!! (best quality: his wiggles)
Spring 4?:
end of session, gotta call it early
for those who haven't been keeping track: that's 9 deaths tonight! E.B. with 4, Kimi with 5, and I miraculously managed to survive.
Kimi demands "SPLODE ME", but I don't have any bombs on hand
(by the way, Kimi's house is amazing)
-
TO-DO:
we need to process a ton of gold and iridium so I can finish the crystalarium shed
I wanna reorganize the storage a little bit; there's some good bones, but I think we can do better!
We've still gotta fill out those masteries!
Gotta find Cave Jelly, River Jelly, and Sea Jelly so we can smoke a fish and give it to a raccoon!
(I've still got such a long shopping list......)
Good garbage, everybody!

The Architecture of Rain World: Layers of History
A major theme in Rain World's world design that often goes overlooked is the theme of, as James Primate, the level designer, composer and writer calls it, "Layers of History." This is about how the places in the game feel lived-in, and as though they have been built over each other. Here's what he said on the matter as far back as 2014!
Tumblr media
The best example of this is Subterranean, the final area of the base game and a climax of the theme. Subterranean is pretty cleanly slpit vertically, there's the modern subway built over the ancient ruins, which are themselves built over the primordial ruins of the depths. Piercing through these layers is Filtration System, a high tech intrusion that cuts through the ground and visibly drills through the ceiling of the depths.
Two Sprouts, Twelve Brackets, the friendly local ghost, tells the player of the "bones of forgotten civilisations, heaped like so many sticks," highlighting this theme of layering as one of the first impressions the player gets of Subterranean. Barely minutes later, the player enters the room SB_H02, where the modern train lines crumble away into a cavern filled with older ruins, which themselves are invaded by the head machines seen prior in outskirts and farm arrays, some of which appear to have been installed destructively into the ruins, some breaking through floors.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
These layers flow into each other, highlighting each other's decrepit state.
The filtration system, most likely the latest "layer," is always set apart from the spaces around it. At its top, the train tunnels give way to a vast chasm, where filtration system stands as a tower over the trains, while at the bottom in depths, it penetrates the ceiling of the temple, a destructive presence. (it's also a parallel to the way the leg does something similar in memory crypts, subterranean is full of callbacks like that!)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Filtration system is an interesting kind of transition, in that it is much later and more advanced than both of the areas it cuts between. This is a really interesting choice from James! It would be more "natural" to transition smoothly from the caves of upper subterranean to the depths, but by putting filtration system in between, the two are clearly demarcated as separate. The difference in era becomes palpable, the player has truly found something different and strange.
Depths itself is, obviously, the oldest layer not only of subterranean but of the game itself. The architecture of Depths has little to do with the rest of the game around it, it's a clear sign of the forgotten civilisations that our friend Two Sprouts, Twelve Brackets showed us, there's not actually that much to say about it itself, it's mostly about how it interacts with the other layers of subterranean.
That said, Subterranean is far from the only case of the theme of layers of history. It's present as soon as the player starts the game!
The very first room of the game, SU_C04, is seemingly a cave. It is below the surface, the shapes of it are distinctly amorphous rather than geometric. (well. kind of, it doesn't do a very good job of hiding the tile grid with its 45 degree angles.)
Tumblr media
But let's take a closer look, shall we?
Tumblr media
See that ground? it's made of bricks. The entire cave area of outskirts is characterised by this, the "chaotic stone" masonry asset is mixed with brickwork, unlike the surface ruins which are mostly stone. This, seemingly, is an inversion of common sense! The caves are bricks and the buildings are stone. This is not, however, a strange and unique aspect but a recurring motif.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This occurs enough in the game for it to be clearly intentional, but why would materials such as bricks be used in otherwise natural looking terrain?
The answer lies in the "Layers of History" theme. This is in fact, something that happens in real life, and it's called a tell
To be specific, a tell is a kind of mound formed by settlements building over the ruins of previous iterations of themselves. Centuries of rubble and detritus form until a hill grows from the city. Cities such as Troy and Jericho are famous examples. The connections to the layers of history theme are pretty clear here, I think. Cities growing, then dying, then becoming the bedrock of the next city. The ground, then, is made of bricks, because the ground is the rubble of past buildings. The bones of forgotten civilisations, heaped like so many sticks!

breaking my silence to say i think kevin would absolutely devour stardew valley. yes he would be too busy creating the most efficient farm you have ever seen to romance or even befriend the characters but after successfully creating a monopoly on truffle oil and diamonds in the valley he would take a short break from business to marry the town doctor

I’ve spent an absurd amount of time pearl hunting with TWO slug pups to the point to me Survivor is canonically a single mom with two kids going to college.
I’ll doodle them tomorrow for fun.

I’ve seen loads of series generate a ton of content farm trash and other such brainrot inducing garbage what the creators are helpless to do anything about.
Mostly on YouTube obviously.
I’ve seen it with the backrooms, FNAF, creepypastas, Garten of Banban (what even IS that?!), Poppy Playtime, Skibidi Toilet, and all that ElsaGate (Jesus CHRYSTE!!! Do NOT look it up!) shit.
But I’ve NEVER seen it happen as quickly as it has with The Amazing Digital Circus.
It’s fascinating and terrifying!
It’s like speedrunning the death of art.
*like a high speed car crash into a brick wall*
It’s amazing and sickening to behold.

hating the invention of the new genre of tumblr blog that i can only define as "tumblr poll note mills" that runs entirely on user submissions or pulls from hugely popular things most people know about. Like oh have you listened to this song? have you seen this painting? do you use this program? Who cares.

Garbage Farm #49
2024-04-01, session #49 of Garbage Farm! Spanning Winter 9 through Winter 16 of Year 4!
cast:
me (@mothmute)
E.B. (@blueherin)
Kimi (@2kimi2furious)
Highlights include, but are not limited to the following:
Winter 9
(oh god, I forgot my literal clownshoes)
jack be nimble, jack be thicc
trash baguette, hon hon hon!
raccoon doing tippy taps wants smoked fish!!
demetrius wants us to catch a bunch of squid
Winter 10
Pam sent me drawer beer, thanks Pam
Kimi sold a cow—Matchu—to make room for an Ostrich
Mr. Qi is offering bad quests—get to floor 100 of the skull cavern without eating, OR grow his stupid Qi beans—and I don't wanna deal with 'em!
Do wanna build the farm obelisk, though
Late-night squid hunting with the whole crew :)
Winter 11
Kimi wants to know where we keep the explosives...
I defeat the Glacierfish!
We defeat the squid for Demetrius!!
Poor time management defeats me, and I eat shit on the lawn!!!
Winter 12
Shane sends Kimi a mail-pizza, classic
Now that we've defeated the squid, we can go celebrate Squidfest by defeating more squid!
(I am the only one who'd figured out to make Squid-bait, nobody else gets much of anything today)
Winter 13
Shane sends me a mail-pizza, classic
Day two of Squidfest!
(I deliver a ruby to Jodi)
Winter 14
I take my first Mastery, Combat!
E.B. delivers some Taro Root. Bartholomew runs up to her and stares.
Where the hell is E.B.'s husband (Harvey), anyway?
She eventually catches up to him at 11PM, and gifts him a cup of coffee. Apparently he didn't expect anybody—including his wife—to remember his birthday.
The cherry wine is mediocre.
Winter 15
With the new renovationss, my house might be too damn big.
Shane asks Kimi to fence his stolen pepper poppers, and she wants no part of this.
Bad news: We're out of hay. Good news: I bought a book from Marney that lets me buy things from her even when she isn't there!
I buy a ton of hay, and a couple of those books so everybody else can buy things from Marney while she's not there
Kimi reads both of them like an asshole.
"that's not how books work at all"
We also get a cat tree for Wild Possum!
The Night Market starts up while I'm fishing in the cave
I want to go on the submarine, but it's currently occupied.
Guess I'll satisfy myself with an upright piano and today's original Lupini painting.
E.B. makes it home in time, narrowly averting tragedy
Winter 16
(non-canon day)
We bomb the miserable ducks, for old times' sake
E.B. gets moidered, whoops!! (roblox OOF sound)
TO-DO:
god I've still got so much stuff to do, I didn't get down to the skulls even once in these past couple sessions
-
Good garbage, everybody!!

The world and the internet would become a better place if we banned algorithms. Like literally every new shit development is encouraged and born because of algorithms and humans urge to play algorithms for profit like all these things:
clickbait
content farming
content theft
rage culture and fear mongering (anger & fear gives more clicks -> more traffic -> more net worth)
echo chambers because algorithms only give you the content you want to see OR HATE which includes politics and conspiracy shit
conspiracy videos for fame and money
bought likes / traffic / ratings to push and hype specific content up
the mindset that you have to spend 24/7 on xitter hashtags to show support or even help with some RL issues (it rarely does anything but just wasting your time)
It's such an artificial distortion... how are we even okay with that?
Imagine if youtube would go back to not paying creators and removed video ads (that actually is how it started and how yt got fame when people just did what they wanted for fun and not for money). Not saying creators should not be paid but maybe not based on fakeable numbers but the oldschool way by their own fans and community. idk
Or if xitter and instagram would hide follower numbers and the whole sponsorship deals would stop.
Because in the end it's really just coming down to having enough followers and clicks on youtube to get paid and on instagram / xitter to get sponsorship deals from companies.
If these two things would stop. All the clickbait shit and trash content farming (which does make people stupid btw like 5 minutes craft was just the beginning of that) etc would stop too.

Seems like the CBC event is the Paladins' turn to shine! Bradamante got an NP buff, while Charlemagne got a buff to his Invul skill. Now let's give a moment of silence to Astolfo and Roland getting no buffs...
Now, i don't want to jump to conclusions, but I get the slight feeling they couldnt give a single fuck about anyone with a drop rate above 1%
Charlie was underwhelming but viable. Bradmante was bad but still leagues above Astolfo. How did they make the most entertaining character a contender for the most boring
(Roland no notes, that dude is cracked already.)

i recently started a new mhgu save with my brother and playing it brought me such nostalgia of the times when you had to actually look up lists of key quests and post them in the chat so you and your friends could cross them out and track progress. or like not knowing when the monster was capture ready because no one had capture guru on their armor set and you killed it bc it just wouldn't limp. actually having to waste an item slot on a fucking map of the area that you had to take from a box that, depending on where you spawned would be a waste of time to get to. and also spawning in the area of the monster and having to desperately ping and hope ur fellow hunters listened to you??? having to look up weapon trees in order to know what you had to upgrade and also having to write down your own materials list. the crafting recipe books 💀💀 we were in the trenches back then....

jay exci- transgender 🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍⚧️ i Adore her videos, the majority are about works of fiction but they also tore into those streamers who put other peoples videos on and then fucking dip. over all big enjoyer i listen to his videos on repeat bc i like hearing them talk eheheheh.....
the right opinion and j aubrey (not worth separating these two lol) - they talk about internet drama and other controversial public figures for a loooong time. good shit though! its all very interesting to me eheh. i wouldnt say their videos are entirely unbiased (and. i dont think they should be) but the narratives they present are reasonable ALWAYS supported with evidence, and its not like allegations tier stuff. its reasonable shit like "what lead to the downfall of this persons career online"
jenny nicholson - i already talked about this
