oh! by the by, for folks not aware of my weekly breakdowns on twitter, I've been compiling a Comprehensive OFMD Soundtrack as we go through s2 (here; and my s1 playlist is here)
it's all about trying to be able to basically listen along with the show, and contextualising all the classical music a bit more. except I don't actually have a good memory for repertoire, so y'know, it's a bit cobbled together from other people's insights and copious Shazam-ing, and there are still a few notable gaps.
still!! it's allowed me to make some cool connections and notice some fun themes! I'm currently tracking the use of the La Follia theme in s2, and let me tell you, it's a fuckin doozy so far!

Yenralt Appreciation, Vol. 2: TENDERNESS
Set in the gap between 1x05 and 1x06.
This is not how she planned on spending her evening. It should teach her not to trade with shoddy merchants who might spring a cursed object on her.
She turns on her side with a grunt, schooling her stomach into staying in place at the movement, because she’s had plenty of throwing up already, thank you very much, and she lets herself sink in the pillow, squinting at the light peeking through the curtains like it personally wronged her. She should probably turn back to her other side, but she has been holding that position for who knows how long already, and the need to switch is apparently more pressing than the need to protect her eyes.
She throws her arm over her face, ignoring the ache in her muscles at the simple movement, and decides that that will have to do.
When the door opens, she doesn’t so much as twitch. She isn’t sure if the fact that she isn’t alone through this makes it better or worse.
“Yen?” Geralt calls, quietly, his footsteps turning noticeably lighter as he gets closer.
“Go away,” she utters. Of all the times to run into him… She had been feeling alright, when she first spotted him, which is why she invited him to spend the night together in the first place. She certainly didn’t expect that he’d end up walking in on her throwing up her soul.
“I have food,” he points out, after a few moments of hesitance. Yennefer can’t smell anything, so she supposes it’s some stale bread and cheese. The thought makes her stomach turn.
“Eat it then,” she snaps, pressing her arm harder against her eyes.

#i wish the show would have given us a little more tarlos between 1x03 and 1x10#there's practically NOTHING
That's what is so annoying about it. Like we know they interacted and had a successful dinner this time in episode 5, and even had physical contact going by the overly used promo picture, but it was deleted. It would've at least bridged a small gap. And then, Carlos wasn't in 1x06, BUT he was in 1x07, they could have had them interact in some small way, but they kept them in separate storylines. And so the next time we see anything, it's Carlos by TKs bedside. *sigh* So as much as I really love that era, I wish we could've seen alot more.
I really, really wish we could have gotten at least one more interaction before TK got shot! That's why it's so extra annoying that the tamale date scene got deleted. It would have given us a much better view of what was going on in their relationship at that time. Even though we get them standing unnecessarily close to each other while waiting for Paul and TK putting his arm around Carlos as they enter the club in 1x05, they don't actually speak to each other on screen in that episode. It's clear from their physicality in 1x05 (and also from Carlos's reaction to TK getting shot) that they're getting closer during that time, but I wish we got to see more of it. I know it was only a 10 episode season and they had so many characters to introduce and things to set up but come on! If we couldn't have the tamale date, they could have at least given us a little interaction in 1x07! Even just a small exchange between them while on a call or something, showing how their relationship is progressing. Oh well. I guess that's what fanfiction and my own imagination is for.
As I was recently rewatching season 1, I was particularly struck by how little on-screen Tarlos we actually get. I think it's a testament to how good Ronen and Rafa are that they made us fall in love with Tarlos with so little screen time to work with.

HSMTMTS 3x07 Review
Camp Prom was a great ep for lgbtq rep but was dragged down by bad writing. Let’s dig in!
It’s amazing how far this show has come since Carlos and Seb’s first dance in 1x05. HSMTMTS has broken barrier after barrier when it comes to lgbtq representation on Disney and continues to do so tonight with Ashlyn’s bisexuality and Maddox and Madison’s relationship. It’s a legacy to be proud of and if this show is remembered for anything other than launching Olivia Rodrigo’s career it should be for the lgbtq rep. I think most of the credit goes to Tim Federle and his commitment to telling lgbtq story lines, doubtless informed by him being a gay man himself, is commendable
Carlos giving Ashlyn the pin was a sweet little moment. Odd of course that Ashlyn came out to him off screen but this is still Disney. Even on Riverdale it took them many seasons to use the word bisexual so it wouldn’t shock me if we never hear it on HSMTMTS
It was nice to see Maddox and Madison have their dance. Tim reached out to Jojo Siwa specifically to play Madison and I’m glad he did so especially since I’ve heard that Nickelodeon hasn’t treated her very well since she came out
Jet and Maddox’s duet was great and it continues to amuse me that musically speaking Jet has been the male lead for most of the season. Reader, I’ll admit that I had to fast forward most of Maddox’s speech because it was too cloying but I’m glad that she found her people and that her and Jet reconciled. Also good to know that her parents are just strict and not homophobic
Nice to see Seb again and we even got a kiss right out of the gate. Seb being dumb can be overdone but he was hilarious tonight especially when he burst in on EJ and Gina
Dara’s song was great and I’m glad the cast is still getting opportunities to write and sing original songs. Glad she overcame her fears. Carlos afraid of being shirtless was more just set up for a montage of the male cast members getting wet and shirtless which I doubt a lot of the audience will be complaining about
We got the inevitable Portwell break up which was even more poorly written than I expected. For Gina to say that their relationship didn’t even start is just completely false. We know they were dating happily for months in between the end of S2 and the beginning of S3 but Portwell needs to be torn down to build up Rina. I’m glad EJ finally mentioned Ricky’s part in this mess, true he’s not the only or even the biggest reason why Portwell has gown down in flames but he played a role and his flirting with Gina has been so blatant that EJ and others have noticed it
Gina’s right that they’re in different places right now and that EJ’s life is in flux and with the age gap between them it’s an extremely valid reason to break up. However, that will all equally apply in less than a year in universe once Ricky graduates but I’m not holding my breath that Rina sinks over it. Gina wanting someone reliable is very understandable and is part of why she fell for EJ in S2 as he was reliable while Ricky was not but Ricky can be reliable during this two week summer camp because he doesn’t have any responsibilities. Sure EJ has gone overboard with directing the show but anyone filling that role would have to dedicate most of their time to it. And yes their teenagers but the show is literally the next day, the huge drain on EJ’s time is literally done in 24 hours
Looking Ahead:
One thing that caught my attention was Ricky saying that he would have a long time to figure things out regarding his confession before the documentary would come out. Shortly after the S2 finale an account on reddit claiming to have connections to the production side of the show said that the show would stop filming on location in Salt Lake, that S3 would be set at a summer camp and would feature camp rock songs, and S4 would return to East High after a 6 month time jump for the final semester of Ricky, Big Red, and Kourtney’s senior year to wrap up the series. Most of that has come to pass and as Tim has said that the documentary will have a big impact on the kids lives it would make sense for the documentary to be coming out before or early on during S4
There’s no doubt that Gina will find out about Ricky’s confession one way or the other before the finale ends, even if we don’t see or hear her reaction. And yet as of now it doesn’t seem very dramatic, there’s no real obstacles between them at this moment. The only cheap drama I could think of is that EJ attempts to win back Gina or Gina agrees to give EJ a second chance before Ricky confesses or his confession gets played. It would be terrible but with Tim’s track record it might just happen
It’s weird that Carlos and Ashlyn are so blasé about Ricky flirting with Gina but it’s even odder that no one mentions that Ashlyn is currently dating Big Red. It’s great that she’s exploring her sexuality but she’s not a free agent at the moment. That little scene at the end implying Maddox likes Ashlyn wasn’t very well set up and it’s hard to see Disney letting a bisexual love triangle unfold even if that’s what Tim intended. Certainly it would be very weird to have Big Red show up in the finale only for Ashlyn to break up with him
Well let’s see how much of Frozen we actually get to see. Next week might be the final appearance of Nini and will in many ways determine the course of the rest of the series. Until next week, wildcats

Okay, so here's the thing: Becoming Elizabeth's timeline is much shorter than the historical one. Or, at the very least, it doesn't correspond to the historical one at all.
(Sorry, I'm definitely not open to discussion this time, I've no desire to engage in any debates. I just want to state several things for my own peace of mind and be done with it.)
As you can see, there's a clear indication that only two months passed between 1x07 and 1x08.
And no more than a few days passed between 1x06 and 1x07, because in 1x07 everyone is talking about the new regime (and because one does not simply ask for loyalty after keeping one's "oldest friend" imprisoned for long, but that's a minor detail):
We also know that Elizabeth has turned 15 in 1x03:
And yet Elizabeth herself states that Thomas' attempt to usurp the power (or whatever his actions meant in 1x05) happened when she was still 15:
Meaning that Catherine's pregnancy announcement, Catherine's death and Thomas' efforts to marry Elizabeth all took a rather short amount of time. We also have enough reasons to believe 1x01-1x02 don't cover several years (and Elizabeth herself says she was 14).
So probably BE!Thomas' execution does more or less match the historical date - but that means that all in all BE hardly even gets to 1550s. At least, 1551 is out of question.
Because, I repeat, almost no time passes between 1x06 and 1x07. What happens in 1x07 obviously don't take years, because when Mary is informed of the proposed Protestant match, there's still talk of the new regime. And one doesn't plan an urgent escape to Spain for years.
Then there's only two months between 1x07 and 1x08, and all that happens in 1x08 happens very quickly. We even know that Somerset has been executed almost on the spot when Edward woke up:
Yes, given all the inconsistencies of the writing, maybe the scenarists really wanted to pretend that the events of s01 cover five or six years (and even then: so was it five or was it six? because there is a more-than-a-year gap between historical!Somerset's execution and historical!Edward's death, and given BE!Edward’s condition at the end of the season, this boy cannot possibly last that long); but that's not what was actually shown (and it doesn't matter what the showrunner did or didn't say in any interviews, because the only canon is what was shown), and therefore, BE!canon timeline and historical timeline are two very different things.
Just as there are huge differences between the characters of those people we've seen in BE and their historical prototypes, just as the family trees definitely look different, etc.
It's a fictional universe, and that's fine, as long as it doesn't pretend to be non-fiction.
The lack of logic in-universe isn't fine (and BE is much guilty of that), but that's a whole another story.

yeah stanton's brief dramatic necromancy in 1x05 did turn out to be too little and too late. this entire show is a fucking nothing burger. an obnoxiously straight vector connecting established film canon points without a single *thought* of subverting those textual limits and injecting a new wrinkle or arc so that it can fucking be about something. instead we're hosting an endless repetition of unarticulated dramatic beats that barely connect to character psychologies because there's no basic ass sequencing to internal motive exposition at all just. shallow platitudes and speeches that connect to fuck all and seemingly expect us to fill in the gaps "as fans" which is just the most infuriating dismissal of essential A to B storytelling in writing 101. It is too much to even wrap my head around, and I did write two fucking essays on it already. it's just a nothing burger. a trip down the checklist of self indulgent lore fodder moments setting up inconsequential details and in-jokes and endings while awkwardly winking at us with an open mouth. and wasting incredible actors and looking and sounding like ass because the volume is just an expensive excuse to kill camera language and flatten those grades and the poor 90 year old guy is, musically speaking, very obviously out of shit to say. If this does not end up being a vicious wake-up call I will go ahead and work on extricating myself from the irrational love I still hold for this series

4. If you could put this character in any other media, be it a book, a movie, anything, what would you put them in?
This is a copout answer but... I don't want to see them in any other media?? I want to see more of them in the ofmd world. I want more of the garlic soup polycule. I want to see how Frenchie captains the Revenge. Why would I put them with characters they've never interacted with when I could get more of the dynamics I actually want?
8. What's something the fandom does when it comes to this character that you despise?
I really haven't seen anything bad done to them? There's no doubt in my mind that shitty takes exist for them but my timeline is so Stede and Ed (and Izzy sorry) focused I don't see as much about them. And what I do see is good!
9. Could you be roommates with this character?
Yes for both. I think that'd be really fun actually.
12. What's a headcanon you have for this character?
Olu: Eldest of 4 brothers! I imagine a pretty big age gap between him and his brothers too, but the three of them are relatively close in age. Like Olu is ~8-12 years older than them.
Frenchie: I... am struggling to think of a Frenchie headcanon I have... I mean besides his cat allergy. He's neat and I would love to know more about him and his past but I don't have any wishes for what that would look like. I do think the cat allergy hc is extremely justified now that he canonically has a peanut allergy, because if you have one allergy it increases your chances of having another.
15. What's your favorite ship for this character? (Doesn't matter if it's canon or not.)
I'm a basic bitch. Tealoranges and room people. I miss tealoranges and room people content so much.
18. How about a relationship they have in canon with another character that you admire?
Olu: I really love the Olu & Stede (& Jim) content we got in 1x01 and 1x02. Olu being levelheaded and helping Stede thru a crisis was so great and I wish the two of them were closer.
Frenchie: Him & Ed in 2x01 and 2x02 were soooooo delicious. I wrote a short post about how Frenchie is almost posed as a son figure to Ed, who is replacing Izzy, who was a father figure. Plus he's the only person who isn't from Ed's past to ever call him "Eddie" (1x10)??? And his immediate empathy with Ed after the dinner party in 1x05?!?! And now he's the captain of the Revenge!! Like there's so much to explore with the two of them and it pains me to no end that the show will literally never have or make time for this.

Wait, no, I do: this felt like fanfic in the best way. Usually fic has to fill in gaps or provide closure or get us some fun downtime or all of the above.
This ep just gave us all that. Like, filmed and everything.
Except for porn. They didn't give us that. But there's one more ep to go, so fingers crossed.

So I finally got around to finish season 1 of Walker! (Spoiler review)
Yeah it took a while and I’m not going to lie. If it wasn’t for Jared Padalecki, Walker is not the kind of show I would usually even attempt to watch. It’s just not my thing.
The season has a slow start. A lot characters and storylines to set up afterall. It’s one of the reasons why it took a long time for me to finish it. Also the amount of hiatuses this show had was ridiculous. That is no way to air a show CW. That’s just plain annoying and I can’t imagine that doing the show any favors. So that also made me want to wait to continue to watch so I could watch a little less interrupted.
I’m gonna put it under the cut in case since it gets a bit long.
That being said the show gets a lot better as it goes on so I’m glad I didn’t stop watching after the slow start. Of the earlier episodes “Duke” (1x05) was a great one. “A Tale of Two Families” (1x12) is great, but made me feel rather negatively about the Walker family and how they threated Cordell after the loss of his wife. At the same time they do get a nice developement by the end so I forgive it.
“Defend the Ranch” (1x13) is easily in the top 3 best episodes along with the two last episodes “Dig” (1x17) (directed by Richard (Gabriel in SPN) so that’s always fun) and “Drive” (1x18). So yeah I do find the most action packed episodes the best, but by this point in the show I do care for more of the characters and actually enjoy the quiet moments too.
There’s some real stupid moments in the show for sure. Like the throwback clips to before the kids were born... and we’re supposed to believe they looked the same 16 years ago? A little hard to swallow and I admit I laughed out real loud at that. I adore Jared, but dude. That age gap and seemingly no attempt to make them seem younger? Also the manips in one of the last episodes of Cordell in some photographs? Holy s*it that was terrible photoshop hahahha. Minor moments, but quite cringy.
The acting in the show I think is in general good. Nothing too mind blowing, but I do think Jared and Lindsey Morgan are fantastic. They have some real good acting moments and I love their characters and their bond. Jeff Pierre as Trey is also real great and Matt Barr! I loved Hoyt! It was such a mistake to kill of that character so soon! So Jared, Lindsey, Matt and Jeff are def. stand outs for me in this show so far! The kids are not bad either and I do appreciate that they are actually played by actual kids. That’s not always a given in Hollywood.
As for the bad acting I don’t quite love Walker’s mom, played by Molly Hagan. She’s not terrible, but I’m not real fond of her character. And I really wish they had hired someone else for Emily Walker because I have never found Genevieve Padalecki a good actress at all and it’s painfully obvious the only reason she got the job is because she’s married to the lead. Luckily she’s not that much in the show, but her scenes could have been so much better with a better actress. As for the future I hope we don’t see too much of her, but mainly because Cordell needs to move on.
So I should round this up and talk about the reason I watched the show. Jared Padalecki. I keep seeing some peope say they can’t stop seeing Sam Winchester in Cordell and i’m like ??? Get out. If you actually watch the show you will see a great difference between the characters. It’s not Jared’s fault his face is the same lmao. I think he does great and gets even better as the show goes on. Cordell is very likeable and very flawed and is a lot of fun to watch him deal with everything. I can’t wait for the next season and see where this continues!
And on a superficial note, he looks bloody fantastic! A feast for the eyes! Like most of the men in this show ;D

Din feels his eyes fall halfway shut, lulled by the warm water and the baby’s happy sounds. He’s on the verge of drifting to sleep when he feels the brush of the washcloth against his bare stomach under the water, and the pressure of Peli’s fingers behind it, sweeping the cloth against his skin. His abs tighten automatically at the feel of her hand on his skin and when he opens his eyes she has a strange look on her face, all soft and curious.
“Do you want to…?” she trails off, offering him the cloth.

Thanks @mourningbirds1 🥰 Okay, so this was me dipping my toes in the water (no pun intended) of Din/Peli as a pairing. I thought about taking them all the way~ because I DO find this potential sexual dynamic and their height difference very intriguing, but. The baby was right there in the tub with them so I couldn’t make it happen, lol. But I love considering her as one of the few safe people Din knows he can go to. I like imagining that her irreverent nature loosens him up a little, and that his gentleness towards the baby and kindness to people who deserve it and his generosity with money pleasantly surprise her (recall her italicized oh in response when he thanks her in episode 1x05 😩). I imagine she is probably a bit touch- and affection-starved herself and in this scene you quoted I think… they both got a little lost in the moment and curious about what could be, while not actually being in a place to take it a step further.
So maybe some day I’ll write something explicit between them. In the meantime, I sometimes like to dream of her taking him to the imaginary rooftop patio I’ve made up for her in my mind* where they lounge in a hammock under the stars as the heat of the desert day fades and she gets him a little buzzed on a bottle of space ouzo.
Finally, a fun trivia fact about this fic is it's the only one I've ever gotten a rude comment on, from someone who asked in disgust if I was aware she's old enough to be his mother 🙄 (extra offensive because the age gap between Pedro and Amy is the same as the one between him and me, just in the other direction lolllll)
*I think I made this up but there’s a chance I might have stolen it from @fleetwoodmactshirt‘s mind, as happens on occasion when you share a braincell. She IS 100% to blame for shipping this pairing in the first place, I can tell you that much.

HSMTMTS 2x05 Review
The Quinceañero was a truly historic ep featuring the first time two boys have ever kissed on a Disney show. Let’s dig in!
We got the second same-sex kiss in Disney history tonight, Big Shot had the first last Friday, and the first kiss between two boys in Disney history. It’s a huge step forward. That’s not to say that Disney is going to start approving more same-sex kisses or lgbtq relationships or characters but the door is now open and at least some other shows and movies will be able to eventually follow in HSMTMTS steps.
Really nice cover of The Climb, Joe has such a great voice. It was cute that young Seb had watched young Carlos’ dance vid and felt inspired. Frankie and Joe being an irl couple certainly helps give Seblos a good rapport but it also helps that creator and showrunner Tim Federle is an openly gay man himself. I think if a straight man was showrunner we probably wouldn’t get such dedication to Seblos as a couple.
It was a really funny ep too: Carlos saying his love language is riddles, Ricky asking Nini who they talk to when doing their confessionals, Carlos saying Miss Jenn was a master of smoke and mirrors, Benjamin Mazzara and Mike Bowen interacting. My personal favourite gags were when Big Red said he always wanted a nickname and Kourtney immediately did an office stare and when Nini said Picasso was a terrible person.
Gina still going through it. Kourtney is right that it doesn’t really make sense that Gina is now going to all this trouble for Carlos but to be honest the writing and pacing has been disjointed so far this season so a lot of things aren’t flowing as well as they need to. Is what Gina regrets convincing Ricky to go back on stage as that helped get Rini back together? That’s petty but fair and also true to teenage emotions (though she shouldn’t beat herself up too much, Rini were clearly on the path to getting back together by that point anyway).
Jesus Christ, Ricky needs to read the room. Last ep he correctly realized that Gina wouldn’t want to hear about his Nini issues and tried to stop Big Red from mentioning them but now he’s just doing it himself? Obviously they’re trying to drill in the fact that for now Rina is one sided but it’s a little much. Also really doesn’t make sense that Ricky wouldn’t go to Kourtney or Big Red for this kind of advice.
Sofia Wylie was killing it this ep, both her and Joe are showstoppers. A Dancer’s Heart was great and she did a good job of acting on the verge of tears almost the entire ep
At least EJ actually thought to ask Gina how she’s feeling though and she clearly appreciated it after she got over her shock. It does seem that reports of Portwell’s demise were greatly exaggerated, with the music and the longing stares they’re setting up for at least EJ to have a crush on Gina. Hell even Mazzara picked up on it at the end. I had noted last week that it seemed like Gina’s story line in S2 was being thrown out of balance by the writers dropping a planned Portwell plot and sure enough this week we actually begin to see Gina’s story arc not being entirely her pining over Ricky.
EJ also benefits by being given something to do instead of just standing around in the back. I’m glad he took Mazzara up on the AV club offer and they have a nice mentor-mentee relationship going on. It’s also a nice little parallel with 1x05 when Gina told off EJ and had a moment with Ricky and now in 2x05 Gina tells off Ricky and has a moment with EJ.
Matt seemingly dismissed Portwell as a friendship rather than even hinting at something between them. I guess he could have been told to keep it under wraps as much as possible but odd that they wouldn’t hype it a bit; it’s not like this came completely out of left field, people were wondering if Portwell might happen because of the moment they had in 1x10 and the facetime call they had before S2. Sofia has already said that Gina will have love interests this season and EJ being one, even if it’s brief, would make whole lot of sense since there’s really no one else for except Jack who only shows up much later and doesn’t seem to be in more than an ep or two.
Rini was sweet tonight. Yes Ricky is being clingy which stems in large part from his mom’s abandonment and in fairness Ricky and Nini have probably been used to spending much of their time with each other since they were kids. Loved that ‘I think you kinda you know’’ call back tonight. Looks like Nini will be cast as the Rose which should be interesting.
Miss Jenn is pulling Mike Bowen, Ben Mazzara, and Zach Roy. Good for her! Jike shippers certainly feasted tonight as Mike crashed a teen bday party just to see Miss Jenn and we got confirmation that everyone’s fave Disney Dilf was born in the 70s and must be no older than 51.
Well gotta love Lily’s commitment to bringing down East High and drinking scalding hot black coffee. She really seems like she just stepped off the set of Glee
Really hope we see those puppies and man was that wolf adorable
Not both HSMTMTS and Love Victor both making Okay Boomer jokes (it worked when Pilar said it to Felix but not when Ricky said it to his dad)
Big Red exposing Kourtney and Howie was good and it looks like their plot kicks into high gear next ep
Bet Tim thought he was real clever for that shot of Mazzara, Mike, and Miss Jenn in a triangle
A well shot ep except for one weird and abrupt cut from Mazzara saying Caswell to Seblos outside the barn
Looking Ahead:
EJ stopping Gina from leaving would certainly further their relationship and would parallel him being the one to bring her back in S1. I still don’t get why they didn’t just use the Valentine’s chocolates as a plot device to further this plot; just have EJ secretly send them as he was also lonely and you can still have Gina think they were from Ricky.
From what I’ve seen online this Portwell hint has been controversial. It’s true that there’s an age gap between the characters of 2ish years and a much bigger one between the actors but I don’t think that will stop Tim as he already had EJ date Nini. I’ve also seen comments that it would be a bad idea since EJ is leaving at the end of S2 once he graduates but he’s not actually leaving, they’ll keep him around in some fashion until the current juniors graduate.
So far it seems like Rini is the Rucas of hsmtmts, Rina is the Lucaya, and Portwell is the Joshaya.
Kowie starts progressing a bit next ep and we may possible see Antoine next week or the week after according to Larry.
Presumably Ricky’s clinginess starts causing trouble between him and Nini.
Still so funny that North High just up and decided to do Beauty and the Beast just to bring down East High.

Re: the timeline for the show - ignoring the dates we get for a moment, I’ve been operating under the assumption that s1 = 6 months then we have the 4 month season gap, eps 1-8 of s2 then have to span the last 2 months of the year of sobriety. Working backwards Tim died at the start of s2 so we’ll put that as approx 2 weeks in to the season more or less. If that was the end of January then TK’s soberversary is approx mid March. That means that using this timeline s1 spans approx mid March - mid September and presumably Gwyneth then arrives mid - late September which puts the start of s2 early January (aka pretty much where we were in rl). This means that showwise COVID would have had to hit about 6 months later than in rl for the tl to make sense but we’re allowing for dramatic license here bc they couldn’t really have foreseen that). This also tracks w TKs counting in 1x05 bc if that ep took place about 4 months after 1x01 and we know that 1x08-1x10 could not have spanned more than three weeks total time (several days in a coma plus less than three weeks before TK can go back to work which hasn’t happened by the end of s1) then we have about a month spanning eps 1x06-mid 1x08. The only thing that doesn’t quite track with the tl then is Grace’s comment about her and Judd but choosing to make the comment mean “since Judd healed after the accident and was allowed to actually have sex bc it wouldn’t mean reinjuring himself” (bc i refuse to believe he came out uninjured and Grace is not the kind of person that would count “physically unable to have sex” towards the “hot minute since they’ve been intimate”) means that even w the 6 months mentioned between the accident and the new 126, assuming he takes a couple of months to heal could make it more or less coherent. Re: then comparing with the og show tl - it means a several month time jump between eps 1&2 and ep 3 and then moving ahead more or less with real time but in terms of Maddies pregnancy it does make sort of sense - if she found out she was pregnant in May then the baby is probably due around February and allowing artistic license and slowing down the og timeline from the crossover then the speculation about Maddie going into labour in the mid season finale also makes sense and would mean that mango is born around her due date (im ignoring the whole montage from 4x01 except for it telling us it’s September bc otherwise nothing makes sense and this is the only way the timeline is sort of coherent or maybe we’re just assuming COVID hit California and Texas differently bc it does mean that the start of og s4 = end of ls s1). This was sort of a really long ramble and I’m not sure it makes sense (watch me do backflips trying to make this a proper timeline that works for what we know of both shows) but this is where I’m at when considering dates and so on to try and make the whole thing reasonable and not just a hot mess. 😊

complete and full disclosure my only exposure to any of this is watching eps 1x01-1x05 of netflix and reading about 50 million ao3 fics so i have no fucking idea what im talking about
witcher canon is so fucking confusing and i have no fucking idea whats going on and i finally figured out why
i feel like most fandoms have either one or two canons and then whatever fanon (like books v movies or two different movie adaptations) but usually these two canons result in two distinctly different subsections of a fandom
witcher however has no less than FOUR DIFFERENT CANONS!!

and!!! they all kinda overlap in terms of fandom! there aren't really four different fandom subsections, which wouldnt be an issue if all the canons were very similar but here's the thing theyre Not. firstly the Names are different, and then the backstories themselves are different and some canons (like the games) are far more detailed than other canons (like netflix) and then the actual character descriptions are different and there are straight up characters that exist in some canons that dont in others and/or havent been introduced yet. plus theres magic. and magic fuckin complicates Everything.
in my highly unprofessional and uneducated opinion the reason for all this combining is because the netflix canon, which is what pulled in a lot of new people, is pretty underdeveloped as of now and people have decided to bother things from other canons to fill in the gaps.
like okay lets take geralt for example. theres netflix!geralt whos kind of an asshole because he has more pronounced abandonment issues because his mom abandoned him when he was older and he's a gruff prick of few words. theres hexer!geralt who i think is just chaotic?? books!geralt is nicer to dandelion than netflix!geralt is because he was abandoned when he was younger and is i guess just a nicer guy overall?? frankly idk who games!geralt is but i feel like he's similar to books!geralt ?? i have literally no idea
but then theres just straight up fanons? like?? is jaskier (or dandelion) actually a viscount?? who tf really is valdo marx??? does jaskier (or dandelion) actually go to kaer morhen?? what is winter at kaer morhen really like??
and then theres things that people steal from one canon and throw them into all canons? like lil bleater. no idea where she came from (id assume games or books) but i love her.
anyway this canon confuses me so much and it is so hard to learn from scratch
