it's been a hot minute since you reblogged the top 5 ask meme, but i feel you would have an Opinion on this one and i just thought of it
top 5 female characters who were mothers but maybe shouldn't have been
I reblogged it only a few days ago, so I'll allow it xDD
it would be easy to answer this with Objectively Terrible Abusive Mothers and call it a day (they hurt their children so, yeah, MAYBE they shouldn't have been!), but I'm going to try to come up with characters I think just... shouldn't be mothers. shouldn't be made to fulfill that role. completely independently of the children in question.
I'm guessing this ask might be about a post I reblogged in which the op was referencing certain future developments in dc comics... and yeah. Diana Prince/of Themyscira/Wonder Woman is going to be at the top of my list. Can't we childfree women have one (1) power fantasy left smh xD

Tbh... Gaby from Desperate Housewives. For many reasons. However, I would be more than fine with the storyline about her fostering her niece (and struggling with it) being kept.
LANE KIM (and given how Mei Lin's plot went in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, I wonder...).
I'm still iffy about Kima Greggs in The Wire ~embracing motherhood tbh. a rewatch would make me lean one way or the other.

1800:
late 1840: a bunch of rich men find a large, empty plot of dry land, some good miles out from the main intersection. the road is heavily used
late 1840: the idea of a gas station/store combo is conceived by the rich men, where more rich men have gathered to pitch in and help
early 1850: construction workers and builders move to the land to begin their work. the plan was to only build one building
early 1850: when the first brick was laid, so too was the first sprout
mid 1860: what was going to be just a large store had, somehow, turned into a town complex, with streets and apartments and houses and mini stores galore. when more is added, more of the forest grows around them. the builders can't stop its growth no matter what they do
early 1870: the town is complete. some people driving on the road stop, and then permanently stay in the town to build their businesses and live. the forest is small and harmless
mid 1870: George's parents moved into the town. his mother buy's a building to set up a butchers shop, which anchored them in place
early 1890: the forest had completed its ring around the town, and continued to grow. this impacted drivers on the road, as they could no longer properly see the town within. business from the outside slows down
mid 1890: the very first disappearance happened
mid 1890: the butchers shop rebranded to a bakery
late 1890: George inherited the bakery =)
late 1890: more disappearances occur. the forest was labelled as a dangerous place, and warning signs were placed at the forests entrance. this did not discourage people
1900:
mid 1900: the first rich man dies in the forest, one of the original planners of the town. he was trying to escape
late 1900: the town is wiped clean off the local map, and a new road is paved on the main interstate that ignores and covers the towns road completely. everyone on the outside forgets, and has forgotten, about the town. when people drive there to check, all they see is the looming forest. it's up to them if they're brave enough to try and enter it
late 1900: more rich people try and escape the town. none of them make it out
late 1900: Amalgam begins to take shape
late 1900: it rains for the first time in decades
early 1910: Amalgam starts to get bigger, more powerful, and spiteful
early 1910: George is cursed
early 1910: Ruby the dog is cursed
mid 1910: Gregg and Gabi are cursed
early 1920: Bruce is cursed
late 1920: Beat is constructed somewhere else
mid 1920: there are three abandoned cars stranded on the road
mid 1920: even more warning signs are placed at the entrance of the forest
early 1930: Beat escapes its lab and ends up on the road that leads to the town
early 1940: Alessa is cursed
early 1940: Beat ends up next to the forest in the dumpster
early 1940: George rebrands the bakery - for the final time - into the Pizza Plex, due to the Fortress' new arrival
mid 1950: FROG attacks Beat for the first time!!!
late 1950: George changes his name to Giovanni
early 1960: there are ten abandoned cars stranded on the road. the tenth marks the last time anyone uses the road again
mid 1960: the only animals left in the forest are bugs, creepy crawlies, and the Blessed Ones. birds refuse to flock into the forest or the town, and every animal that enters the forest mysteriously dies within a few weeks, only leaving the bugs behind
late 1960: Sora and Klaus are cursed
early 1970: Ruby the dog becomes a regular at the Pizza Plex' trash-cans
early 1970: a rich man named "Richy" comes up to ⬛⬛⬛ and begins to black-mail him over things that didn't happen, but could easily ruin his life, all for money he doesn't have
mid 1970: FROG attacks Beat for a second time!!!
mid 1970: ⬛⬛⬛ and Jodie have a messy divorce because of Richy's black-mailing and their spiralling money problems. nothing ⬛⬛⬛ is being black-mailed for is true
late 1970: Aadi and Charon are cursed
late 1970: ⬛⬛⬛ is suicide baited into going to the forest by Richy. when ⬛⬛⬛ leaves, Richy steals whatever money is left behind, and wipes all I.D's and records of ⬛⬛⬛
late 1970: ⬛⬛⬛ is killed by Aadi and turned into a bunny doll
late 1970: Bertha manages to catch Ruby the dog, and brings her in for a deep clean
early 1980: Jenny, Tala, and Loid, while searching for ⬛⬛⬛, try to sue Richy for murder, theft, and black mail. Richy pays for the whole thing to be called off. he threatens them to keep their mouths shut, least they want to end up like ⬛⬛⬛
early 1980: Ruby the dog escapes Bertha
early 1980: Jenny, Tala, and Loid enter the forest in a last ditch attempt to find ⬛⬛⬛, and die of starvation. they reform together not long after into the Twin-Likes
early 1980: Beat finds and starts hanging out with Aadi
mid 1980: Giovanni has formed a bond with Ruby the dog
mid 1980: Richy destroys and wipes any evidence that Jenny, Tala, and Loid existed
late 1980: The Nade wakes up beside the cottage
late 1980: a housecat walks out of the forests entrance and in to the town. it is not a good day. the rule of "destory anything that leaves the forest" is enforced a day after the incident
late 1980: Amalgam pukes out a blob of tar in rage because it remembered that Giovanni got away
late 1980: Amalgam immediately tries to curse The Nade in its rage and fails
early 1990: Amalgam fights the Twin-Likes. they lose Loid and become half constructed
early 1990: The Nade finds a bunch of boxes full of supplies within the forest, and begins to deliver them to the towns entrance. he doesn't know why he does this. he doesn't enter the town
early 1990: the blob Amalgam puked out forms into fake Giovanni
early 1990: The Nade meets Beat
early 1990: The Nade finds his old top-hat
mid 1990: Agent Stone moves to the town from nowhere
mid 1990: Giovanni meets Roxy
mid 1990: The Nade "meets" Giovanni
late 1990: Maggie enters and escapes the forest, with inside help
late 1990: The Nade encounters the Twin-Likes
late 1990: The Nade meets Ruby the dog at the Pizza Plex
late 1990: Beat bumps into Agent Stone
2000:
early 2000: Jerry retires from packing boxes
early 2000: The Nade meets fake Giovanni and brings it to the Pizza Plex, thinking it's the real Giovanni
early 2000: Roxy becomes the head manager of Frozen Dreams
early 2000: Giovanni begins seeing a warped version of The Nade in his river of tar dream, thanks to Amalgam's influence
mid 2000: Giovanni moves back upstairs in the Pizza Plex thanks to The Nade
mid 2000: Jerry starts working at a flower shop
late 2000: Paula begins her track record of tricking old rich people to their deaths, which, in turn, makes Amaglam grow stronger
late 2000: The Nade keeps bringing fake Giovanni to the Pizza Plex to give it baths. they somehow go undetected by the rest of the town
early 2010: Jerry finds Wister
early 2010: The Nade makes Beat meet Giovanni, Ruby the dog, and fake Giovanni
early 2010: Amalgam pukes out a second blob of tar in rage again. the warped Nade in Giovanni's dream stops appearing for good
early 2010: Maggie is the third time first place winner at the weight lifting competition
mid 2010: Amalgam tries to curse The Nade for a second time
mid 2010: The Nade kicks the shit out of Amalgam
mid 2010: the second blob Amalgam puked out forms into fake Nade

early 2020: Amalgam is now so strong, it can take control of the Blessed One's for a very short period of time
early 2020: Amalgam takes control of Aadi and makes him attack Beat, which results in Beat's shattered eye
early 2020: Amalgam takes control of Bruce and makes him bite The Nade's head clean off
early 2020: FROG declares peace with Beat
early 2020: Beat gets new eyes installed thanks to Triston, since Lilly wouldn't stop crying
early 2020: Giovanni sews The Nade's head back on
mid 2020: Roxy adopts Sandwich the cat
mid 2020: The Nade visits Paula to inform her that she's been inadvertently making an evil god in the forest stronger with all the rich people she's tricked. in The Nade's own words; 'please find a way to kill them in the town, and NOT use the forest. keep up the good work!'. Paula has no memory of meeting The Nade, and thinks his words came from her dreams
mid 2020: Beat gets new arms installed thanks to Triston and Wister's collaboration
