“So Ronaldo is the first male player to score in 5 world cups but in actuality Marta and Christine Sinclair score in 5 different world cups before him.”

Really don't like the image of Qatar being rehabilitated in the public eye simply because of their opposition against Israel. You guys do know they don't oppose Israel for anti-colonial reasons? Quite the opposite, actually.

Today at the World Cup:
- FIFA told European teams that if their captains wore armbands with rainbow 'One Love' logos on them, they would be violating equipment rules and regulations and be yellow-carded before stepping on the pitch. The teams had announced their intention to do this and notified FIFA two months ago.
- Alex Scott, who recently came out in her autobiography wore one of the armbands on the BBC's coverage of England v Iran.
- The Iranian team pointedly did not sing their national anthem in what is being interpreted as a protest at the continuing repression of protests that erupted after the death in custody of Mahsa Amini, arrested after wearing an "improper hijab," whatever the fuck that means. Some Iranian fans reportedly booed the anthem.
- After smashing into one of his own defenders and sustaining what appeared to be a severe concussion, the Iranian goalkeeper was allowed to stay on the pitch afterwards despite not being able to stand for much of the time. He was eventually substituted.
- Official attendance for the Netherlands v Senegal game was announced as 1700 more than the capacity of the stadium. The ground was no more than 75% full for the game.
- An American journalist was prevented from entering the stadium for the USA v Wales game because he was wearing a t-shirt with a rainbow on it.

George saying he felt like he was on the verge of fainting on multiple occasions during the race, drivers vomiting, others collapsing during the race, after the race.
f1 avoided serious disaster by the grace of god and literally nothing else, definitely not by any competence or foresight or good decision making
