I know they were very badly run behind the scenes especially the last few years but FUCK man.

A whole part of my teen years was influenced by RT. I feel like I'm losing a High School friend. Sure I hadn't checked in in a while but I still cared.

No matter how you feel about Crunchyroll I hope, I beg of them to pick up RWBY. Heck anyone who will appreciate it. RWBY is one of my all time favorite shows. It saved me from giving up art in HS because of a shitty art teacher. RWBY speaks to and connected to me in a way that is core to my being.

Crunchyroll’s awful anti consumer practices are made even worse when you realize that they have a stranglehold on anime distribution in the west.

Sure, Sentai Frameworks is still around, but their catalogue of shows pales in comparison to Chruchyroll’s.

It’s kinda insane how many shows CR licenses each season, seriously half of the shows I watched last year were licensed by CR.

As one would expect, because CR ends up licensing out a bunch of shows each season, they start to get lazy when it comes to the localization.

They have just straight up given up when it came to translating signs and episode titles in certain shows.

And because they’re notoriously anti union, all their English dubs feature the same actors from the Dallas area. Which becomes a huge problem with they end up licensing a show that was previously dubbed by a union studio.

Looking at you Mob Psycho 100 Season 3.

Pretty wild how a shitty company like CR managed to conquer the anime market in the west.

Even during the height of their popularity, Funimation didn’t license as many shows as CR. Though to be fair, anime was still pretty niche in the 2000’s and early 2010’s.

But still, the fact that CR doesn’t have that many competitors in the anime market is pretty concerning. As they will continue to double down on their shitty business practices.

good for us ig but compared to jjk s2 and aot finale i'm literally shocked and quite frankly feel it was undeserved. mappa worked their ass off this entire year w csm and jjk s2 not to mention the last two episodes of aot and either of those deserved the number one spot over bsd 100%.................this has nothing to do with my personal vendetta against studio bones btw i just feel like mappa solos in every way w their animation and art style and esp their anime adaptations (more than i can say abt bones)

Hey pretty cool stuff. Pretty exited especially about beyond and the extended epilogue.

Reading between the lines, it seems that Crunchyroll is dragging their feet on funding Volume 10 and they're looking elsewhere. I was worried about this ever since they got there to be honest, I was burned badly by their shitty treatment of Onyx Equinox, leading on the creators and the audiences for three years before having the decency to confirm it was canceled. (To the creator who then passed it on, not in any official announcement, because that would be effort.)

Which just makes me angrier because so many animators and artists put their heart and soul into that volume and Crunchyroll is just letting them rot because hey, a show being wildly popular isn't what the website with shows is about, they're about bribing duolingo into making lessons worse and stealing from their most recent Funimation members. I hope CRWBY finds a better way to do things.

I'm not at all affected by the miku expo BS that's happening, but I saw this and I was like "this... this is a tumblr experience right here" and it wasn't on tumblr that I could see and it felt like a crime it wasn't. in case no one knows, the miku expo decided instead of their transparent panels that they normally use for their shows that allow for the hologram experience to feel more... yanno, like an immersive experience, they went with a giant LED TV that sticks out like a sore thumb and feels like an overpriced movie- most people are making the best of it, but it's kind of insane that they raised the ticket prices and then pulled out a giant tv. It's... not the concert a lot of people paid for.
