I’m hosting a lolita meet in a couple weeks and I’m just wondering if I should rent a wheelchair at the gallery since I don’t think I could walk for that long (over 2 hours) even if I have my cane.…

But I also feel embarrassed to do so, not that I think anyone will really mind but still.

I’m also not versed in lolita wheelchair etiquette.

Meet CompuMiauMiau! CompuMiauMiau is sweet, but they don't hold back. They live in a society of Inorganic Lifeforms designed to avoid the past mistakes of humankind. However, CompuMiauMiau was built from different parts than most; so, navigating the world isn't always easy! 🤖💜

For the past several months I've been working on a secret project with another super cool artist! CompuMiauMiau is featured in that project which I'm so honoured and excited to be a part of. They're a character in the little world I've been building for a while now. I can't wait for you to see what we have planned!

I've been flaring a lot recently. Today I really needed to get up, walk around our condo a little, and put on something that makes me feel human. Capris and I took a few minutes to hang out in the living room with the cats, walk a little, and take a selfie. Going to try to balance moving and rest today better than usual.

A couple things I read and watched yesterday helped me become more aware just how much my plushes have become an emotional support throughout trauma over my lifetime. It's not like I didn't know it was a coping mechanism, but I don't think I comprehended how much I've emotionally retreated or how some things have effected me since childhood.

However, despite what some people might think, I believe it's a healthy way to cope, as long as it doesn't result in hoarding, debt, or interfering with my life in some other way. I'm proud of myself for making the conscious choice to help myself and have intentional emotional outlets like plushes, art, and music.

After experiencing not great stuff being out in the world after becoming visibly disabled, going out has become a great source of anxiety, even on the rare days I feel well enough. Having a plush with me gives me a buffer, an emotional sink.

There's quite a bit I'd like to write on the subject, but for now, I'm grateful that I'm starting to be more comfortable with myself.

Capris the Hoppy Swirls Build a Bear looks over the city lights. 🌃🌙✨ Chronic illness-flavoured ennui hits me, and I decide to write. 🖋️

heating pad, compression, no heating pad, less compression, heating pad, meds, no compression, compression, ice pack, less compression... everyday it's mostly the same song with the measures in different orders. Da capo al coda, senza la coda, senza il fine.

I'm no longer as bothered by the pain--it's everything else. The pain is a symptom to the larger scope of the disease that few want to treat. Having to constantly dig myself out of quicksand a doctor should treat is getting old. As long as I can avoid the ER, though, I'm grateful.

On a happy note, I'm really proud of this photo! The only editing I did was use Portrait mode (which is like auto low f stop, right?) while taking the photo and adding a watermark afterward. (We have Phillips Hue bulbs.) Being able to even have a few minutes in bursts each day for a little creativity gives me something to hang onto.

I have been so nervous to post my art here, and I don't know why because I do regularly on IG, but anyway, this is one of my characters, Ray T. Cathode!

Ray’s an old TV trying not to fade into irrelevance. Techmanity raced into the future, leaving them behind with only news, public access, a few sitcoms, courtroom reality, talk shows, and novelas. Without access to what tech society takes for granted as everyday function, Ray struggles to find their place in the world—until they meet others like them. Together they’ll find their worth isn’t in their specs but how they use them.
