Hauptwache, que en alemán significa 'Guardia Principal', es hoy una de las plazas más importantes de Fráncfort del Meno. Su nombre original, Schillerplatz fue sustituido a comienzos del siglo XIX. El edificio barroco que da nombre a la plaza, y que se muestra en las primeras imágenes, fue construido en 1730, y era la sede de la milicia Stadtwehr y albergaba, además del recinto policial, una prisión; y desde 1904 es una popular cafetería. Después de su reconstrucción, por los daños sufridos durante la guerra, en 1967, a causa de la construcción del metro, el edificio fue desmantelado para que pudiera ser trasladado y reconstruido por encima de la nueva estación subterránea del U-Bahn, nombre del metro en alemán. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ...
