GOLDSTONE!!!

On the one hand, I do wish more people knew that it's called goldstone and not sandstone or sunstone; those are completely different things, both from goldstone and each other. (Goldstone - artificial, primarily made of glass. Sandstone - natural, what it says on the tin, valuable for other things, too soft/porous to be good for jewelry. Sunstone - natural, feldspar, can have a similar aventurescence but not always.) On the other hand, it means I get to ramble on about it until people start looking at me weird for knowing so much about it.

For example, did you know it's manmade? It's also known as aventurine glass, and it's made of metal dissolved in glass and cooled until the metal precipitates and forms crystals to create that compacted glitter effect? And that different metals yield different colors? Copper for the classic red-gold, cobalt or manganese for (my favorite) the deep purple-blue that looks like the night sky, and chromium for a green that almost looks like emerald velvet?

I could ramble about the stuff for days. Instead I'll just stop with a picture of my favorite ring.

not only does keeping your personal id and info off of your socials help with privacy but a lot of people dont share their real names bcus of trauma surrounding it so if someone wants u to call them peewee online they are peewee now
