Once he'd woken and slept, and checked his face at the basin to keep sure it was his. But there are only small angles of colours, him blending with the cluttered mess of his dormitory, where the imprints of gone scholars sit the desks and beds. He doesn't look in mirrors anymore. Nor does he sleep.

The Cyberpunk Bloodborne AU

An insanely fun collaboration between myself, @karnaca78 , @galaxirin , @synthwayve , @henryvell , @x1702x , and @sirprplsnail! Making a master post with permission so we can share the brainrot lmao

Long post so character ideas are all under the cut:

Laurence runs a Megacorp version of the Healing Church, which provides the population of Yharnam with prosthetics and augmentation. He himself has two augmented hands that he can superheat if he wants to.

Ludwig is Laurence's main enforcer. He rides a motorcycle through the streets of the city dealing with whatever business Laurence wants him to. He also found a cyber katana that glows an eerie blue...

Maria also has dual arm prosthetics that allow her to dual wield guns. She also used to be part of Project Cainhurst, a government program to genetically engineer super soldiers into killing machines. As part of this program she had a chip implanted in her brain suppressing her emotions and ensuring she followed orders... That she managed to override.

Gehrman cobbled together homebrew augmentations and implants, installing them himself for customers at his workshop in the lower levels of the city. Gehrman eventually disappeared though... Rumors say though that Laurence got ahold of him, or perhaps something more sinister. They do say Laurence is developing AI after all.

Micolash runs the School of Mensis, a cult dedicated to brain-uploading via bugging their own brains into the mainframes of the AI. Becoming part of the machine, and losing themselves in the process. They do this through brain-machine interfaces called Amygdalas, which facilitate both brain to brain and brain to machine communication. They have modded themselves so much at this point that they also have to run coolant lines under the skin, giving them what appear to be eerie blue veins.

Edgar once upon a time worked for Laurence in a high-level Choir position, but fell in with Mensis and slowly converted to their cause. He still wears the visor, helmet, and robes associated with that organization, but closer inspection reveals the visor is shattered and the robes are torn, revealing the Mensis augments underneath.

Gascoigne initially got a mid-level job with Laurence's megacorp, but as he started augmenting more and more of himself he was transferred to a security position. Not that his recently discovered bloodlust was sated.

Djura leads a street gang of people whose augments are on the fritz. He also owns several unregistered Uzis.

Eileen is an assassin for hire - her calling card is leaving a crow's feather at every hit.

Alfred is a low-level corporate schmuck who does not realise he's completely expendable.

Willem refused to augment in any way, and consequently Byrgenwerth is extremely backwards technology-wise.

Caryll started as a normal human, but augmented her senses so much that now she can't speak or move or interact much at all, essentially grafting herself into the mainframe as a permanent user. Her one means of communicating with the outside world are the strange sigils and code that appears on the terminal near her, sometimes...

Rom was one of the first brain uploading attempts. Unfortunately, the conversion turned her into ROM (Read-Only Memory), so the computer has all her memories but is absolutely not "alive" the way other AIs are. Sometimes Caryll will access Rom's memory files, but no one is quite sure why.

The Dreamlands are all in cyberspace, and are accessed via a jacking-into-the-Matrix type situation.

The Doll is a holographic AI developed by Gehrman and based on Maria after her death. The AI got things... Mostly right.

The Great Ones themselves are all top secret AI protocols that all affect users in various ways, and are developed by various people.
