More color palette meme 🎨 this time with Fjord. This palette was very fun to work with despite (or maybe because) it was made of colors not normally considered very attractive. An interesting challenge!
Here it is in dignified black-and-white (his fashion portrait) and in Jester-vision (his dating sim route).
how better to describe my love for the Mighty Nein than "one of my favorite episodes was the one where they needed to stealthily climb up/get down a fucking huge tree only for it to get Very Loud And Chaotic Very Fast Due To Competitive Tendencies And Poor Decisions".
Except that describes TWO completely separate episodes (and trees), one involving romantic shenanigans, a baby roc getting hit on the head with a staff, and a shitty leaf costume, and the other involving a good ole footrace and also a bullet to the ass. No, no enemies had a gun.
I know Fjord listed The Sapphire of the Sea among the ships that he and Jester purchased, but I keep thinking about funnier ways for them to have acquired it:
1. Fjord wins the vessel in a high-stakes card game and gives it to Jester on their anniversary. He doesn't tell her that he nearly gambled away The Nein Heroez (II?) in the process.
2. Jester uses her magic paints to create a miniature of her perfect ship. She then casts Divine Intervention to have Artagan make it full size . . . but she forgets to put it in the water first. It's OK, though: she passes it off as an art installation for a week, and it's not even the weirdest display that Nicodranas has seen from her.
3. Kingsley presents the vessel to Jester and Fjord as a gesture of enduring friendship. Upon closer inspection, they realize it's the same ship he stole from them years before.
I do actually try hard not to make assumptions about people's real life behavior based on fandom behavior but also when people are like "here's why my favorite character should get every reward and macguffin regardless of the narrative" I struggle to believe that they weren't the sort of person who threw temper tantrums at other people's birthdays WELL past the age where that was vaguely excusable.
Friend on Discord said I needed to make an update to Luc's design in my Pokemon Mystery Dungeon AU after the live show and they were absolutely right
I love him, he looks like an early 2000s DeviantArt OC
AAAAAAA!! A Mighty Nein reunion dealing with the Solstice? I can't wait!
I've been wondering about their reactions more than anything. Not only will we get to find out what happened to Caleb and Beau (rescue mission, possibly?), but we also get to see how ordinary people like Veth are effected, whether or not worshippers of something like an Archfey are effected (Jester), and most interesting in my mind, how this is really effecting true and faithful believers in the gods. We've all been asking what that's been like, and while Deanna was great, her own personal issues with the Dawnfather meant that the effects felt muted for her. Caduceus is the Wildmother's specialest boy, and Fjord is her chosen champion. How are they doing? Are they buckling up to go to personal war? Did Caduceus get a vision like FCG and Deanna did?
I know right now people are super excited to see what happened with Caleb and Beau, understandably, but I cannot wait to really dig into how the potential loss of the gods is effecting honestly faithful and religious folks like Caduceus.
I remain legitimately obsessed with the kinds of questions that Travis asks and how he explains to Matt how precisely he's trying to discern information from the world around him. It's really fun and does communicate a lot about how his character thinks, but it also must be super helpful for Matt as a DM when he's trying to figure out what a successful check is telling Travis' character.
Travis consistently and regularly frames the questions that trigger these checks—Perception, Investigation, even History and often Insight, just so many of them—with such a fascinating and wonderful specificity, and I am always obsessed. It's one of my favorite strengths of his as a player.
I was rewatching the marisharaygun highlight vid of the m9's flawless heist (y'know for old times sake) and the moment I saw Travis' face when the first gravity sinkhole gets cast, I had to pause to fully process the realization that THISSS WILL BE ANIMATED!
IN ALL ITS DISASTEROUS GLORY!!!
he's so real for this reaction and I'll be using it at every opportunity
