Ooooh fresh material! I've never written Final Space fic before so here we go!

At the beginning, Gary considered himself well prepped for all this. After all, Ventrexians were just cat-people (although he never said this out loud) which meant their offspring were just cat-babies. Not baby cats, those were kittens. But a cat-baby. Which basically meant sometimes it would act like a human infant, other times a kitten.

Very quickly Gary remembered he had pretty much zero experience with babies and kittens. The little ball of orange fur in his arms seemed so tiny and vulnerable. One day, Gary thought he was dying. Lil Cato had been coughing and heaving and his face was scrunched up in discomfort. It turned out to just be a hairball.

He thought that when babies, finally, finally fell asleep, they'd be down for the count for at least a few hours. But nope. Lil Cato could get fully rested in about fifteen minutes and then be wide awake to poop and cry and attempt to claw at his face.

Speaking of...

Gary was watching Lil Cato in his crib, the tiny kit reaching up with his paws while Gary wiggled his fingers above his head. His movements were uncoordinated, eyes still new and working on his control. But in a single moment of lucidity, Lil Cato's claws came out and pierced Gary's hand as he grabbed him.

To his credit, Gary only let out a tiny squeak. "You know...", he started, voice strained. "I was doing some research and they make these tiny mittens for babies so that they don't scratch themselves."

"We're not putting mittens on our baby", Avocato said, sitting nearby and drinking an ice cold something that Gary couldn't see because it was in a mug.

"So we're investing in bandaid stock? Because how else am I supposed to survive this?", Gary lifted his hand, that Lil Cato was still attached to.

"We shouldn't discourage his warrior spirit. One day, he'll be a great fighter."

"He's a baby", Gary said, looking at said baby who was trying to bite into him now. Fun fact about Ventrexians - born with claws but teeth didn't come out until they were about six months old. So right now, Lil Cato had his claws sunk into Gary while his gums attacked his skin.

"Oh you are just the most adowable, cwutest hunter in the world!", Gary cooed with Avocato got the gauze.

"Who has a taste for fwesh? You do? Who wants to mwaul me to shweds? You do!"

"Keep talking like that and you're wrapping your own hand", Avocato threatened.

"And that concludes the baby talk session. Lil Cato, return to your psychology dissertation and I expect you to solve world hunger by tomorrow." Gary placed him back in his crib, among a few of his toys with which to create his 'dissertation' and turned to get his hand wrapped up.

He may not know much about babies or about cats. But he could be a pretty good dad to this cat baby.

I like to imagine that big polycules and or found families like the Final Space gang and the Bad Guys all sleep in a cuddle puddle like Team Rocket, whether they're in a situation where there's a bed in the room or not

Gonna be real and honest here, Final Space was such a formative part of my teen years, and whilst looking back, I cringe at some of the stuff, I fuck with it still.

Made a fun lil' friend group, and despite there being like 5 other final space roleplayers on this site, one of which was also little cato, I did my own thing, and we made it work.

It's horrible to me that Final Space had it's wings clipped just before it left the ground, it was doomed from the start, and yet people still loved it to death. Just watching the video where Olan talked about it made me emotional. Final Space is such a big part of his life, and people won't get the chance to watch it again. That's truly fucked.

Who knows, I might come back to this account one day, finish this guy's story. Whether that be through roleplay or some other format, I don't know. But in any case, thank you Final Space.

HAPPY 5 YEAR ANNIVERSARY FINAL SPACE!!

If only we could have 5 season at this point

I found out about Final Space maybe a year or so after it came out and I immediately fell in love. It had everything I could have ever wanted in a show; space, found family, a main character who uses humor to cope, bright colors, good, fast pacing, wonderful characters, and hilarious jokes.

It's an emotional rollercoaster and was truly onto something amazing before it was so wrongfully written off as a tax write off. What I would give to see this show for the 1st time again or go see it continue...man.

But for the time that it was a thing, it was absolutely wonderful and I'm so grateful to have had it.

//This update was always intended, but I had a temporary measure in place because of how much work I would have to do in order to fix this. This is basically my Fanon Reboot of the character and further separation from canon after my rewritten S3. This includes a visual update as well, as while the icons aren't perfect, and it's a very stylized, not exact variant of how I'd have in S2? It's what worked the best for what I had drawn for me to get to work with. This updates includes 450ish icons as a sign to how committed I was to reworking Ash visually and I've been giving updates to her icons as time goes on. You may REQUEST these icons if you want for a faceclaim, oc etc, but you need to give me credit if using them.

4. This character is considered to be my OWN RUN of the character like someone else writing a reboot of a character in DC or Marvel comics and out the gate starts at the age of 19 to 23. Why? The series got canned and I wrote my own fanon ending, continuation and conclusion already made. Her characterization has been expanded on but kept to canon-compliant along with slight redesigns to give her fin ears and a tail since her people are canonically lizard people from her homeworld and Olan more or less even wanted her brother’s race to be a race of dog people originally like Lil Cato’s species being a cat people so eh, I’ll do it my way to make her still an alien but adult alien lizard lady. On that note? She is shippable in any verse now due to my massive visual edits, but if you flirt with her? It is presumed she is MENTALLY WELL ENOUGH in the timeline and may just say some odd things here and there and not only that, to put her in inappropriate situations such as joking a little far et cetera. This was done mostly to assure people how committed I was to this change, as I have a total of around 440ish edited icons for my reboot version of this character and more or less I believe Olan would’ve kept her either as a child or would’ve had her be an adult from the get-go rather than do the weird real-time aging up on screen as he was forced by investor meddling. By all means, I am using the story of Final Space, but only up to S3 and even my S3 is heavily rewritten and I may or may not borrow upcoming graphic novel ideas but may simply reject them in its entirety.

This character is shippable in any verse, void inheritor is now presumably just fused to happy again as a verse and happy again will be her end game verse.

Like i get it, she's got trauma but miss girl has beef with everyone who ever cared about her, blames people for stuff that they have nothing to do with or had no other option, doesnt fcking listen to reason before jumping to attacking others for stuff that was crearly out of their control like with Gary,,, didnt she see with her own damn eyes that Invictus possesd his arm and he did not mean at all to kill fox? And yea i know it was Invictus telling her all those things but are you telling me she trusts more that one mf who's literally IMPRISONED AWAY FROM ANY OTHER LIFE FORM AND HAD SOME SORT OF ALLIANCE WITH THEIR COMMON ENEMY (sir Comander or whatever his name was) than the people who have showed her genuine love and trust for god knows how long they've stuck together????
