GIF editors in the pjo fandom are the real MVPs cause without them I would have no clue what tf is going on in any scene that isn't outside in broad daylight

Looking at your score for the "have you done antiquated things" thing made me understand that not everyone born 95-00 was indeed born 95-00 (if that makes any sense?) Your score of 9 surprised me because I'm only 23 and I got 4.
Lol yea I mean like ive seen/been exposed to most of those things. I just haven't necessarily used them
Watched my grandparents make calls on the rotary phone. Liked to stim with the dial while watching TV in their room. But i wasn't really old enough to be making phone calls.
Didn't really use the computer much on my own until I was 7 or 8 and my mom had a laptop and I mostly just played educational games on CD-ROM before that so while I'd seen floppy disks we weren't really using them in my house
Im not sure id seen a vinyl record in person til I was maybe 10. I knew what they were from movies and stuff but nobody I spent any amount of time with had any (tho apparently my moms cousin who's only about 10 years older than me collects them but I never really went to his house so I didn't know that til a few years ago lol)
Ive listened to cassette. My grandparents had a radio in their home office that played cassettes and I used to listen to Rudolph the red nosed reindeer on repeat for hours on it when I was little (and yet no one wondered if I may be autistic lol.) But ive never recorded anything on cassette.
I am very glad we never had dial up in my house. My noise sensitive ass could not have handled that lol. I know what it sounds like. I know it made an awful noise. I would not have been a fan.
I dont know if I would have sent postcards even before 2000.....every time I've bought a postcard its because I wanted it for me lol. With the exception of the wooden one I got as a souvenir for my friend when I went to Colorado (tho I do wish id gotten one for myself)
My dictionary was a childrens dictionary i got at school. Dictionaries and encyclopedias just aren't something my family would have...we read a lot but those would just take up shelf space lol
Ive never personally paid with a paper check but I have received paper checks as payment at work and i know how to fill out a check.

could someone. PLEASE walk me thru what the fuck happens in 'the devil in me'. what the fuck is going on. hh holmes wasn't even a serial killer??? WHO IS HECTOR. WHY IS HECTOR.
i need a fecking TIMELINE or sth idek. some of the ~aesthetic~ choices, with the short video/audio clips and newspaper bits are very interesting and creative and fun, but unfortunately they are also SO CONFUSING. what is happening. WHAT IS HAPPENINGGGG

the hunt (2020) is 2/3 of a goofy gory extremely-shallowly-political-sorta horror movie stapled to a third act that turns it into a weird kind of genius. actually putting in a cut for spoilers bc it is best Experienced, but
like it's going along like haha heads blowing up people saying recognizable conservative and liberal buzzwords and it's really all people believing what they want to believe and using different justifications for what they'd be doing anyway, right? it's just... just...
...what if in the end, it just came down to two women whose real motivation, whose driving force, is simply rage, is simply the animal desire to kill, the need to take all this uncivilized visceral hunger for violence and put it somewhere, find a worthy opponent to exhaust it on, a real fight with life on the line? what then? what if they ripped apart the facade of a perfect upscale kitchen as they beat the shit out of each other, drawing blood and grappling each other in paradoxical intimacy? what if I impaled you on the double-edged blade that you impaled me with? and we were both girls? and what if you hissed, elated, "I got you," and I, blood on my mouth, whispered back, "I got you too."? what if, in the end, this isn't about winning because you have the right beliefs--it's about who's alive and who's dead. and i lived. and i ate your fucking lunch and took your clothes and your shoes and your dog and your private plane, because I won. because in the end this is actually just about animal hungers, violence and violent intimacy, the sheer primal pleasure of winning. also i chugged your 1mil champagne and fucked a stewardess

ahrens & flaherty really took rasputin’s villain song from anastasia 1997 and turned it into the saddest fucking song in the broadway show ???? how is that POSSIBLE.

LOVE when monster movies find clever ways to put off or avoid showing the monster even as the monster’s presence looms over the story. HATE when they just heavily rely on pov shots to get around showing it. LOVE when that absence or non-visibility is apparent to the characters as well, and forms a key thematic thread in the story. HATE when we are denied the Monster Experience of the characters just because the director didn’t want to deal with too-complex creature effects

i just finished the film ‘i came by’ on netflix and like. was it good? not really. but ‘wealthy publicly-upstanding man perceived well by society who is actually hiding a dark secret’ as the villain had big henry vibes.

Look IDK the Asgard set-up but I do know enough about monarchies to know that if you tell your sons "Only one of you can ascend to the throne, but both of you were born to be kings" you're basically just asking them to try to kill each other come on I know how this is gonna end. And it's probably the blond(e) kid is the good one and the wee shifty dark-haired one (traits that always seem to go together in such stories) is gonna try to usurp the throne even though primogeniture is supposedly great which is how you know he's evil because the wee shit should just accept that and look forward to a) a career in the church or b) marrying some inbred princess from the other side of the continent, both of which are jobs that exist to prop up the one that actually gets the throne. I know people really hate Odin but at least on this issue they do have a point. Don't set things up so your kids will murder each other!!!

i watched 'mandy' because my dad said it was depraved (no longer trust him to recommend depraved things) and there was a clear line in the sand between 'this is fucking cool' and 'oh' and it was when they cut from andrea riseborough (of possessor fame, to me) laughing maniacally to nick cage tied up outside. a film has never switched up on me like that before.

Thinking a bit about the rubberneckers who start showing up at the hotel after they rebuild. Charlie's so excited when she see so many people coming by, asking if they can stay for the day to see if they like it, but... they're all just here to laugh at her friends. Not even just Vox– Husk and Niffty too.
What a way to spend an afternoon! Hang around in the lobby for a few hours and you'll get to see the Television Demon make a fool of himself while the Gambling Demon pours you a drink! Might even catch a glimpse of Angel Dust or the Radio Demon! Most people don't even remember Niffty, but those who do get a kick out of seeing what she's been reduced to as well. Three ex-overlords, one who’s been AWOL for nearly a decade, and a porn star who clearly must be on his way out too; turns out "The Hazbin Hotel" is a fitting name after all!
It breaks Charlie's heart to see so many people being needlessly cruel to her friends for no reason other than their own entertainment.

have discovered a new enemy while doing research for the honours essay. why are you pretending to understand psychology and BLATANTLY misinterpreting actual terms and concepts in order to tear down a movie aimed at teenage girls, my good bitch. i'm going to start biting
#you got the WRONG BITCH bc you just hit on two of my biggest interests (zombie movies and psychology) at once#FIRST of all. you dont have the credentials to be talking abt this and it shows bc why dont you know what psychotic means!!#simple shit!! you want to pretend you know psychology dont fuck up psychopathology psychopathy and psychosis! all different things!#you can BARELY conceive of narcissism. a one off joke about how a character recognizes his flaws and wishes he was respected more#is NOT proof to label someone as a fucking narcissist oh my god. id actually argue the complete opposite#you are accusing A Zombie of being abusive based on (checks notes) being scary looking eating brains and /protecting a girl/#bc uhhhhhhh smth smth dark triad smth smth twi/ight#last time i checked thats literally just fucking normal ass zombie shit + him being NICE!!#its not male gaze 'ocular aggression' bestie he cant blink. hes dead.#talking about how the zombie is unrepentantly creepy when he Literally worries about coming off as creepy In The Movie out loud#SECONDLY to circle back why are you so stressed about twilight. thats not even the subject of the chapter#(there are good critiques of those movies but this is not that)#your book came out in 2015 why were you still shitting your pants and crying that girls were having fun 3yrs ago at the EARLIEST#reaching so fucking hard to 'um ackshewally [thing that teenage girls like] bad' im shocked you didnt throw your fuckin back out#your arguments are nonsensical your positions reveal an alarming level of sexism and you should be ashamed#levi.txt#believe it or not im having fun rn. im funny complaining not angry complaining#w@rm b0dies isnt a Good movie but i will go to bat for it actually. let teenage girls have fun garbage#god knows adult men have enough of their own to choose from ESP in this genre#and its a movie that has a lot of interesting shit someone could analyze!! im focusing on it as a representation of changing feminism#but id love to see a reading of its portrayal of zombiehood as disability + its cure narrative#or critiquing how it writes its female characters bc admittedly theyre bad ngl#or on how survival is represented in comparison to films like zomb!e/and (which i also love) where you 'earn' survival with competence!#genuinely there is even smth to be said for the problematic nature of the brain eating element. id be intrigued by that paper#i dont think its much worse than the play the movie is based on? but its not nothing#it Is ultimately a little bit fucked up and i dont think the movie explores it enough#but noooooo we gotta talk about how the zombie is a narcissistic abuser bc of the brain eating. ok
