SUPERB dada, I will die on this hill. He's great with kiddos I can feel it in my BONES.

unconventional/unfitting because Arthur views himself as a villain (and does a lot of bad things in the games), and because I feel like the rdr fandom doesn't get a lot of regression-based hcs, even if the man himself is possibly my favorite fictional character to hc as a cg :)

Slight tw: vent post, cursing

I sure do love very much when my brain keeps me from using my best coping mechanism for weeks on end and also not allowing me to use any of my backups. I also very much love when my brain does this in favor of an increase of emotional flashbacks and the worsening of my depression symptoms to the point where I no longer feel like a person. Oh and also I definitely love demand avoidance adding to the difficulty in trying to do literally anything to make myself feel better, and when I finally take some steps to get better something interrupts what I'm doing and then suddenly it's wrong and takes my energy instead of helping me get it back. All of that was sarcastic. The hardest thing about healing for me isn't even the work you have to do, but the nonsensical nature of my brain continuing to use survival strategies that no longer work and often actively makes things worse for me when I'm no longer in danger. I'm safe now but it's like my body refuses to accept that.

I guess all I mean to say is I missed regressing, I missed being on tumblr, and I'm just so fucking tired.

Yeah, I think it's known by now that he's one of the biggest characters I see as a regressor. He's just been through a lot and his story is something I find so intriguing. of he is suuuch a sweet & quietly protective sibby I know it :) he protects you first & foremost by verbally defending you, and then taking you out to play and have fun wherever you wanna go ^^

more of a cg big sib then a regressor big sib I think, like he doesn't age regress but he does age dream, and he's more of a cg then a little :)

note; i never thought it would've taken me THIS long to play rdr2 but here we are!! and Arthur is just my absolute favorite man ever (if it isn't Javier or Hosea) and he is SOOOOOOO caregiver energy like hello???? anyways Arthur is my man and I love him so <3 AND I NEED MORE PEOPLE MAKING RDR2 AGERE STUFF PLSSSSS

headcanons;

He's actually a pretty awkward caregiver... at first. Like he'll try his best but for him, he's not used to taking care of kids so much. BUT we've seen how he is with Jack, so later on, he would be an absolute softie on his little one... and ONLY his little one

He typically does better with older regressors in toddler or kid ages, but that doesn't mean he loves any type of little one that comes towards him. He has a harder time with baby regressors, but he always gets encouragement from Miss Grimshaw and Mary-Beth to look after them

He doesn't usually mind what his little calls him! Though, again, that'll take a little while for him to get used to. Whether it's Uncle Arthur or Daddy, he'd be happy to hear them

He's always been the protective type, especially around his gang. SO you know how overprotective this guy is with his little. He'll put himself between them and anything or anyone that might bother you. Comfort always comes first

That also goes for his guns. They are ALWAYS packed away on his horse or on him where his little one can't touch them, he doesn't want anything bad happening that could turn sour.

He has a no-nonsense policy when it comes to everything. This goes hand in hand with his overprotectiveness. And tantrums are a massive no-no. That's why, usually, all the little ones he would look after are VERY well-behaved once they've been looked after, even in the first few hours. Any rules he has, he takes seriously

Oh, and he will absolutely. Never EVER take his little on a mission with him. Because he knows how violent they can get. Every time he's gone on a mission or even gone for a few days, he leaves his little one behind. Except when everyone is moving to a different camp, of course

Horseback rides are an absolute YES for Arthur. That's his favorite activity to do with his little one. Going out for a nice stroll in the country and even picking herbs or flowers on the way. He helps them saddle up and tucks them right tight in front of him while holding them close to his chest.

I think like the rest of us, Arthur loves to pick up little trinkets and items for his little one! Candy will magically appear behind them. And if there's a book that his little wants, it's right next to the blankets and covers. He won't "spoil" his little per say, but he will definitely get them whatever they want, because sometimes, Arthur can't handle those sweet puppy eyes

I think the ones who are little's in the group are Charles, John, Micha, Sean, Kieran, Sadie, Tilly and Lenny

He would be the best babysitter, especially for little ones who love learning. He’d never be anyone’s cg (sticking with one regressor for too long would be way too routine for him) but he absolutely loves the inherent chaos that comes with being a sitter. Making a mess or throwing tantrums aren’t just okay, but encouraged when Ian looks after you. He’s also more than happy to give age-appropriate lectures about literally anything he knows, and if you ask about something he has no clue about, he’ll research it with you.
