You know, I think there was a real moment of clarity achieved here with the revelation that he's the thing most likely to get in his own way. That's like, the most self-awareness he's shown over the entire course of IZ canon, I'm almost proud. It's too bad about the brain damage, but,

I think the two fic-related discussion topics of the moment - people expressing shock and consternation at the existence of fic-reading focused discord servers (because how dare readers discuss fic amongst themselves, instead of in the comments like god intended), and people expressing incredulity at the fact that people who write sexually explicit fanfic might not be comfortable with literally every type of sexually explicit comment - are kind of hammering home my current disgruntlement with ao3-based fic writer culture.

This is just the drabble of a moment on the mountain path from Resh'an's pov. It ended up being longer than I'd originally anticipated, but that's the story of my life, these days.

i don't know if other authors do this but before i drop a band shirt name in a fic or describe one for eddie i google to be sure he could have attended the concert to GET the shirt in the first place since where the fuck else would he get them in hawkins???? this man has to have gone to the shows.

(There are plenty of early tours he could have hit through indianapolis and chicago/cleveland if he's industrious, I haven't researched every single band on his vest yet, but several i have i've been able to confirm and i've figured out what the shirts should look like. i do not always describe them but if i namedrop them it's because it exists in his orbit)

fun fact!! turns out i rather enjoy the romantasy genre!!! i feel like this should not have been a surprise to me given how much i enjoy both fantasy and Good Tropey Ship Fics but here we are.

Really excited that the next draft of this WIP will almost certainly crack 100,000 words. Totally thrilled.

me: There's no reason this has to be a long fic. In fact, the first five sections are just establishing shots for each character, so I'll keep each one under five hundred words apiece.

me, a couple thousand words later: Okay, Albedo and Amber are both under 400, nice... Eula and Kaeya are about 600 each, I can trim those down for symmetry... and Jean is... hmm.

me: How did I spend 900 words on Jean alone?

Two unavoidable facts about the Invader Zim fandom that transcend space, time, and all evolution of the canon:

1. No one, absolutely no one here knows how tall twelve year olds are supposed to be

2. You can immediately clock someone's height range by the exact height they assign Zim

Funny thing about Hannibal is that "talking like they're in therapy" is fully in line with canon. Not for wholesome reasons, but just because our protagonists cannot break from from the roles that formed the basis of their relationship (nor do they want to). The one-sided vulnerability and power-jockeying via long-winded metaphor-laden consultations generates so much of the erotic power. And Hannibal cannot resist any opportunity to subject Will to rigorous self-analysis. Every time he engages in sexual activity he's gotta have an insufferable "how did that make you feel, Will?" post-mortem afterwards. He can't help it
