Perfectly normal story but as you read it the protagonist seems to become paranoid for no reason, constantly feeling watched, sensing a presence.
The reader gets no clues as to who it could be. A new antagonist? Something else?
It starts to escalate, the protagonist sees eyes floating in the room, watching him watching everything no one else sees it and he only sees it in brief glances, vanishing before he can take a closer look
Then a face forms, a head, a torso legs till a whole body is floating and watching like some eldritch creature transparent and flickering, stretching and bending changing faces and body
And the protagonist sees YOU
You the reader, who has been watching, observing from the very start of the story watched him fail and try time and time again never leaving always present, a silent observer present on his mind
