I'm literally like a paragraph or two away from the biggest climactic moment of the big climactic fight scene of Fearleading Squad...and I have been since like November. I know what has to happen next. I've broken it down step by step. I know what all the emotional beats and the thematic resolution are. I don't know why I just. Can't. Seem. To get it. To pick up off the page and move.

So here’s my vision of the fear squad up top. The team consists of Cleo, Draculaura, Frankie, Clawdeen, Meowledy, Toralei, Purrsephone, Neighthan and Hoodude. Ghoulia is the manager aka spirit captain and Cleo is the Head Fearleader.
The drawing below is something i worked on for a really long time coloring and then realized theres like parts i dont even like. So here’s the no color version… got fed up when i got to Cleo and didnt draw toralei lol
Anyways as you can see they all wear the same uniform but accessorize it differently.

working on a monster high ninjago AU!
the characters are students at monster high and are all different monster species! here’s the ghoul squad (+ some other main characters), nicknamed the ninja by teachers, under the cut:
characters in brackets are who they’re replacing (some have two characters they’re replacing) + info about ships
zane julien: the new ghoul at school. a robot, he can remove his limbs at will (frankie stein/abbie bominable, pixane (pixal x zane))
jay walker: a 1600-year-old anxious, jumpy and somewhat impulsive vegan vampire (draculaura, plasmashipping (kai x jay))
cole brookstone: the overprotective and brave werewolf of the ghoul squad. fashion designer (clawdeen wolf, lost/geodeshipping (cole x geo))
lloyd garmadon: a normie-presenting (a normie is a human in the monster high universe) dragon-oni-human hybrid who initially bullies zane but gradually grows close to him (cleo de nile, aromantic-asexual lloyd, platonic garmagoths (lloyd, harumi and morro))
kai smith: a fire elemental-water monster hybrid (more fire elemental than water monster) and nya’s brother (clawd wolf/heath, plasmashipping)
nya smith: a fire elemental-water monster hybrid (more water monster than fire elemental), the school’s champion swimmer and kai’s sister (lagoona blue, amber phoenix (nya x skylor))
harumi jade: a boogeyman tomboy lesbian biker girl. a good friend of lloyd’s. that’s all i have to say for harumi (deuce gorgon, platonic garmagoths, her and lloyd aren’t dating in this AU)
geo goyle: a gargoyle from screamtaro (the AU equivalent of shintaro) who was shunned for being a hybrid of a geckle and a munce gargoyle (rochelle goyle/neighthan rot, lost/geodeshipping)
p.i.x.a.l. borg: a matchmaking bone elemental-robot hybrid who runs the school’s relationship advice radio show with her boyfriend (c.a. cupid/robecca steam, pixane)
morro: a ghost and the co-manager/co-writer of the school gossip page, the ghostly gossip. one of lloyd’s good friends along with harumi (spectra vondergeist, citrusshipping (morro x echo zane), platonic garmagoths)
echo zane julien/mr. e: a frankenmonster and co-manager/co-writer of the ghostly gossip. when angered, he transforms into mr. e, an overprotective biker. zane’s brother (jackson jekyll & holt hyde, citrusshipping)
vania: a plant monster-ghost hybrid and former princess of screamtaro before she moved to monster high after the whole skull sorcerer thing (venus mcflytrap)
chen the cheerleader: the overconfident and arrogant werecat leader of the fearleading (cheerleading) squad (toralei)
sora: a tortured teen werecat pop star from imperium who eventually joins the ninja with her best friend arin (catty noir)
arin: a boogeyman who, with sora, joins the people he idolised the most (twyla boogeyman)
sensei wu: the dragon(ish) headmaster of monster high (headmistress bloodgood)
misc ships in the AU: nightshade (chamille x tox) and dark thinking (neuro x shade)

Frankie: What are you talking about???
Draculaura: I'm talking about the baby that's growing inside of your belly right now.

Draculaura: Well, not after that punch you're not. I've been taking muay thai classes.

Cleo: I know that we have had our differences in the past, but I cannot stand idly by and let you ruin the fearleading squad's chance at nationals, and we will never get there with you rocking a fetus fanny pack.
Frankie: ...I'm not pregnant!
Cleo: Oh, well I just assumed-
Draculaura: Well yeah, it does make the most sense.
Frankie: No, it doesn't make any sense. My body is made of multiple dead people. I can't reproduce!
Cleo: All right, well now that we've established it's not Frankie's and her bodily functions semantics... Draculaura?
Draculaura: All vampires are infertile.
Cleo: Right. And it can't be me because I'm halfway through Shark Week.
*Frankie and Draculaura share a shocked/nervous look*
Cleo: Yeah, I know what you call my period when I'm not around. So that means somebody else is pregnant. So let's go find out who it is—
Draculaura: And congratulate them!
Cleo: No, mock them, ridicule them, and tell everyone in school. This is high school, not an episode of Lizard McGuire.

My third design, this time prepared in advance, Clawdeen!

Descendant Of: Apollo and Selena Wolf
Freaky Flaw: "My fur is soft and chic, but the upkeep is a thorn in my side. Can't let it frizz up, or I'd look like a puffball, y'know?"
Grade Level: 1st year/Freshman
Favorite Subject: Economics
Character Description: Clawdeen has been a student at Monster High's district since she was a pup. Once she found a knack for fashion design, she unintentionally became rivals with her classmate, Cleo De Nile. Despite their battles on the runway, Clawdeen never goes a day without showing her style! Entering her first year of high school, Clawdeen hopes to find some more classmates willing to inspire her talents.
Additional Info:
- Because Clawdeen is a werewolf, a subspecies of were-animals, she is capable of taking on a human form.
-- While she is able to control the transformation, it doesn't last long due to her age. If the form is sustained, the longest she can stay transformed is a few hours.
-- She and her siblings often sneak across the "River Styxx" to see what humans are up to. They've nearly gotten caught on their excursions, but after a very close call, she tends to call the shots on when to return to the monster side of Salem.
-- Claudine Woods is her human alias.
- In her base werewolf form, her senses are heightened, including vision, smell and hearing. Her agility and endurance also gain vast amounts of strength.
-- Under the light of a full moon, these strengths are at full capacity, and she is unable to turn into her human form.
- Prior to the start of the AU's timeline, Clawdeen almost exclusively sticks to her pack. Other monsters ridicule were-animals for their ability to pass as human, so she tends to ignore or avoid them entirely.
-- The only monsters that aren't werewolves she often sees are Clawd's friends up until this point.
- While still rivals with Cleo in the fashion design department, the two began to hang out together once Cleo and Deuce, Clawd's beastie, started dating. Instead of the bickering and flinging of insults they had before, the two now have a more friendly competition attitude with one another.
- When it's the off-seasons for the fearleading squad, she spends her time on the track and field team. While she doesn't play for the school's teams, she loves to play baseball, casketball and soccer with her siblings and friends.

A little something for the Monster High au, because… True Monster High is honestly a bop for me

“Hey, guys,” Nathaniel greets as his wings take him over to his class’ usual lunch table. Ivan and Alix make room for him so he can stretch them out a bit after his guard shift. “Did I miss anything?”
Kim answers, chucks of his steak flying out of his mouth and onto his tray. “Nah, you’re just in time. Looks like Jean’s got a performance planned.” Alix gives him a swift slap to the arm, reminding him not to talk with his mouthful. “He’s been hinting that he got inspired by a history lesson from like… A week ago?”
Nino gives a low, impressed whistle. “Damn, he writes fast.”
Rose’s bones begin to rattle with excitement. “Well, I can’t wait to watch! Do you think he has someone singing in his place, or he’s using a recording?”
Quickly swatting away one of the flies buzzing around her, Sabrina groans and gets a few nods from around the table.
“Yeah, I do like hearing his voice,” Marinette agrees. “Well, fingers crossed.” She struggles a bit to cross her felt fingers. When Nino tries to help her, she swats his hand away. “I got it, hold on…” Eventually, she gets it. “Fingers crossed.” Alya gives a fond roll of her eyes and tussles her yarn hair. “Oh! It looks like it starting!”
The lights in the cafeteria dim a bit, the only source of light coming from Aurore’s hand, scenting as sort of a spotlight for the young phantom who stands in the middle of the room as a soft guitar melody plays from somewhere, followed by Jean’s disembodied voice.
Jean: Have you ever heard the story
Of dear old Mr. Hyde?
Half human and half monster
Whom everyone despised
Alya gasps and quickly whips out her phone.
Many of the students were becoming interested and were literally on the edge of their seats. The story of Jekyll and Hyde was the most famous story in monster history, of course, they were interested.
Jean: It's a cautionary tale
That should never be forgotten
Jean walks through the cafeteria, which turns into more of a glide thanks to his phantom powers
Jean: His secret was his undoing
Then things turned out really rotten
He gets up on top of a table and strikes a pose before flipping his hair and turning to the crowd with a smirk
Jean: Gimme a beat!
While there was a rhythmic drumming coming from wherever the music was playing, the students added on by hitting their lunch trays against the table or tapping their feet/talons/hooves against the floor
Jean: Mr. Hyde, he tried and tried
To fit in with his kind
Monsters hated human Jekyll
And humans hated the monster Hyde
Could you imagine being both and neither at the same time?
Mr. Hyde, he was truly cursed
'Cause we know monsters are the best, yeah
“Hell yeah!” Cosette cheered.
Jean: And humans are the worst, bleh
Jean stuck out his tongue on cue with the lyrics
Jean: Humans are the scariest, smelliest and hairiest
They're all a bunch of creepy freaks
In time with the beat, the students and even some teachers clap.
Jean: We're the coolest of the cool
We all know that monsters rule
Clap along if you agree!
The students all clap.
Jean: Don't be afraid to show your tru-u-u-u-ue monster heart

At this point, a few of the students, specifically the couples have gotten up to dance around the phantom in what almost looks like a choreographed routine
Jean: Okay okay okay yeah
Go ahead and let it out
You know it's time to shout

Show your tru-u-u-u-ue monster heart
M O N S T E R, hey

A few students on the fearleading squad spell out the letters with their severed limbs and serve as sort of back up dancers for Jean when the couples take their seats for a moment
Jean: Humans are the worst and we're the best!
Mr. Hyde was put on trial
His crime, hiding the truth
No one would believe him
'Cause his heart was half untrue
Jean approaches his boyfriend and taps where his heart would be. The young reaper plays along and pretends to look aghast before the two share a quick kiss
Jean: Rules are rules and when monsters chose
To enforce the rules it got gruesome
No one ever had his back
Hyde was shunned, that's a fact
They were scared 'cause he was half human, ugh
Chloé gags in time with the lyrics and smiles a bit when she sees Sabrina dancing in her seat.
Jean: Humans are unbearable, altogether terrible!
Chloé: Just a bunch of freaky creeps!
Zoé looks almost shocked when she heard Chloé sing along, but still claps.
Jean: Humans smell like dirty socks
Denise: We all know that monsters rock.
Simon looks at his partner with fondness in his eye at the sound of their singing voice.
Marc: Clap along if you agree.
With that line, Marc crossed one leg over the other and clapped all four of his hands to the beat.
Jean: Don't be afraid to show your tru-u-u-u-ue monster heart

Okay okay okay yeah
True to his love for the Rockabilly genre, Jean does a knee slide, eliciting an uproar of cheers from everyone in the room and got a few students to throw up the goats

Jean finishes his performance with a pose in the middle of the room as the students and teachers clap and cheer for the phantom. He gives a bow and preens off the praise.
“Thank you!” They finally speak. “Thank you! As usual, it is a pleasure performing for you all!” With a quick flip of their hair, Jean sits at their table where they’re met with congratulatory pats on the back.
“Bonito!” Denise gives Jean a strong pat on the back, almost making him fall out of his seat. “It was so worth the wait.”
“Warn me before you come at me with that masterpiece!” Ismael exclaims and curls up by Jean to purr against him. “In all seriousness, that was a total bop. Give me a copy of that, will ya?”
Jean smiles and gives Ismael a scratch behind the ears. “Of course, Ismael.”
“That was by far the greatest performance I have ever seen!” Her eyes turn a bright yellow to match her current emotions. “An excellent retelling of Hyde and the Doctor. Though, it does make me wonder what happened to him.”
Cosette points to the extraterrestrial. “Oh, now that’s a mystery. No one knows where he went, but anywhere he goes, he’s not gonna be accepted.”
“It is the sad life of a monster-human hybrid,” Reshma chirps. “Humans fear him, monsters hate him. He cannot win.”
Out of the corner of their eye, Denise catches Simon staring at something from across the room. “Everything alright, amour?” The students all look at what has Simon’s attention and find a strange blur going past the window.”
Marc squints his eyes. “Am I the only one who saw that?”
“Definitely not,” Zoé answers.
“Maybe it’s one of the shadow imps,” Mireille figures, and their friends all shrug and take that as the answer.
Outside, a hooded figure sprints away from the school, thankfully going unnoticed as the gargoyles were all on break. Feeling his hood starting to fall, he pulls it back over his head to cover his blonde locks and continue his sprint.
‘Well,’ he thinks in between pants. ‘They’re definitely not going to like having a human at their school next month.’

Appearance/Attire: Tall, wavy neck-length platinum blonde hair with cyan streaks and threaded with chains of shells, blush pink skin with patches of coral scales on arms and face, sky blue eyes with orange sclera, lower body comprises of six coral tentacles lined with cyan suckers on the bottoms. Pearl earrings, cyan cable knit sweater knitted with patterns of rainbow-colored fish, coral necklace encrusted with pearls of various hues, translucent black fishnet skirt that drapes and flutters around her tentacles.
Bio: Despite being a member of arguably the most feared race of monsters in the world's waters, Margo is as sweet as can be with a smile and a kind word to offer to anyone who needs them, as well as a creative streak and knack for making cute accessories. Always bubbling over with positive energy, Margo can improve any bad situation with her endless optimism and kindness. Her great strength also makes her a valuable asset in both shop class and on the fearleading squad. Childhood friends with both Ondine and the mermaid, Victoria, the three love to have swimming races, though Margo never takes it personally if she loses. But word to the wise...don't diss her dad!

Is it in bad taste to have a character mention that she's pretty sure a circle is drawn in blood because paint wouldn't do that kind of clotting and clumping, which she's seen on, quote, 'a million tampons'? Maybe, but no one's ever accused me of having good taste.

Unpopular Monster High Ooopinion? 👻
I like Toralei!!!!! A lot!!!
+ while I don't agree with her methods I understand why she hates the fearsquad and actively goes against them (lore from the diaries+webseries):
she wanted to be fearcaptain and Nefera made her think she would become so, but then gave the place to Cleo instead, who actually only got good at fearleading thanks to Toralei and KNEW how much Tory wanted to be captain and was ungrateful as freak!! Tory wasn't wrong in expecting her to back down and let HER get that place: both because she was a better fearleader and because she was closer to the team anyway having been there longer!! But Cleo was kinda mean at this point in the story so Tory and the rest of the squad just.. yk.. left her!! As they should have!! Cause remember how bad she was at training at first?? Not just with them but also the ghoul squad like.. Cleo really didn't deserve that place Toralei was right. Also while Tory can be a bit bossy she's actually a great leader!! In the videogames she was president of the students' body too!
