my favourite starker fics, part 1
hi. for my first reclist in this blog, i put together my personal favourite starker fanfics that i re-read again and again. in no particular order and with some cw/dark themes here and there, here they come:

Peter is working at Delmar’s, sorting out tabloids on the rack in the front, and he sees Tony’s face plastered everywhere and then Peter is reading words and then he can’t read anything because he’s crying and his shaking hands rip the magazine in half.
Tony Stark…alive.
He saved the world, saved Peter, and Peter never even got to thank him. Not that it matters now. If Peter was a factor in Tony's decision to snap his fingers, Peter will never know. No one will ever know, because Peter fucked up and now he doesn’t exist.

Peter lost a lot of things in Boston. When he lists them out, they fit in the margins of his napkin; his career, his degree, his motivation, his boyfriend, and himself. Not in that order. Not all by mistake.
“You’re just a secretary.” Tony tuts.
“There’s nothing wrong with being a secretary,” Peter says. “Your old secretary is the CEO of SI, these days.”
“Pepper Potts is the smartest woman I’ve ever met,” Tony agrees. “And she never let anyone call her ‘just a secretary.’”

Peter is tired of crushing hopelessly on Tony, so he decides to create an online dating profile to meet someone new. Neither Peter (Webster01) or his strange beau (Mark70) have pictures on their bio. They decide to keep it that way so they can focus on bonding over things besides appearance.
Meanwhile, Tony decides to start spending more time with Peter because people always become interested as soon as you try to move on...

As though he realizes that what he’s saying is so completely alien to him that he will never be able to understand this part of Peter’s life. “Peter, don’t you want people to know you for who you are?”
An AU where they get the Gauntlet off of Thanos that first time, on Titan.

Peter stares at his reflection in the bathroom mirror, blinking. It feels weird to say it out loud.
In which Peter's powers turn against him, Mr. Stark is back and suddenly acting kind of weird (and by weird he means flirtatious), and it’s all a lot to handle at once.

It was pushing midnight when Peter sent a text to his friend Ned asking for help with a chemistry problem. I know I'm doing something wrong but I can't figure it out, he wrote. He received a text with a picture of the solution. The elegant script should have been the first clue; the fact that it was on the back of a napkin the second. But he was tired, and failed to notice such details.
You misplaced your decimal when converting degrees to Kelvin, came the reply. Rookie mistake.
Gee, thanks, Peter replied with a roll of his eyes. Anything you need help with?
Yeah, who the fuck am I talking to, exactly?

Peter has a new boyfriend. Tony starts drinking again, for unrelated reasons.

It’s probably better, Peter thinks, that he doesn’t know who his soulmate is. He wouldn’t want to lie to them about Spider-Man, but he doesn’t think he’d be able to tell them the truth, either. Not when he knows it would make them a target for every villain who wants a piece of him.
When he has enough free time to feel sorry for himself, he thinks about how lonely he is and how much he wants someone to talk to--just talk to. But he doesn’t really have that much free time. And anyways, there are thousands of lonely people in New York. Peter’s nothing special.

What are your three favorite Starker fan fictions?
For me, without a doubt:
first position: Lanterns burning, flickered in the mind (only you), by @darker-soft-starker
This story probably brings together everything I love best, including Young Tony, High school AU, enemies to friends to lover, slight angst, extremely romantic tension, a touch of drama… *shiver*.
Second position: Under a Violet Rain, by @vaguekiwi
Again, I am seduced by the "enemies to lovers" plot. When love seems absolutely impossible, when everything is set up to make them hate each other, and yet a love still comes. From the first line to the last, it was a pleasure to read this story.
third position: The Pieces I've Lost, by @vaguekiwi and @snowstark
I usually don't like overly pronounced notions of submission and dominance, even more so when the story is riveted on sexual content and sexual degradation. But this story… this story resonates deeply with me. I was interested to see that the dynamics of submission and dominance come from genetics, making people really different from each other from a biological point of view. And all the reasons why I usually don't like these stories, well… those are the reasons why Peter is so different from everyone else in this story. In a way, it reminds me a bit of feminism, and that's why the plot is all the more interesting. And, of course… I want Peter to get a fucking hug.

OoOoOo this is a tricky one~~~ 👀👀👀 I am such a hardcore lover of so many fics and writers in our lovely community, and I wish I could list everyone in this response, but I’ll do my best to identify the three starker fics that are my all time favourites at the moment (because darn it- my favourites often change by the day 😅)
(Also, my method here of dubbing each fic my “third” favourite or “second” favourite doesn’t reflect just how much I love all these fics equally. Again, if I could name them all my “first” favourite I would! 😅✨ I’m just going to rank them in terms of how much each fic has impacted me personally and on the depth of their storytelling 💕)
My third favourite:
This is probably the starker fic that I reread the most, as it’s fantastically structured story and moments of simmering tension never cool for me. I am just as heated reading the tail end of chapter two as I ever was reading it for the first time ✨✨ Tony and Peter’s chemistry and sexual tension in this story is so heady and palpable- it makes me feel like I’m experiencing their powerful feelings and desires🥰 (plus all of the food they eat in the beginning sounds soooo delicious 🤤😩)
My second favourite:
Just like you, my friend, I could not ignore @darker-soft-starker’s outstanding work that I have still not stopped gushing about 😅
The multiple comments left on AO3 and original fanart that I’ve created for this incredible story really speaks for itself and I could probably fill the rest of this post with every single thing I adore about the plot, characters and romantic development, but I think in this case I will let the work speak for itself. I implore you: please read this fic if you haven’t already, it’s so much more than I ever imagined a starker fanfic to be and I guarantee you won’t be disappointed with what you find~💖
My first favourite:
Here we have it. My all-time favourite. Arguably the best starker fanfiction ever created. Words fail me when it comes to describing how much this story has influenced me as a storyteller, as a reader and as a member of our little community. If I was ever in doubt that starker wasn’t the pairing for me, this work would draw me back in and remind me just how lucky I am to be able to read art like this - on a beautifully curated fanfiction website - for free. I’ll never get over it, I just love it too much.
The Marvel canon has yet to top these masterpieces ✨

answering both of the recent tag games in one since im lazy (so scroll for the questions below the bingo)

I chose my baby Spider-Man/Peter Parkee, with a focus on the starker fandom!
1. How did you discover your fave?
spider-man movies -> video edits on insta/tiktok -> irondad fanfics on wattpad -> ao3 -> looking at starker in disgust -> becoming a part of the fandom
2. How long have you been a fan of your fave?
since homecoming! when it first came out but it took me a while to start interacting with the fandom
3. Do you write for your fave? (E.g. AU's, Drabbles, Fan Fics.)
sorta! i don't actively write, just kinda drabble sometimes and i mostly dont post that, plus helping others write, i do have drafts that have been in my docs for years though
4. Do you like what is canon about your fave?
i do but i feel bad for him! poor guy has nobody :((, but before endgame i was in love with canon.
5. Tell some of your headcanons of your fave.
•his spider abilities on top of the originals like purring, cant have peppermint, hibernates, etc
•his love of animals, always stopping on patrols to say hi to them or trying to keep the strays he finss
•being worthy of mjolnir and picking it up without knowing the significance
•that he worms his way into the hearts of everyone he meets
6. Do you draw for your fave? (E.g. Fan Art)
no i dont, but i love seeing others fan art obviously!
7. If your fave/s are portrayed by several actors, who are your fave portrayers?
basic, ik, but tommy.
8. Are you more into Books/ Comics/Films when it comes to your fave?
mostly the fanfics then anything, but the movies and comics are so entertaining.

this ones weird but when i went to new york i went out of my way to go to moma because of him mentioning it to tony

basic but the "When you can do the things that I can, but you don't, and then the bad things happen, they happen because of you." because even though its sad/semi unhealthy to put that pressure on yourself, i relate to it in a way and uphold myself to helping whenever i can.

i dont think so? maybe photos but that would have been a while ago

oops kinda did this already for another question but, "I am Responsible. I…Oh crap. My backpack’s gone." I try to be responsible but i am very clumsy and forgetful lol, and i do a lot of stupid shit

as big of a meal as i could possibly make, very carby, probably pasta, get some meat on those bones and feed the super apetite

i see the optimism/ akwardness in myseld as well, we are semi-close in age so i think that contributes to it

sorta, it was very short and it was mostly in between going from irondad to starker as well as small breaks i took from everything lol
25. If your fave/s were to have a crossover, who and which character would they have a crossover with?
well they did have one with stephen and the other spidermen but i think it would be cool to see him really interacting w the women of marvel, aka kate, yelena or natasha (also rip), pepper, captain marvel, america chavez, etc.

Hi! I'm Kai, alternatively everyone calls me PP or Miles. I'm 21, I go by He/She pronouns but I prefer masculine nouns (like brother, son, dad) and I'm a lesbian. I'm a psychology student and I'm also learning animation as an hobby. I started writing/reading fanfics at a pretty young age and needlessly to say it's my a favourite coping/stress relief hack.
I do not want to classify myself under the proship or anti tag, but I'm definitely pro fiction. I'm in multiple fandom and ships, and currently I'm dabbling in (again) MCU.

I have undiagnosed ADHD ( scored pretty highly on a couple of tests, plus my behavioural pattern indicates so. I have yet to find a affordable and queer friendly psychologist here.) and it often affects my deadlines, even the ones I set my myself. Hence I'm extremely sorry about the slow updates my fics have, or sudden unpredictable posts.

Hi! I have find you from starker-shipp and your awesome art for fanfics. I love your pics. But a month ago my phone's flashcard was reseted and I lose all my favourite atrs. I tried to find it, but I can't find art with starker statue kink . Have you delete those tweet? Why do you do it? How can I find this pic?
Hello! I apologize but I had to leave the fandom and I removed all my work from social media. Fandom culture has changed way too much and is getting harder and harder for people to understand the difference between fiction and reality and I am too tired to keep fighting a war I am not going to win. It seems that drawing domestic violence, glorifying m*rder/suicide, and abusive relationships are "romantic" and "full of symbolism" but age gaps are frown upon. So I am getting blocked and canceled in other fandoms I try to join because of people's hypocrisy.
Haters attack on a personal level trying to defend imaginary characters, so I prefer to stay away from it because it's something I don't see that is going to improve but will be getting worse and worse.
Do I keep anything of that fandom? Yes, I have 230 drawings on a folder on Patreon ready to download but only subscribers can get into it. In that way, I can be sure that only the people who want to be there are there.
I apologize if I am not more helpful. You can always DM me and ask for any drawing that you remember and want. I will send them to you.

Omg I only now saw the post where you were tagged and mentioned some of your favourite characters are Peter Park and Tony Stark.. so do you happen to like starker 👉🏻👈🏻 (bc I do) And do you have any ships in MCU? Damn I want you to write original work and I want you to write more HP/LV but I cannot help but get exited by the idea of a MCU fic by you !!! If you ever return to fanfics what ship do you think it would be?

Alas, I ship Peter and Tony platonically. I was first exposed to the Peter & Tony fics where Tony takes on a protective and paternal role and I loved that. I then tried to dabble with Peter/Tony slash but found my preferences rooted to the platonic dynamic. But maybe I just haven’t come across the right slash story! I can see how that would be a popular ship. TBH, I’m not knowledgeable enough with the MCU to write a fic about it, though I would /love/ to write a DCU fic with Richard Grayson and Slade Wilson.
As for getting back into fic writing--it’s a possibility! I would like to finish Dreams and possibly Ashes (if you aren’t a FG/HP shipper, I hope that fic could convert you). I have plot bunnies for a few LV/HP stories, but I have also been out of the game for so long. There are many original M/M ideas I’d like to explore as well.
It’s difficult imagining freedom after Immunity finishes! I still have a long way to go with revising/editing it, so I have some time to think on my next step. Maybe I’ll brush up on the MCU by then and consider a fic in that fandom 😉

Write my favorite tropes (with happy endings pls 😭) and be kind. I’m literally that easy lol
17. What do kudos mean to you?
At first I’d only kudo fics I intended to comment on or bookmark, it was kinda automatic because all the buttons are so close together lol but now I try to kudo as much as I can, even if I don’t have the time to write a proper comment. 21. Do you like sequels?
OMG YES, especially for AUs. I’m a thirsty hoe, gimme all the sequels. I don’t even care that much about the plot, they could be fucking like bunnies while having doritos leftovers and drinking wine out of a mason jar for all I care (looks pointedly at @darker-soft-starker). I just adore the easy, soft domesticity that comes with established relationships. Our boys deserve some peace of mind after everything they’ve been through, and I’m here for it.
26. How long do you like chapters to be?
Mmm I’d say between 3k-5k? I really really love long chapters but I guess that also depends on the fic. If it’s plotty and there’s a lot of setting/world building then I’d prefer smaller chapters because sometimes it’s hard to keep the focus. Thank god I’m not a writer, I’d suck at pinpointing where to split a chapter 😂
27. What’s your favourite POV (point of view) to read? (first, second, third)
I prefer third person but I’ve read and enjoyed fics with all of them. I particularly love stories with unreliable narrators, either told from first or third person. It’s fascinating to read, especially in a dubcon context 👌🏼

Zodiac: Virgo, but I’m not an astrology person.

Hogwarts House: I kind of hate studying, so I can’t be a Ravenclaw. I’m not nearly crafty or ambitious enough to be a Slytherin, and I’m not brave and action-oriented enough to be a Gryffindor. So I guess I default to Hufflepuff. But I don’t want to be a Hufflepuff. Sorry badgers. I’m going to tell the sorting hat to put me in Gryffindor. If Neville can be a Gryffindor, so can I.
The Last Thing I Googled: “Bunk bed with desk.” My father wants one. Because he’s actually twelve.😆

Amount of Sleep: Who even knows. I have serious sleep issues, don’t get me started.
Lucky Number: I don’t have one now, but when I was a kid it was 11.
Wearing: Levi’s distressed jean shorts and a black Aritzia bodysuit that doubles as a swimsuit. Plus jewelry, perfume, and a red-orange lip.
Favourite Instrument: Probably piano. But I also love string instruments for being such fantastic team players. They’re rarely the star of modern music, but so many songs just wouldn’t work without them.
Favourite Author: I can’t really choose, but the first several that spring to mind are AS Byatt, Anne Michaels, Marisha Pessl, Michael Ondaatje, Earnest Hemingway, and John Steinbeck. (And in fanfic: Penumbra, jesemieseviltwin (JET), Syntax6, Julie Fortune, Chryse, wordstrings, and ride to church anon, to name just a few off my Best Of The Best list.)
Aesthetic: I’m not sure I understand the question. Does it mean my aesthetic? It seems like a huge romanticization to say my life has an aesthetic. My life’s aesthetic is “mundane, exhausted, and just trying to keep my head above water.” But okay, for the sake of the meme, I’ll try.
My aesthetic is: Denim, bright lipstick, banged up second-hand furniture, dingy apartment, me and dad, nighttime walks, waiting for call-time emails, Starbucks refreshers, awake until 4 AM, black leather accessories, black iced coffee, gold-tone jewelry, OTP obsessions.
Favourite Animal Sounds: I think almost all animal sounds can be enjoyable under the right circumstances, but can also be incredibly annoying under the wrong circumstances. “The wrong circumstances” generally being that I’m trying to sleep, or the sound is too loud for comfort. I’m a big fan of ambient noise in general, so I think my favorite animal sounds are typically things like lowing cows or crying seagulls--anything occurring at a bit of a distance and creating ambiance. But when cats make that little brrrrip sound, that’s pretty damn adorable, too.
Random: About a month after getting into Starker, I discovered randomly one day that Michelle Branch had put out a new album in 2017, called Hopeless Romantic. It turned out to be a pretty good album (a little fluffy, but thoroughly enjoyable), and I ended up listening to it a ton, pretty much all of last summer. It brought me right back to when I was fourteen and listening to Spirit Room on repeat. Because of the timing, Hopeless Romantic is now inextricably linked to Starker in my mind.
Favourite Song: There is no way I can choose, but my oldest favorite is A Long December by The Counting Crows. Another long-time favorite is Dogs And Thunder by Sarah Harmer (or Basement Apartment by Sarah Harmer). Something I’m currently loving is this live version of Big Jet Plane by Angus and Julie Stone, which @starkerintheparker introduced me to.

Dogs Or Cats: Cats for sure. I don’t dislike dogs, but I have no desire to have one as a pet.
Blankets You Usually Sleep With: I love blankets, but the heat in my apartment is heat-controlled and my room is constantly too warm, so I usually only sleep with one thin blanket.

Why I Made Tumblr: Honestly? I ran out of Starker fanfic to read, so I made a tumblr out of desperation for some kind of fannish engagement.
Reason For URL: It’s a lyric from one of my go-to Starker songs. I didn’t want to over-think it, so I just scanned the lyrics of a couple songs on my Starker mix, and went with the first decent word-combo I found. I sometimes wonder if it comes off a little sappy/emo. I’d rather it didn’t, since I don’t identify as particularly sappy or emo, but if it does, oh well.

Favorite character: Roman Roy, my favorite dysfunctional fuckoff.
Least Favorite character: Honestly, every character on this show is great. I really feel that. Most hated is for sure Logan. But in a love-to-hate way.
5 Favorite ships (canon or non-canon): Roman/Gerri, Roman/Gerri/Tabitha, Tom/Greg, Marcia/Rhea, Tabitha/Willa.
Character I find most attractive: There are many women on this show who are smokin hot, and Stewy is objectively the hottest guy by far IMO, but if I am being perfectly honest about who I am most attracted to, it is Roman. I don’t even know.
Character I would marry: Tabitha, the only sane and maybe somewhat moral person. Also, she is so pretty
Character I would be best friends with: Also Tabitha.
a random thought: Kendall isn’t my favorite character, but if Jeremy Strong does not win an Emmy, so help me. His performance is utterly unbelievablely good.
An unpopular opinion: Shiv has never been a favorite of mine, though she does have the best outfits.
my canon OTP: Gerri/Roman.
Non-canon OTP: I don’t really have one, as much as just being totally interested in lots of different combos. Esp. between the women.

character I feel the writers screwed up (in one way or another): NONE THIS SHOW IS PERFECT was my first reply. But actually, I do think more could have been done with Lawrence. Maybe he’ll come back into play? But I expected him to have a bigger role in Season 2. His disdain for Kendall gives me life.
favourite friendship: How can it be anything but Tom and Greg? Though Roman and Kendall win for my favorite sibling relationship. But “friend” is not the right word.
character I want to adopt or be adopted by: Please, no. I would like to stay as far away from these people as possible.

when or if I started shipping it. TLJ. As soon as the soulbond kicked in I was a gonner. (I liked the idea in TFA, but didn’t actively ship it)
my thoughts: THEY ARE GREAT. Best canon hero/villain ship since Spuffy. I love how Rey never bent an inch for him, but still felt that connection. I love how well they fight together. Just all of it.
What makes me happy about them: That they are canon! His fucking smile when they kissed.
What makes me sad about them: That Ben is dead. It makes me sad both as a shipper, and because I think redemption via death is the least interesting way to go.
things done in fanfic that annoys me: I don’t read enough fic for them to have thoughts on this.
things I look for in fanfic: I like canon based fic when I do read it. Love me some h/c.
My kinks: Hurt. Comfort. Femdom.
Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: Kylo/Ben, no one. Rey or bust! Rey deserves to be happy though, so in a world where he is dead, I’d be happy to see her with Finn and/or Poe and/or some nice lady.
My happily ever after for them: Resurrection, somehow, and then going off to teach a new, better kind of force use together.
Tony Stark
How I feel about this character: He’s the best. Top 10 favorite characters ever, for sure.
All the people I ship romantically with this character: Peter Parker. Pepper in canon, though I have some thoughts about how I don’t think they really make sense longterm. Bruce post-A1 but not really after IM3. If I weren’t so devoted to Starker Tony would probably be my fandom bicycle, but I am, so mostly it’s just Peter.
My non-romantic OTP for this character: NEBULA. Tony + Nebula BroTP forever. Though I also love Tony + Rhodey and Tony + his bots.
My unpopular opinion about this character: I think his death worked and am not bothered by it.
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: I wish he had left a video message for Peter that we got to see.
my het ship: Tony/Pepper.
my fem/slash ship: Tony/Peter.
my OTP: TONY/PETER.
my OT3: Huh. Don’t really have one. Though I’d down for Tony/Pepper/Bruce post-A1.
my crossover ship: Tony/The Tenth Doctor. I really want them to meet and snark at each other and rub each other the wrong way but also admire each other and bang one time.
my kink: Iron Man Suit kink 5ever.
a head canon fact: Part of the reason Tony has such bad boundaries with Peter/ideas about how much responsibility Peter should have is he went from nanny at 14 straight to college. He literally has no idea how teens normally transition from childhood to adulthood. None.

I snapped, alright...
So, you know how you get excited when suddenly a lot of fics get added to your favourite tag on Ao3 in a short amount of time? Just happened. Like 8 of them.
I was finished with dinner and reloaded the tag for the last time, it was at 6003. It’s been stuck on that number all throughout dinner. So I decide to help my parents to do dishes, you know like a good kid. Certainly didn’t do it to force my parents to watch 20 minutes of John Mulaney...
Anyway, dishes are done. I take my laptop, go upstairs, get situated on my bed. And I check the tag again, like a loyal fan who does so every 20 minutes. To my delight 8 fics have been added! But for some reason they’re not the first fanfics I see in the list. Which, okay, has happened before. So I scroll down, about 10 fics in or so I see one of the fics that have been added.
Turns out it’s a Starker fic. In my beloved Peter & Tony tag!!! I keep on scrolling, since this is not the first time I’ve seen this phenomenon. Find the second, the third, the fourth, etc. All the way through 40 fics. All 8 of them Starker.
This is the first time I see so many Starker fics, a unholy relationship, in a platonic tag so close to each other. This ladies and gentlemen, is the moment I break. The moment I got sick of this happening in MY BELOVED TAG!
So, this is an announcement more or less.
But @ you pedophiles shipping this child and adult who are 30 years apart in age at the bare minimum. (And yes, even Tom is still 30 years apart in age with Robert which makes it just as wrong.)
KEEP YOUR FUCKING FILTHY STORIES OUT OF MY TAG!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’m not someone who usually goes and call out people on my blog like this. No matter how wrong they are. I try to keep away from all that bullshit and enjoy my time online with things I love. I try to turn a blind eye.
