hey when black and white remakes eventually come out. do you think it'd be good if they redesigned the characters?
bdsp not doing it was So disappointing bc like. bw is pretty much where the modern pokemon design philosophy got established right? sinnoh was the last region to have, imo, overall kinda Eh designs yknow, it would have been so nice to have them updated. but the bw designs are already really good i dont know how or even why you'd revamp any of them. i think i'd personally not want them to tbh, as fun as seeing the oras redesigns was for me

I watched all of JJBA
My thoughts on it, no major spoilers:
FIRST OF ALL: If I were to recommend it to someone, I would say watch the parts in the order of: 3, 1, 2 (although 2 is largely irrelevant), 4, 5, 6. By all logic, I should hate this anime. It goes almost completely against my taste in fiction.

Watching this anime is like getting waterboarded, occasionally a genuinely good moment will come where I am allowed to take a breath, but before i even register it some bullshit happens and I am dunked back in.
However, while getting waterboarded, I’m in a desert, i see the fucking stardust crusaders in the back, this is the only water source so while i cant breathe i am glad to have access to it.
Then finally, a particular moment comes, and i start drinking all the water, until theres nothing left and i finally breathe, and that particular moment is when father Pucci appears on screen, an essay on why he’s the best character coming hopefully never.
Watching this is like being forced to bash my head against a wall at gunpoint, and then being happy that my blood made a cool pattern on the wall. None of the characters act like real people. Time and space does not exist. Inconsistencies are everywhere.
Set ups and no pay off. Pay offs withOUT setups?? The characters describe their every action so honestly you could watch this with forks in your eyes and still know whats happening, except you won’t know from the intense mindfuckery that takes place.
But overall I had a great time. Amazing soundtrack, loved the OPs, I love the char designs and I love art that isn’t afraid to be weird and unapologetic in its weirdness, it’s insanely creative and the humour can be great, some moments genuinely had me hyped and my eyes wide
I loved how in a lot of episodes it focuses more on the antags, making you root for them (though thats often cuz the protags are annoying-)
My fav part is absolutely Stone Ocean, it has the best protag and antag, best visuals, side characters that I actually gave a shit about unlike most side chars in the prev seasons. Still rooted for the antag though.
My fav Jojo is Jolyne, second is Giorno (but the version of him in my head anyway cuz he had an amazing set up but shitass payoff in my opinion)
Fav side chars are Rohan, Anasui, F.F., Ermes, Bucciarati was alright I guess, I like Trish’s design, Polnareff was entertaining.
Fav villain is hands down Father Pucci, he’s the reason I watched this entire thing, the character who apPEARS IN THE VERY FINAL FUCKING PAR- Dio close behind. Kira was fun as well.
Gonna read Steel Ball Run maybe, because I’m still in the fucking desert and i need water-

gonna ramble about Player2’s fit cause why not 💫
I wonder if the outfit on the left (from the reveal trailer) is a different equippable outfit or if it was an earlier design outfit that got tweaked and became the outfit on the left (from the teaser trailer and beta)
Assuming it’s the latter, I find it interesting that the left has a similar blue top that default Player wears in khux so it could’ve been changed for the purpose of differentiating them. They’re still different characters after all.

Other changes include:
The lapels on the cloak being removed in favour of shoulder straps. Then they were added to the jacket portion underneath instead
More slits were added to the cloak. The side pockets of the jacket were also removed. I assume these were to prioritize Player’s mobility, plus it makes it easier for the jacket to flow without looking clunky/bottom heavy (you can see how cool and dramatic that looks in the beginning of the teaser trailer)
Notably, the second iteration of the fit also added that silver X badge to their cloak, which I like to believe is both a reference to them previously being the protag of χ, and a call forward to Xehanort’s (their kiddo!!) obsession with the sigil
I will say, I think my fav change overall is the integration of more purple into the outfit! Especially the pants, they’re so pretty, very different from the original dark pants (which were giving more of Eph’s vibes tbh). Like how often do you see a kh character dressed in white and purple? I really like it! It gives me a bit of Daybreak Town’s vibes too. They carry a little piece of their old home with them
And of course, I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention the hat. It’s been there since the very beginning, remaining unchanged. I guess that was a staple! And yeah, I like it even if it looks a lil goofy. It’s endearing and unique

he's also voiced by luke sizemore/yungtown who is a musician i love and who kindly directed me to one of my fav games of all time <3"
"Cringe ass naenae lawyer. He was a prince now he just traps anyone who walks into his forest to steal their soul. Also a divorce victim."
"Snatcher is an evil ghost dude that is the king of Subcon Forest. He steals souls and makes you do his chores basically. His design is top-tier and he has a kickass boss theme to go along with him. He's also divorced and pretty much adopts the main character, hat kid, lmao"
"just a real bastard tbh. a slight scallawag. Also he tries to murder Hat Kid (the protag) throughout the entire story then basically ends up semi-adopting her but refuses to admit he cares about her at all. he is literally described as a tsundere by Hat Kid in the Steam trading cards which is still wild to me. Also, like any good ghost, he has a sad backstory, which is about being locked up in a basement and slowly frozen to death over a misunderstanding with his wife (or girlfriend? unclear). which is why he has trust issues and doesn't want to care about anyone else again. He's even got a legion of evil minions he sends stolen mail to to make them feel cared about, which is of course couched in a thick layer of insults to distract from the fact that he clearly cares about them a lot if he goes through all this effort for them. anyways, he's goofy, he's evil, and I want to both hug him and punch him at the same time. What more could anyone want?"
"The mysterious, soul-stealing, shadowy apparition of Subcon Forest who ropes any unsuspecting victims unfortunate enough to step into his traps into completing his contracts… which are really just his chores he doesn’t feel like doing (including but not limited to: cleaning out a well, cleaning out a toilet, robbing his ex, delivering mail). Despite his immorality, he’s fairly jovial about the whole “being dead” ordeal, often cracking jokes about his own mortality (and the high mortality rate of his contractors).
Worth noting that, despite being technically invulnerable, he gets beaten up by an 11 year old who then deems him her best friend solely to piss him off. A Hat in Time is a great game."

Nimona appreciation post (Part 4 of idk how many there will be)
Sorry that took so long, I was a bit preoccupied with farming for Rizzley (Wriothesley in Genshin Impact)
I'm just drinking some Tea and watching Nimona for probably the 50th time lol Sooo… here you go: Part 4 (again: GIF for attention)
Bal waking up, noticing the blanket, looking around, seeing the tea and candles (completely ignoring the hilt of the morning star behind te cup) and just sighing kind of content as if he wakes up like this often is just precious and supptly highlights his relationship with Amb and I just kind of love it, I guess
also Bal being awake and alert right away even tho he was just about to relax cause he prob thought he's with Amb and all is good and stuff is also kind of competent again
Nimona just vibing
"Go" by Santigold is just so good, how did I never heard of that one before?
also how Bal looks at Nim (prob) destroying his kitchen is funny as hell, idk
her eyes reflecting the lightning is a neat lil detail

I will not go into much detail about the contents of the muderwall here, but damn, the really didn't need to go that hard on those details
One thing I'm gonna cram in here tho cause I just saw the portrait of the queen: I recently read somewhere that they wanted to get Dr. Blitzmeyer (I hope I remember her name correctly lol) in the movie but ultimately scrapped her buuut they kept the design/color scheme for the queen and I just… Blitzmeyer helped and supported Comic!Bal, the queen helped and supported Movie!Bal (even if it's a bit of a different relationship, I guess) and that's kinda cute ngl. I kinda missed Dr. Blitzmeyer, she was my fav character in the comic and I was a bit sad that she didn't make it into the movie
Bals face (and probably the camera movement) when he remembers what happened when they broke out of the institute reminds me of some anime protag who goes a bit insane, but I can't remember a particular anime I feel remembered of
Bal always the knight, trying to get his sword when he feels threatened, even tho he doesn't even have it on him
the hand gesture to "Meatball" lol and also: very nice line delivery by Chloe Grace Moretz, she's also a big part of why I liked the character of Nimona (even tho I also like her design and personality, without a good VA a character can be not that likeable, if you know what I mean)
again with the eyes reflecting lightning, I love the lighting in this movie so much
she is in fact a massive, fire-breathing something
Bals brain just overheated and he decided to just roll with it and ask
She's Nimona. (one of my fav lines ever and I love that she get's to say that in at least one other scene)
I have a feeling that Bals answer to "I'm Nimona." ("That is not an answer.") is maybe something trans/genderfluid people get more than me (and def shouldn't cause why do they need to even get that? Why can't everyone just accept stuff like that?)
Bal getting at least one question is actually very nice of Nim ngl
also him not asking something about her but why she's helping him is kinda neat, I think he felt that that maybe would be a bit to much in Nimonas personal space atm
Bals eyes widen for just a second when Nim answers him and he remembers what situation he is in is kinda sad (btw. much of this movie wouldn't worked for me if they weren't so damn much animated/if they wouldn't be so much little details in the gestures, mannerisms and whatnot of the people)
him straight going to thinking-mode when looking at the murder.. I mean innocence wall
Bal looking sad at Ambs portrait is kind of a mood ngl
also him kind of forcing himself to look away (down), breathing in and then looking at the complete wall again is so very human, those charcters just feel to real

Love how Nim wants to say kill him and stops herself when Bal turns towards her, without a doubt with a look on his face that says: Noooooo, bad shapeshifter
His reaction to "Let's got get him. You and me." is priceless lol
Bals hesitation (and probably inner monolouge) is kinda fun to see but also very undertandable, I mean: he knows her how long now? And even tho he redeems himself fast enough, here he is very much and very heavy still under the brain washing of the Institute and knows now that Nim is not human, so I kinda understand why he's so hesitant but he's desperate and she can (and will) voluntarily help him
Nim just rubbing salt in the wound, cause she knows exactly that he doesn't have much of a choice
He clearly wondered how she got there so fast and I love these kind of little reactions throughout the movie, they show how vigilant the character are and it feels even more real, cause let's be honest: if you're talking to someone who is like 10 steps away, you blink and then they are right before you, you'd also not gloss over that without so much as a second glance, would you?
love that Nim already moved from Sidekick-for-a-evil-villain to clear-his-name-and-be-a-hero-sidekick
Bal still not really trusting her but debating it
the shark transformation is just nice: the fluidity, the sound effect, Nims look, the lighting, the fact that you probably didn't really expect it, just *chefs kiss*
her "I'm not a girl, I'm a shark." is also very iconic, even tho it's used just one time in the movie; still one of the best lines ngl also her face when she says "But I'm not a girl." and the lil bite animation and sound is very nice
"Hey. You ever put your head in the mouth of one of these?", that line delivery and the animation for that and Bal already being done with the convo lol
"Should've just stayed in jail." lol

How do you feel about the upcoming DCTL graphic novel?
Cautiously optimistic!
When I first heard the rumours, before Adrienne’s announcement, I had pretty mixed feelings. My background is in comics, like that’s what I went to school for and worked on semi-professionally for years, and I love it as a storytelling medium, so I’m really intrigued to see how they handle the adaptation…and I also really, really don’t envy whoever has to make decisions on how to depict these characters.
But the announcement is encouraging! I haven’t kept up with Chris Hastings’ more recent work, but I remember enjoying Dr. McNinja back in the day, so I have to admit there’s something exciting about seeing a name I recognise and can be hopeful about to do a good job with the adaptation. Checking out the artist’s work, I’m gonna put a lot of my poker chips on “Sammy will look really normal actually,” but I don’t think that’s a dealbreaker – like, Dober’s Sammy is a big fav as far as Sammy designs go, and I think he’s a good example of how you can still get great Sammy vibes in a more conventionally attractive face. (though i also think there’s a chance of “the artist will lean fully into his unhinged vibes and make Sammy look like a batman villain” so wE’LL SEE!!) Genuinely, the artist’s portfolio seems well-suited to this. I would’ve pictured DCTL with a rougher, more indie look if you asked me to pick a fitting style, but I think this artist's slick Western-Comic-Book style with its strong spot blacks could be a REAL good fit for the inky vibes this story demands, and they don’t have the level of “sameface” that I’d usually be concerned about with these kinds of styles; there’s enough solid variation in their character art that I believe they can handle all the characters needed, and also do a cool ink demon.
DCTL does have some design questions that are genuinely pretty fraught, in that there's no perfect way to handle it (Norman’s a great example; do you take someone that 80% of the fandom has been drawing as a black man for years and make him canonically white, or do you present the Weirdo Creeping Around In The Shadows Who Mysteriously Gives The Protags Supernatural Info And Then Dies At The End And Nobody Misses Him as canonically a person of colour??? ROUGH CHOICE I DO NOT ENVY), but I'm still so curious to see designs for these guys, and my big hope is that the fandom will be understanding of the huge task the creators have been given and that this won't be regarded with the pressure of getting “The Official Canon Design That I'll Be Mad If It Josses My Interpretation” – like, getting an official Henry & non-old-man Joey in BatDR just felt like, y’know, seeing anyone in the fandom make a new set of designs. It feels like drawing fanart of the BatDR AU; it doesn’t mean my henry and joey designs are Obsolete. And I hope these designs are enjoyed from that perspective, as a new DCTL Comic AU, and that the fandom takes whatever we get as less THIS HAS TO MATCH MY PERCEPTION OF SAMMY B/C ITS THE OFFICIAL REAL SAMMY and more just, a take on a design for Sammy Lawrence.
Though of course I can’t help but be a little more anxious about Sammy specifically, haha. He is my big fav after all, and as embarrassing as he is in DCTL it has become a part of his story I’m quite attached to. A lot of humanity could be added to him or taken away depending on how he’s drawn… I don’t want to get my hopes up, but it’s hard not to hope that he’ll have Good Sammy Vibes that Resonate With Me Specifically.
And in general, my expectations are still tempered – the comic could certainly turn out to be very mediocre, especially depending on how well the artist is paid and how much time the creators can afford to put into it – but tbh I’m super interested in how this turns out. I can’t wait to see Joey in this style and it’ll be SURREAL to see a comic of like……. BatIM humans…… I’ve wanted sincere visual content about the humans for a long time and I’m stunned we’re actually getting it, so I’m feeling kinda cautiously eager!! I’m also curious if the comic will make an effort to preserve Buddy’s “voice” from the original novel, and how that will be handled – like, the whole book is really strongly framed as being written by Buddy, and that’s not just an incidental detail; it fleshes out his feelings about Dot, ambiguously gives us info on Boris without directly revealing the ending, and shapes the way he presents some moments as unreliable and time jumping strangely – he even talks about the frustration of not being able to just draw these things and having to describe them! (RELATABLE) – but at the same time, just filling a whole comic with tons of narration boxes is not usually a great artistic choice. It’s a really interesting challenge for the adaptation, and I’m curious if they’ll shift away from the framing device altogether or look for a balance to keep it.
Anyway TL;DR I’m keeping my expectations low but I’m really intrigued!! I don’t know if I’ll, like, actually acquire it; I usually don’t buy JDS Inc. stuff, but I feel more wibbly about the books in general b/c of how strongly I appreciate Adrienne Kress specifically, so we’ll see how I’m feeling when it comes out, haha.

Character ask prompt: Marisa?
General opinion/How much I care about them: 13 years ago I got into Touhou and Marisa immediately became my favorite... T_T I mean what's not to love? Her personality is one of the most interesting in the series, she's got a memorable design despite being so simple, she interacts with so many other characters in so many fun, different ways... She's a perfect character both for new fans because there's a lot of surface content to enjoy, and for old-time fans too thanks to all her hidden layers. Eventually Reimu stole her place in my heart for fav protag but I'm still very fond of her... Back then her coolness was what I liked most but I think nowadays I'm more interested in Marisa the hardworker, with her struggles and the times she fails but gets back up and how her character has matured over the years. Also she definitely played a part in my wlw awakening and it's so funny to see I'm not the only one in that situation lol
A ship I love: Reimari... Basic, but it's popular for a reason! I like it most as a deep friendship that slowly evolves into a comfortable romance, where they don't use any label like girlfriend or dating etc. Well I also love the angst and the fluff, but thinking about them just peacefully living their lives the same as ever, except with that added new level of intimacy, it's what fills me the most with warmth. It makes me sooo mad that none of those yuri polls that were everywhere a few months ago had reimari in their brackets. Where do you think your favorite yuri fanartists began...... Anyway I like a few other Marisa ships too and I feel like mentioning Marisa/Narumi and Marisa/Kosuzu especially because they never get any attention...
A non-romantic relationship that I love: With Rinnosuke :) He's taken care of her for so long it's sooo sweet. Their dialogues together are fun, I love the uncle/niece energy. I miss CoLA so much..... ZUN mentioned it in a recent livestream though so surely it means he's gonna write more of it!!! (delusional)
The NOTP: Rinnosuke again, not much to say here (I like unrequited past Rinnosuke -> Marisa's dad)
My biggest headcanon about them: I... think she's a descendant of Jacketko from Dolls in Pseudo Paradise... on her dad's side...... I know I'm not alone in this, I've seen it thrown into the void a few times both here and on twitter lol. The implications are so tasty it's insane.
An idea for a fanwork I would like to make/see about them: This is more reimari than Marisa-centric, but I've had this idea for a few years of a comic where a Reimu and a Marisa from different parallel universes end up together in the same Gensokyo, and have to find a way to set things right again. It's based on a very detailed and very bittersweet dream I had once... I just need the energy and self-discipline to work on it... haha...
Something that makes me think of them: Konpeitou!! And a bunch of more obscure things... like Meiji literature references again...

THEIR DESIGNS ARE TOO GOOD AND I BELIEVE THE DEVS ARE TARGETING ME PERSONALLY
HEY, DON'T LEAVE, I SWEAR I HAVE A POINT HERE
I have analyzed the new banners we've had this year [excluding Eiden-exclusive banners because he's the beloved protag and a special case] and I am honestly feeling so attacked right now.
So you know how fans can be cursed with have multiple favorite characters, and/or how certain design elements for those characters can make them go especially feral, right?
Well, a while ago when there was a post on the subreddit about favorite SSR designs for each character, I responded with my picks and reasoning:
(Note, this post was made after Frozen Echoes and during Journey to a NU World.)
(I am including this picture to serve as proof that I'm not straight-up lying about what elements I like.)
Now, considering the elements I mentioned, you'll notice that every banner we've had this year included at least 1 character designed with elements that fuck ME up SPECIFICALLY.

YOOOO, you a Silent Hill fan too??? I honestly love Silent Hill (well, except homecoming and the movies, with the 3rd game being my fav of all time), but if I had a quarter for everytime I find a Jojo fan who also happens to be a Silent Hill fan, I would have 2 quarters.

personally i LOVE the movies, especially the first one i think its great and kinda does the first games story better in a lot of ways. the second one is just fun i think the game is a better telling lol. personally i really only dislike Silent Hill 2 out of the whole series and even then i like stuff in it like the music and monster designs lol
but 3 is forever truly the champion of the Silent Hill Franchise to meeee

i’m not about to draw a minimum of twelve entire pictures but i wanna do this anyway (i guess i could just edit the images in there but that’s lame lol)
•my favorite gym leader is probably either tulip or clay! something about tulip i just always found very endearing and respectable and i love clay’s no-nonsense attitude and sheer strength. plus he gets bonus points for his daughter being lacey
•fav champion is clearly volo. like how could you not classify that as a champion fight. that was so freaking hard man. runner up goes to kieran though bc he was also really hard for me. but of course if we’re talking official true pokémon league champions then cynthia
•fav elite four member has gotta be lacey. i adore her. first time i’ve ever lost to the same opponent multiple times in a fair fight (aka being prepared and on-level). she’s sooo cute and fun! she also terrifies me severely
•favorite protagonist is akari no surprise there. la does such a good job of making it clearly important why the protag is the protag. it offers a legitimate in-universe explanation as to why this one child in particular is so much more powerful than all the others. out of place in time and space, literally chosen by a god… the way certain characters question her humanity, both in a good and evil way… it’s so good
•favorite rival… well pokémon fans use the term rival really loosely. it can mean any friend character that you battle for funsies even once. it can mean literal arch nemesis. idk. arven stole my heart with his story but i don’t consider him a rival like most people do so that goes to cheren. i love his story and he has also mopped the floor with me several times
•favorite antagonist is also volo next question. i’m sick in the head about him. n is a strong and clear second place obviously though. i’ve done enough rambling on here about them
•professor laventon is the guy ever he feels like he actually personally cares about akari so much. that’s her dad. the way he’s actively involved in plot stuff, he accompanies the team on field missions even when he really doesn’t need to… he’s always there. you see him a lot. and he’s clearly writing the pokédex entries himself and they’re absolute gold. but seeing as professor is also a broad term because they’ve been really breaking up the older tradition in recent games, i nominate director clavell as second place bc i respect the guy a lot. that old man (tm) enjoyer here
•fav battle facility leader… well. i don’t really have one bc i’ve done very little with the battle facilities in the two games i’ve played that had them lol. so i guess throwaway answer is ingo but mostly for pla reasons. actually i think he counts as a battle facility leader in pla with the daybreak update and i’ve done some of his stuff so he does in fact count for me
•for fav clan member i’m gonna say arezu i like her a lot. she tried doing the right thing in a very chaotic way and i respect her for her efforts. plus her design is cute and she gives great haircuts and her noble is adorable
•character from other media… well i’m obsessed with the way n is portrayed in pokespe. perfect blend between sad prettyboy and freak behavior. they just made everything so intense. and i love oshawott from poképark 2 with the way he’s trying so hard to be serious and cool but snivy keeps getting on his nerves lol. that’s the reason i chose oshawott in pla bc that was the only of those pokémon i recognized
•i’m classifying arven as miscellaneous bc like i said i don’t consider him a rival but MAN!! man… this guy just got shortchanged so many times but i’m glad he was able to get closure for his parents’ disappearance and death and that he can move on and just live his own life. also certified dog lover moment
•top fav character… yeah you all know it’s volo LOL. completely shrimp fried my brain. the absolute hyperactive high i was on when he revealed himself. made even more insane bc i had literally been spoiled that he was a twist villain but i had no other context so i was just waiting the whole game for him to be evil. imagine the sinking in my gut when the credits rolled and it didn’t happen i thought i’d been embarrassing myself the whole time but then the postgame punched me in the gut HARD. i thought he’d end up being like the sad sympathetic frenemy guy where you don’t really want to fight him but NOPE full on evil full on he was just using you. made even better by the context that he had been your biggest fan throughout the whole game while everyone else had been suspicious of you. i lost my entire mind. once again second place to n though
